Need to remind you that you need to stop at this establishment you won't be disappointed. Their plate lenses. I am hooked. I'm always stopping by when I have a chance. I love their system where you they take your order and then you take that ticket and then if you do wanna shop for items you're more than welcome to shop around look around support local, which I highly recommend shopping around and then once you are all set with your purchase, you go to the cashier who is really friendly and they just bring you up your ticket and the items that you found in the store what's even better they give you a buzzer so when your food is ready, it goes off that way you're not standing awkwardly in the store. Also allows the cooks to truly be comfortable and not feel the pressure of being watched. I highly recommend coming to despite even if it's your first time or your hundredth time good Ono food. Thanks aunty for the amazing aloha you share with the community everyday read more

Kaya's Kitchen - Garlic, fruitcake, chicken and steak and veggies - Hawaiian Near Me - Hauula, Hawaii

This review might sound a bit bias since I live across the street. Delicious comfort local food within 5miles east or west of Hauula. Little heavy on the mayo. Country store feel. I drop in once a week. read more

Since it's Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, I wanted to highlight a longtime local favorite -- Kaya's Kitchen and Kaya's Store, established in 1946! Kaya's Kitchen is located inside the store. You order at the kitchen window, then pay the cashier in the middle of the store. They serve up local-style favorites at great plate lunch prices. Nothing fancy -- just good local food that's been part of the community for generations. There's plenty of outdoor seating, convenient free parking, and a laid-back country vibe that makes it worth the stop if you're driving through the area. Check them out if you're on the North Shore side! read more

I finally visited Kaya's Kitchen in Punalu'u - situated inside Kaya's Store, which is an old-fashioned general store Local style plate lunches with daily specials available.I tried their Guava Smoked Pork Plate. It was excellent but the side of pickled cucumbers were a surprise, unwanted as I don't care for cucumbers. Open every day from 700a till 700p. Parking on two sides adjacent to the building. A coyple of food trucks align the Ka'a'awa side and adjacent is a canopy covered picnic table area. The counter has quick bites and I also grabbed a spam musubi. Locals to tourists is about 1:1 ratio. read more

Stumbled on this cute spot! Had to kill time and drove along the highway when the hunger pangs hit. Did a quick search and found this gem! Got good reviews so I decided to try it out. Hit the spot for sure! Service was quick and people were super friendly. The aloha vibe is strong here. Picked up snacks in the connected store (Kaya's Store). Would come back! read more

Kaya's Kitchen - What's left of the furukakae garlic chicken - Hawaiian Near Me - Hauula, Hawaii

We tried this place after a long day and it hit the spot. We got the steak plate combo with half shrimp. We asked the steak to be cooked medium rare but it came well done- but we didn't care because it still tasted so good. The shrimp was so flavorful and the Mac salad was up to par. Honestly the shrimp was really good, i think it beats jennys shrimp truck and other shrimp places we've tried. Service was average/helpful! Overall, the plate felt like home. Bathroom is a porta potty on the side. If we had more time, we would've stopped by here again. We paired it with some beers. read more

What is a amazing Mom And pop shop. They have a little bit of everything from fishing supplies to T-shirts and liquor. They also have amazing food. It's my go to place for breakfast every Thursdays. You can't go wrong with their local moco. A sunny side egg with hamburger patty over rice smothered in brown gravy. It's every local boys dream. Bev and her husband has been taking care of locals as well as tourist for 0ver 4 decades. The store has been around for over 100 years. Kaya's it's the kind of store you go to and everybody knows your name. Whether you're just passing by or make it a part of your weekly routine, Kaya's will never disappoint. read more

Holy hell - one of the best breakfasts I've had in awhile!! I had the Ahi Cheese omelette with the chili aioli (instead of the wasabi aioli it come with, I don't like wasabi). Went and got a couple things with my family, and I personally got the Roast Pork Plate. The food tasted amazing, and even though it was a mini version, it still filled up my stomach nicely. It was only around less than 10 minutes of waiting for 3 food items and the tables outside were ok, with the canopy providing good shade from the sun but lots of flies! The proportions were on point with the pork & gravy to rice ratio, and the gravy added an amazing saucy taste. The pork was cooked well and was tender with no chewy or rough parts with a good taste. The rice itself was cooked nicely and each grain separated nicely in my mouth. The Mac salad tasted pretty good, for me it was only the tiniest amount of too sweet for me, but I do wish there was slightly more mac salad. Overall I liked the food a lot! read more

I was picking up Thai at the food truck next door when I decided to get some mac salad at Kaya's. I'd heard it was good and I'm never one to pass up a mac salad when I'm in Hawaii. While I did like this one, my vegetarian boyfriend wasn't thrilled by what we think was tuna in it. It wasn't listed on the menu as having tuna in it but it definitely looked like tuna and we've seen a few other reviews that say the same. It's now made him ask throughout the islands if the mac salad has tuna and he's often given weird looks but better safe than sorry for him. I, however, would love to come back and get both the mac salad and try other dishes in the future. read more

Hole in the wall or rather a hole in the store kitchen with some great breakfast/lunch combinations. I went for the surf & surf combo selecting spicy garlic shrimp consisting of five good size crustaceans and grilled ahi topped with a wasabi aïoli sauce. The food arrived relatively fast and we took it over to a tented area off to the southeastern side of the store with picnic benches and a nice view of the ocean on the opposite side of the road. Food was paid for at the store till. A good selection of drinks are available although prices seem to be geared toward the tourist trade more common in Waikiki than out in the country. The food arrived hot and tasty with ample quantities of the two selected dishes including Mac salad and rice. Pagers are used to notify you when it's ready to be picked up, people were friendly and the food tasted good, would stop again if I was passing by. read more

Kaya's was recommended to my boyfriend and we added it to our list of foods to try while spending time in the north shore. We are big foodies, so we were thrilled when we tried the plate (guava pork and coconut shrimp combo). Also added an egg to the side. It was one of our top food stops of the trip. I highly recommend. Spam masubi was also good! Had teriyaki sauce on it which is my favorite. All staff were so nice and helped us pick an option since there are so many good ones. Everything we ate was delicious, very generous portions. The star of the show was the stir fry with chicken my mom had. Truly one of the best I have had from anywhere. The veggies were so clearly fresh and cooked to perfection, the sauce was flavorful, but not overwhelming. But you really can't go wrong with any if the options. read more

Gigantic portions of food! Get the wasabi sauce and you will not be disappointed! We had the Ahi stir fry and spicy ahi. So good!

Husband ordered an egg breakfast an it didn't even have any seasoning on it. Super bland. Perhaps food is different in Oahu, but it definitely was not good especially for the price. The coconut shrimp I had was ok. Just be prepared that this is NOT an eat in restaurant. You order in the store area and take your food outside to sit at a picnic table. The fun part was watching the chickens and birds that hung around the area. I'm sure their other food is probably good, but would suggest flavoring the breakfast foods. read more

What a treat!!!! Meeting the owners and talking about how the store started and how life was living in the country. The food is amazing as well as the service. When I planned my stay on the North Shore I didn't want to eat at any restaurants and I wanted to support locals. This was absolutely perfect in every way. The roast pork plate special was delicious. Tender roast pork with gravy, white rice, mac salad and pickle cucumber. The fried ahi with wasabi sauce and egg plate was delicious too. Good flavor and tender. Lady at counter was friendly. We sat at covered tents outside the store. BEST FOOD IN THE WHOLE ISLAND! Wow this entire time that my husband and I were in Oahu we couldn't find good food, probably because we're spoiled in Southern California with good food. Little Market with Lunch Plates [Hau'ula, Oahu HI] Driving along Kamehameha Hwy just a little over 7 miles from Kuala Ranch towards Laie we stopped by this little market located on a side road in the town of Hauula. The shave ice store was the one that caught my eye but we decided to check out the market first (separate business from the shave ice)... ooh! they have a kitchen that offered lunch plates. It was lunch time and we decided to get some food here. Everything on the menu looked so ono! We couldn't decide between the Furikake Garlic Chicken and the Garlic Miso Chicken so the friendly owner asked if we wanted to do half of each in which we happily said yes. There were two covered sections of outdoor seating area w/ picnic benches on either side. She asked us where we will be seated so she can walk our food to us when ready. Took awhile but worth the wait. oh-my-gooooodnesssss! It was love at first bite, and second and third! The meal was made-to-order fresh and so good! The serving was large and was enough for the both of us... hubby and I shared the lunch plate and it filled us up nicely until our next tour at the Polynesian Cultural Center. The chicken was sautéed in lots of garlic and onion topped with seaweed sprinkles and drizzled with sweet miso aioli. Mmm mmm onolicious! Craving! People there were friendly and helpful. Kaya's offers great local breakfast and lunch favorites on the North Shore. We happened on their unassuming shop, which is a combination of convenience store/carry out restaurant. We called ahead to see if they were open and were able to place an order for pick-up. The manager is super sweet and efficient. Our Loco Moco was ready when I arrived. They also had an interesting assortment of freshly-made quick breakfasts and mushubi. I selected an egg mushubi. The clerk graciously offered me a box to carry my meal home. Now a Loco Moco is a decadent burger served on rice, with 3 eggs and smothered with a rich gravy. Their version also featured caramelized onions on the half pound burger. The rice was fried with bits of sausage. The Loco Moco ($10.95) was delicious and enough to share. They only offer carry out and the parking lot fills quickly with locals. They carry an assorted variety of cold beverages and soft drinks but unfortunately, no hot coffee. Arg. I'm anxious to return and try one of the ahi dishes. I highly recommend! So good. read more

If you're looking for excellent local plate lunches with friendly and amazing customer service, you have come to the right place! Kaya's Kitchen is located inside a convenience store in Hau'ula. I had done my research prior to arriving and knew that I wanted to try their Pan Fried Ahi for $13.95. It comes with an 8 oz tuna sautéed in garlic, butter, and onions. Then it's topped with your choice of sauce, which the owner will allow you to try the 3 different sauces before making a decision! I selected the chili aioli sauce and was not disappointed. It balanced out the taste of the fish. The ahi itself was cooked perfectly. It's served on a bed of white rice or fried rice - your choice. I went with the white rice. It also comes with incredible mac salad and Japanese pickles. It's a fairly big portion, but it was so delicious that I ate it all in one sitting! I couldn't put it down. I also bought chocolate butter mochi , as I had read that they make an excellent one. It was certainly very yummy! It was warm to the touch, meaning that they had just baked it. It had the perfect chewy texture as well. The lady inside the kitchen (I'm assuming it's Kaya) is so sweet and full of aloha! I will definitely return in the near future. I want to try their furikake chicken next! read more

One word...AMAZING!! I had the Pan Fried Ahi with Wasabi and it was delicious! Highly recommend if you are in the area!

Kaya's is a one stop shop if you're hanging out in the Ko'olauloa. In fact, it's nice to have more small local convenience stores rather than out-of-state big box companies so continue to support places like Ching's, Kaya's, Tamura's, etc. Kaya's includes a number of food trucks, almost everyone has their own shrimp plate, but Kaya's has surf and turf, too. While they may not have everything, like fresh produce, they have snacks, can goods, a variety of drinks, auto needs, first aid supplies, etc AND a small but 'ono menu of plate lunch options. No indoor seating. read more

Ahi for breakfast? YESS!!! This place really makes ahi and eggs just perfect for breakfast. I tried it in both wasabi mayo and chili aioli sauce. You can taste a slight wasabi in the wasabi mayo. I noticed that the chili aioli was a little more sweeter. But overall you really couldn't tell the difference.... Well I couldn't. I got my plates with fried rice and over easy eggs. The fried rice had the perfect amount of meat to rice ratio. (I hate when people over do it with meat in their fried rice. THEY DONT! I loved it.) Eggs were also cooked perfectly. Garlic furikake chicken was mentioned as a LOCAL favorite so you know I had to order it. Sadly, I didn't care for it. Looked like chicken, tasted like fish. Weird. Their Mac salad with the chicken plate was tasty they put tuna in it and those pickled cucumber, tasted homemade.... Not sure if it was or not but it was good. Parkings right in front or on the side. There plenty of parking. So that's a PLUS! I also noticed on the side of Kaya's they had a shave ice store. It wasn't opened when I got there but seemed to be apart of the store. Inside the store there is all kine stuff! Desserts from local businesses, lemon peel gummies, musubis, foods, condiments, drinks, dog food, shirts, toys, fishing gear and BBQ stuff. All kine! It's a good convenient store, especially if you missing a few stuff for go around the island or whatever's. Customer service was ok. read more

3.5 Stars. Driving on the east side of Oahu, we stopped by Kaya's Store/Kitchen to get some snacks and drinks. Cute mom and pop store, small intimate place. They also had a window you could order plate lunches from. Unfortunately, we were heading to another place to try, so we did not get anything here.
