I ordered the chick'n sando (mild not spicy), with a side of ranch and a side of chubby's sauce, from this food truck at the Gordon Biersch Night Market last week. It took five minutes to be ready, and service was standard and sufficient. The chubby's sauce was a bit sour for my taste, and the ranch was fine, better than hidden valley brand. The chicken was tasty and spicy for me (even though I only selected mild), but it was thick and not as tender as I would have liked. I also would have preferred just a single slider, but the truck menu was not consistent with the online menu. That said, I had a positive experience.
Exactly a year later and I was craving for some Chubby's Chicken. I was pleased knowing that their food is still yummy and portion size is food. I would say a was a bit disappointed with the chicken having a dark day old oil color & not that golden light crispy fresh look. Hence the reason for the 5 star to the 4 star. The chicken was still moist and fries were crispy. Definitely will continue to recommend this food truck.
The heat level here is no joke! "Spicy" was not the hottest, there was a level above called "death" and one even higher than that. For some reason this made me think spicy level was more medium heat but spicy was definitely HOT, only my wife and I could eat it though we did give the kids a little bite to help train them. 3 Giant Wings: This was SO hot it had me coughing and eating with a runny nose after 2 bites. I'm not sure whats in their dry seasoning but it was strong! The wings are monstrous size and well worth the price, my wife said she only had wanted wings so I got this as a bonus for her though in the future I would get it mild, I ended up having to eat all 3. Kids meal slider: spicy fried chicken with coleslaw in a small bun and fries. This was originally what I was going to get for dinner, the spice is much easier to handle in between the buns and it was perfect for me as a bit too filling adult meal
Went to the Chubby's Chickn food truck at Fremont street eats in May 2025. The line was long, but food came out in a reasonable time, about 15 min after ordering. Portions are HUGE! The chicken sando (5/5) was huge, not dry, and flavorful. The coleslaw and pickles are that good bite of freshness necessary in the heaviness of a chicken sandwich. The combo ($17) was a good deal for the sandwich and waffle fries.
If you attend an event and this turquoise truck is there, don't think twice, do it! I ordered the sliders (2) with half order waffle fries and asked for the trimmings on the side so I can share with my toddler. Had to order no spice and I was amazed and how much food it was. The fried chicken batter has a sweet after taste, almost like brown sugar, and the meat was juicy and tender but not greasy. The buns were a mild version of the Hawaiian buns and were toasted on the inside but soft and pillowy on the outside. The cole slaw had fresh pepper and I loved that it didn't taste like mayo, you can actually taste the cabbage. Their sauce is your standard mayo sriracha and the waffle fries were seasoned and delicious. The service was friendly and the wait wasn't too bad considering they make everything fresh. I saw they offer vegetarian and Halal options but I didn't try them this time. My husband went with their traditional sandwich medium spicy and he loved it. He did say the spicy kicked in after swallowing and had a building effect so beware of the extreme spicy levels! Can't wait to try this place again!
I saw this truck at a food fair and we decided to try out the chicken sandwich! Reasonable priced at $14 and +$3 if you want to add fries. We got the sandwich at spicy level "spicy" and it was made from ghost pepper or habanero. The worker said the pepper changes based on the spice level. I usually like my food pretty spicy and I would give the sandwich spice level a 5/10 that built to 7/10. The chicken was juicy tender and flavorful! I was able to split this with my bf and we were decently full. I'd get it again if I passed by!
Very happy with this food truck! Was attending the local Water Lantern festival and I was hungry for dinner around 6:30 pm! Their food truck had no line and I was taken care of. I ordered their chicken slider combo for around $18 and it was a fast turnaround of 5 minutes. Great service with great food! The waffle fries were crispy and delicious. The chicken sliders were soft, crunchy, and seasoned well. Would definitely order from here again.
I tried this new food truck for lunch and wanted something different today. I tried their Nashville friedchicken which is their signature dry rub. Delicious! It's probably the first using a dry rub instead of using a wet sauce. But they marinade their chicken to be moist and tender after being fried. Also highly recommend their ranch because its a superb dipping sauce. Their slightly spicy aioli is meh. Customer service is fast and bustling busy. Great service here too. I would come back again.

They were posted by Silver Creek plaza today, and it's by a Chickfila. I paid just a little more to have a better spicy chicken sandwich experience. Waffle fries and actually spicy chicken.

Service was friendly, and the wait for the food was a little longer than expected (10-15 minutes), but not bad at all. When it did come out, I was shocked at the massive portion size. I had to basically cradle the to-go box like a baby, as the lid was popping open. Definitely enough food for 2 meals! The Hot Chick'n Sando was tasty and incredibly filling. I liked that the mild seasoning still had a lot of flavor to it. However, the breading on the chicken was a lot thicker and greasier than I usually prefer. Waffle fries also aren't my typical go-to, so I only ended up eating a handful of these. However, I really liked the Chubby's Sauce, with tasted like spicy aioli. Overall, great value if you're looking for something indulgent.
We got the loaded fries with medium spice from their food truck. It was delicious! The chicken was crispy and the fries had excellent seasoning as well. The medium spice was a good balance--not too spicy and not too mild. I for sure know I won't trying the "Mega Death" level spice any time soon!

Food 4 / 5 Service 4 / 5 Ambiance N/A We were coming home after a late soccer practice and I was not feeling like making dinner. Fortunately for me and my kids Chubby's was visiting Spruce Apts that night. My kids have their favorite chicken tenders in the area, one holds Dave's as the high bar and the other one swears by Angry Chx. One got the medium and the other one got the hot spice level. They each enjoyed the tenders, but compared to the favorites gave them 3.5 / 5 . It seemed like it really boiled down to the sauce on the side, which none of us were enthusiastic about. Tender themselves were crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. I had the sandwich at a medium spice level. I give it a solid 4 and they thought that the wall was a perfect match for the chicken, and the bun was lightly toasted and flavorful. It all get the fries a solid 4.5 /5 They were right on par with our favorites. They were super crispy and still retained a soft inside, which makes me guess that they were twice fried similar to how they do at Five Guys. The service was fine. They were efficient and polite, but to be honest given how slow they were I expected a little bit of banter or some other way for them to try to drum up regular customers. All and all, we would definitely get their food again. read more

Really happy they are in a safer neighborhood! I finally tried it after for so many years. Frankly, I was a little apprehensive to go to their previous location. Ordered their Nashville chicken sandwich, hot level and it was spicy, so be prepared!!!! If you like spicy, this is perfect level for you! The buns were a little dry but overall, pretty good! I had chubby's chikn at the night market at DeAnza as a food truck. I was pretty excited for this as I had seen it at other night markets and it was on my list for a while. The line was a bit long, but all the lines at the market were long so it's reasonable. When we got to the front I inquired about the mega death spice. Having done other spicy challenges I thought it was reasonable. I tried a sample and didn't die. Well after having 5 bites I pretty much died. Lots of pain, but the chicken itself was pretty juicy! The fried skin tastes good and is consistent with other hot chicken I've had. It wasn't as juicy as the best that I've had which is why I have to give it 4/5, but overall it's worth a try for sure! read more

I love fried chicken but I try to limit myself on the frequency I have it, and I typically tend to my friend chicken bookmarks overflowing! This place was long overdue on the list, and it's a little far from where I live in Mountain View, but I decided to place the online order and make the drive. I've actually tried this place twice now. The first time, I went with the level 4 spice (death) of the Nashville Hot Chicken Sando combo (not halal) and it was extremely spicy, mind you. Way spicier than you will get a level 4 at any other friend chicken place. I can tolerate a lot of spice, I typically go with the highest level at most restaurants (Thai, Nashville chicken and others) and can handle it, but this was something else. I needed to have a lot of water through my meal and still had to eat slowly to finish. I really liked the chicken itself, but without the discomfort of the spice, it might've been even better. The waffle fries were good, crispy, and not too oily. Liked their signature sauce too. The second time, I went down a level in spice (3 - spicy) and thought it wasn't as spicy as the first time. There seemed to be a stark difference between the 3 and the 4, maybe it was just inconsistency? The people in the truck making it were different the second time vs the first, so it could be due to that. The first time, I was warned about choosing the death. The second time, I got the halal chicken and overall felt the food wasn't as good. Even the fries seemed more oily. So I'm not sure. I would say 3.5 stars for the food, but I'm rounding off to 4 for now. I'll give them another try, I hope they can improve the consistency of the food. They do take 20 odd minutes to make the food and I had to wait a few minutes on reaching. There are a handful of parking spots and it is not too busy. I'd recommend starting at a lower level of spice and then going up the next time, if it's not too spicy for you. And order ahead of time before you pick up the food. There's some space to stand and eat but no tables. read more
I dont normally go for chicken sandwiches when i have an opportunity not to. Its usually sort of dry, bland, and not very filling. Chubby's changed all that. Better than ChikFilA. I get a medium spicy sando with fries. Its a HUGE Chunk of chicken and seasoned nicely. Matched with their cole slaw and sauce, its now my favorite chicken sando! Its a food truck and across the street from Lil Saigon in the old Cafe Da Thao parking lot. It can be a bit sketch to stand in that lot and eat but its delicious regardless. I love eating in the lot just because the freshly made sandwich is WAAY better than taking it to go to eat in comfort anywhere else. Id rather just stand there awkwardly eating fresh sando. Coworkers and I were excited about trying this food truck. Four of us excitedly rushed to be one of the first in line. I noticed on the window they had posted 10% off for yelp reviews and check-in. Of course I checked in . On showing him the check in, I found that no one on the truck knew how to give the actual 10% discount. So I was given a free Beverage. Truly disappointing... Undercooked chicken, oil soaked french fries and lacking flavor. I actually got the veggie plant-based tenders, i'm vegetarian and pretty familiar with a lot of the plant-based products not sure which one this was but have somewhat of a odd flavor, but a good texture. read more
Recommend that you order ahead online because it takes about 10 minutes to make. We've tried many a hot chicken sandwich all around the Bay Area. My hubs likes the hottest spice, all the time, no matter which chicken spot we hit up. Well looks like he met his match. I ordered the mega death for him "because he was curious." Some fools make you sign a waiver. Here, all the guy said was, have you ever tried it? And I said, no...it's for my husband. He said, there's a lot of Carolina reaper and ghost pepper, and said nothing more. Flash forward to hubs trying the mega death sandwich. He cut off just a tiny piece of the chicken, and ate it. Face turned stoic. He commented that "it was a sneaker." Then he immediately started hiccuping. Then he made a beeline for the fridge and unfortunately we're not a milk drinking household so he poured some almond milk. Did not work. He drank some lemonade. Said "oh my god" about a half dozen times. Commented that he never ate something so spicy since that one time at that wings place in college (like 20 years ago). He ended up cutting off the skin so that he could eat the rest of the sandwich, else it would be inedible. I had the unfortunate luck of having some of the dust rub off in my sandwich, and I can personally attest to the spice although i actually didn't ingest it. It numbed my lips, I'll say that! Other than that, hubby commented that the chicken was so juicy. I enjoyed the unique ranch dip that came with the chicken tenders, and the sweet pickles were delightful! Long story short, this place broke my husband. He loves spicy food, but he has met his match. read more
I stumbled upon this food truck at the 626 Night Market at the Alameda Fairgrounds. The staff was nice and very helpful, it was a nice day to have a chicken sandwich. I ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken Combo but I got no spicy. I should've got some spice because the chicken was super crispy but the batter was kind of hard and dry to my liking. It was a huge piece of chicken, lacked a little bit of flavor but I think that was my fault for not actually getting it spicy! I'll definitely try it again if I ever see this truck! read more
