The large #1 combo sandwich $9.49 at Lee's comes with red coloring dye on the meat that transfers onto the bread. It is a thin sandwich on a french baguette. Good flavors overall. Shorter sandwiches are available for $5. They don't have the styrofoam plate food with saran wrap selection like they use to. It was only a few plates by the cashier. Spotted Lee's Sandwiches while driving down the street! My daughter just tried one of the Los Angeles locations last weekend and said we had to stop! It's a smaller spot and filled with foods. She ordered the #12 - Veggie Sandwich. I wanted to try their coffee (a friend swears it's the best). She recommended the Cafe Sua Da (Vietnamese Iced Coffee). When I ordered the lady at the counter asked "strong or not strong?" I showed her the text of which one I wanted. She said, "oh, the strong one!" A few minutes later I got my drink. They use the small ice (my favorite). The coffee was super super sweet! Too sweet! I don't think she thought I could handle the strong. Came to get a sinh tô đầu because I was craving my childhood drink! Tasted exactly how I remembered, made w/ condensed milk. The only thing was I had asked for pearls (which I hope everyone can agree translates to honey boba) to which they gave me crystal boba. The bottom of my cup was clear so it was obvious that it was crystal boba and not black honey boba. I kindly told them I ordered pearls as in honey boba. The workers talked to each other, went to the back kitchen, and came out with my corrected drink. They ended up keeping the crystal boba and mixing it with honey boba syrup and putting it back in my drink? Gavin and I were not eating meat and wanted to come here to enjoy a vegetarian banh mi before heading to the hockey store. The store is not as big as the one off of Berryessa Rd. There were 2.5 tables available, but they were all dirty. I didn't want to dine in, but it was either there or the car. I didn't want my car to be dirty and I didn't want to have crumbs all over (if we were to eat on the car). The gentleman helping us was soft-spoken and friendly. He smiled at us a few times and did not rush any customers. There was a customer in front of me that took forever, but he was never rushed. I witnessed the same as I was getting up to get my coffee and our order. Lines can be long, but just got to be patient and wait our turn. I think Lee's changed their banh my preparation. The pickled daikon and carrots were cut julienne, but they were thick. I did not enjoy the thickness because it wasn't crunchy, it was still hard. We took most of it out unfortunately. What the hell happened here? Literally been coming here for decades, never had any issues. I came in today to grab a sandwich to go and it looks like a bomb went off in the place. Either they're doing a crazy remodel or they're storing the fixtures from a closed store in what used to be the seating area. It's a mess. I was the only customer in the place and the woman working the counter was having a phone conversation. Since she was speaking in Viet, I couldn't tell if it was business or personal, but at no time did she write anything down or punch anything into the computer. This went on for 10 minutes. Seems like it would have been easy enough just to put the call on hold for a second, so the other woman working (who is making the sandwiches) had something to do. I waited and waited and waited...then a Doordash driver came in and she dropped everything to take care of him. What's with that? Slippage here has been going on a while now. It's two bucks extra for a croissant on a breakfast sandwich, and a dollar or two extra for things like extra jalapenos that would have been free now all that long ago. Lee's was both good and cheap. Seem's like Lee's can be a hit or miss, that can be annoying, but this station is a hit! I was in the area with my mom, and we got some Mexican food at La Plaza and stopped by to pick up a coffee. This location seems clean and up to date with food and ingredients and fresh too, glad that I had a chance to stop by for some coffee. I put in a to go order and the cashier was friendly and prompt. So word on the street is if you are in San Jose you have to have a sandwich from this place. So of course it was on my list to try. The chicken sandwich is to die for. It's pretty large so if you aren't hungry and there are two of you I suggest splitting it. While I had chicken there is pork and I think beef too. You can request extra meat. We stopped by for a quick banh mi after seeing that the banh mi place we typically go to right next door had a super long wait. We grabbed a grilled pork sandwich but there are a large variety of snacks and food to go. The banh mi was good but the pork was a bit tough, almost like cha siu rather than the sliced grilled pork that I'm used to in banh mi. Every Lee's Sandwich I ever had, has always tasted delicious, especially the ones they make on Story Rd. The chill atmosphere plus the smell of fresh baked baguettes, you can't beat that. Decent ; I prefer the one on King Rd. Came around 10am and they didn't have much food out - perhaps they were prepping it ? I saw the rice was warm in the container. Anyway I ordered a baguette, 3 small banh mi , cafe sua da, and sugarcane drink. I specifically asked for warm/ hot bread cause thats something I 've learned to so since I was younger . The one on king is always crowded so they always have fresh bread. Anyway, she didn't give me my 3 banh mi and noticed she didn't charge me so I told her (speaking in vietnamese as well. I ordered the grilled pork banh mi. It was lacking the flavors of vietnamese lemongrass grilled pork. It was more like boiled or baked meat. The meat was also not the proper cut and texture; it was irregular strips, more like that of char sui style minus the flavors. It was not tender and Juicy like the grilled pork meat that is usually in slices. It was just salty, no aromatic seasonings. It was $7.49, which is already too expensive for mediocre banh mi. I was surprised that the man at the register charged me an additional 70 cents for "tax", which was not charged at the Lee's sandwich shop (Lee's Supermarket) on Senter Road. Since it's under new management, I can see that he's being cheap and nickel-ing and dime-ing people. It's a chain banh mi store, so I expect consistency in pricing as well as quality of ingredients. I will not be ordering from the Story Road location anymore. In fact, there are so many mom and pop banh mi shops out there that I should try instead of this place. read more
