Making ramen like near Han river in Seoul.

Service is efficient and the chickens are tasty. Personally the original crunchy is the best. Yangyum version is intentionally over fries a bit to prevent soggy chicken so it's really a matter of preference. Ramen stations are a neat addition. We did not try it but it was fun to try in Korea outdoors. I'm curious how these will be received by US diners.

I picked up a full chicken order with honey butter. The flavor was great but the quality of the chicken was not that good and too dry. The lady at the counter was super nice and friendly.

This is my favorite Korean fried chicken place for to-go! We make the rice at home, order online and it's usually ready in 15-20 minutes. The crispy yangnyeom chicken (5/5) has great crispness and flavor. The half size is perfect to split between me and my boyfriend. We also like to get half medium and half mild sauces because the medium is a bit too spicy and the mild balances it out well. I've always eaten to-go so that's how I'd recommend you guys do it too :)

Fresh fried chicken wings? Great to have as a meal or bring to parties. Food I ordered the following via Yelp through GrubHub: B. Crispy Fried Chicken Full E. Crispy Fried Chicken with Cheddar Full Sweet Potato Fries with ranch dip The total was about $99 USD and was easily shareable for a group of people. The order was piping hot and ready before the quoted pick up time. I ordered the Crispy Fried Chicken with a medium spice level and it had a nice kick to it. The Crispy Fried Chicken with Cheddar Full was very crispy, flaky, and crunchy. It had a lot of the cheddar seasoning - which was amazing! The cheddar seasoning reminds me of the Velveeta macaroni dried cheese packets, but much better. The Sweet Potato Fries portions were a bit on the smaller side. It would've been nice if the box was filled considering it's $4.50 for each order. Customer Service The staff was very friendly and quick with gathering my order for pick up. Overall, I would definitely recommend trying it if you haven't already.

Vons Special, Hot, Half Combo 1

Vons offers both fried and roasted chicken as well as some Korean side dishes like tteokbokki. You order and pay at the counter, but the food is brought out to your table and they bus the table. They provided food safe gloves which was really convenient for eating the saucy chicken. I've never been offered this before and now I'm not sure I'll be able to eat chicken again without it, haha. We ordered two "half" size combo 1 and a side, and this turned out to be a lot of food. A "wing" here is either a flat or drumette (i.e. 2 "wings" is a full wing), while a "drum" here is actually the leg drumstick. Each half combo 1 was 4 wings and 3 drums. We liked the Hot Vons Special sauce which had a good kick to it without being overwhelming. The Crispy Real Garlic flavor was much sweeter than we were expecting and we probably won't get this one again. However, we liked how crispy the fried chicken was -- we'll try a different flavor next time. The Sodduck (So-Tteok) was fine, but nothing special. The chicken portion was larger than we expected, so we probably wouldn't order a side next time.

The deals here are crazy good! Each combo plate costs $12.99 and it was more than enough food for me. I got the 3 Drum combo with steamed rice and boy was it good. The drums were huge and the soy glaze on the chicken was perfect. Some places drench their chicken in sauce which makes the flavor overpowering, but Vons puts the perfect amount of sauce on their chicken. They even threw in an extra wing for my order! The service was quick and we got our food in about 5-7 minutes after ordering. The seating inside was super clean and eating in the store was a great experience!

Went in on a weekday 12:30pm, completely empty. Ordered the lunch special for $13.99 which turned out amazing! Perfect for a quick lunch. Chicken was crispy and had a little kick. Kimchi fried rice didn't really have much kimchi but still tasted good. I would go back if I am in the area again.

Visiting here for the second time and no bleach smell this time! Went with a friend for dinner and the service was fast with a lot of to-go orders coming in and out as we waited for our chicken to be served. What I ordered: Honey Butter/Cheese Chicken Wings- very interesting dry rub combination that was sweet and complimented the saltiness of the crispy chicken wings. Thankful that I could order half half to try both flavors. The honey butter was more flavorful because of that nostalgic factor since the flavor profile reminded me of Asian honey butter chips at an Asian supermarket. Would recommend this flavor if you and your party are looking for something new to try and if you prefer dry rub! Better experience than last time! :D

Came into Von's for their awesomely amazing tasting chicken. Once yopu have Von's Korean chicken wings no other chicken will satisfy your wing cravings. Von's chicken is always made fresh and is steaming hot. Their wings have a great outer layer and crispy, crunchy with every bit. You wont be disappointed with this great chicken and wings. I prefer the fried over the baked. The taste is better and the crispyness makes it even better. Will continue to come to Von's chicken when im in the area to satisfy my chicken wing cravings. This location is a bit out of my way, however, I know if I want good tasting chicken wings with a crispy crunch in evry bite this is the place. Im deffinately stopping in when im in the area. Happy eating, CRUNCH. Loved the pop of orangein the interior. Small dinning area but it works.

    3. Half Garlic Chicken E. Crispy Yangnyeom Chicken

Pretty standard fried chicken tossed in sauce (except mine wasn't for some reason). Nothing exciting and pretty expensive. Similar to Wingstop but with Asian flavors and very expensive. I think 20 boneless wings ran me up to around $40. Also similar to Bonchon but not as good. Either would be good alternatives to this chain. The reason why I'm giving 3 stars is because of the garlic powder + maybe cheese thing they gave me on the side. That was good and carried the chicken. Overall nothing special wouldn't go here again but it was fun to try.

    Cheese Buldak
    Austin H.

I got the cheese buldak and I really liked it! We asked if the chicken can come less spicy and they were able to do that for us. There is so much gooey cheese on top. This is supposed to come with rice cakes, but we had a hard time trying to find any -- maybe because it blended in with all of the cheese. The sauce adds a nice punch to the chicken and it was not too overpowering. The portions are big -- you definitely get your money's worth, which is why I'm giving 5 stars! I think one cheese buldak can feed three people, possibly even four people if you eat conservatively. I came here with one other person for a weekday dinner. The store was pretty much empty except for several customers who came in to order takeout, so we were able to find seating easily. You would order and pay first at the counter and sit down to wait for the food to be brought to you. Because of this structure, you kind of need to approach the counter if you need any service. The server we interacted was nice and accommodating. The dining area and restroom was really clean.

Crispy Fried Chicken L3. Six Wings Lunch with Kimchi Fried Rice and sauce on the side
    Naomi N.

i love the chicken wings at Von's, it's more crispy and larger than other places. I always try to go during their lunch special which is Mon-Fri 12-3pm. my go to order is the Crispy Fried Chicken which is their soy garlic chicken with sauce on the side. I usually get mild if i'm not feeling the mood for spice.I always ask for sauce on the side because i feel like they don't put enough sauce on their wings. it's really nice that they give out their sauce on the side unlike other places. This time i decided to try the crispy fried garlic wings, i would say they were pretty good but I would stick to their crispy fried soy garlic chicken because i like the savoriness from the soy sauce . the garlic chicken has the same flavor as the soy garlic but without the soy sauce and more sweet. In my opinion, i would skip out on the kimchi fried rice. I got it and it was very soggy and wet. I was pretty disappointed eating it, it was kind of like mush to me. the rice was probably over cooked or something. I would opt in for the fries instead.

The reason why I came over here fairly recently was because I visited cousins and cousin in law that live near to give them Valkyries shirts and other shirts they'll send to the Philippines in over a month, and since they plan to be sending clothes over while telling me about the place, I gave them my Kate Martin and Kaitlyn Chen jerseys for the trouble as I needed to make room for my Veronica Burton jersey, which I wore when I met up with them, and my upcoming violet Gabby Williams one. (Go Valks!) The noteworthy parts the place has are the real good amount of banchan dishes, bibimbap and the short rib, the spicy one in particular. While I probably will not visit the place again anytime soon, at least I can keep this place in mind if I want Korean food without driving to Santa Clara. There's plenty of parking behind the spot. As you come in, the place looks simple, but it works. You have the adorable ajumma/ajumni to take your order. The stuff I ordered. I had water, banana milk and kimchi fried rice. Since I was the only one that had more than 1 drink, I told my cousins and cousin in law the banana milk, and they did bring up how on occasion, you see the drink in K-dramas. Of course, we laughed on how my parents never got into K-dramas and while I'm at it, Filipino dramas. Oh well. Oh, there's no doubt the food is good, and the place is too legit (to quit) as I did hear Korean from a different table. As I typed up, there are plenty of banchan dishes. Not Los Angeles amount of banchan dishes, but there are plenty of banchan dishes never the less. The kimchi fried rice dish may be simple, but it does give off that homey feel. Can't forget how Big actually is affordable, the big reason why my cousins and cousin in law like the place so much. The reason why the place doesn't get a perfect score. The place would have received a perfect score if, the major matter I remember here, the place has mul naengmyun (my favorite Korean dish). Originally, I wanted Japanese ramen before my cousins mentioned this place, and I was ready to pivot to having mul naengmyun, but I was told that the place doesn't carry the noodle dish. (Being a very good and logical dish to eat for at the very least half of the year in a city like here San Jose is the reason why of all of the Korean dishes, I like mul naengmyun the most.) There probably is one or two minor flaws I already forgot, but the lack of mul naengmyun is the dead on reason why I don't give the place a perfect score. On a side note, it's nice that I told the group what banana milk and mul naengmyun are, and by doing so, they learn something new regarding eating at Korean spots just in case. BigSpoon is a good spot. While it may not be as iconic as the places in Santa Clara, it is a good spot never the less. It does a good job at being a Korean spot for an area that is more so known for Mexican food. If you live on the east side, head on over here because the place should get your attention. +/BigSpoon is brilliant and spiffy because it has a terrific combination of good simple food, affordability and wonderful service. -/If only the place also has mul naengmyun.

I'm glad I did and was definitely delighted by the experience. Hot Stone Bibimbap 5/5: There was a review on Yelp saying that there was no crunchy rice at the bottom and that it was bland. Wait a few minutes and let the rice cook more because the stone bowl is still hot. lift up the bottom until you see crunchy bits and then you could start mixing. Excellent mix of seasoned vegetables and rice. They give you the gochujang bottle sauce on the side. you can adjust it to your level. Soon Tofu Soup 5/5. I've had a lot of tofu soup of what I like about this one is that it had a good balance of tofu, kimchi was not super sour like some restaurants and they give you an egg on the side. Very clean finish. Banchan 5/5: The highlight for me was the banchan. I went with a very picky eater friend and she really loved the kimchi ,the cucumber kimchi ,the fish cakes, japchae. They put a lot of effort into making the banchan - which I recognize right away. They also fill up if you run out and the dishes are larger than normal restaurants. Amazing. You read my mind. Interior 4/5: It is a smaller, more intimate seating.( about 25-30 people) . It still has the vibes of of a Korean eatery with K-pop music playing on the TV screen, wooden benches and chairs. Plenty of tofu and a generous amount of beef. I also loved all the sides they included along with a bowl of rice. Every side dish was delicious, but the kimchi especially stood out. Honestly some of the best kimchi I've had in a long time. The portion was enough for both my daughter and I to share, though that's probably because we're both sick and couldn't eat too much. We waited until 5:20 and they still weren't serving, so we ended up leaving. Our most recent visit was the last straw. They only offered two types of banchan (not even kimchi), and they were out of all dishes that included meat or beef. It was surprising for a Korean restaurant to not have Korean BBQ or short ribs available. My seafood tofu soup barely had any seafood, and I had to point out to the waiter that there was no shrimp at all. He later returned with a cheap frozen seafood mix and said they use a seafood mix, which was disappointing considering the higher quality seafood they used to serve (including head-on shrimp). They also did not serve the usual purple rice this time -- instead we were given dry white rice that seemed reheated. There was only one server handling all the tables and cleaning, so service was slow. It's disappointing because the quality used to be much better. This restaurant was filling up but it really only seemed like 3 or so employees, one waiting tables, one by the counter, and another in the kitchen. Looks like a family run business that could probably use some more hands! We ordered Yookdaejang: Good! I have no complaints about this one. Galbitang: Didn't try any but my wife said it was kind of bland. We went to Kunjip the week before and didn't get to order this, so we were really craving it. It's very good at Kunjip. I was debating just doing a seafood pancake instead. I saw a bunch of other tables have it and it looked thick and crispy. For both soups, it was too much for us so we took them both home and ate it for dinner the following day. Added more noodles to it too, so value wise it kinda worked out. The banchan was good. They ran out of fish cake but I loved the kimchi! Pretty solid for good korean food with no wait - the only wait really was the lack of employees, but sitting and ordering was quick enough.
