They offer comfortable seating arrangements. There is also nice bar area where you can sit at and order your drinks and food. By far, this is one of my favorite restaurants in Texas. Their Cajon food is one of the best I have had outside of New Orleans. My go to is their Crawfish Étouffée but there are many other Cajon dishes to try. Their service is always top notch and they have allot of hospitality throughout your entire dinning experience. The interior of their restaurant takes after the New Orleans style and reminds me of being there. Even when we go through Dallas airport, we try to schedule time between our flights so we can get dinner at another Pappadeaux's restaurant located on one of their terminals. We came by on a weekday to celebrate a birthday with a large group. It wasn't too busy thankfully and our waiter was awesome! We were seated quickly and he even allowed us to switch tables as we had additional guest arrive unexpectedly. We ordered the Alligator, Calamari and Mozzarella sticks for appetizers and they were all tasty. For my entree I ordered the Mississippi Catfish Opelousas which was amazing, flavor packed and filling. Looking forward to trying this again. Still a solid location to visit. Consistent in food and the ambience is nice. Good 90's R&B playing this evening so got to jam along. Arrived close to 7pm and got sat right away. The hostess were very friendly and she asked me how my day was going on the way to the table. Diane was my server and she was ok, didn't interact much. She dropped the menu and picked up the ticket without a greeting, when she did return asked for a drink. Asked if I wanted bread on the way to drop food at another table and dropped the tea shortly after. When she did return to ask about an appetizer, I already knew what I wanted to order. FIRST OF ALL MANAGEMENT Was not very nice. My daughter and a few of her colleagues made a very big accomplishment. We walked in an asked for a table that would seat at least 11. The host at the desk was attempting to assist and the manager said that table is not available the hostess said yes they canceled. She preceded to go back and forth with her staff and finally walked off. We were then seated and accommodated according to our request. From then on it was smooth sailing. I've been to Pappadeaux several times now and literally have never left disappointed. Their food is amazingggg and so incredibly tasty. Their service also always on point. Pro tip- make a reservation if going on a weekend because it'll save you significant amount of waiting time! Our usuals: 1. Been to several Pappadeaux's now and this one is consistent. Our server was superb, she really went out of her way to make sure we enjoyed our meal (eg. Offering to let me switch meals if I didn't like what I ordered). My party of 5 came around 6pm on a Monday and didn't need a reservation. I had the Mississippi Catfish Opelousas. It was very tasty and a good portion. A little spicy, but no complaints from me. Everyone else also enjoyed their meal. Popped in for dinner Saturday night, and they were packed. We were seated quickly even though we didn't have a reservation. Our server was very friendly. Things moved kind of slow with getting drinks and food, but our server was very apologetic and offered us a free dessert. We definitely understood, as they got slammed all at one time. The bread was a bit over cooked and dry, but we enjoyed the rest of the food. The calamari and octopus was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. The soft shell crab was excellent! The roasted oyster were very flavorful, but a bit greasy and salty for my taste. I could only eat two of the six. I had a couple of martinis, but I don't recommend them. They were very watered down and had very little vodka. They also ran out of glasses. So they served my last one in a champagne flute. It was a decent dining experience but not great. read more

I came to Pappadeaux to celebrate myself for my birthday, and it was exactly the energy I needed. I started with the Crab & Spinach Dip with parmesan crostini. Creamy, seasoned, not shy on flavor. Perfect start. Then came the star: the Wild-Caught Red Snapper with jumbo lump crab, lemon butter, toasted almonds, and that sautéed spinach. The spinach was so good I had to pause mid-bite and stare at the plate. The fish was grilled just right, tender and flaky. The crab was delicious too, though I would have appreciated a little more considering the price. Still, the dish was well-executed and memorable. The Dirty Rice was a whole experience on its own -- perfectly seasoned, deep flavor, and absolutely worth mentioning by name. The woman sitting next to me at the bar ordered the Oven-Baked Crab Cake. I snagged a taste (with permission, I promise!). Perfect texture, perfect seasoning, and that lemon caper butter was the right kind of bright. Great vibes, clean environment, attentive staff. And the Old Fashioned they made me? Not too sweet, not too strong, just smooth and grown. And they sent me home with a complimentary Key Lime dessert to wrap up my birthday dinner. This is one of my favorite spots for date night, lunch, and even curbside pickup. The services always super friendly and accommodating. The food is always delicious and consistent. I love the house salad and house creamy vinaigrette, The fresh bread with butter, and all of the seafood options. I wish you were able to select the different toppings on the different fish instead of paying so much extra. But there's nothing you can do about that. I had lunch at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen on I-35 in Austin today, and it was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. What's surprising is that Pappadeaux has always been one of my go-to restaurants. Today, however, both the food and the service were disappointing. I ordered the salad and the shrimp gumbo and shrimp po'boy combination. The salad was the only thing on the plate that was edible. The gumbo was completely flavorless. It tasted like watered-down broth instead of a rich, well-made roux. The "Holy Trinity" of Cajun cooking--celery, onions, and bell peppers--was nowhere to be found. Pappadeaux's gumbo has always been on the lighter side, but at least it used to taste good. Today, I couldn't taste any okra, could barely find any rice, and even the shrimp lacked flavor. The shrimp po'boy wasn't any better. It was dry, bland, and devoid of seasoning. If there was mayonnaise or any other dressing on it, I couldn't taste it. I didn't dissect the fried shrimp, but they were so flavorless they could have passed for imitation seafood. I've eaten a lot of Cajun food in my life, and this was some of the blandest food I've ever been served. The service was just as frustrating. I asked for French bread, which has traditionally been complimentary. Instead, they brought garlic bread. When I pointed it out, the waiter told me the garlic bread was "much better." I disagreed and asked for French bread and butter. It never arrived, but they certainly remembered to put it on the bill. Years ago, one of their chefs introduced me to chopped garlic on their house salad with the creamy vinaigrette. So I asked for a side of chopped garlic. They brought fried garlic instead. I ate only a few spoonfuls of gumbo and a couple of bites of the po'boy before asking for the check. Most restaurateurs would recognize that as a sign something is seriously wrong. Apparently, not here. Since my waiter had disappeared--completely MIA--I flagged down a manager to remove the charge for the garlic bread I never ordered. He promptly corrected the bill and brought it back. Then he asked if I wanted a to-go box. "No," I replied. "The food was horrible." His response was, "I wish you had said something sooner. I would have taken care of it." I suppose it was too late by then because they had already run my credit card. In the end, I donated $45 to the Pappas family. I won't be returning voluntarily, nor will I recommend Pappadeaux to visitors looking for authentic Cajun food. Unfortunately, my wife is a Texan and still enjoys the place, so I may find myself there again for birthdays or Mother's Day. But at their prices, I refuse to spend my money on food that tastes like a rice cake with seafood added as an afterthought. Austin, consider yourself warned. In my opinion, Pappadeaux hasn't been the same since COVID. Eat there at your own risk. read more

Pappadeaux was directly across the street from our hotel, so we stopped here for lunch. I wish we had this restaurant here in Northern CA. This place was so good, I went twice on my trip. The first time, I had the Seafood Cobb Salad. Probably the best Cobb salad that I have ever had. The shrimp were fresh and big. Full avocado and perfectly cooked bacon. When I comeback to Austin, I am getting this again. Second time around I had the Shrimp Po boy sandwich. This was massive. I could only finish one side. It tasted great and French fries were perfectly cooked. Customer service went above and behind. I got halfway done with my Coke Zero and the waiter came through with a refill in a new glass cup. A+ service from this crew. The restaurant is real nice and clean. I saw they had a nice bar area with some TV's to catch a game at. Next time I will definitely do that. We were actually about to attend a YELP Elite event in Austin and I had a wardrobe malfunction with my old resurrected cowboy boots. This after creeping around searching for parking for about 20 mins. So I had to bail, didn't even go inside. Aaagh! As we were already dressed up for the occasion, I decided not to let the night go to waste. Went and grabbed a pair of "Hey Dudes" from Marshall's and drove to Pappadeaux Seafood. Tried to call, but no answer. Dreading a long wait, but when we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised and were seated within 5 mins. Our server "Avery L." was excellent. He had quite a few tables in his section, yet he was "On top of it". He provided some amazing dinner choices. He knows his stuff. As it was days away from our 20th anniversary, we decided to not look at prices, but enjoy the experience. Wife ordered " Seafood Tagliatelle", pasta over an assortment of seafood. She loved it. Was surprised when she figured out she was eating octopus, but the flavor was so good, she didn't mind. I ordered the "Salmon Alexander", Grilled Salmon, crispy skin down, with shrimp, langoustines, and scallops, in a brown butter sauce. The combination was a delicious blend of seafood and dirty rice. All and all we had a great time, until we asked about dessert. If I recall they had "Sweet Potato Pecan Pie", "Vanilla Bean New York cheesecake", an Amazing Bread Pudding, Key Lime pie and one more, (sorry). We were stuck between the Sweet potato pie and the Bread pudding. I conceited and we enjoyed the Bread Pudding. This was not your everyday pudding, oh no! Rum soaked raisins, baked in a texture similar to "Tres Leches", and topped with Hagen-Daz vanilla ice cream. OMG, I was stuffed. The was the best meal I've enjoyed here in a while. We enjoyed our company dinner at Pappadeaux, with afairly large group that they were able to accommodate. for that alone, they deserve 5 stars. i ordered the Atlantic salmon Alexander with carrots (instead of rice). They askhow do you prefer your salmon cooked. I went with medium well and that seemed delicious and with good texture. I recommend the chocolate martini as an appetizer and the cheesecake to wrap up the dinner. The service was excellent. Most of the group was very happy with the choice of this location for our group dinner. We will be returning. read more

First I want to write that typically when I write a bad review, I try to get ahold of the restaurant first to see if we can resolve. The main corporate was quick to respond and said they would forward my feedback below to the general manager and I should hear from them. It's been a week, no response. I figured if corporate was on the ball, the local restaurant would follow suit - not. I have eaten here before at this and other locations. I think the food is expensive, but very good. I think in most cases it is worth it. But on this ocasion, food was not best. We were asked if we wanted bread with our meal. We said yes. The waiter said he would bring us some garlic bread. Bread took forever. While tasty, not all that. The restaurant had at least 10 servers standing around, but service was quite slow. At meal arrival, we asked for ticket due to slowness & our next appointment was fast approaching. We noted a charge for bread. Would never have agreed to it if not complimentary. Ticket shows wrong time for some odd reason. We were never asked if we wanted refills. At $6.95 for a glass of lemonade I would think so to include a take out cup if the customer wanted. read more

There are a few choices around downtown but I came to old faithful..again, and the Waitress recommended the snapper special. Said she doesn't even like fish really, and she loved it. I went for it. It says something like line-caught snapper, fresh gulf shrimp and jumbo crab. Comes with a ginger sautéed bok choy. I added a side of dirty rice and house salad, and I'm loving every bit of it all. The entree did come a little early and the butter for their crunchy French bread was unusually cold but who cares. I tried the new SeaBass special last time and it was excellent too. The staff is always very helpful. They have a large room in the back which would be perfect for bigger groups/private parties. Love the drink selection, I tried an island drink which was delicious. My husband and I have frequented the Doubletree nextdoor many times over the years as we travel frequently. We have never once dined at Pappadeauxs. Tonight we knew we wanted a delicious meal and after reading the reviews we decided to give it a try. And boy did they knock it out of the park. My husband had the crispy salmon and I had the Alexander. My husband typically mauls his meal but tonight he savored every morsel slowly. Everything was just superb. Even the key lime pie. Our waiter Kenny was over the top hospitable and added a touch of class to our experience. He truly should be at the highest establishments in NYC. He's a gem! Side note: We had an issue with a patron at a nearby table that was ruining our experience but the manager handled it promptly and gracefully and we still walked away with an excellent experience. We always ask each other would you come back (this after we had seafood in San Francisco last week and said NO there). Our answer is a resounding yes, we will be back! Nice job everyone. This was a spur of the moment decision. My friend and I needed to meet up to exchange Christmas gifts and she picked this restaurant. I haven't been in here a long time but I was excited. It feels just like it did years ago. Frozen in time but trust me, with how quickly Austin is changing it's definitely not a bad thing. I got the fried seafood platter (about $40). It was AMAZING. It's so easy to overcook seafood but they always do it right. Not only is the food done to perfection but there's a lot of it. A mound of french fries under a pile of fried perfection...doesn't get any better! The only disappointment is that I couldn't eat as much as I wanted because I still had a workout to do and all that fried deliciousness wouldn't settle well during. Super excited to come and try this place. With all of the high ratings I had high expectations. If you want to make reservations you have to do it online. We called and they would not take our reservations so very the phone and directed us to go online or just be a walk-in. You can also chance being a walk in. The place is huge and holds probably more than 200 patrons and that is not even including seating at the bar. When we arrived at 6pm for our 6:15 reservation, they seated us right away. People just kept coming in. Saw about 15 wait staff. This place was packed. No one really had to wait too long to get seated. Decor had a nautical and old time feel with its gas flamed lanterns, exposed beams, dim lighting, stuff fish, buoy and compasses hanging from everywhere. The floors were carpeted but didn't do enough to absorb the noice of all of the conversations going on. It was quite noisy. One could barely hear themselves or their table mates without raising their voices. Here is what we ordered and our quick overview of each. - Fried calamari and octopus; they forgot my lemon aioli. Fried nice and crunchy but was quite salty. (-) - Cup of gumbo with shrimp was good with plenty of shrimp -got 6 big pieces. On par with the gumbo we had in NOLA. (+) - Halibut & Shrimp with almonds and crispy Brussels sprouts. You can see from my pictures that they gave me peanuts instead of almonds and the sprouts were soggy and oily. Not one piece was crispy. This was very disappointing. ( - - ) - Cobb Salad with Shrimp. Large portion, all fresh ingredients but was served with creamy Italian dressing. Even though we normally do not use dressing on our salads because we like to taste each ingredient, we knew this was the wrong dressing normally served with Cobb salad and was delighted that the dressing was served on the side. (+) All in all I would say only come here if you cannot get into your preferred place or want a shorter wait compared to the place you really want to go. What a difference an employee can make!!! I was staying at the hotel in the same parking lot and wandered over because I love and miss Pappadeaux. The food was really good as always but one of the bartenders/servers (Horase) was so good...very friendly and interesting. Although he was busy and had a difficult customer at the bar, he always remained composed and took care of everyone...even turning around the difficult person.
