We tried this place on a Friday night, checking in around 7:30 pm. They said we had 27 parties in front of us but I like that you leave your number and can go walk around the plaza and check out stores. Now, I've been to Korea and eaten Korean extensively as I've studied the culture and we are with someone from Seoul, and overall we had a great experience. In total we ordered 6 meat dishes from the AYCE $32 menu. Bulgogi, wagyu, the soy and garlic samgyupsal and the soy and garlic pork ribs. Love the robot waiters and our server was nice and attentive. We also got the soybean paste stew, cheesey corn, tempura, and house salad as sides. Our waitress was awesome with refilling them and the tempura was GOOD! Perfectly fried Ans not greasy. I also loved the banchan they brought- marinated sprouts and fish cake and cucumber and a few others. SO MUCH FOOD!! you do have to ask for rice if you want it. There was so much more we didn't try and I can't wait to go back! I will agree with some of the other reviewers that the meat can be seasoned better. Also, the markup on soju here is particularly offense! $15.50!! What they don't realize is I was would EASILY buy 2-3x more soju of it was even $5 cheaper. Say $10 bottle and we got two versus being $15 Aand I refuse to pay that more than once. Our Korean friend was pleased overall and I found the selection and side dishes way better here than charm or Chosun, esp for the price. They also have a full menu if you don't want bbq and looking forward to trying that! read more

We ate so much at K BBQ for a late lunch that I could not stomach the idea of dinner. My nephew, our mutual friend, and I were running a half marathon the next day. They picked me up at the airport. We were trying to decide whether to eat and what. I looked at options: in Texas, it seems meat is the local preference (during the race, which I had run twice before, I saw more than one participant in a Texas Beef Council t-shirt). I actually have curtailed my consumption of animal protein significantly, but I am not a vegetarian, so my thinking was this would be a good venue at which to go all out. We were not disappointed. The format is all you can eat. They have several tiers of pricing. They also warn, as they should, against waste. Our friend had not had Korean BBQ before. You cook it yourself. I believe the burners for the unit in your table were not the best. I'd rather the flames were hotter/higher. That is a quibble. It worked out. We had beef, chicken, pork belly, and octopus. We also had the cheese corn and few other side dishes, and those little appetizers that are standard (banchan; although I am, it turns out according to genetic testing, partly of Korean ancestry, I was not raised with any Korean culture). My friend and I drank a bottle of makgeolli. The idea was if we did all this in the afternoon, we would have recovered before our race. I am not so sure this was the best idea. In any event, the server was superfriendly. She checked on us often. The smokiness was mild. That is hardly a complaint. One of the issues, if you are not familiar with this cuisine, is that a good night out will leave your clothing with signifiant odor, and, depending on the fabric, you might not be able to get out the scent -- which is fine, since it is a reminder of time well spent. That might be related to the style of burner. It was all milder. Another issue, which almost caused us to give up but if you consider it is in fact an excellent indication of quality, is the parking lot was just jammed. We circled for a good 10 minutes. The whole mall, on a Saturday afternoon, was bustling to an extent that challenges the notion that retail is in trouble. I would eat at K BBQ again. The only reason not to is that, of course, such a diet cannot be healthy if indulged in to excess. read more

I ate the bowl of rice since I was hungry (I'm pregnant) and was told after the fact that it would cost $1.99 for that quarter cup of rice I ate. There was no signage or anything about that - BEWARE. Then I got charged $12.99 for that quarter cup of rice on the bill. I complained and they did the right thing and removed it, but that never should have been an issue. Because of all this hassle I would not eat here again. Servers were nice though. Oh! I almost forgot. I had about a cup of japchae left that I wanted to take home. The restaurant policy is that the server must prepare your to go box and leave it for you at the front counter. I was confused as to why, but apparently it's to prevent you from taking any leftover food on your table to go. I usually do not leave reviews, and a bad review at that. But my experience here just made no sense. I visited this establishment last week for my friends birthday. And granted I am a vegetarian, so it did not make much sense for me to be here in the first place. Anyway, I showed up after my friends started eating and notified the waiter that I am vegetarian and most likely not going to each much. I even told him to charge me what he thought was fare and he even reiterated that himself saying it could be around 10-20$. The waiter came back a few minutes later saying that he talked to the manager and said they would not charge me at all, even though I was ok on paying. So I decided to chip in with my friends as I am a fair person. Moving on to a few days ago. My friend calls me saying that the restaurant charged for an extra person (ergo me) and that he called them and told them exactly what the waiter told us at the restaurant. This is when the restaurant says they went back and checked the tapes and said that it will stay because I ate some of the meatless sides that was part of the all you can eat. A professional establishment shouldn't go back on there word and not notify there customers on what the rules are. You know, I'm something of a Korean BBQ expert myself so naturally I had to try the newest K BBQ spot in town. We got the most basic combo A to evaluate the restaurant based on its core offerings. Since the menu is AYCE, we were almost able to try one of everything, half portions of course. Unfortunately, almost all of the items were a let down. Some of the meats and seafood didn't even taste fresh and it felt like they tried to mask it with excessive sauce. The only saving grace was the Chadol (aka no. 1 on menu A). I've come here many times and put up with the outrageous prices. The last two times have been horrible. They expect to charge luxury dining prices with fast food customer service. You'll spend $45 per person minimum there. In the middle of our dinner we sat there with no water, no food, and unable to get a server to help for over 30 minutes. Once I got my server and told him that we need water, more meat, a grill change, and that he needs to be more attentive, he responded with "Don't worry, I'm leaving town soon so it doesn't matter" ...??? The owner overheard and said "sorry, I just met him today". That's it. No solution for the horrible experience, not even a discount. If you can find another AYCE Korean BBQ, I would go with them. I am an absolute fiend for KBBQ, and this restaurant hit all the marks for me. I paid one reasonable price and had access to all the meats for the section I chose which was crazy to me! I got the chance to try all the meats that I never had a chance to, and because they allow you to choose the meat portion sizes, I never ordered too much. I was able to get what I loved while trying new meats without being charged for leftovers. With AYCE restaurants, I always feel like they want to charge you for leaving leftovers, but with K BBQ, they were intentional on portion sizes to prevent you from getting hit with extra fees. This was our first stop on our trip to Austin and it was delicious!! We went at 6:00 on a Thursday and there was no wait so we were seated right away. They immediately came to our table and delivered all our sides, which were all mediocre besides the rice noodle salad which was good, but you're not there for the sides. We ended up getting the most basic option of the all you can eat menu and everything was delicious! The pork belly was one of my favorites, it was marinated in a sweet soy marinade and when crisped up on the grill it was amazing! Another favorite was definitely the Waygu Beef Belly, it cooks super fast in the grill but we learned by the end that if you leave on there longer then you anticipated, it crisps up the fat and makes it even more delicious. Definitely ask for a side of soy sauce for the Brisket and Waygu, it gives you right amount of salty flavor you need since it isn't marinated in anything. The extra sides we got were spring rolls which were okay and corn cheese which isn't pictured because we devoured it. It was really unique and good! We also got Soju for the first time, it was so yummy and did not taste like it was 13% which is super dangerous. Overall, we really enjoyed it and would definitely go again!! read more

This place needs to be actually shut down. Health inspector needed ASAP! There are SO many flaws here but the most notable: some meat came out literally greenish brown, all proteins came out mostly frozen, the floors are so greasy that you slide with each step, water glasses had old food in them, bathrooms were blocked by huge carts of dishes, toilets were full of sh*t, and to top it all off this is THE MOST expensive kbbq place I've ever been to. $60 for all protein selections and the whole table has to do the same option. I only eat seafood so I was basically forced to do the $60 option since I wasn't too keen on filling up on just octopus and shrimp. The shrimp, btw, is horrendous. Shell and head on, and no wet wipes, so peeling them yourself is insanely messy and gross not to mention inconvenient for $60. read more

I could not be more disappointed. By far the worse experience I've ever had at Korean BBQ. We were sat around 8:30pm and were immediately greeted with red flags. We had 6 people and wanted to order sides - Steam eggs, and soup which is inc with the C option. We were given push back on ordering sides. After that for 6 people, we were only able to order a limit of 3 options at a time. I understood the limited table space; however this could have been easily avoided by given us bigger portions. One of the orders had 3 pieces of prime rib. When we tried to order the 2nd round of options, the server said they would be right back. This was 20m while we sat there after finishing all of our sides and options. The server then comes back and says its last call. We explained that we literally only had 3 plates total of options and the sever hesitantly said "I'll give you a few more to get your money's worth". This was extremely rude and condescending. We tried to order more sides and were told no. It was clear that this server was inexperienced which does happen when businesses are in "soft opening" the problem was the attitude in which it was conducted. With a new AYCE Kbbq option opening next to Hmart soon and Gangnam KBBQ opening up in South Austin. I will not be back here. I would not recommend this place to my worse enemies. Additional notes: At no time did a manager check up on our table. We did not get a refill on any of our banchan. Other tables around us seemed to get more service than us. Replacing the grills added additional time of our visit; I understand the need to do this but since the grills are stainless steal and not iron, the need to replace grills was 4-5 times in the 1hr.30min we were there. read more

I love Korean BBQ! So when I visited my sister in Austin she took me to K BBQ. It's actually all you can eat BBQ too! Yummmm. It's pricey but since this is all you can eat, I think the price is decent provided you can eat. Now it won't be worth it if I go by myself as I can only eat so much. But since I went with my sister and her bf, it's quite worth it. I did quite disappointed with the beef tongue and stomach. I think the cut they gave is not great for table top grill. I love the galbi, it was my favorite and my sister. My sister's bf like jumuluk. We also get the chadol. It was ok when you dip in on the sauce otherwise is plain because no seasoning unlike the galbi or jumuluk. It come with varieties of banchan. I would go back again if I visit my sister again (from Buffalo). Oh I almost forgot to mention the robot waitress. My sister told me it's common in the area now. So my siblings and I have been looking forward to another AYCE Korean BBQ option in Austin and so decided to come check out this place the second week after opening week on a Tuesday thinking it won't be too bad.. Well we got there at around 7:20 pm and was told by the host the wait is about an hour due to staffing.. cool no problem I thought.. I can check out Daiso while my siblings went to 99 Ranch and the rest of our party waited outside the restaurant. There were 6 of us total. We finally got seated at 8:40 pm and I thought, cool we have plenty of time as they close at 10 pm; we should have sufficient time to eat and not make the staff stay longer than they have to. Well fast forward to 9:20 pm and we barely got our 2nd dish of meat -- mind you our party opted for the $57.99 per person and we are being told by our server that it is now last call for the kitchen and we can only order "a few" more items from the menu. In my head I'm thinking - ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I quickly reminded her that we have yet to receive our 3rd item (btw - they cap the party to only 3 items each time). So as you recall, at this point we only received 2 of those items from the original 3 --- all the while our server were seemingly extra attentive to the other non-minority patrons/tables that came in after us; we were left to sit around waiting for that 3rd item. At that reminder, she then told us we can order a couple of more items because she wants us to get our "money's worth." We then quickly placed an order for what she allowed us to order. Now, on to the food - if you were opting for Option C for the Wagyu meat cuts then jokes on you, because they don't have it. At least our server told us they didn't with no further explanation/reasoning. The seasonings on the marinated meat was sparingly, so much of which were lacking flavor. The eel was rubbery and since we didn't have sufficient time or opportunities to try all the dishes we wanted to, I feel we didn't actually got our "money's worth." So overall, the experience was an epic fail. The food was okay at best due to lack of flavorings and unavailability of those items advertised on the menu. The service was abysmal and not so much because of them being newly opened, but it appears that unless you are of a certain skin color - don't expect great service or much at all for that matter. So heed these warnings - and as for me, I will take this experience as a lesson learned and make that drive to another establishment for a truly AYCE Korean BBQ experience and better customer appreciation. read more

Full disclosure: came here during their soft opening and had to wait over 3 hours for a table. It's pretty apparent that Austin lacks in the Korean BBQ space. We don't have many options, especially for all you can't eat, but honestly if you're willing to wait I would give this spot a try. The banchan (side dishes) were flavorful and they had so many. I was honestly so happy to see a bunch of banchan that I'm used to seeing in LA or NYC kbbq establishments. Now for the meats. Quality of the meats exceeded my expectations. The staff were all very nice but unfortunately the server started the meal off stating that if you don't finish enough of the meat you will be hit with a $10 upcharge. Not a great way to go into an "all you can eat" situation. In no way is this the fault of the very pleasant server, as it's their job to follow the rules. The beef bulgogi is pretty good but the level A menu did not have the kind of variety we're used to at other KBBQ places. Corn cheese was a fun appetizer. No included dessert options. We had to ask for plates, utensils, and napkins. If you ever find yourself in the DFW area looking for an excellent KBBQ experience, check out Gen in Carrollton. I really wanted to like this place, and I understand that it was their 3rd day of its soft opening but I am disappointed. Just a back ground I am korean and was pretty excited to have another all you could eat Korean bbq option until I experienced what this place had to offer. I will say the decor and bbq grill set up is really nice, they are on top of getting your dirty grills changed. When you first sit down you should probably ask to change seats bc they absolutely do not adhere to covid distancing protocols. We were sat right in front of another booth, so close if you leaned your head back you'd headbutt the other patrons, what's shocking is that the rest of the dining room was empty ( see my pic). If you are going to order all you can eat all people ordering must order the same category which is understandable. The meat was on point and good but kind of lazy on how they marinade some of their meats for example the spicy pork belly is raw pork belly with spraying a small layer of hot sauce on the top of the dish rather than marinating the whole meat plate. Good luck trying to get any ssamjang my server had no idea what that was. Our server explained the sauces brought to the table with the side dishes were ponzu (Japanese?), sesame oil, and a korean hot sauce - that sauce is NOT gochujang (Korean) it is actually Sriracha ( Vietnamese). I didn't want to argue with the server so I just stayed quiet. The problem I have with this place is that it is marketed as Korean bbq when they don't offer the staple bbq Korean sauces. Their is also no consistency with their kimchi, the first batch they brought from the kitchen was on point and home style, when they brought a refill cart it had a weird taste I can't quite explain what it was. Don't forget to ask for rice bc if you don't you won't get it including any raw garlic or jalapeños for the bbq. I understand they were busy but we had to keep asking for things twice. However they were very attentive asking if we need anything, they just forgot to follow up with our requests. The icing on the cake was after everyone had paid the hostess ( we went to pay upfront ) the hostess accused one of our guests that they hadn't paid, we had to show her that I made the first payment which was for two people and the remainder gust had pod the balance.
