This eatery sells Colombian burgers and fast food for pick-up or delivery only, from a building shared with the Center for Employment Training in downtown SJ. This is their current location, but I don't think it's their permanent place of business. Just for the time being. Google maps will take you to a parking lot entrance that's closed, blocked by a chain, so make sure you enter the parking lot on Locust Street. I ordered online, and the wait time was a bit long (20+ minutes) but not terrible. And once you arrive, there's a sign near the parking lot directing you to walk down an alley-like path. No signs at the door, just a dumpster outside. Yup, that's where you pick up. It feels like you're walking through the back door of a restaurant kitchen. Actually when you step inside, it indeed IS the kitchen which doubles as a pickup spot (no seats, no signs, I just showed the guy my order on my phone and he handed me my food packed neatly in a paper bag). I got the perro loco which comes with fries on the side, and an arepa with cheese. I didn't like that customers can't customize items when ordering online for pick up. Also wasn't a fan of the pineapple sauce, though I think that's one of the things they're known for. But the hot dog was still good, generous with the toppings and certainly unique. The sausage was plump and juicy with a mild flavor. The fries were delicious as well, and didn't taste cheap. And the mini arepa with cheese was buttery and had a nice texture. There is a new food hall in San Jose and it's filled with a lot of new businesses. Colombian burgers? Yes please! You can order online or at the kiosk. The menu is extensive with a mix of options (including a vegetarian burger). I ordered El Apto which came with a beef patty, bacon, shredded chicken, lettuce, tomato...all between a brioche bun. This came with fries and a side of pineapple sauce and apto sauce. I dipped my fries in the apto sauce and it was so good! The pineapple sauce goes well in the burger and also on the fries. The beef patty was perfectly seasoned and so juicy. All the flavors were amazing and tasted so fresh. I loved the crispy bacon and the shredded chicken. The chicken was well flavored and they put an ample amount on top of the burger. Wow! What a great combo. I also tried the maracuya (passion fruit) drink and it was so good! I like that it wasn't too sweet. It's fresh and refreshing. They are pretty busy because it's their opening so there might be a wait but it's totally worth it. There are tables around for you to sit so it's casual. The owner is so nice and you can tell he is very proud of his food. Highly recommend!! read more

This is a new Colombian fast food restaurant located inside a food hall, right in the heart of Downtown SJ. Today, I tried the Costeña burger--OMG! My new favorite burger! Instead of bread, it comes with green plantains, which is great because it's gluten-free! The flavors were definitely there. It also comes with shredded chicken, vegetables, adding a delicious touch. We also shared the Montaditos--four small arepas filled with cheese and topped with shredded chicken & corn. They were very flavorful too! As for the service, it was quick! Everything arrived within 10 minutes. I love seeing more Colombian restaurants popping up in San José! read more

It's time to celebrate!! The ladies were downtown SJ to support and celebrate Daniel's new restaurant grand opening, El Apartamento, where we witnessed the ribbon cutting ceremony marking the official opening, we indulged in yummy Colombian inspired foods, cupcakes and sipped on champagne including danced into the night. This venue is a GREAT compliment to downtown SJ restaurants. The venue is bright, open, immaculate with ample seating area to dine & lounge. I cannot say enough about how delicious the food was. I plan to return with family soon to try out other foods. We wish Daniel all the success with his new restaurant and may it continue to thrive for many years. read more

I came here during the Apto Burger inauguration at the SJ Food Hall. The atmosphere was lively with DJ, music and cupcakes! I inadvertently ordered the vegetarian La Amazónica burger (I'm usually a meat eater) but it was a nice surprise and I really liked the lentil patty. They also killed it with the garlic mushrooms. The Apto sauce elevated the burger to the next level. It was delicious! I also got to try la Limonada de Panela and los Jugos Naturales (maracuya). Both drinks were tasty and not overly sweet. I had such a great experience at El Apartamento! I tried the Montaditas Colombianas (also known as arepas) filled with cheese and chicken in a light sauce, and they were absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I also ordered the Lulo drink, which was refreshing and honestly a 10/10. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the food felt authentic and made with care. I highly recommend this place if you're looking to enjoy real Colombian flavors. I'll definitely be coming back! Plus- the customer service is one of a kind. Walking up to San Jose Food Hall you see the colorful signage for El Apartamento; even a photo opportunity! You walk in and the place is quite bright and very clean. It's very easy to place your order at the kiosk and it will give you a time estimate to when your food will be out. I ordered La Costeña and it came out within 10 mins. The burger was delicious and cooked to perfection. I loved the flavors of the plantain and the shredded chicken with the sweetness of he pineapple sauce. I will definitely order it again. My friend had Filete de Pechuga Hawaiana she gave me a sliver and the chicken was juicy and yum! When you are in the downtown area it's definitely worth a bite! Visited El Apartamento on a Friday night and the atmosphere was great - lots of music, great staff, and the burgers were so good. Everything tasted very fresh and the portions were generous. I had never tried Colombian burgers before this place but the sauces are crave worthy, especially the pineapple sauce! I also really liked the fries because they were not greasy at all and again so fresh. Definitely order the fresh juice they serve - I got the maracuya (passion fruit) and it was very refreshing and balanced without being overly sweet. Will definitely be back again and will probably try their other items like the crazy fries or hotdogs. read more

The five stars is for the green drink from the naranjilla fruit, which is like getting a Jamba Juice with pear, peach, grape, and prunes ground up. Except the drink was green. The drink later sedimented out with the ice melting and sinking, and the pulp rising to the top. In comparison, the blueberry drinks from Starbucks also separated out, but it might have taken longer if it was dairy. read more
