Stopped by on a cold, rainy Wednesday night for AYCE. The restaurant had plenty of empty tables, and the staff were all super nice and helpful. We did the AYCE B menu. The rules are pretty standard for any AYCE: everyone at the table has to do the same menu, don't sit there all day, don't waste meat, and you can only order another plate once you finish a plate. Let's jump into it. Sides: Soooo many sides. You got salad, beansprouts, tofu skin, picked radish, kimchi, egg rolls, rice, corn cheese, steamed egg, and soybean paste stew. I know some of them are fillers, but they're all actually really really good. Our favorite is the soybean paste stew. There are also unlimited refills on the sides as well. Meat: The meat portions on each plate can vary. The sliced meats can go by quickly, but the LA Galbi portions are big for two people. Quality wise, the meats are superb, and I would definitely recommend this place. My personal favorites are the classics: the LA Galbi and Pork Belly. The beef tongue was pretty good as well. Not a huge fan of the Pork Ribs though; the fat to meat ratio was a bit too high for my taste. Robot: Super cute robots. Our server said that they are meant to deliver thin, non-marinated meats that are sliced to-order. When the robot rolls up to your table, you can just grab your plate and hit the OK button on the screen to send it to its next destination. Service: As mentioned, the staff were really nice in explaining how the AYCE process worked and in answering any of our questions. The meat came out pretty quickly, so no need to worry about ordering more plates ahead of time. There's also a Call button at the table if you need your server. The whole process was pretty efficient. Is the B menu worth it? From a get-your-money's-worth perspective, I definitely think so, and this particular visit was a special occasion. However, if you're on a budget and can stand to part with the LA Galbi, the A menu has more than enough delicious options to have a great time. read more

So this was my 1st K BBQ experience and I enjoyed it! I went with all you can eat group B option and was not disappointed. The bulgogi and galbi were phenomenal! Definitely my fav meats. I also loved the spicy shrimp. The sides they give are pretty dang good too. The salad is devine! The corn cheese is decadent and delicious. The fried tempura is equally good! The wait time wasn't bad at all since we arrived at the peek of dinner time. We checked in for 2 and within 20 minutes were seated. We'd never been here before and our server, AJ, was so helpful with everything! He was really on the ball about answering our questions, taking our additional meat and side orders when we requested it, brining us more sides and water, just an awesome server! The food was absolutely amazing and everything was fresh! We ordered Green Grape Soju (first time trying it!) and although it didn't hit home for me (the green grape flavor was wonderful but it didn't mix with the alcohol itself in my opinion since I was able to identify the two different tastes) my husband loved it! My relatives came into town this past week, but all the other restaurants nearby were too crowded so we decided to try this new place out. We were a party of 8 with 7 adults and 1 kid and decided to do the all you can eat option which came to around 300-400 in total with tips. They automatically charge 20% tips for parties of 6 or more, which I was fine with. However, I felt like our server didn't care about us enough to come back and check in on us much after the initial talk. We had to ask another server to help us take pictures, get more banchan, and I noticed different servers (not ours) brought out our dishes as well. At times we had to get up to find a server. Our server came to our table probably twice in our entire visit, and other servers each help them out once. It wasn't that we weren't taken care of because other servers pitched in to help, but I just feel like our particular server didn't do enough. There was another table of 4-5 that sat in our server's section right across from us and I noticed our server spent 10 minutes talking to them and giving recommendations, while never even turning to check on us. We ended up asking another server for the check after waiting for 15 minutes after our grill was turned off because our server was still busy with their party of 4-5. Food was tasty, you really can't go wrong with grilled meat and dipping sauce. Compared to other bbq places like Charms, the marination (octopus & soy sauce galbi) was better and jigae was less salty & more tasty. Table was a bit small, so that was a bit of an inconvenience. We couldn't fit everything on our table and had to reorganize it quite often. I love Korean BBQ. Really wanted to like this place and give it 5 stars. The interiors were nice and the servers are good people. But... Two plates of our beef were literally spoiled on the edges (some parts were black/oxidized aka brown) with a funky smell. I don't know if they tried "trimming" the bad parts off to salvage the "good parts", but our meat tasted like rotten grass after we cooked them. I have been eating beef, steak, and Korean BBQ all my life if you know you know... The smell and taste of spoiled beef is instantly recognizable. Ammonia. And we were pretty sure we were not the only ones who had bad meat. How did I infer this? When I went to the men's toilet I was first greeted with a foul stench. The whole bathroom was filled with a terrible, disgusting smell of human feces. When I walked into a stall there was a toilet you can tell was once clogged up to the brim with either vomit or diarrhea. It was a bizarre experience, especially having to inhale the smell after eating beef that tasted like rotten grass. However I found solace in knowing that I was not the only one who had spoiled food. Solidarity to that unfortunate gentleman. I took a picture of the unfortunate accident but I don't think Yelp will approve the image. When our waitress found out about our beef she told us she was going to get the manager for us. We sat there for about 5 mins and the manager never came so we just left. We were excited to try a new Korean BBQ restaurant. I had heard about K BBQ and its recent opening. We finally got a chance to try it out and I have to say I am quite pleased. We chose to go with AYCE type A. It is super sad that we didn't get a chance to try the LA Galbi, but I could not justify the extra $10 per person. The wife and I weren't too hungry, maybe next time. Type A comes at $36 per person, about average price for Austin. I think our favorites were the Bulgogi and Chadol. Both of these were very flavorful and tasty. We also tried the Samgyupsal, Chicken Teriyaki and Baby Octopus(only try if adventurous). The sides were pretty tasty but we were surprised at the vegetable eggroll. Restaurant was clean and service was pretty good. It was definitely a good experience and I'm so happy a new Korean BBQ place has opened up in Austin. full disclosure, we had to wait at least 2 hours to be seated for a party of 7, but I think much of that is due to the establishment not opening at full capacity yet. Austin has been extremely lacking in the kbbq scene, but I would say K BBQ managed to exceed expectations. Located in the 99 Ranch plaza, the wait wasn't all too bad as we were able to wander around other stores while we waited. Once seated, the service was quite commendable, with us getting our meats within 5 minutes each order. From the bonchon to the meats, I had no complaints and felt the quality far exceeded that of other kbbq joints here. The establishment offers 3 pricing tiers at ~30, 40, 50$ respectively, with the higher 2 offering innards and other specialities. I'd love to go into more detail regarding the taste, but I was so hungry I don't think I took the time to let my taste buds register it. Definitely check it out if you're craving kbbq though, I can personally vouch ! On a final note, I believe those little server robots they have must be a marketing scheme from the company who manufactured them, because they literally provide nothing besides impede business interactions. A human server has to follow them everywhere they go, and if they happen to be left unattended they begin wandering aimlessly serving empty tables. If you've lived here for awhile, you know that the only other choice for AYCE is Charm, and not only is quality and menu choice lacking, but it is 'far' from central Austin. K BBQ is in a great location inside the plaza where Ranch 99 and 85C reside. Very convenient for those who live near downtown. We arrived around 6:15pm on Saturday during the soft opening week (10/2). We finally got seated around 9:00pm. The wait was horrible. Obviously, this wouldn't be acceptable during normal operations, but it was understood that capacity was reduced and workers are still learning processes. Either way, be prepared to wait as there were tons of people coming in to put their name down on the iPad to get on the list. BBQ Chicken next door is a great place to pregame before feasting on meat. They had a buy 2 get 1 soju deal going on. The meat quality was excellent, on par with what I've had in Carrolton. Pretty close to what I've had in LA. I loved all the exotic cuts they carried too. Tongue, intestine, stomach, they have everything here. The banchan was excellent. They had all the popular ones. They also had the good stuff for dipping sauce. There is also a robot that helps bring meats out. Now, the service and cleanliness was pretty bad. We received our waters and banchan after we received our first meat plate. The employees need some training on processes and what should all come out. A table next to us arrived after, but they had a different server and received all their sides and drinks before us (???). Note there is a button at your table which you can push to request your server to come to you. The bathrooms were absolutely filthy, and the stalls looked like they were flooded. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since it was soft opening and everyone is still learning...but if these issues can be fixed no doubt this will be one of the best spot for kbbq in Austin. Price is fair. We all did level B and ordered 3 bottles of soju. Turned out to be $58 pp for 6. 5 stars for food quality 2 stars for service and cleanliness It should be 3 stars overall, but I will give 4 stars overall since it was just soft opening. K bbq in Austin is a fairly new place. Th menu items start at $29 and up. One can buy a combo if you have a large party, which we did. The least expensive was $130 for 4 people. If you buy individual dishes you cannot take leftovers home, but you can with the combo, so I recommend the combo even for a small party. Now for the food...raw wagu beef in rolls, raw varieties of pork. You cook at the table on the grill. My favorite was the pork belly! tiny raw octopus was served also (it was marinated in hoisin sauce so it was a bit fishy). A salad served family style. It was very wilted and very spicy. That's why they received a 4. Served summer kimchi one was spicy the other was sweet, the macaroni salad and the corn was in a cream sauce with cheese, delish! Came at 7:30 on a Saturday. There were 59 parties ahead of us so it took 2 and a half hours before our table was ready. One thing that I found frustrating was that I had to call them to ask if our table was ready instead of them calling us. The girl that responded said "sure we can seat you" as if there had been empty tables for a while and they had just forgot about us. The food was pretty decent. We all got part A, the most basic option. My friends and I liked the wagyu beef belly the most. It was super fatty and had flavor. Other meats that were pretty good was the chadol and pork belly. Some things we got that weren't so good was spicy pork belly, chicken, and garlic pork belly. The spicy and the chicken took forever to cook, while the garlic one was too garlic-y. Also, most of the sides like the stew and egg were too salty. Overall, pretty good kbbq spot in Austin, if not the best just because there's a lack of options here. I have to say this was my first DIY cooking experience and wow I enjoyed it. We had a 51 minute wait to get a table for 3 but I believe it was worth it. The sides were all great except the one covered with a single pickled jalapeño (sorry I don't know what it is!). I really enjoyed the dressing on the salad and the kimchi was fresh. The service was terrible when I came here for the soft opening so I waited to write a review. I came here last week on a Tuesday night and service has greatly improved. My friend and I were seated right away and our server got our appetizers and side dishes out as soon as we sat down. Once we placed the order for the meats, it came out in less than 5 minutes. The server also made sure to change out our grill before the second round of meat. Everything was more enjoyable now they've got their service down. This restaurant recently opened in September of 2021. We decided to give this place a try and see what the rave was all about. It's clean and the service was perfect. Very attentive with bringing us our "all you can eat" menu selections. We stuck with the A standard menu which was plentiful for 3 of us. My favorites were the spicy pork belly, bulgogi's, and rib eye. The banchan (side dishes), especially the egg rolls that were substituted for the tempura that was not available, the other sides were not as flavorful as it appeared. The octopus and the pork galbi was also not a favorite, you be the judge. I would definitely drive 25 miles again for a 2nd round. It is a price shock, however it is enough food. The server was great, he changed out my grill any time it had the slightest amount of fond, which even though I said it was fine and I didn't want it changed he forced on me. My husband and I hit up KBBQ about once a month after our workouts as a protein-filled treat for being consistent at the gym. Service is good, the portions are nicely sized, and the environment is nice and clean. Parking's kind of a mess but that's only because they share a parking lot with the rest of the businesses in The Crescent shopping mall, which are very popular. The waitstaff are efficient, almost to a fault, as they'll come to change our grill out when we're in the middle of cultivating some tasty browning on our samgyupsal. I love these types of restaurants! Nephew and I went here for lunch for the first time. The waiter coached us on the best way to order so we weren't hungry 2 hours later vs being full for 7-8 hours. Start with the non seasoned meat, eat veggies, then round 3 or 4 try the seasoned meat. You will feel full but not thanksgiving full. We chose the all you can eat option A and tried the bulgogi, spicy pork, pork belly, pork loin, and wagyu beef...my favorite was the spicy pork (wasn't too spicy, very flavorful). With option A you also get cold sides...spicy cucumbers, garlic noodles, seaweed, kimchi, tofu to be used as palette cleansers and add additional flavor to the meat. We tried this place on a Friday night, checking in around 7:30 pm. They said we had 27 parties in front of us but I like that you leave your number and can go walk around the plaza and check out stores. Now, I've been to Korea and eaten Korean extensively as I've studied the culture and we are with someone from Seoul, and overall we had a great experience. In total we ordered 6 meat dishes from the AYCE $32 menu. Bulgogi, wagyu, the soy and garlic samgyupsal and the soy and garlic pork ribs. Love the robot waiters and our server was nice and attentive. We also got the soybean paste stew, cheesey corn, tempura, and house salad as sides. Our waitress was awesome with refilling them and the tempura was GOOD! Perfectly fried Ans not greasy. I also loved the banchan they brought- marinated sprouts and fish cake and cucumber and a few others. SO MUCH FOOD!! you do have to ask for rice if you want it. There was so much more we didn't try and I can't wait to go back! I will agree with some of the other reviewers that the meat can be seasoned better. Also, the markup on soju here is particularly offense! $15.50!! What they don't realize is I was would EASILY buy 2-3x more soju of it was even $5 cheaper. Say $10 bottle and we got two versus being $15 Aand I refuse to pay that more than once. Our Korean friend was pleased overall and I found the selection and side dishes way better here than charm or Chosun, esp for the price. I've been wanting to try this Korean BBQ restaurant for a while now and I'm so glad that I did. The meats and side dishes were delicious. My favorite was the beef bulgogi -- in this case, thinly sliced rib eye marinaded in the traditional sweet soy sauce. The spicy pork was my second favorite. I especially like the softer texture of the pork; and the fattiness of the pork balances nicely with the spiciness of the marinade. Of the banchans (side dishes), I especially liked the fish cakes, pickled cucumber, and kimchi. We washed it all down with a couple ice cold beers. Shrimp was served with shell (ok) but it was so small, it was hard to deshell and eat (bad). The Bulgogi was the most disappointing. To top it off, it's expensive, especially for the quality.
