Literally we ate everything on our plates with that in mind, we almost ate up our plate as well. The customer service was fantastic. Excellent plus they cater to our needs and then also some dietary restrictions that were easily adjusted. I ended up ordering the beautiful pulled pork nachos, which were fantastic made with an excellent brilliant taste and cheese sauce, which they make on site themselves and also utilizes it in the macaroni and cheese. I was more than pleased with this restaurant. Highly recommend it and will definitely be coming back again when we visit the 808. The owners are horrible humans. I pulled into the parking lot on a Monday and as I was pulling in, saw that they were closed. Bummer. So go to leave and the owner is there in his big white diesel truck blocking the 1 way to leave. So I give a Lil tap of the horn to let him know I'm there. I attempt to then turn around to go backwards out of the 1 way and it was not safe, so I come back through and am waiting behind the truck again. Another man comes out and says, "he's waiting for someone," okay, I respond with a smile, can he pull up so I can leave? Kid relays the message. Owner aggressively slamms on gas spinning out the tires. As I'm pulling through, the kid scolds, "this isn't a roundabout. " I said yea, I'm a customer. I thought you were open. He goes well "We aren't so leave" motioning with his arm. I guess the bummer part, is I really like this place. The food is good. But I won't help companies who are shit to others. read more

This is a family run, small business, that's perfect for the area. Their barbecue is slow smoked for 16 hours, right on the premises. You can a their smokers at the back of the parking lot, going all day long. The interior it's clean and bright, and they do dine-in, take out, and deliver thru the usual services. The parking entrance is a bit tight, but can be negotiated, with lots of parking behind the bldg. Their menu is what you'd expect from a great BBQ place, with brisket, pulled pork, ribs, chicken, and all the fixings. Service was good, and relatively fast. I ordered their brisket sandwich with fries and the bourbon BBQ sauce. It came on a soft bun, overflowing with meat, coleslaw, and sauce. You definitely need a lot of napkins, or a knife and fork (or both). The taste was meaty, smokey, and a bit tangy, from the combination of the sauce and slaw. Next time, (and there definitely will be a next time soon) I'd order the sauce on the side to dip as needed, and I'll definitely want to get one of their enormous plates of combo bbq. read more

Whiskey smoke was donated today to a conference I was attending today at Windward community college and holy lawddddd blesss you all. Mac and cheese was perfect. Little cut up pieces of sausage was snappy and had the perfect amount of char on them. Ribs was beautifully smoked, brisket lovely, beans not too saucy or sweet. Being that it was Mother's Day, our order was messed up when we got it and as we checked out our food we ordered at home, they put the wrong choices than the ones we wanted and it was upsetting since they didn't want that. One of the orders also had a really bad burn from their buns of the burger that was ordered too which wasn't cool. Even though, their food is not bad and actually okay, I'am disappointed with this bad order that we received on this special busy day and the worst was hearing that since they were so busy, they couldn't answer any phone calls or take out orders. You had to go to their shop to order instead of calling them. Something needs to be done and they need to change with that type of service because they should have more workers in different job roles for sure especially with handling the phone calls. read more

My girlfriend and I had been wanting to try this place for a while after seeing it recommended on several social media pages. We both love BBQ, so we were genuinely excited to finally come in and give it a try. Unfortunately, we never even got the chance to taste the food because the service experience was extremely disappointing. We arrived around 10:15 AM, were seated quickly, and then completely forgotten about. It wasn't even during a busy lunch rush, yet we sat there until 10:35 without a single server acknowledging us.. not even a simple "We'll be right with you." What made the experience worse was watching multiple groups who arrived after us get greeted and helped almost immediately. It seemed like many of them were regulars, based on conversations we overheard between staff and customers. Meanwhile, we were continuously overlooked while servers stood behind the counter appearing occupied but never once checking on us. After waiting 20 minutes without any acknowledgment whatsoever, we decided to leave. First impressions matter, and this experience left us feeling ignored and unwelcome. I understand restaurants get busy, but basic customer service and communication go a long way. Very disappointing experience. Please do better. read more

Stopped by to try for the first time today and wasnt impressed. They were pretty busy so we decided on take out, I get the long wait being its so busy but when our food was given to us nothing was hot everything was cold already not sure if was sitting on the side for a while or what. We ordered the brisket plate and for the price you pay you would think you would get some meat. Every piece of brisket we had was just huge pieces of fat with a skimpy lining of meat along the edges dont know how you can cut those pieces and think oh yea these are good to go to serve. We got to Whiskey Smoke 808 on Sunday, late afternoon. The driveway to the parking in the back is narrow and one way, so slow down before taking the turn in. The back has a lot of parking for the amount of tables they have for dine in guests. The dine in tables aren't meant for large parties. The max I could see was 6 and the seats are bench like. We got 2 plates, brisket and pork ribs. Our sides were rice (x2), elote corn, and mac n cheese. We couldn't decide on which sauce to get so we got them all. They gave us just a fork and I can see why a knife was not needed. The meat was so moist and it just falls apart. I enjoyed the coffee bourbon sauce and, to my surprise, the guava chili pepper. So tasty! The desserts served in the display case were so very tempting to purchase all flavors. We got ube mac nut, banana pudding, and brown butter pumpkin tres leches. so yummy! Best barbecue I have had in several years. We smoke our own meats and have had barbecue at a lot of restaurants and local favorites around the country. As folks like to say, this place is legit. The brisket was beautifully smoked, moist, and melted in your mouth. The pork ribs still had good texture, but fell off the bone with plenty of smoke and seasoning. Their smoked sausage had a good snap, texture and sweet flavor. Their pulled pork was well smoked with just the right texture. This is a team that believes in letting the meat shine with just the right amount of seasoning and smoke. They don't hide behind sauces. So they bring the sauce out on the side. So impressed with our experience at whiskey smoke! My family loves texas bbq but it's hard to find good bbq on the island. We tried whiskey smoke for the first time tonight and as soon as we got out of the car you could tell this place would be good. The smell of smoked meat surrounded the air as they were smoking the meat right from the parking lot. The workers were so friendly and even gave our dog a water bowl. We ordered "the menu" which was just described to have "a fuck ton of meat" so we started with that for our party of 6 not knowing if it would be enough but it definitely was a fuck ton. It comes with 4 sides so we got the mac and cheese, baked beans, elote corn, and rice and they were all good but nothing too special. The meat on the other hand was all amazing- it came with pork ribs, brisket, sausage, pulled pork, and chicken. The brisket was probably the best, super juicy and melted in your mouth. All the other meats were great too, all super smoky and tender. It also came with all 4 of their bbq sauces which were all pretty good, the guava and lilikoi sauces were definitely fruity which I thought was weird when I tried it on its own but actually went really well on the meat. I'm not a huge meat eater but I do occasionally go hard for brisket. Some places in Hawai'i do it well and some miss the mark. When I went here I decided to play it on the safer side and got the grilled cheese with brisket inside of it, and fries. (The lactaid is my own ;)) Holy moly! The portion size was HUGE and I could've easily split it with someone. The food was great. The service is pretty fast and the overall vibe of the restaurant is what you'd expect for a BBQ place (nothing fancy, it's all just there to make sure you can eat). What I did think was cool was that their history of working in BBQ was in framed pictures on the wall. The ONLY reason it isn't 5 stars is because of the cost. It's a little higher than what I would normally pay for a single meal (even though it really could be two, probably) and I'm sure the cost is fully justified on their end with the cost of ingredients and operating expenses. Being from Texas, I'm pretty particular about BBQ -- from the cut of the meat, to the binders and even the type of wood used. With that lens, this was solid, decent BBQ, though not quite a destination stop for us. After seeing a few commercials, We drove over from Kapolei, just to try this. While I wouldn't make a special trip just for this, if we found ourselves on this side of town another day and craving BBQ, I'd stop in again. The brisket was flavorful with the right amount of fat. I didn't find myself separating fat from meat, which is always a good sign. They mentioned they season with just salt and pepper, and honestly, that's probably all it needed for a small-production smokehouse. The smoked chicken was a standout -- better than most I've had, even back in Texas. Moist, not dry, and a nice smoke flavor throughout. The coffee bourbon BBQ sauce was different and interesting, though not necessarily my favorite. The BBQ smoked beans itself was decent and leaned more on the tangy side. In my opinion, the flavors would benefit from incorporating burnt ends to add depth and balance. The coleslaw was good -- not overly vinegary and thankfully light on the sugar. Overall, it wasn't bad and felt closer to being authentic than other BBQ spots around the island. With a few tweaks, this could be a really strong BBQ choice. read more

This was our first time here. The restaurant was empty but filled up pretty quick. Servers were friendly and helped us out with the menu. They took our orders from our table. We shared a beef brisket and pulled pork combo with coleslaw and potato salad with lilikoi bbq sauce. Also got tres leches and banana pudding dessert. Food came out fast. We enjoyed the food here but once the rush came in we were largely forgotten about. The staff apologized about it so that's good to me. I revisited Whiskey Smoke 808 in Kāne'ohe to give it another shot, and despite a mix-up with my order, it turned out to be a happy accident. I ended up trying both the pulled pork and brisket -- and both were solid choices. The meat was tender, and you could really taste the deep, smoky flavor that sets good BBQ apart. While they did get the sauce flavor wrong too, the quality of the smoked meats made up for it. It's a casual spot with potential, especially if you're craving barbecue on the Windward side. The cashier (male) was friendly and recommending the variety plate. OMG I am so grateful for his recommendation. It had brisket, chicken, pork, and two ribs. Let me just say that I've found my new favorite barbecue joint! Everything was so tasty and good! This place is a must visit and I'll be back for sure! I almost drove past it as I was checking out smaller beaches but I'm so glad I stopped in. I ordered the brisket and pulled pork combo with elote and mac and cheese as my sides and the pickled onions and jalapeños were a great touch. Everything tasted fresh excluding the corn but but as a Chef, I hate cutting corn off the Cobb so I'd expect the corn to be canned... idk if it actually was, just being honest. I had to get a desert and the banana pudding was perfect, I probably didn't need to order it but when in Rome as far as staff, I spoke with and interacted with almost every person inside as I ate there, multiple employees checked on me. Everyone was super kind and genuine and it shows in how they interacted with myself and other guests. Inside was 10 or so tables with cool custom made benches and table tops, from the outside it definitely looks much smaller. The Mac n Cheese was just that...Macaroni and cheese, no flavor but full of grease. I asked for lamb chop on my combo plate and got chicken instead. While our server offered to take the plate back I just decided to eat what was brought out. No apology for the mistake. Glad I kept it because the chicken was probably the best thing. Short version: We gave Whiskey Smoke 808 a try and left feeling like maybe their spice rack is locked in a vault somewhere. Long version: The brisket plate ($27) came with 3 pieces that were juicy enough and had a nice smoky flavor, but that was about it. Good, but kind of like kissing your cousin. Technically fine, but you don't brag about it later. The chicken plates ($20 each) came with 2 small drums and a thigh. One of them also came accessorized with a long black hair. My stepson flicked it onto the floor and kept eating before we could get the servers attention, so points for bravery I guess. The chicken itself was dry and tasted like it skipped seasoning day at culinary school, just like everything else. The mac and cheese was definitely homemade but needed salt. The baked beans were the star of the show -- straight out of the Bush's can, and I mean that as a compliment. The coleslaw was watery, bland, and somehow dry at the same time, which feels like a magic trick. The potato mac salad? Let's just say if Zippy's mac is an 8, this is a solid 5. Brussels sprouts were fried with zero seasoning, so basically they just tasted like fried leaves. And then there was the elote. If bad decisions had a mascot, this would be it. Over-soured with lemon juice and tajin, we all spit it out and looked at each other like we'd just been hazed. Dessert came from the front case. We got one Chantilly banana tres leches cake. Pretty good, but the "Chantilly" frosting was more "Cool Whip's cousin." Still, I'd eat it again. Service was meh. We were greeted quick but forgotten about almost as fast. Our server forgot a few things, and the sides came out so late we'd basically already finished. The space is clean and bright, tucked into the old Fresh Catch building, with a mix of benches and two-seaters. Final damage: $97 for 3 plates, 3 drinks, 2 sides, and dessert. Fair price, but would I choose to come back? Only if every other BBQ spot on the island shut down and I was too lazy to grill in my own backyard. Perfect place to grab a plate and eat at a park while enjoying the view in Kaneohe! Since the dining room tables were nearly filled, I ordered takeout. I timed it, just for fun, and it came out in under 10 minutes! (8 minutes to be exact!) I ordered a 2-Choice Entree Plate with the Brisket and Pulehu, Brussels Sprouts and Mac n Cheese for the sides, and Spicy Guava Chili Sauce. The Brisket was juicy and tender. I could easily cut it with my fork; no knife needed! I loved how the Pulehu was already cut in perfect bite-size pieces! The depth of the smoky flavor was unmatched. They even included some pieces with the bone if you're into that. Moving onto the sides. The Brussel Sprouts were perfectly roasted and seasoned. I could eat a bucket of those and be happy. The Mac n Cheese was a little greasy, but it had a pleasant smoky flavor. The meats and sides were amazing, but my favorite thing was the sauce! I was a little skeptical at first because I was worried it would be too sweet, but that Spicy Guava Chili Sauce was the perfect balance of sweet and tangy.
