I'm writing this review late, and can tell you that even though it's been a year, I still think about the food we got from here, more than I'd like to admit. Adela's is a small, take-out order only place, but extremely busy. We phoned in the order ahead of time and the wait time was about 45 mins. We got the Sweet Potato Noodles with Garlic Butter and Lechon. Gracious, it was delicious. Worth every penny. The lechon was crispy, tender, and flavorful. The noodles had the perfect texture and paired flawlessly with the garlic butter. We also got Okinawan Sweet Potato Poi Bread, but this unfortunately was blown out of the water by the noodles. We drove 40 minutes from our hotel to eat here because the photos looked so good, but the experience was a mixed bag. First, the cashier lady was extremely rude. She seemed like she was not too fond of tourists at all. To make things worse, there is no indoor seating. Since we were so far from our hotel, we ended up having to eat the food in our car. The food itself had massive highs and lows. The Lechon Pork Belly was amazing and delicious. I wish it had a few more purple onions, but the meat itself was a solid 10/10. However, the Garlic Butter Shrimp was horrible. It was probably the worst I have had in a very long time. The large photos on the actual menu inside the restaurant show large, unpeeled shrimp. What we actually got was small, already-peeled shrimp that tasted more like freezer burn than actual garlic butter. The service issues continued when I picked up the food. I noticed my Coke was missing and asked for it. The lady handing out the food asked the cashier if I had been charged for a soda, and the cashier said no. I know for a fact I paid for it after doing the math myself. There were other people waiting in line behind me, so I just said forget it, took my food, and left. Go for the pork belly, but skip the shrimp, double-check your receipt, and prepare for a cold shoulder at the counter. read more

Knowing this place from my friend and she insisted that I should definitely give it a try. Fortunately she suggested me to call and pre-order to avoid long wait. They indeed seemed to be very popular as I could see how busy the place was when we picked up ours. It's also a to-go concept only so we enjoyed our pasta at the bench right next to the venue. The pasta was organic and all homemade from peculiar natural ingredients including moringa, taro, sweet potato, bread fruit, avocado, and local saimin. The one serving us was so nice and attentive, which indeed seemed to be needed here given how rich selections they offered. You got the option to pick your own choice of pasta, sauce, and protein or went for their combo. We opted for the latter as we got their Lechon Malunggay Pasta, which was Moringa pasta with roasted pork belly. Portion was HUGEEE and certainly shareable unless your appetite was so big. Meat to pasta ratio was also super general. The pork was cooked to perfection with flawlessly crispy skin yet juicy meat. The pasta came in just the right texture and was already flavorful on its own. You could pick spiciness level for which we took mild and we thought we should've gone for spicy. We also got Ube cheesecake for dessert that was also gigantic LOL. We finished it finally after multiple servings and it was still so good despite kept in fridge overnight. There's no seating in side and there is only one long bench outside, so this is pretty much a to-go only place. You can order ahead over the phone and pick up there. The pork belly is amazing. I have been dreaming of Adela's ever since we finished our meal here. The pasta is incredible and had such unique flavors. We tried the malunggay with lechon, taro with coconut cream sauce and shrimp, sweet potato with mushroom and lemon caper cream sauce, and the braised pork. The mulanggay was my favorite, and the taro/coconut cream sauce was my boyfriend's favorite. However, literally all of them were incredible, you can't go wrong. Also, do NOT forget the cheesecake. When I say the portions are massive, I mean it. There were four girls in our group, and we ordered two different pastas, but honestly, it would have been enough to just order one. I ordered the garlic ulu pasta with a garlic shrimp add-on. Unfortunately, it seemed like they forgot to include the main ingredient, the mushrooms. Even so, it was still pretty tasty. The noodles had a great texture, and it had the garlicky flavor we were hoping for. Despite the large portions, the pricing is quite high. Our order came out to about $50 (for the one dish) with the shrimp add-on. I was a bit disappointed with my dish, but my boyfriend ordered the braised short rib, and that completely made up for it. That dish was incredible. The meat was braised until it practically melted in your mouth, and the sauce was sweet with a slight tang. The cuts were high quality and not fatty. This has been on my list for years and the crazy part is the bf just lives down the street so I finally convinced him to go today...can't believe I've been missing out on this place for so long. They've made the yelp top 100 for several years and now I can confirm why. It's a small little storefront with takeout only. The pictures definitely help when making your selection. We ordered one meal to share, lechon with garlic fried rice and we were stuffed. The rice had good flavor and not overly greasy like some fried rice dishes. Topped with tender and juicy Lechon that had perfectly crispy skin. The balance of rice and meat was even through the whole dish. We had the black pepper vinegar for dipping to add some more flavor to the meat. This place Is deserving of 5 stars. The service was fast and friendly. We were helped by the owner, and everything was very efficient. Waited no more than 10 minutes. They also sell all of their noodles, which ranged in all sorts of flavors. Recently stopped by Adela's and had a great experience. I called shortly after they opened on a Friday morning around 10:30am and ordered the Garlic Ube Pasta with Portobello Mushroom along with the Okinawan Sweet Potato Ube Pasta with Lechon & Garlic. Within about 30 minutes, our food was ready for pickup. Heads up, orders are made fresh and can take anywhere from 30-60 minutes, so calling ahead is definitely the move. While picking up our food, we also grabbed an Ube Cheesecake and a slice of Okinawan Sweet Potato Bread from their dessert case. There's no indoor seating, so we ended up taking everything to a nearby park. Garlic Ube Pasta w/ Portobello Mushroom (4/5): Strong garlic flavor throughout, which paired really well with the chewy mushrooms. I originally asked for ulu pasta but think it may have been misheard as ube, so I'll have to try the breadfruit noodles next time. My only complaint was that the dish was a bit too oily, even after the noodles soaked most of it up. Okinawan Sweet Potato Ube Pasta w/ Lechon & Garlic (5/5): My favorite of the two. The noodles reminded me of chow mein with the stir-fried texture, onions, and tomatoes. The lechon was generously portioned, perfectly crispy, salty, and savory, especially paired with the sweet sauce on the side. I did think there were a few too many red onions, but overall this dish was excellent. Ube Cheesecake (5/5): Rich, soft, and packed with ube flavor without being overly sweet. The crust tasted like it was mixed with macadamia nuts, which added a great texture and nuttiness. Honestly one of the best cheesecakes I've had. Even so, the experience was still great. The owner was incredibly warm, funny, and welcoming. She could immediately tell it was our first time and walked us through how the noodles are made. She speaks through a headset/mic, which honestly made it feel like we were on a mini food tour -- such a fun touch! Voted as one of the top 100 places to eat on Yelp, there is quite a bit of hype built up. I was smart to do research to call ahead and place an order, where they asked for my name and phone number, then you pay in person for pickup. It was about a 30 minute wait on a Saturday but since it was January, it was low season so it'll probably be an hour if you go here on a summer weekend. Perfect timing as we drive from Waikiki which was a 30 minute drive anyways. I opted to make things more convenient and got one of the most popular combinations section - #3 Okinawan sweet potato ube pasta with pork belly (lechón) and garlic. It was about $32 after tax which is very pricy for a takeout item but they packed the container to the brim, enough for a very filling meal for 2 or a satisfactory meal for 3, so the value is there if you are not eating solo. The pasta is nicely cooked, though I didn't really taste the ube that much. The lechón is delicious and they gave a lot of it. This dish is more of a stir fry than a saucy pasta, which sits a lot better in the car ride, as this is a takeout only spot with zero seating anywhere nearby. We opted to picnic at the botanical gardens nearby to enjoy the food and scenery. One thing I wish is that they gave smaller portions for a lower price so it is easier to try more varieties of pasta, but I guess with the hype, they have to sell in bulk. I took a star off because unlike all the other parties that ordered and picked up, they never offered a sharing container for me and when I asked for 2 since I was sharing this dish with 3 people, they didn't know what I was saying despite them using the same language to offer the "sharing container." I had to repeat in different phrases like takeout container, extra plate or bowl, etc and it was a very awkward interaction as they claimed they don't do sharing containers here when they clearly did a few seconds ago? It's strictly a takeout spot, so we brought our lunch over to Hoʻomaluhia Botanical Garden to enjoy the beautiful scenery. We ordered the Okinawan sweet potato ube pasta with pork belly lechón. When we opened the box, it felt like holding a little mountain, the container was packed to the brim! My husband and I shared it and still couldn't finish. It was flavorful and very garlicky, though a bit oily from the pork belly. We also grabbed a coconut water, iced tea, and an ube haupia pie for dessert. It is worth noting that we came here twice during our 7 day visit to Waikiki (Taro is a must try!) Personally I enjoy variety so the Lechon and Garlic Ulu both hit the spot for me (on different days). The Taro was amazing in moderation for myself but the girlfriend chose it both times sooo, it must be good. We also tried the Mac Nut w/ blueberry cheesecake and the Ube cheesecake. We stumbled upon this local gem after doing a nearby waterfall hike. We were overwhelmed by the number of options and combinations you could choose from, but the staff took their time explaining the menu and walking us through everything. We decided on the ulu noodles since they had the most fiber and chose to have them prepared the local way. The local way meant stir fried, so the noodles ended up similar to chow mein. But this was not your typical chow mein. It was a total flavor bomb. The noodles were perfectly seasoned with a great char. Usually chow mein noodles turn mushy, but these homemade taro noodles were firm, chewy, and incredibly tasty. We paired the noodles with the braised short rib, and it was to die for. The short rib was extremely tender and practically fell off the bone. The portion was also very generous for the price. Overall, the combination of the short rib and noodles was perfect. I am really glad we stumbled upon this spot. I did not even realize until afterward that this place has made Yelp's top 100 restaurants for the past three to four years and is currently ranked number six for 2026. read more

We ordered the ulu (breadfruit) noodles local-style with braised short rib, and it completely blew us away. Had a great experience at Adela's Country Eatery. The food was very good, and what really stood out was how the owner took the time to give us a tour and explain their sustainability practices--it made the meal feel even more special knowing where the ingredients come from. Our favorite dishes were the garlic pasta with portabella mushrooms and the short ribs--both were flavorful and cooked perfectly. The only thing I'd do differently next time is pay the extra for the fried rice, because it looked amazing. Overall, excellent food, friendly service, and a unique farm-to-table experience. Aloha, omg what a great find in Kaneohe. Once a month I venture over the hill for a class and decided to pickup dinner. Whoo $127 for 4 plates, better be good. Omg, so worth it! It's enough to feed 8 peeps. We enjoyed the lean lechon and calamungai noodles with garlic butter sauce and the coconut creamy mushroom sauce over stuffed chicken with ube noodles, wow so ono. Been eating here for years and the quality and customer service is always exceptional. Had some friends from out of town give it a try and it didn't disappoint. 3 plates fed 4 of us and the cheese cake made it that much better. Go with the popular choice menu and make sure you try the Lechon. read more

Check out their menu with lots of varieties of plates, sides, deserts etc!!! We remember Auntie Millie when she was at all the Country Cafe in Kaneohe and Kalihi. She said the NEX is still open. Auntie Millie always so wonderful, cheerful and made you smile! Also, Manang who is still there remembers us from Kalihi. Their ordering and p/u system works like a charm! You go in, wait and get out in a timely manner with no delays. Great location plenty parking when it's not busy, it's clean well stocked with their homemade noodles and cold display of deserts and drinks. Don't miss going there! Wife and I finally got to try the famous Mulangay noodles here on Oahu. We ordered with the crispy lechon no other way lol. Wifey and I shared it and still had left overs. It was a busy day, and if you decide to come here I would preorder it, as it is made fresh and with love!! Our order took about 35 minutes. My wife and I just drive to the local grocery store and killed time. We received a call that our order was ready ! Our mouth was watering from the smell!!! Adela's Country Eatery is a unique eating experience that everyone ought to try when visiting Oʻahu. During my first visit to Oʻahu, I had the misfortune of missing the opening times for Adela's. I planned better my next visit. The variety of options can be overwhelming, but you have a lot of agency as a consumer to choose your flavor profile. You choose your noodle, choose your sauce, and choose your protein! I got to try the Taro pasta in the local style sauce and lechon. My mom tried the Ube pasta in garlic butter with lechon. I much preferred the garlic butter flavor, and I already knew I would like it regardless, but I was interested in what "local style" was. I found local style a bit too salty for my palate. Next time, I'd do garlic butter. I love dessert so we tried the ube cheesecake, lychee cheesecake, and passion orange cheesecake. Cheesecake is always an excellent idea. I was in the mood for trying more Hawaiian local juices, so we got the lilikoi lychee juice and passion orange juice to try. Interesting that there is perhaps free variation of "lilikoi" and "passion(fruit)". That would make for an interesting linguistics study. The woman helming the business is super friendly and super charming. She explained to us that she would contact us when our order is ready due to the amount of time it takes to cook everything. Everything is takeout, so expect to look for a place to dine outdoors. My recommendation is calling ahead with your order so you don't have to wait after arriving to the restaurant. read more
