Dang and double dang. This Korean BBQ place is legit. We've had a lot of BBQ and this all you can eat menu is amazing. They actually encourage you to eat. Of course don't leave leftovers so pace yourself. The fresh meat was all outstanding. From Waygu to bulgogi it was very very well presented. The sides were also plentiful and well prepared. Be prepared to sit for two hours (the limit) I also tried the fresh eel which is a first outside of sushi. It is a cross between fish and chicken...sorta. It's unique. Little robot waiters bring your meat but the server is always there as well. It's quite clean and our grate got changed out five times. This is now our go to place for Korean BBQ. read more

Was excited to give this place a try given the all you can eat style, however, I was overall pretty disappointed. I didn't come here expecting Michelin-star tasting KBBQ, but I definitely had higher expectations. Most of the meats we tried were pretty bland, and some of them didn't even taste fresh. The "marinade" was either sauce squirted all over it the way ketchup is dumped on fries (and mostly to cover up the lack of freshness), or chunky garlic bits. Nothing was truly marinated to create any actual flavor. We went as a group of 4 and just went with their most basic offering, option A. The service was good, but nothing spectacular. They changed out our grill about 3 times throughout the duration of our stay, which was nice. But we had to ask for water refills and we stacked all of the empty/dirty dishes for our server to help make room for new orders, and she would never take them when she brought new orders. The beef wagyu had so much cartilage in it, it was difficult to eat and not enticing. The best meat we probably ate the most of was the chadol. We tried: chadol, both wagyus, the thin sliced pork belly, both chickens, and the soy sauce baby octopus. The chicken takes so dang long to cook it's almost not worth getting, and you couldn't even taste a difference between the two "flavors." Disappointing all around. The wait was very long for a party of 4 at a booth. It was 1.5 hrs of wait on 7:30. The booth was very comfortable though! A-combo was perfect with assorted meats, they came on a large wooden boat, and you can take the rest to-go. I loved the japchae! K BBQ is probably one of the best AYCE kbbq spots in Austin. They don't do any of those gimmicks like minimum orders, or (enforcing) time limits. My friends and I order Set C, and went ham on all the wagyu and higher meats. The wagyu brisket, ribeye, and steak were the clear winners in my eyes. Great marbling and the flavor was on-point. I would say it doesn't quite have the melt-in-your-mouth fattiness of real full-blooded, Japanese wagyu, but at ~$57, I don't think you can complain too much. Our server was the man, he made sure we got our money's worth and looked out for us. For example, we were gonna get the LA Galbi from set B, and he was like 'just go with the wagyu ribeye, which is the better version of it', which made sense. I know that the flanken-style short ribs can be super fatty and difficult to eat, so how the ribeye is cut makes it effortless to cook and enjoy. A lot of the sub-5 star reviews were written when they were still in their soft launch phase. We checked it out on 2/4/22 around 5:15 and they were phenomenal. So I would like to start by saying I came here by accident. I came to dinner at Kura and they told me it would be a 2 hour wait, and I have never waited for any restaurant for that long, so my friend and I stumbled upon K BBQ. I'm not sure why the ratings are so poor but I thoroughly enjoyed myself! We went with the most basic dinner option which was Choice A and it's all you can eat for $35 so we ordered multiple rounds. This place totally gave me Southern California vibes, it reminded me of all of the K BBQ restaurants off of Claremont Mesa in San Diego. I loved how nostalgic it made me feel. Our waiter was beyond helpful he even showed us how to properly cook things and for how long. He actually cooked some of the things for us, which is going above and beyond in my book because normally a waiter isn't cooking for you also lol. He was literally so sweet and so accommodating. We ordered about 3 separate rounds but my favorite meat was the bulgogi! So good every time. There was even a robot that would bring things to your table, I was really impressed! The waiter was so amazing and everyone was so friendly in the restaurant. Everyone was enjoying their time at K BBQ and I loved to be in the vibrant atmosphere. The restaurant is also next to 85° Bakery which is another one of my favorites from San Diego. Let's meat up. More Korean BBQ for Austin to enjoy? Yes please. I invited a party of 4 to try one of Austin's newer KBBQ locations (at the date of this writing). Despite some setbacks in service, the overall quality of the meats and attitude/personality of the servers more than made up for a few small setbacks NOTE: In defense of the "new". Due to this being reviewed during a time of "soft-opening", it's understandable that metrics are still being gathered in logistics of server and wait times. With that said, the service time overall sufficed. Atmosphere: More modern restaurant style with of course emphasis on the open grill cooking. All tables come equipped with the open fire grill that most other styles have in common use. Food: This is where this place truly shines. I think in terms of meat variety/quality versus price you pay, this is where the expertise of this place comes in. My party ended up getting Combo B which also includes Combo A meats. Large standouts were the LA Galbi, the marination of the short ribs along side being served at what ever freshness you desire really took the cake (or should i say steak?). My party went though a total of 5 rounds ordering various other kinds. Notable were also that this place serves Large Intestines, definitely something for those whom are seeking something a bit more authentic or different. Service: As noted above all the servers were very friendly. Our server Sophie. Admittedly at the time of my serving there is a bit more training they need to do to gather metrics on how to properly handle larger parties but overall their demeanor and attentiveness more than made up for some minor bumps. ALSO to note is that there is a cool bit about their service that does stand out, and that's that they have little robot servers whom come out and will bring out trays of meat for parties. Considering Austin is limited in the KBBQ scene, it's exciting to have K BBQ open in the Crescent neighborhood. They are currently in their soft opening phase until 10/11/21 so the wait and service can be pretty long. We waited about 2 hours on a weekday night and they were short on staff so there were quite a few of empty tables on hand. I don't think you're able to call ahead to get on the waitlist at this time but despite putting our number down, we also didn't get any text messages about our table being ready. The meat selection is plentiful and depending on the combo you pick, the pricing is fairly decent. The price difference between Combo B & C is $20 more, so I think B is the better deal unless you want to add on prime rib, ribeye, salmon, etc. Side dishes were okay, the usual offerings you would find at most places. Overall, good meats, decent prices - considering its soft opening & short staffed, our server did his best. I recently come to K BBQ on a date and let me tell you, what at feast I had! I love the concept of grilling on your own (or you can get assistance from the employees). The vibes inside are so nice, the employees are so helpful in choosing what kind of options they had: overall amazing! K BBQ is located on airport in a nice location with a bunch other asian restaurants + stores. There was parking but I could see that after we left it was so packed. We got seated right away and the people at the front were so sweet. The employees helped us choose which type of meat we wanted to and i'm glad they did cause I had no clue what to choose. I am attempting to leave a fair and neutral review. The food quality is not bad. The atmosphere was nice. However, I was quite confused because of the attitudes of the servers. My group of four friends and I arrived around 9pm last Saturday. I am unsure where the servers' hostility came from. We did not make any inappropriate remarks or behave inappropriately. Before bringing up my concerns, I want to emphasize that we were automatically charged a 20% gratuity because we were a party of five, so the issue of tipping should not have been a concern for them (which they seemed overly focused on). 1. When we tried to order lettuce, our main server seemed displeased and emphasized that it would cost $3. She then reluctantly mentioned that a lettuce salad would be complimentary, rolling her eyes at us. 2. We ordered five fountain drinks ($2.99 each). None of them were refilled during the whole time. When we politely asked for refills around 10pm, we were refused because the fountain drink station was closed. 3. After paying our checks and tips, at approximately 10:15pm, an older Asian female server (I note this because I am also Asian, hilarious) rudely urged us to hasten the cooking of our final plate of meat because they were closing at 10:30pm. I was shocked. Firstly, we were already cooking quickly, plate by plate, and did not waste any food we ordered. It was also my first time being asked to do so in the U.S. Additionally, it felt unfair as there were more than three other tables still dining, and she did not make the same request of them. Once again, we sensed unwarranted attitudes from the servers. I worry that their behavior was influenced by the knowledge that we were automatically charged a 20% tip. Agreed with "Jay"'s review about a month ago: they really started to act funny after an hour stay lol . Star 1: On a positive note, they changed the grills frequently, which was commendable. I've been eyeing this place every time I go to 99 for groceries and finally got to try it out! The food was fantastic. We went in knowing we were interested in the all-you-can-eat option and liked how they had different tiers for the quality and variety of meat. Tier A ($36/person) provided us with ample choices and we were more than satisfied. The dishes came out quickly and were nicely seasoned. Our friend, a Korean BBQ connoisseur, really enjoyed the spicy pork. If you're into seafood pancakes, you MUST order them here. It was loaded with ingredients and easily the best I've ever had. For a Friday night, the line for a part of four wasn't bad at all. The wait list system is super efficient and there are plenty of fun stores around to kill time. That said, parking is a bit cut throat so be prepared for a walk across the lot. Service was excellent and I wish I asked for our guy's name! He was super sweet and basically cooked our octopus for us after we mentioned not trying it before. I also loved how the banchan was immediately served after we sat down-- so welcoming! Finally! A place I can go and enjoy all you can eat KBBQ! This place is not my top place but it was enjoyable! Our server came and greeted us immediately and gave us some suggestions on what to order. The grill was different that what I have used before because this one came to a point almost. Grilling the meats had them sliding down at times but I had a great time! We had a robot bring our meat to us which I found to be creepy but awesome! Parking was tough, we had to find parking behind the building. For two people our bill came out to $80.08 before tip. I recommend the soy sauce pork belly and the spicy pork, both were divine and delicious. I told the server it was my birthday and he did not give us a treat like the table across from us got. The B-Combo consisted of Wagyu Beef Prime Brisket, Wagyu Beef Belly, Prime Rib Marinated in Sweet and Savory Sauce, Prime Ribeye, Beef Tongue, Beef Small Intestine, Pork Belly, Pork Jowl Meat, Baby Octopus, and Shrimp. Even though it was a bit pricey, we had a great time. There were plenty of food, and we also had a good amount of leftover food -- we had to cook our leftovers prior to taking it home, though. We were provided with a good amount of sides. The sides were Rice, House Salad, Assorted Fried Tempura, Corn Cheese, Steamed Egg, and Soybean Paste Stew. It was all delicious! The server was great -- she made sure we always had our water refilled and that everything was going well. She even exchanged our grill without having to ask her. Overall, it was a great experience. The food and staff were very kind, and it's definitely an experience worth having -- however, for the price, I don't think that I will do it again. We like how nice and clean it is for now albeit the robot that delivers food can use a good wipe down after each service. But overall the place is brand new and well lit. Servers try very hard to please. They do keep coming back asking if we need anything more which is a plus for an ayce place. One kept bowing to us too lol I've actually visited twice. Once with the ladies and another with couples and both times I was very pleased so that's why I had to come back a second time. Is it the best Korean BBQ ever? Ofc not. Dallas is where you'd go if you want quality BBQ but for Austin this is passable and a fun experience. It is a bit pricy starting at $37 per person and it goes up if you want better grade meat. In other cities it's half the cost for the same quality. But both times that category here was good enough. The sides here were pretty decent and yummy. Fresh and that matters. Love how there's tempura but that does fill your tummy so we try not to eat too much of that but its yummy. I do like the salad and radish which complements the meat well. But word to the wise do not get their rice paper. Californians know how to do their rice paper but this place doesn't. It wasn't good at all nor fresh. Our group mentioned how it tastes like someone found it in the back and put it on the table lol inedible. The meats are ok for Austin. Not bad. The wagu and rolled beef is good. We have been patiently waiting to try this place since it opened but wanted the hype to die down first. We came on a Sunday at 2 pm and it was half empty so we sat right away. As soon as I sat they were already plating everything instantly along with water which was nice. We decided to do the AYCE option A, plus got the cream cord and steamed egg. The robot delivering our sides was fun. However, they didn't really explain how the process worked. So, we just assumed we grabbed it, then pressed the screen when we were done to send it away. Not sure if this is the correct process, but it felt right lol. The cream corn was delicious! But for $8, a little disappointed that we only got 2 bites each. We are both big fans of steamed eggs, but their version was way watery versus the fluffy way we prefer it. We both didn't care for it, so only ate a little of it. We started off with options #1-3 on AYCE A. I was pretty disappointed in how much #2 Bulgogi they brought it. The whole plate was completely full, it was just a ridiculously large amount that was meant for a group of 10, not 2 people. This kind of ruined the experience of trying other things due to the no waste of food rule. I learned that we can ask for 'happy portions' which we will for sure be doing next time. #3 was our absolute favorite, with the #1 classic coming in second. The #8 thin sliced pork belly was perfectly executed as well. We tried a happy portion of #12 out, so they brought 1 each for us. I was surprised to see the reviews after our meal because our food was so good! We all chose meats from option A throughout the night and every one hit the spot. The banchan was good too, in addition to the usual kimchi, radishes, etc, they had seasoned broccoli and a potato-y dish that took the place of their japchae for the night which really stood out to us. In addition to the food, our service was amazing! SHOUT OUT TO ROZE!! She was the server for our biiiig big group of 20 and she made our experience here so seamless. To call this Korean food is an insult. I've eaten at korean restaurants all over austin and DFW, and more than any other place i've been to the food here tastes like it was made for Americans rather than Koreans. To start, the banchan was underwhelming. Most of it was not seasoned well, and the kimchi didn't even taste fermented. Most of the meat was not well marinated, as if the marinade was added right before serving. The meat was also not particularly fresh. The spicy menu items were not spicy to any of us. I'm someone who usually prefers medium spice level at most restaurants, and their spicy chicken was mild at best. The service was fine. Nothing above and beyond but I have no complaints. The only solid thing about this restaurant. Lastly the price. At $36 for even the cheapest AYCE selection I was very surprised by how limited the meat selection is. Every Korean bbq spot I've been to at this price point had significantly more cuts of meat available. Even spots that charge $25 have a larger selection. In conclusion, don't come here.
