The Melt is a great spot if you're trying to grab a bite to eat in the area late at night. They even have a really nice outdoor seating area that's well lit. They have some great options with their various burgers and grilled cheeses. Make sure to get something with a tomato soup. I was also pretty happy with the milkshake. Right off the bat. This place's service is not the best so I didn't exactly enjoy ordering in-person from this Melt. The staff was helpful but didn't speak english that well, hence communication was a little tricky. (If you speak Spanish, you may get around this.) Also the Menu's didn't show a Kid's Menu when the kiosks did. These aren't terrible things-- but again I was left disappointed. What actually made it worse was their look of annoyance to me when I was confused by what they were trying to say. Maybe just order through the Kiosk here folks; I don't think the staff is as pleasant here as other Melts... The food is good though! The Melt is what you come to expect. Thankfully a grilled cheese sandwich isnt that hard to create. :) Would I come back here? I don't think so. Again, the staff seemed easily annoyed and reluctant to help with my order. The staff members are so friendly and efficient! My takeout orders are always ready in about 10 minutes. They offered me a warm cookie today while I was waiting for my order, so sweet. You can't go wrong with anything you order here. My favorites are the Melty Mac, Meltburger, garlic parmesan fries, "Golden Gate" orange soda, and vanilla milkshake. It's cheaper than Shake Shack and the Melt milkshakes are definitely better as well. There is lots of parking at the Orange garage and it's only a 2 minute walk around the corner. read more

A good char, juicy inside, and lots of flavor. I prefer a medium rare but most of these places cook their burgers to medium or medium well and you can't adjust. The ginger ale is really strong and really good. Today one of the employees just went above and beyond. I ordered the Spicy Mission Meltburger and my boyfriend ordered the BBQ Bacon Meltburger. These were large, juicy patties that covered the whole area of the bun without being so big that it's difficult to actually eat the burger. It took us a while to discover The Melt in Sunnyvale, despite going to downtown Sunnyvale often. We just never walked down that part of McKinley. We only noticed it when there was an outdoor event where they closed off the block to set up booths. We strolled down the block to look at the booths for the event and discovered The Melt (and Urban Plates) near the end of that block, then made a note to come back another time. We were excited to check out The Melt. The burgers looked delicious and we had high expectations. Unfortunately, our first time trying The Melt left us disappointed. We ordered 2 burgers (the BBQ Bacon and the Shroom burgers) plus a Cookies & Cream milk shake. When we got home and opened the lids, we discovered that the BBQ Bacon burger was missing its top bun (see photo). How does this even happen? The person who closed the lid and packaged everything into the take out bag did not even notice that the burger had a missing bun?! Talk about lack of attention to details. We did not order the burger "without a bun". The label on top of the lid does not even say "no bun" (see photo). This is a pretty big quality control issue. That said, the rest of the BBQ Bacon burger was yummy. We were still disappointed that we got "less" than what we ordered. The Shroom burger was also delicious. I would get this again. Someday. Or maybe never. I dunno. I am not yet ready to give The Melt a second try when there are so many other burger restaurants that have never made such a huge error on my orders. Our Cookies & Cream milk shake was pretty good. I loved how they have a drink carrier that keeps it upright in the bag when you take it home (see photo). I like how they have a covered outdoor seating area in front of the restaurant. Sometimes it's nice to be outside while not having the hot sun beating down on you. I always wanted to try this place. I came here for a lunch date. The service was really good, it's located in a business center with plenty of free parking. We ordered on the kiosk, but the person at the counter was hella nice and helpful. I just got a single burger, the ratio was actually hella good. The burger I got, I ordered it to go but ate there, the container that my burger was put into was awkward to get a grip on the full burger as well as it moistened the bottom bun, so with that being moist and the grease from the meat, it caused the bun to fall apart quicker.
