    Banh mi bi chay

Sandwiches are still great, taste is still good. But recently I decided to get a little wild and opted for the more expensive banh mi by getting crispy pork instead of my usual. On the yelp menu, it's about a $1 more so in the moment I figured it wasn't a big deal going for it. I previously had the crispy pork banh mi in SoCal and it was deliciousssss, so when I saw Banh mi oven offered it I decided to try it. Again, I love Banh mi oven and I think their sandwiches still taste really good. BUT as a regular customer, i was very disappointed in their crispy pork. It wasn't crispy, it was really chewy. I've had a crispy pork belly sandwich ordered for me before, waited for me for 2 hours and it was still crispy. Not only was banh mi oven's not crispy, but I paid an extra dollar to only receive 3 pieces of pork belly :( if I paid a dollar less for one of the other sandwiches, I'm sure it would've been filled. when I first bit into my sandwich, I still thought it was delicious because I love pate, viet mayo, pickled carrots daikon, cilantro and jalapeños lol butttttt then I realized I didn't bite into any meat. I was waiting for that crispy crunchy satisfaction and juicy tender meat. I opened up my sandwich and saw those 3 sad soggy little pieces of pork belly :,) fairly, I felt disappointed. It did make me think, I'm probably going to stop going to banh mi oven. Right now the one thing that puts it over the other neighboring banh mi places is the fact that they do online orders. I have a problem when it comes to talking to ppl :) so out of comfort and anxiety relief, I appreciate the choice to order online. My advice, don't fix what's not broken. Whatever type of meat you like from a certain restaurant, stick to it. I will most likely go back to my regular order from banh mi oven but not for awhile. I'm going to give them time to figure out their groove since their move. I was also not okay with the fact that when I walked into the store, there was open boxES of baguettes. Immediately wondered if it was old bread being thrown away or bread that was shipped to the store... either way, I feel like bread shouldn't be left in open boxes by an open door??

I love banh mi!! My BFF brought me here when I had a super craving for a sammy! I got the B17. Fried tofu sandwich and he got the teriyaki chicken sandwich. They were hot, fresh, ready, even at 8:30pm on a Sunday night! Ambiance is giving my Auntie's kitchen vibes and it is cozy on the patio! I love the Minion with the sandwich statue, so charming! I definitely recommend coming here and supporting small businesses

    Pork terrain with egg

I wouldn't recommend coming here. The egg isn't even an egg. The eggs taste like hotel breakfast egg where it comes out of a carton. Honestly thought this place would have been good but they literally forgot the pickle daikon which I was most excited for. The prices are more expensive than others. Should have went to duc houng. :(

I ordered the small size Char Siu pork banh mi, but unfortunately was disappointed. I will say for the price, it was a pretty good size, as the roll itself is small, but they stuff the roll very full so it ends up being plenty! The char siu pork did not have enough char siu flavor for me and tasted more like a salt and pepper pork. I also wished there was more veggies versus meat, as it was like 90% meat, 10% veggies. My banh mi also did not have any jalapeños or daikon, so it was only the carrot and minimal cilantro and cucumber. I do appreciate how many banh mi options this place had so everyone would be able to find something they'd like, but I have had better.

My family loves a good bánh mì and the bánh mì here are exceptionally good. I love that you can place your order online and customize each sandwich as you please. The variety of sandwiches you can choose from is insane. You can order familiar favorites or try something completely new. While everyone in my family stuck to the more traditional bánh mìs, I ordered the ham and cheese sandwich ($11) because what better way to enjoy a ham and cheese than to eat it in a baguette. The sandwich comes with ham, a fried egg, egg mayo, soy sauce + pepper. I just really love eating eggs in a baguette and the egg mayo or aioli + soy sauce just made it that much better. They bake their bread in house and it's a damn good baguette - chewy soft inside with a nice crusty exterior. We ordered for a big group and all the sandwiches were hits. Plus you basically get a foot long baguette for ten dollars. In fact, it's so substantial that you can split a sandwich between two people. Highly recommend getting a sandwich from here if you're looking for a quick and easy meal.

I have been craving delicious Bánh Mi sandwich and I have found my spot. Menu has lots of different sandwiches that come in 2 sizes. I got the small pork banh mi with everything for $5. It was very delicious sandwich. My only complaint is that they don't have regular drinks like water and soda. They only have specialty Vietnamese drinks

I enjoyed my meal from here. We ordered in a group, and since everybody had different vegetable preferences, we got the veggies on the side. The restaurant packaged everything up generously and securely in plastic bags and paper wrappers. I got the grilled pork banh mi I'm a half size, which was quite sizeable especially when bulked up with veggies. I really liked the meat texture and flavor. The bread was good, but not the freshest that I've ever had. I'd definitely come back - the price, quality, and portions are all solid. I love the option to do a half sandwich, and online ordering is easy.

Got a grilled pork banh mi. It was pretty mediocre. Super bready, and the bread was not particularly fresh. $10.95 (with tax, using cash) makes it one of the most expensive banh mis in the area. Can't say I recommend. Service is good!

I am always looking for new places to try banh mi, and since I am in San Jose, why not? I went to a place called Banh Mi Oven. What I noticed was that this place makes its pate and mayo. Not only that, the bread was fresh. When I went in the mid-afternoon, only one person was working, and it was a good thing it was slow. It is also like a small store selling some chill oil and snacks.

This place is a great choice if you're looking for a filling meal with good flavor and a reasonable price. However, please note that it's only suitable for takeout. As a vegetarian, I appreciate that they have more than one Banh Mi option, and to be honest, both that I tried had quite a bit of flavor. The venue is tiny but well-lit, clean, and staffed with welcoming people. I savored a grilled string tofu Banh Mi in a small size featuring marinated string tofu and egg mayo. I also had a small char siu string tofu Banh Mi, which included sweet red BBQ string tofu and egg mayo. I will come back to explore more of its menu.

Waited 30 mins to find out that you have to give them the receipt after you order on the kiosk. Apparently I wasn't the only one this happened to since many people were asking for the status of their order. Such a bad user experience. Totally missed that little note next to the printer. Like what's the point of self-serve if you have to give them the receipt after? No one does this that offers kiosk ordering.

The matcha was not as strong to balance the sweetness and decadency of the cream. We ended up letting it melt a bit so we can drink the matcha without having to eat chunks of the cream. If you like your matcha thick, then I recommend this drink! It was just not up my alley unfortunately.

I think price might be the only sticking point. The che is about 50% more expensive than Bambu or other Vietnamese dessert spots. I can absolutely see why their products are more expensive and totally think the quality of their dessert drinks surpass Bambu or similar dessert cafes. At the same time I have to acknowledge that I can order a che ba mau at another dessert spot and have my craving satisfied for less money. I liked that menu was extensive. Besides shaved ice, they also had boba, tea, ice cream, and taiyaki. We waited maybe around 10 minutes for our order. We checked out a couple of games available near the front for customers to borrow. We shared one large mango cheesecake shaved ice and one medium Biscoff shaved ice. Mango cheesecake - This was AMAZING. My first bite tasted like heaven. The flavors worked together so well and the cheesecake wasn't overly sweet. The mangoes were ripe and sweet. Biscoff shaved ice - I enjoy Biscoff in general, but this didn't compare to the mango cheesecake at all. It was too sweet and more icey/watery. Chamomile tea drink -This paired nicely with the cold desserts. It was warm and refreshing at the same time. I almost never order nor see chamomile tea on menus so this was cool. One note: there was a water station available, but the cups were SO small. Maybe 2-3 gulps of water per cup. I wish they were bigger. Overall, I enjoyed coming here for dessert after our big dinne I think this is a nice addition to the Campbell.

I enjoyed my durian desserts. It was good, I'm not a fan of a lot of jellies in my drinks. I liked how it was made with coconut milk, durian, and jellies. I just would like my drink to be thicker and less jellies. But, it was still delicious. My sis ordered a Milo drink and wasn't a fan of it. My other sis got a strawberry matcha. She had no complaints. My mom enjoyed her taro dessert but wasn't a fan of the taro, durian, and salted egg. I thought it was overly sweet for my taste. We ordered extra drinks to offer to the monks (there were more than I expected)..oops! It was a warm day and we were all excited to be there. It was overall a great day and to have a place that was had unique Vietnamese drinks was a plus!

Is Izumi matcha worth the hype?…read more I have been to Izumi matcha over ten times at this point and remember first trying it in their original location in the silver creek area of San Jose before the matcha boom. Prior this place was unique and delicious, and really hit a spot. I believe that now with the various matcha spots around, it may not have as much as of unique selling point. Their tornado matcha is good and sweet, and is a great dessert however in my personal opinion, their traditional drinks are not standouts. Last week I went with a friend and ordered a matcha oat latte with a double shot, and while I tasted the matcha, it was grainy and didn't really have any depth. I wouldn't say I would avoid going here, for a matcha option and to get caffeinated for the day. It is still an option but I feel like it wouldn't be fair to say it's worth driving over 30+ minutes here. As a note too, this location can get extremely busy in terms of parking! The plaza is popping with heavy hitters. Service was fine as they do the self service kiosk with pick up being less than 5 minutes (no big lines), and the store itself is small with no seating outside but plenty of plaza seating outside.

Each drink is hand-whisked, so well worth the wait. Their cold foams were delicious and super flavorful as well. I was so excited to try the mango sticky rice matcha, as I hadn't seen this flavor anywhere else. The drink has a creamy salted coconut milk cold foam on top and some mango puree and glutinous rice on the bottom. Once everything was mixed, the mango flavor does get lost unfortunately. But still, the drink was amazing and rich. The guava li-hing matcha was sooo vibrant! I loved how the tropical flavor of the guava cold foam sprinkled with li-hing balanced out the earthy matcha. I've tried other guava matchas with guava puree on the bottom rather than cold foam on top, but I definitely prefer the latter to preserve the matcha flavor. The employees were kind and we came on a weekday afternoon with a short wait. Order at a kiosk. Limited seating inside. I wouldn't say this is an ideal study spot, but it is very aesthetic and bright. Parking was not a problem since this location is in a plaza.

I wish the mango sticky rice flavor came through a bit more, since you only really taste hints of the coconut and mango toward the end.
