Amazing matcha drinks and rice balls. The rice was made fresh and served warm which was really great!

Stopped in for a post meal sweet treat. Definitely looks and sounds like a chain...doing matcha, both in drinks and in soft serve ice cream. Business is in a modern retail space where urban dwellings are above the retail spaces at ground level. Super high ceilings gave it a very airy space with tons of natural light from big windows. Place seemed very lively on a casual Sunday afternoon, seems people know they are there and like going there. Loved seeing that. I just got their basic Matcha Cold Brew ($6/4*) as I wanted to taste the purity of their product. I wanna say that most matcha drinks I've ever enjoyed were usually lattes of some sort where the matcha is mixed with some form of dairy to make it creamy. This was just matcha and water and is totally different than when it is mixed with dairy. IMO matcha is more satisfying and richer when dairy is incorporated into the mix, makes it more of a dessert/treat. This is more like drinking straight tea or black coffee. Good to taste as you can see the true characters of the green tea powder. Very herbacious, slight bitterness with an almost nori (dried seaweed) type of nuance. I enjoyed this but next time I'm gonna get more of a latte, possibly even with pureed fruit on the bottom, strawberry or guava most likely. Also tried a few bites from their Matcha Soft Serve ($6.50/5*) and I found this to be truly special. A nice sized cup enough to share even. Very creamy and not icy or too soft where it melts too fast. Perfect consistency and I usually don't like soft serve ice creams, I prefer real scooped ice cream. But not only was the texture great, but the flavor was a solid matcha flavor that was both smooth yet present. And you can pick a fruit to put on the bottom and a choice of a dusting if preferred which adds more dimension. Think we tried a lychee add where tiny cubes enhanced the bites and think there was a Hojitcha dusting as well to give it more roasty notes. I would get this again and try more different combinations. Place is very cutesy and girly with a Hello Kitty type of vibe. They seem to have another character a cartoon bunny from Asia that seems to be a mascot. I don't know much about that stuff, but for their delicious matcha products, my palate and belly is going to want for a return. And to that I shall oblige and grant. read more

adorable peanuts collab!! i wish i knew about this sooner for the exclusive merch. the matcha hazelnut was delicious, but i would need to adjust the sweetness a bit next time. the hazelnut is a tad overwhelming so the matcha gets hidden. same goes for the hojicha which ended up tasting more like chocolate hazelnut milk. its easy to spot the shop and parking is available in the underground garage. read more

Came here because of the Snoopy collab. They had a bunch of Snoopy merch, decorations and drinks, which were chocolate hazelnut. I got the chocolate hazelnut coffee latte and it was honestly okay. The chocolate hazelnut flavor was very overpowering, making it more of a dessert milk drink than coffee. I'm happy that I tried it but for the price I wouldn't be back. Always a favorite of mine, but this was my first time visiting this California location after previously trying their Hawaii shop. The café is located beneath an apartment complex, and there's guest parking available in the underground garage, which made visiting pretty convenient on a Friday afternoon. I will note there may be limited parking depending on the hours you visit. There's plenty of seating inside along with a restroom so I can see myself working here for a long time. They also have self-ordering kiosks available, although one was out of service during my visit and the screen was a bit sticky. Service was quick, and our drinks came out surprisingly fast. I visited during their seasonal pear series, so I had to try the Pear Matcha since no other places really have it. It was light, refreshing, and the pear added just the right amount of natural sweetness without overpowering the matcha. My cousin ordered the Guava Matcha, which I've also tried before at their Hawaii location, and it's still one of my favorites. Overall, another great experience and a reminder of why this spot remains one of my go-to matcha places. I'm hoping the Pear Matcha becomes a permanent menu item because it was that good! read more

Went with some friends to celebrate their Peanuts release, but came late and no more Snoopy!! Parking can be a bit tricky, but street or garage parking is plentiful and just a short walk away. Cute interior with two self service kiosks and was so excited to try this newer spot- got 3 chocolate hazelnut lattes (one with oat) & 1 blended chocolate hazelnut matcha (the rest whole milk). I think the foam was left off one drink, but they all still tasted the same- on the milkier side and pretty sweet. The matcha was solid as well, but the latte may have a stronger overall flavor as the blended drink ended up being more ice than I was hoping. read more

The space itself is very beautiful and very clean, making it a comfortable place to sit and enjoy your drink or dessert. Loved the hojicha latte here! Got it iced on a hot day and have been craving a good hojicha latte for a while-I do wish there were more cafes that served hojicha along with matcha in the South Bay. Also tried some of the vanilla matcha swirl soft serve, which was quite sweet so I would probably try just the matcha next time. The inside was a bit packed and it was hard to find a table that would comfortably seat 5 people so we squeezed together at a smaller table. Back then I had tried their matcha drink it was watered down. I'm glad they have been opening up more businesses in norcal now! I went with my friend and she was telling me they that they still have their persimmon matcha! I love persimmon so I couldn't resist getting it. it was so yummy! the persimmon pulp/fruit at the bottom seemed fresh and the persimmon cream on top was blended and had a strong taste/smell of the fruit. I alos had their blueberry lavender cold foam matcha latte and guava matcha latte and it was also very good. when mixed, the guava taste is there but not heavy, and the blueberry cold foam came with 3-4 fresh blueberries! I usually take a much longer time finishing my drinks, but I finished these fairly quickly. I love that junbi has a lot of the matcha x fruit that a lot of other places do not have. such as blueberry, guava, and vanilla! read more

I had a little time after work and decided to try this place per recommendation from a friend. It wasn't busy and walked up to the kiosk to order. I selected the Madagascar Vanilla Bean Cold Brew with organic soy milk and a flight of all three of their rice balls to go. The wait was only a few minutes and I was able to get my drink and food. The matcha was delicious and with the vanilla bean just sweet enough without it being too much. Love the combination of flavors to balance out the bitterness of matcha with the vanilla bean. The rice balls I opened up when I got home and they put the nori into a separate bag and the each rice ball was wrapped up in plastic. I had a mentaiko, snow crab, and salmon rice balls. Once assembled they were absolutely delicious and still warm. Mentaiko was salty but so savory at the same time, the snow crab was the best since it wasn't super salty but also had some sweetness to it, and the salmon was really good. Honestly I would have loved another flight of these rice balls. Will come back to try some of the other drink options. read more

You can order online or at the kiosk in store. Staff is quick to make drinks and are knowledgeable about drinks being served. Any cold drinks ordered via their online website are put into a fridge while awaiting pickup. I felt the hojicha was a bit watered down and small for its price point. The ganbaru ceremonial matcha cold brew was not extremely rich in taste and also had a high price point for size. Overall, drinks are cute to look at and the teas are just ok. I did stay a while to do work using the wifi. The shop itself was comfortable and had electrical outlets for plugging my charger into. The restroom was out of order during my visit, but guests were allowed to use the retail parking's restroom (which was extremely clean and well kept!). It was eh, I expected more flavor of matcha and hojicha from here. The strawberry hojicha latte had mild hojicha flavor. Kind of like a chocolate milk flavor when tried separately. Once mixed with the fruit, the strawberry flavor was super sweet and also had tons of seeds in there. The hojicha flavor became non-existent. Disappointing. The guava matcha latte sounded unique (I don't see guava offered everywhere). The matcha flavor was a bit weak when tried on its own. Stronger than the hojicha, but still weaker than other shops. Once the guava flavor gets mixed in, all you get is guava and it is pretty sweet. Like overly sweet. It also had a thick consistency which was not pleasant to drink. Almost like cornstarch?? Super cute!! It is located right on San Antonio so no true street parking but there is an underground garage just next to the shop with retail parking so overall pretty convenient. However they do have a large menu overhanging the counter so you don't have to queue for the ordering screen. There's definitely a good variety of options between teas and lattes to suit your preferences. I could not resist getting the seasonal Persimmon matcha! The housemade persimmon puree made this a magical experience. The matcha itself was decent but not the best I have had - would describe it as solid. There are options when ordering to upgrade or add additional matcha so something to keep in mind for the fanatics. All that said - the matcha flavor was there. For those that love black sesame, the galaxy drink is bomb. If you don't like black sesame, the flavor is not subtle. We also got the rice ball trio to go as we needed a little between meal snack. We have been fans of Junbi since first trying it in Waikiki. I am long overdue for a review of Mountain View location as we've already been twice. There's free parking underground which is nice. Just a short walk up some stairs, or an elevator for your convenience. The space is always always clean. Love the 2 kiosks for ordering. Makes it easier to customize and pay. I always order a matcha cold brew as I'm not very keen on milk. Love the fruitiness aspect with the guava and mango. I just wish they could have the POG flavor, but maybe it's only limited to their Waikiki location (which makes sense to me). My daughter ordered the hojicha. While it had the good nutty flavor it also just tasted mostly of milk. Service was quick. They're fast with their turn around of drinks. Good thing it's far from us, bc I could see this being a very bad habit. Yes, the SF location is closer but not as convenient. read more

I live near here so I come by often. I tried their new persimmon matcha latte recently and I was amazed. It took me back to my childhood because my family had persimmon trees while I was growing up, and so I would pick them and we would eat them fresh daily. How nostalgic! They nailed it. Good sweetness and balance with the matcha, milk and cream topping. (The color also remind me of Ireland since I just had a quick trip to there recently, haha.) Also, this place was my little good luck charm. I applied for jobs here after I got laid off, and happy to say, I landed a position quickly. So.. all in all, it's a go-to spot for me for drinks, rice balls, and WiFi. The staff are always friendly too. They opened this year so it's super clean inside too. No bathroom, but there is in the parking garage ground floor. Naturally, I have had quite a few things here like the guava and strawberry matcha latte. I recommend both. My personal recommendation is to not adjust the sweetness. I adjusted it before and got a low sweetness before, and for me, it just tasted like milk. My personal preference at Junbi is to not adjust sweetness and take it as it -- everyone has their own preferences! read more

Which brought my latte out to be $10, which is definitely pricey for a drink. Was it worth? I'd say yes, since it is so unique, and as a persimmon lover, it REALLY delivered. The persimmon at the bottom almost felt pulpy, so it wasn't a juice or extract but like the actual fruit. I got it with less sugar, and it was definitely sweet enough! I think the persimmon did a lot of heavy lifting. The interior of the cafe is SO cute. You could order from the electronic kiosk on the side, or at the counter with the staff. I always prefer face to face human interactions. I would hundred percent come here again! read more

I appreciate they had chargers so I could work on my computer for a little bit while enjoying my drink. They do have more of a stool set up so don't plan to stay a while. I don't love the inside ambience - it's a little dull with all the yellow. She said it was a more matcha heavy drink than the latte option, so she was glad! The soft serve here is a bit milkier than Matcha Cafe Maiko, and Maiko is a bit airier IMO. Would love to come here and try one of their drinks another day where I'm able to visit in the morning. I've come to this Matcha spot a couple of times in the past 2 months and overall, it tastes pretty good. They have many options to choose from with varying sweetness levels. The staff is kind and they were helpful in clarifying some questions I had when I came my first time. So far I've had the Guava Matcha Latte, Strawberry Matcha and the BT21 collaboration Matcha. I wasn't a fan of the BT21 collaboration flavor but the strawberry and guava matcha lattes are good. I usually get my drinks less sweet but you can have the drink sweeter if that is your preference. One thing that is on my list to try is the cold brew matcha. I think it's supposed to resemble cold brew coffee using cold water to mix the matcha instead of hot water. A fairly new Matcha spot in Mountain View. I remember seeing Junbi in Hawaii and never got a chance to try it, so I was excited that they opened one in the South Bay! Decided to come here during my lunch with my coworkers because we were all craving matcha. I went with the Guava Matcha Latte. It is pretty good, you get a nice balance of the matcha and sweet guava. It didn't taste artificial - which I liked. We also were offered free samples of their soft serve, which was pretty good. Maybe if I'm feeling a soft serve, I will get it next time. The matcha ice cream was smoooooth and the boba was nice and chewy. I will say, I was under the impression that affogato was liquid with ice cream on the side and not ice cream with liquid drizzled so, FYI. Also the matcha shot drizzle was frozen on the ice cream.
