My husband and I ordered the Mongolian beef with ahi cakes, the char siu with ahi cakes, and the Teri burger. We started with the Teri burger, which was served with a pineapple slaw on top. The patty was thick and juicy, which was also completely unexpected. The Mongolian beef was well-executed - a good balance of meat and bell peppers; I was expecting this dish to be too spicy for me, but I found it to be just right. The ahi cakes were huge, so you would think they would be dry...you would also be wrong. They were perfectly dense while still moist, with the perfect aioli drizzled on top. The bonus? You get two! I recently had the pleasure of dining at Kaya's Kitchen in Panalu'u, and I must say, it was an experience that exceeded my expectations. This charming mom and pop restaurant truly embodies the spirit of aloha, providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made me feel like a local rather than a tourist. The service at Kaya's Kitchen was nothing short of excellent. From the moment I walked in, the friendly staff made me feel right at home. They were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about their food. I was particularly impressed with their willingness to suggest new menu items and provide recommendations based on my preferences. Now, let's talk about the star of the show--their Loco Moco. In my opinion, Kaya's Kitchen serves the best Loco Moco on the entire island! The dish was a perfect blend of flavors, with a juicy patty, a perfectly cooked egg, and a rich, savory gravy that had me craving for more. The portion size was generous, leaving me completely satisfied yet longing for my next visit. What truly sets Kaya's Kitchen apart is the genuine care and personal touch they bring to every interaction. As a tourist, it can be challenging to find an authentic local experience, but at this restaurant, I felt like a welcomed guest. We were able to take our food out to the benches to enjoy the scenery and to savor the meal and create lasting memories. If you're in Panalu'u or anywhere near the North Shore, I highly recommend paying a visit to Kaya's Kitchen. The outstanding service, warm atmosphere, and the best Loco Moco on the island make it a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic Hawaiian dining experience. If you're heading for the North Shore, you must stop here. It's inside Kaya's Store in Punaluu. Lots of parking. I had the Pan Fried Ahi with Wasabi Aioli - incredible! Diced fresh Ahi sautéed in Onions. My friend had the Furikake Garlic Chicken - Wow! Lots of Garlic and onions and topped with Furikake. Each plate comes with namasu and potato mac salad. A lot of attention was given to the sides as they were balanced and perfect complements to the main dish. We grabbed our drinks and their famous Butter Mochi and paid at the Store Register. Kaya's Kitchen is an absolute gem! Their coconut shrimp is simply divine, crispy on the outside and perfectly succulent on the inside--easily the best I've ever tasted. They always have spam musubi available, a delightful treat that brings a taste of Hawaii to every bite.
