I recently had the pleasure of dining at Kaya's Kitchen in Panalu'u, and I must say, it was an experience that exceeded my expectations. This charming mom and pop restaurant truly embodies the spirit of aloha, providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made me feel like a local rather than a tourist. The service at Kaya's Kitchen was nothing short of excellent. From the moment I walked in, the friendly staff made me feel right at home. They were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about their food. I was particularly impressed with their willingness to suggest new menu items and provide recommendations based on my preferences. Now, let's talk about the star of the show--their Loco Moco. In my opinion, Kaya's Kitchen serves the best Loco Moco on the entire island! The dish was a perfect blend of flavors, with a juicy patty, a perfectly cooked egg, and a rich, savory gravy that had me craving for more. The portion size was generous, leaving me completely satisfied yet longing for my next visit. What truly sets Kaya's Kitchen apart is the genuine care and personal touch they bring to every interaction. As a tourist, it can be challenging to find an authentic local experience, but at this restaurant, I felt like a welcomed guest. We were able to take our food out to the benches to enjoy the scenery and to savor the meal and create lasting memories. If you're in Panalu'u or anywhere near the North Shore, I highly recommend paying a visit to Kaya's Kitchen. The outstanding service, warm atmosphere, and the best Loco Moco on the island make it a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic Hawaiian dining experience. Trust me, you won't be disappointed! read more

If you're heading for the North Shore, you must stop here. It's inside Kaya's Store in Punaluu. Lots of parking. I had the Pan Fried Ahi with Wasabi Aioli - incredible! Diced fresh Ahi sautéed in Onions. My friend had the Furikake Garlic Chicken - Wow! Lots of Garlic and onions and topped with Furikake. Each plate comes with namasu and potato mac salad. A lot of attention was given to the sides as they were balanced and perfect complements to the main dish. We grabbed our drinks and their famous Butter Mochi and paid at the Store Register. The people there are super friendly and took our plates out to us. Great experience! read more

Kaya's Kitchen is an absolute gem! Their coconut shrimp is simply divine, crispy on the outside and perfectly succulent on the inside--easily the best I've ever tasted. They always have spam musubi available, a delightful treat that brings a taste of Hawaii to every bite. The loco moco is another standout, with its savory gravy, juicy burger patty, and perfectly cooked eggs creating a symphony of flavors. Cinnamon's Restaurant

Cinnamon's Restaurant: Nearly 30 Years Later, Still Some of the Best Pancakes I've Ever Had!…read more BLUF (Bottom Line Up Front): If you're looking for an outstanding breakfast in Kailua, Cinnamon's is an absolute must! Their creative tropical pancakes are legendary, the service is excellent, and their Hawaiian Carrot Cake Pancakes might just be the best pancakes I've ever eaten anywhere! Be prepared for a wait and a little parking adventure, but trust me, it's worth it! The Details: I've been coming to Cinnamon's since the mid-1990s, when I first started looking for a home in Kailua. Nearly three decades later, this wonderful little restaurant continues to deliver some of my favorite breakfasts anywhere! Cinnamon's has built quite a reputation for its creative, tropical spin on traditional breakfast favorites. While their rotating specials are always tempting, some of their most spectacular creations are regular fixtures on the menu. And those pancakes! Oh, my goodness! On this visit, my wife and I decided to share three different items: a blueberry pancake, their signature Hawaiian Carrot Cake Pancake, and the Hawaiian Omelette with a side of fried rice. First, the pancakes. You can tell immediately that this isn't some ordinary boxed pancake mix. The batter has that wonderful homemade flavor and an incredibly light, fluffy texture. Even their straightforward blueberry pancake was delicious! But the HAWAIIAN CARROT CAKE PANCAKE was the undisputed star of the show! Imagine a fluffy carrot cake pancake loaded with macadamia nuts, warm cinnamon flavors, and pineapple, then generously covered in a luscious haupia sauce. For those unfamiliar with haupia, think sweet, creamy coconut goodness...! The combination is absolutely spectacular! The tropical flavors, the texture of the nuts, the pineapple, and that rich coconut sauce come together beautifully. I'm not exaggerating when I say this may have been the single best pancake I've ever eaten in my life! Our Hawaiian Omelette was another winner, featuring kalua smoked pork, tomatoes, onions, and laulau with sablefish. We paired it with their fried rice, a weekend-only side option, and it made for a hearty, satisfying savory counterpoint to those incredible pancakes. Service was excellent, just as I've come to expect over the years. The restaurant has a comfortable, casual island atmosphere with both indoor seating and a bustling, umbrella-covered courtyard. A couple of helpful tips: Parking can be challenging! The lot is small, and there's almost always a wait for a table. My recommendation is to drop your passengers off to get your name on the waiting list while you hunt for parking. If the lot is full, start looking along the nearby streets where parking is permitted. After nearly 30 years of visiting Cinnamon's, I still look forward to coming back. Restaurants come and go, especially in a place like Kailua, but there's something wonderful about finding a longtime favorite that continues to deliver. Five enthusiastic stars! Come hungry, bring a little patience, and whatever you do, don't leave without trying one of their signature pancakes! I've eaten pancakes all over the country, but that Hawaiian Carrot Cake Pancake just might have ruined ordinary pancakes for me forever!

The pasta was good but disappointed at how sparse they went with the toppings. The pasta noodles were good and tasted like taro. The Ube cheesecake was a bit of a disappointment. It's a big tall slice but the crust was very thin. It was lacking in Ube flavor, which if I had to guess, comes from Ube extract. I could tell because my mouth was blue after eating it. This place is pretty hyped up, I'm finding it hard to see why. Overall, I guess I expected more based on the raving reviews. My experience was just mid.

To me this place was not worth the hype!!
