Well deserved, I called it: https://tucsonfoodie.com/2024/12/16/asian-spice-top-100-restaurants/

This place is well oiled machine. They have a few booths and capacity is probably less than 30 customers to dine in. They were cranking out to-go orders and serving customers quickly. I got seated, a beverage, a soup, and my entrée within 10 minutes. There was a constant flow of customers coming in and out. So the ambiance is small, family run strip mall fast Chinese food. The food is good. I think this is a place that does mostly take-out orders. If you're near Silverbell and Ina check this place out.

The fast stuff 1. Willing to make modifications. The tofu with vegetables came with a white sauce. We asked, "Can we change to brown?" DONE. 2. Garlic intolerance - So they said tofu has garlic, and we can remove that. The Mongolian Shrimp their chili paste has garlic. They let us know. However, they offered fresh chilis instead. Wow, that's going the extra mile. DONE. 3. Service is elite. The place is small, like six booths. They do a lot of takeout. 4. The food itself A. Mongolian Shrimp was spicy and great. Lots of shrimp tasty with green onions. It's a schezwan dish. Recommend. B. The tofu dish didn't work for me. It was bland. Needed some heat. There are plenty of veggies, and I suspect the removal of garlic probably hurt. Tofu was solid. We will be coming back. Good food. Fair prices. And service that wants you as a happy customer.

Very odd. The food here is decent, but def not Traditional Chinese. However large portions are great. The food is greasy.

This place is great! Probably the best Asian food I've had on the north side and I feel like I have a high bar (from Seattle).

Are any of the dishes made with chicken breast meat? My wife only eats white meat.

Hi Karl, almost all of our chicken dishes are made with chicken breast meat, except our orange chicken and sesame chicken. However, we can also make these dishes with white meat upon request. Thank you!

Grain River Asian Bistro just blew every Vietnamese spot in the area out of the water. This place…read moreis the real deal--authentic, amazing, and honestly my new go-to when I'm craving something cozy and flavorful. The service was warm and attentive, and the pho... listen. It might just be the best pho in Tucson. The broth is rich, aromatic, and layered in a way that only true Vietnamese cooking can deliver. I also love how many veggie-forward options they offer, making it super easy to dine here no matter your preferences. And the desserts? They carry several traditional Vietnamese sweets you rarely find in the States anymore--such a special treat and a total standout. If you're looking for authentic Vietnamese cuisine that actually hits, Grain River is it. A must-try.

First time here and will definitely be back!…read more Came here with my family on a Thursday night about an hour before close. Service was good and fast. The portions were huge. We loved everything that we ordered. The restaurant is also very clean. We started with the pork spring rolls and the sugar cane shrimp. I wish the sauce for the spring rolls was a little thicker and had more of the peanut flavor. The shrimp was delicious. Ordered the vermicelli bowl for myself with pork and egg rolls. I would have liked the egg rolls to be cut into smaller pieces so I could mix in the bowl with the pork, but they were crispy and had a good filling. Other things at the table was the combination pho, banh xeo, and Thai basil chicken, which everyone liked what they ordered. At the end of the meal we were given a complimentary dessert, flan, which was delicious. There is a large menu, so can't wait to go back and try something else.

Stopped by for an early afternoon brunch today. Big mistake…read more But first, let me say that our server was friendly and attentive and could not have been more helpful. Promptly seated, drinks brought out, order taken and food delivered fast, hot and correct. The background music was some chinese music tv station playing modern easy listening tunes and, along with the comfortable chairs and solid table made for a relaxing environment. The food? meh. You can see our order in the latest photo and how expensive it was. the Lo Mein was mostly tasteless and certainly lacking in thast "lo mein flavor." Although the meat was tender, the sauce was just a sticky brown sauce. Surprisingly, the Spicy Pickle Tofu was essentially the same sticky brown sauce as the Lo Mein but with some fried tofu in it and without the noodles but nothing otherwise remarkable. You can tell by looking at my earlier picture attached. The old picture shows a bright and colorful plate. The dish today was a dark brown (you could hardly see the tofu from the beef) as everything was just dark. Eggplant seemed to have a similar brown sauce as well but the eggplant was otherwise tasteless. Nothing popped. Chicken bites were bland and not at all crunchy. Just fried to soft texture but no real flavor. According to our server, the menu was just recently updated about a month ago. We noticed because one of our favorites was the Fried Taro Pie which is now gone from the menu and the server said yes, that's right. Maybe this place has a new owner or chef, but it's no longer in my top asian restaurants for Tucson.
