The place is big and set up nicely. Most of the food was good. Nigri was fresh and hand rolls were fairly well done. AYCE is a good deal with massive variety to choose from. Unfortunately their service and system for ordering is subpar. They are totally disorganized. They are brought out some of our food then forgot others. We went for lunch on a Saturday and the place was a little busy which felt like a really great sign for our first visit. The all you can eat sushi lunch was a great value. We enjoyed the appetizers, tempura, nigiri and sushi rolls the most. The hibachi and teriyaki options were okay, but I probably would focus on the sushi rolls next time. We did try to order hand rolls a couple of times and got sushi rolls instead, but we laughed it off. They got pretty busy for lunch while we were there which slowed down the service a bit, but it honestly didn't bother us. We were enjoying every bite and our date day. The owner/manager was friendly and excited. He walked us through how things worked and was super friendly. He made a couple of comments about a pending liquor license and digital ordering coming soon. We'll have to check it out again soon. The vibe of the place is great and the space is clean. The staff was gracious in letting us know it would be a longer wait time for a table but boy was it worth the wait. The food was amazing, cooked and plated beautifully. We got an array of appetizers, hand rolls, and specialty rolls. All of them were 10/10 The Nirgri was fresh and flavorful The specialty rolls were generously sized, and proportioned with a good amount of filling. Tao who was manning the front had amazing customer service. He made the service run so smoothly for our dining experience. 1. Parking is difficult. It took us 20 minutes to get a spot. 2. Took about an hour to get seated for a party of 4 at lunchtime on a Friday (1p). 3. Immediately tried to push all you can eat on us. The entire table has to agree on all doing a la carte or all you can eat ($22.99/person at lunch, with a fee if you take anything to go.) 4. They don't have Diet Coke, only Coke Zero. 5. We all ordered miso soups with our meals, and the server clearly forgot. We had to ask where they were about 30 minutes after we ordered. 6. It took 45 minutes to get our sushi out. 7. They put all of our rolls together on one platter, which was fine in that we were comfortable with each other, but difficult because we hadn't planned on sharing and it was hard to tell whose was whose and to break them apart. 8. The cream cheese in the Philly roll tasted like it came out of an elementary school cafeteria. 9. The booth bench was like weirdly far away from the table? It was pretty uncomfortable. 10. The men's restroom was gross. Just avoid. There are so many good sushi spots in Tucson - it isn't worth trying this one. The service was awful (our one hour lunch plan turned into 2 1/2 hours), the bathrooms were dirty, and the sushi was just barely okay. We certainly won't be going back. read more

I loved the family atmosphere. We ended up there by chance as our original restaurant was too crowded. Once we walked in, everything was authentic. Our server was smart too, she knew how to accommodate our family's different dietary needs. For us, this spot turned out much more than we expected. I've gone twice now and the food is very fresh. They also have super fun rolls. I highly recommend sitting at the bar so you can see what everyone else is getting and try to figure it out from reading the menu and their tickets. The fancy roll and tnt roll are my new favorites! The service could use some improvement. I get they are new and working out the kinks but when we went for dinner Sunday they didn't have a hostess so the line just to put your name in took 15 minutes which I found a little crazy. Your waiter is also getting pulled in a million directions so they can be hard to flag down at times so I feel for them and I've been lucky that they're always very kind and attentive. Took almost an hour for a table, asked if we can sit outside and the said no since it was going to rain.. with no cloud in sight,didn't get plates, a pen or any assistance after we sat. We did the all you can eat, took almost 35 mins to get our first round of rolls. Still missing our Vegas rolls and Rangoons . Did a second order, again took another 30 minutes for our second order which was only two rolls, we someone how ended up with four rolls so we had to let the server know we we weren't charged for not eating what we didn't order, never received our Vegas rolls or second order of Rangoon's. Ended up just cancelling the Vegas rolls and Rangoons and paying. Should not take almost three for some sushi. After we left the patio was opened and full of people. read more

$47 for 5 slices of sashimi... 1 bowl of edamame. Good news is that it can only get better. We felt bad for the staff as it was quite chaotic. My favorite part of the discussion with the owner manager was when he was notified we wanted our check so we could leave. He then stated "your food is ready"... If it was ready why was it not on the table where we were seated? I was then invited to come see the food that was ready. I declined. I observed servers not knowing food, stations, who had what stations repeatedly. Food was auctioned at tables and it was a result of force seating tables. I heard it 2 times we will seat you at this big table so you don't have to wait. The option to get the food that was "ready was offered" I also declined that. Them pushing our food through was only going to make it worse for the staff. The host runs the tables, the kitchen was buried and waitstaff was struggling but you continued to seat people. Let people know at the door we are seating slowly we filled up at open. Slow feed the tables to servers, this allows them to meet greet and then provide adequate service. The staggered in of waitstaff for labor management reasons makes sense but only if the customers are seated according to the schedule staffing. Close a section until the server is there. There are many ways to handle a very busy potentially successful business. You can have a diamond or a hunk of coal... you make that decision. I wish you the best of luck. We have a small dog that we take with us. She is good. They welcomed her on the patio and we had a late lunch. We were unfamiliar with the program, which is a flat rate, all you can eat. You can't take home food, so we understand that. The server was very nice and patient. I had the Hiabachi Shrimp with the rice and then the Shrimp Terriyaki. I liked the grilled, better. You are given rice once, so just so you know. I would try to order everything together. My husband had Terriyaki Chicken and we both split a tuna roll. Everything was up to par, very fresh and tasty. The wine is extremely reasonable and relatively good, better than you would expect. We had 2 glasses of Chardonnay, each, at 7.50 per 6 ounces. I am fussy, so I expected lower quality, and was surprised. Give them a break on this, it's better than what we have experienced. We were out of there, with the tip, for 100 bucks. We could have had more to eat and less to drink, but that's the kind of day it was. The only thing I am critical of is that there were flies present that should not have been there, which is hard for an establishment to control. Everything was clean on the patio. We have been to Kintaro twice in the past couple of weeks. We love this place! We've gotten the all you can eat menu both times and it worked well for us. We ordered our regular favorites and were able to try a couple of new dishes. Everything was well prepared and tasty. The service was very good, even though the manager advised us that he was a bit short handed due to staff emergencies. We received our orders promptly. worst sushi experience i have ever had. we had the absolute worst service. our waitress stopped by our table maybe 3 times in 2 hours. finally when we had been waiting 30minutes to pay and she had not come back, we stood up and asked another waitress to help cash us out. we explained to her how awful it was and she didn't do anything about it. just sort of shrugged her shoulders. 18% autograt for what? we recieved no service worthy of 18%. sushi meat was ok. very thin sliced which is upsetting but i guess expected for all you can eat. they need to fire alllll the servers and redo it, they all suck!!! read more

Decided to try this place. Appetizers were excellent as they are hot and fresh with good sauce. The sushi on the other hand is ok , but not worth the hype. All the items I ordered with the shrimp tempura was cold, seems like the shrimp is battered and dried ahead of time and just used throughout the day if a roll calls for shrimp tempura. Other place fry this fresh and add it to the rolls. That's what I was expecting. The California roll was good, except the crab was on the outside. Something I wasn't expecting, the hibachi items were good. But the things that stuck out were the appetizers. Was it worth $25-30 per person. Eh! Maybe if they shrimp was cooked to order and similar to what we were expecting. I will return in a couple weeks to see if this was just an off day or what, but it was ok . Would I drool to go back, no. But they're newly open so I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt. read more

Because this place is new the hype and lines are definitely going to be long so I would suggest going when they open to avoid waits longer than 45 minutes to an 1 hour. The food is definitely worth the wait and the AYCE options are amazing and offer something for everyone! Definitely bring at least 3-4 people to get more bang for your buck. The overall vibe of the restaurant was laid back and relaxing and the restaurant itself was decorated very well. We waited over an hour to be seated, and the staff at the entrance seemed annoyed and uninterested from the moment we arrived. Their attitude made the long wait even worse. After standing there for so long with no clear updates and such poor customer service, we decided it was best to leave. Brand new place, so a wait was normal for us. We came around 6:30pm got sat at 7:30. It was honestly worth the wait. We had some great food. We had 5 rolls & all you can eat menu. Onion soup was perfect & so was the miso. We got the steak hibachi & it was cooked to perfection. We also got another order of the steak & shrimp hibachi, and that too was really good.
