Shrimp Balls (Yum)
Jeff T.

I dropped by King Egg Roll while my wife was picking up our Banh Mi sandwiches at Thien Huang next door. I have a soft spot for simple places that make uncomplicated and inexpensive food well. I came by for the signature Egg Rolls and Shrimp Balls and left satisfied. It's not gourmet food but it's plenty fast and friendly with tasty appetizers as advertised. Stand in line, check out the food in buffet trays behind glass, order from the friendly staff, pay and go. There's also lunchroom style tables but we took ours home - well except for that shrimp ball that didn't survive the walk to my car! I can't give it five stars and three is too low. Sounds like a four just don't expect fancy, just a tasty budget egg roll! (King Eggroll also serves buffet style main dishes that looked buffet average but we came for and scored based on the tasty to-go appetizers)

Long line, and people don't get served in the way they come. I waited in line, and some Asian dude just rolled up behind me and got served before me . Also I knew it wasn't authentic when 90% of the customers were not viet. Eggrolls tasted very Americanized. Size was big but taste was meh. So greasssssy.

Incredible egg rolls! Each roll is massive, exterior is so flaky and crispy, and filling (we got pork) is unbelievably flavorful and juicy.

Whoa, I am way overdue for an update to King Eggroll. They are consistently the best place to get egg rolls and other party trays of food for large gatherings. They have THE best egg rolls! No question. No doubt. I loved their fried sui mai which are stuffed with shrimp, pork, and other goodies. Want some fried shrimp? Get those crispy shrimp balls, although, that texture is more of a shrimp paste than the chunks of shrimp in the fried sui mai. Post-Covid, I haven't seen the same Chinese BBQ meats and dim sum but they do take credit cards now!

Really spacious place and nice people. They have a ticket system when you place an order which can be effective. Overall nothing special about this location. It has the egg rolls and wings. Really convenient spot when you're craving egg rolls. Still one of the best egg rolls in my opinion.

This place is big and clean. Looks like most people come here to order food to-go or to pick up party platters. Fresh food trays keep on being replenished. It was my first time trying their famous egg rolls (chicken, pork) and fried shrimp balls. Very impressed with how hot and fresh these rolls are. We couldn't wait to take some home and we ended up eating all of it on the spot. We will definitely return for some more egg rolls!

They accept cards! I noticed an "x" on their Yelp page, so I placed a pickup order via DoorDash instead. I was in a rush, didn't think to go on the website. Parking wasn't bad at 10:45, but it was congested on Story Rd. Once we walked in, I saw the kiosk and learned they accept cards. The nice woman explained that ordering for pickup via DoorDash cost a lot more, that ordering from their website for pickup would be more cost efficient. I will make a note of that for next time. I wanted to order a tray of vegetarian eggrolls for the get together today. It was a meetup for other foster moms through the San Jose Animal Care Center. It was a nice turnout. I was so glad I ordered from here. I could have gotten pinwheels from Costco or a tray of something from Safeway but bringing something hot and fresh made my dish popular at the food table. I also ordered a combination plate for Gavin; he opted for fried rice and 2 portions of orange chicken and a bottle of Diet Coke. Because I found out they accept cards, I ordered a shiu mai, 3 pork eggrolls, and 3 vegetarian egg rolls as well. I typically don't eat at a potluck, mainly because I knew we would only be there for an hour and I didn't want to pick at a tray I brought. It came in a nice tray in a box and a side of sweet and sour sauce. Service was great!!! The shiu mai was delicious and juicy!

Best Eggrolls I've ever had. We drove from LA to the bay and had to make this our first stop. Flavorful and crispy. The shrimp balls were also huge and delicious and is a definite must try. Wish we had something similar nearby.

Solid egg rolls, and the red bean sesame balls were good as well, locals in the area swore by their egg rolls too. The fried chicken was yummy the breading was good but there wasn't a lot of seasoning

The combination plate has not enough sauce for the pork and too many peppers for the Kung pao chicken. Too many peas in the fried rice.

Always fast and food is always good. They also have dimsum. I tried their pork shumai dimsum in a party tray and it's delicious worth it.

That's unusual for my girls and I was so happy they ate! I put away the dumplings & green beans. There were plenty leftovers for the next day lunch. The food was a touch salty. However, not enough to be deterred from going back. Small and yet spacious place. The 4 stars is simply because my go to dumpling place cannot be beat. Altho I'd rather eat here for the wonderful servers & ambiance compared to dingy Dumpling Capitol. We were stuffed and not able to indulge in the dessert dumplings. The ube & chocolate combo sounds fantastic. I will make it a point to save room the next time we hit up San Pedro square and sap center!

If you're going to be paying $60-$70 for two people, you would at least expect your food not to be burnt and the staff not be rude! I have been looking forward to going to this place for two years, it was a birthday dinner and I was so disappointed by my experience. I understand that it's downtown San Jose and we came in the evening, so maybe that's just how closing staff is. First off when we were seated, I asked to be moved to a more comfortable's table because the chairs were really uncomfortable for me. The staff seemed irritated and said "I guess" which was the first red flag because it's nerve-racking enough to ask for a special request and to be met with an unprofessional answer like that was disheartening. Secondly, two orders of dumplings came out burnt, which was seriously disappointing. We could barely eat them. We didn't end up finishing them. I brought this up to staff. He told me they weren't burnt and that's just how they are. I know the difference between burnt and browned and these were definitely burnt hard on the bottom and inedible. He begrudgingly told me well "I'm sorry but you'd still would have to pay for another order". I don't think that's fair at all so I said "it's fine were ok" I don't wanna give this company any more of my money anyway if this is how they treat their customers. Lastly, once we were done with our food and paid the check, the man came back to our table and asked us if there was anything he could do for us and how if we enjoyed our meal this felt like a slap in the face after everything I've already asked of him that he refused and denied and being met with a disingenuous offer just felt petty. All in all, I wouldn't go here if you're looking for food that is not burnt Service that is helpful and hospitable. Andexperience that is anything above fast casual dining.

First time I've personally visited Evergreen Panda and I ain't mad…read more My sister and cousin have been returning customers from time to time and with our fam planning a movie night screening of Toy Story 5, we wanted eats that wouldn't require any utensils. Due to my family being a big fan of EP's salt & pepper shrimp so we decided to go with the [very Tik Tok famous] salt & pepper chicken wings. First and foremost, don't even bother trying to call in and place your orders. The staff leaves the line off the hook leaving you with a busy tone FOREVER!!!!!!!!! I kid you not, we made multiple attempts within the span of a couple of hours and each time it was the same. Make the drive, stand in the long line, and verbally place your orders. The parking situation wasn't too bad but the flow of traffic at Evergreen Panda is soooo real. Come patient or go elsewhere. Known primarily for being a Chinese take-out joint, this eatery layout it basic as it comes. You will find a few tables along both sides and the center left bare to house the large crowds standing around to place orders. Food is cooked to each order, ensuring your food to be piping hot. Portions are hefty, food is good, and you aren't spending an arm and a leg. Customer service is hit or miss but try not to take it personally. Come for the food and take the sass on the side as a little bit of entertainment. 4 Stars! The chicken was delicious- crispy, moist, and flavorful. With that said, the seasoning was inconsistent since some wings were left a lot saltier than others. Nothing a nice heaping of rice won't fix. I'd definitely come back.

Lots of grilled onions and jalapeños on the crispy wings. Salt and pepper fish is very similar but with fried fish if you prefer fish. I got the walnut shrimp and it is on the citrus side but still solid. Crispy as well. The HK style chowmein had good gravy sauce on it and went well with the crispy noodles. Good portions here. Service may seem rude but gets everything done. Restaurant waiting area was hot inside.

We walked in right at opening to a completely empty dining room. Instead of leaving, we browsed the menu and ordered XLB, pot stickers, jelly fish, and pea sprouts (my personal fav) so glad we didn't leave! The XLB are a nice size, with each precious dumpling cradled in its own foil wrapper for maximum soup retention. The potstickers were full of flavor, packed with protein, delicately wrapped, and had the crispiest, golden bottoms! Jelly fish was fresh and the pea sprouts were a hit! The poor owner answering the phones made sure (in all languages) to inform folks calling in that there were a different May Flower than the other place-felt terrible for her but also understood the importance of differentiating right up front. I can only imagine the number of misorders they have probably dealt with. By the time we were done, the dining room was filled with a mix of what seemed like regulars, locals, large groups of families, small groups of friends... this feels like we stumbled upon a tiny hole in the wall restaurant where everyone who has been before just knows the quality and taste they are going to be getting! This is one of the handful of American Chinese restaurants that stood the test of time. As is typical of these places, there was an old lady manning the counter and also acting as the server. We got a couple of dishes and they came out at lightning speed. * Chowmein-3/5- delicious with lots of umami flavor but shockingly greasy. I mean I am used to oily noodles but this one exceeded some limits. *crispy salt and pepper eggplant-3/5- I had a stellar version of this dish at another restaurant in Sunnyvale and was stoked when I saw this on the menu here. Unfortunately it was a poor representation of the dish I loved there. The batter was too much and the dish felt heavy. The hot oil or sauce they had felt old and extremely vinegary as well, I would recommend avoiding it.
