A rare big box/corporate review for me. I have been to other locations in the country and this was my first time at the Austin location. Tonight, my hubby and I dined at Ruth Chris Steakhouse with about 40 guests, filling the reserved back room and some overflow space. The meal started with a fresh garden salad lightly drizzled with vinaigrette dressing and hot sourdough bread. My husband had filet mignon (served slightly more done than medium‑well), while I had salmon that was crisp-edged, moist, and well-seasoned. The mashed potatoes were creamy and buttery. Dessert was cheesecake with assorted fresh berries, finishing the meal nicely. Service was slow with our entrees taking nearly an hour to be delivered to our table. Dessert was also delayed. Staff rarely checked in without us prompting them. The food was enjoyable, but the sluggish service detracted from the experience. The atmosphere is romantic with dimly lit lighting, black and white along with colorful paintings. Next time, we visit Ruth Chris Steakhouse we will not come with a group. Every aspect of our time at Ruth's Chris Restaurant, Austin, Texas was fabulous! We were greeted by a lovely, positive hostess, the table was set with linen, small red and pink metallic hearts in celebration of our 45th wedding anniversary covered the table, the manager, Ms B. English was most attentive to our party of 5 adults and one child, Executive Chef Mr. J. Cervantes prepared two delicious hors d'oeuvres, five divine entrees, five extra sides, and three fancy desserts! Not only were all of the dishes artfully presented, but each bite was extremely delectable! Service: First shout out to the manager Katie, she's amazing and you can tell she's a great leader and wants her customers to have an enjoyable experience! Second shout out to server Cameron! We literally ask for him now we love him he's attentive, patient, kind, and laughs at our jokes lol. Overall the service here has never failed me whether I've sat at the bar , or in the dining area, the hostess are kind even the valet. I'd always choose to spend my money where the service is outstanding and this Ruth Chris does it every time and I frequent this place so I would know. Food: my food is always prepared the way I request it. My fav Ruth classics just never miss. Compliments to the chefs here over 3 years they have been ultra consistent. Ambiance: this is downtown but doesn't feel like it when you step inside. It's very clean, bathrooms included (that's important). They usually have music playing subtly and I always enjoy myself whether I'm alone, with the kids, date night, or girls night, they've done well for all my occasions. Faith was our server, she was so friendly and considerate. We originally scheduled our dinner for 615pm and ended up getting into downtown sooner than expected, they sat us right away, an hour early! Everyone loved the bread, even requested seconds and one to take home. The lobster tail was to die for, shrimp was also tasty, all sides are definitely shareable and delicious. Everyone loved their main dishes. We also ordered crab stuffed mushrooms and calamari, was not able to snag a photo but definitely recommend. Ruth's Chris of Austin was truly an experience, and I'd love to share why. Our server, Katelyn, was one of a kind. She walked us through the different steak cuts with confidence and clarity, even recommending the best knives to use and explaining why. Once she found out we were celebrating our anniversary, she offered us a complimentary glass of champagne--such a thoughtful touch. We ordered the porterhouse, a filet, mushrooms, and the lobster mac. Everything was spot-on. The food was served on warm plates to keep it hot throughout the meal, and the sides were both delicious and shareable. We even had enough to take home. The atmosphere was clean, welcoming, and elegant. A special shout-out to the valet attendant who was working hard solo--he was hustling and still had a great attitude. The main course I had the Chilean Sea Bass, Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Asparagus. The potatoes were my fav they were velvety smooth and packed with flavor. The Sea Bass was a bit on the drier side. I probably will not order this item again. Decent flavor, but just not for me. I was trying to stay away from red meat this evening. We dined here on Valentine's Day 2025. We opted for Valet parking from the restaurant. It was $15 which is not abnormal for valet parking in Austin. The ambiance was fantastic - quiet enough to have a conversation but not so quiet that you felt like you're in a library. The service from our waiter was outstanding. He recommended a few side dishes and appetizers that were perfect for both of us. He also was kind and packed up our leftovers for us. The food itself was very good. This one is hard for me to explain somewhat. We've always had exceptional service and food hear including the alcohol options. With us not the biggest drinkers we normally try and order a couple to share. With that said we were not disappointed. But as lightweight drinkers, two will do as they are stronger than most bars. The food was and always has been top notch, last night was no different. Plate comes sizzling and we go there because we've never had a better steak experience and wouldn't hesitate to tell anyone with a $200+ budget to go. This is the only downside if there could be one. Once we were finally seated, the experience didn't improve much. My steak came out extremely charred, to the point it affected the flavor, and my wife's steak was overcooked. For a steakhouse, that's a pretty big miss. On top of that, the service was very slow. It felt like we were forgotten about for long stretches of time, and it was difficult to get consistent attention from our waitress. The sides were also disappointing -- the mac & cheese and mashed potatoes were both lukewarm when they arrived, which made them feel like they had been sitting out. Decided to spontaneously come here with my parents on a Friday night, and was able to get a reservation an hour from our spontaneous decision. The restaurant itself is nice, decorated and on par with other steak houses. I ordered the "Ruth's Classic- Filet Mignon and Lobster Tail." I chose Lobster Bisque for the Soup, and was pretty disappointed with how the soup tasted. I'm a huge fan of Lobster Bisque and had it from many places. This specific serving was very subpar. Aside from amazing food, the service here is second to none, the managers, waiters, hostess and even the vale'. All of them are super friendly and accommodating. Beautiful location and the staff was very friendly and attentive. Our server accidentally spilled drinks on two of our guests, and mistakes happen. They took care of it immediately, assisted the spilled upon parties in the bathroom, and the manager came out to help and give us his info for the dry cleaning bill. Despite that hiccup, our server was still amazing as we ordered and had dinner. The steaks are as flavorful, perfectly cooked, and tender as we have always remembered and expect from Ruth's Chris brand. Met friends here after work and took advantage of happy hour specials. It was early evening on Tuesday, so there were plenty of seats at the bar. The bartender, Chance provided excellent service! As soon as we took our seats, he was there delivering glasses of water, asking for our drink orders. He answered questions and offered options. When he returned with our drinks and a loaf of bread, we placed our food order. The happy hour menu includes appetizers and sandwiches at a reasonable price. It didn't take long before our delicious shrimp appetizer arrived, followed by our sandwiches. The steak sandwich was great and the fries were phenomenal. The setting made for a nice early dinner with friends, allowing us to unwind and catch up. The best move is coming to Ruth Chris for happy hour and sitting at the bar watching tv. You really can't go wrong with their happy hour prices and selection. I got the filet and shrimp on happy hour, it wasn't the best filet but for the price it was fine. We split the fried zucchini fries and Caesar salad. My boyfriend ordered the steak sandwich. He said it was alright - next time he wants to get the burger. Staff was nice. My only complaint was the other guests dining at the bar were extremely loud and annoying which is surprising for behaving like that in a steakhouse right next to the dining room where others can hear. I was told there would be at least a one-hour wait. Why do people make reservations or receive reservations if the establishment will honor them? Just wanted to say a big thank you to our waiter and all of the staff at this Ruth's Chris Steak House location for an amazing dining experience! We are here visiting from California. Nothing is open back there so we were pleasantly surprised that we could dine-in. The restaurant itself is so classy and beautiful and perfectly lit throughout. They did a great job with social distancing and masking as well. The service was 100% on point and the meal was excellent and perfectly cooked. I got the filet mignon with shrimp which was tender and seasoned amazingly. I also ordered the garlic mashed potatoes which tasted like homemade. They checked on our table often to make sure everything was fine and the manager even came out to say hello. I was there with my five-year-old daughter and they made it extra special! Went with my 89 YO Gammy how wanted to treat me to a very nice "memorable" dinner. There are several very disappointing miss steps throughout our meal. For starters, I requested the salad with dressing on the side. The salad arrived dress. The Romaine was anything but crisp. A soggy mess could not even taste the lettuce. I ordered the Cowboy Ribeye. By definition the Cowboy is a thicker cut than a regular Ribeye and is French cut exposing a longer bone. The steak was practically drowning in almost a stick of butter, vs. a dollop. Could not even taste the flavor of the steak it just tasted like butter. The final problem was Gammy's Filet was undercooked. She had loaded her plate with multiple sides, when she requested it be cooked a little more. Upon her steak returning to the table her sides were missing. Anniversary dinner on a Sunday evening. Pleasantly surprised with an anniversary card and rose petals on our table. The ambiance was pleasant and as expected in a moderately high end steak restaurant. I was somewhat disappointed the after the maitre'd told us to wait as our table was prepared and yet when we arrived at the table it was still set for four persons. Why? We both ordered adult beverages off the menu, a Pomegranate Martini ($15) for my wife and an Old Fashioned ($15) for me. The drinks were prompt and well balanced. Nice start. We then ordered the Sizzling Blue Crab Cake appetizer ($28). The appetizer was well prepared and hot although a bit on the small size. I wouldn't say it was a mouthwatering start but underwhelming and kind of bland but hey it was hot when it arrived. We both order the filet, medium rare. I got the 11oz ($62) and my wife the 8oz ($52) and loaded baked potatoes for us both ($13 each). The steaks were presented on an extremely hot plate with the potato as a side dish. The steaks were cooked a perfect medium rare. Maybe it is me but I enjoy a hint of flavoring on my steak in the form of some garlic or something and there was not a hint of that on these. If you just want "meat" then I guess it was perfect. Just not for me. The potatoes were HUGE, at least one pounders which is what the menu indicated. They were appropriately apportioned with condiments although I did ask for a little more butter. Of course they served bread with butter. The butter was room temperature so easily spread on the bread. The bread itself may have been baked in their kitchen but didn't stand out. Just bread. All in all a pleasant evening with an OK meal. I don't mind spending over $200 for a meal a couple of times per year but have started to figure out even when you spend that kind of money you really are not getting anything extraordinary.
