My husband has been raving about King's Burger for a while. Nearly a his Sunday ritual for him getting a burger there for lunch. I proposed to try the place, and we dropped in the mom's and pop's spot on a weeknight. There's a time and place for a gourmet burger, and other times a good ol' classic burger just hits. King's Burger is that good ol' classic. I appreciated the toasted bun and flavorful patty. I also liked that they didn't dress it up, so I added as much ketchup and mustard to you heart's content. My favorite is the teriyaki chicken sandwich (closest approximation I've found to the legendary one at the now defunct Mission Burger in Fremont), accompanied by the fresh and crispy fries. Right near Emma prusch park, convenient to grab a bite after taking my toddler there. Got the number 1 king burger combo and a kids meal the chicken nugget with fries and milk. The staff were very friendly with my son. We ordered the food to go. Everything was made fresh. The burger includes mayo and they have ketchup packets on the side. The ketchup is better than Heinz ketchup, not too sharp. The burger was fresh and tasty. It was a hefty size so we were full after. I've been here more than a dozen times and probably a few more times when I was a little kid. Forget all of the fancy places with a chef. This is a fast food restaurant that's friendly and you'd want to be there. Is there any food that isn't fried or grilled? I don't think so. This is one of my three favorite places to eat in San Jose. I got the fish sandwich combo this time, but they also have another fish sandwich on the hoagie roll, but that doesn't include fries, and then, there are the fish & chips. Hot! Hot! Hot! I forgot to wait to start eating. Other places, the food might let one part of your order sit while the other part is being finished. Here, they serve it hot at the same time. It's a good thing but be careful. Once I recovered my burning taste buds, the food was so good. The fries are a big darker than I like but they taste right. The fish was good and there was a good-sized portion. Every time I sit there, I think of how they must have added the exterior walls and made an indoor seating area. The employees who work here are super nice!!! The taste is the same as when I came here when I was younger. Of course prices went up but that's normal. The food still tastes the same. I usually get the teriyaki chicken number 14 with no salad sub for fries instead. I recently tried their fried chicken and it was good. I think the prices here are good. If you order one of their combo it basically comes with the plate + a drink. If I want to splurge i'll get the number 14, 2 spam masubi, and a side of fried chicken. This is a pivotal local restaurants that I will always come back to. It really takes you back to the 90's and 2000's being in this restaurant. Everyone in the restaurant was friendly and they had that classic dinner tables. My favorite item to get is the chicken teriyaki sandwich. The food is MASSIVE and the teriyaki is more of the savory than sweet teriyaki sauce which fits my preference. The fries are crispy and comes in huge amounts. Another side I got was the onion rings. Delicious! Tasted "fresh" & flavorful. I was super surprised about how good the burger was, I was expecting a mediocre one at best but the bacon burger was juicy and cooked to perfection. French fries were crispy, light & plentiful, the onion rings also had a nice crisp. Banana milkshake was alright, reminded me of the artificial laffy taffy, so next time I'll probably try the strawberry or chocolate. Came on a Saturday for lunch and were able to find parking in the lot in the back. It wasn't too busy, there were a few people in front of us in line and we waited about 15 min after ordering for our food. We got the king's burger and the bacon combo, and upgraded the fries to cheese fries. The menu only shows combos, but you can ask to just get a burger without fries or a drink. Out of the two burgers, the bacon one was definitely better - it had a lot more flavor and sauce, the regular burger was still good but felt a little plain in comparison. The fries themselves are okay, but they add a ton of cheese to the fries so definitely getting your moneys worth. In all honesty it made the place feel a bit dirty too, we were also bothered by files the entire time when eating. I got the double combo. I didn't particularly want a drink but it came with it anyways. The burger itself was quite good, the 2 patties were very rich and juicy. I did think the rest of the burger was a bit dry, could have used some sauce inside. The crinkle fries were decent. A good crunch to them. I was not too impressed. Maybe I just came on a bad day. I ordered the regular fries and a basic burger. The fries were about 4/5 of the size of the bag and the burger seemed not much bigger than a flattened hockey puck. Their receipt did not itemise the items I ordered. It came out to over $11 which made the little burger well over $6 though the listed price was about $5.69. And that is not mentioning they possibly needed to change the oil they cooked the fries in. Yeah I finally tried this place after years of driving past it. I always thought it was a rip off of Burger King as a kid but didn't realize that it's actually a hole-in-the-wall local burger spot. This place is more than just a burger spot. It's run by a Vietnamese family, and they have many fusion items, such as Asian inspired sandwiches like the Teriyaki Beef sandwich, as well as straight up rice plates like their Teriyaki Chicken Rice Plate. You can also get Egg Rolls here lol. The burgers themselves are quite good. They remind me of the mom & pop spots I used to eat at in Berkeley such as Smokehouse and Bongo Burger. They're fresh off the grill, much fresher than any fast food chain, and you can definitely taste that smoky sizzling flavor. The fries here are average, par for the course for a local spot. I also tried the Teriyaki Beef sandwich. It was on a baguette which instantly reminded me of a Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwich. The Beef was nice and sweet, but not the most tender. You could tell that it was a cheaper cut of steak, but overall, the sandwich was still nice. I'd probably stick to the burgers though. I haven't tried their rice plates yet, but I do plan to return to try them. It's just so fascinating to me that a burger spot also serves Asian rice plates lol. The prices here are quite reasonable. It's cheaper than getting a full combo at many fast food spots, given the recent inflation. It actually reminds me a lot of Juicy Burger on Blossom Hill, cheap and run by Asians. Parking here kinda sucks though, as it's in a somewhat sketchy neighborhood. The traffic here sucks as well, coming in and out of here was a bit dicey. I finally had an opportunity to drive down to San Jose after a long day of errands (including a smog check) yesterday, and I looked through my Google Maps "Want to go" restaurants that I saved, and happened upon King's Burger from watching this video 3 months ago. I made the drive on my newly repaired car to keep testing the starter I replaced by myself earlier that morning, and man, was the drive worth it. I drove back home and tried that #4 burger, and dang, the piles of hot meat and melted cheese, that juice and grease really satisfied my errand hunger!
