    Joon Kabob Platter *

Stunning interior! Very elegant and great for a special occasion. Our server, Yacine, was fantastic. He explained the different menu items to us which was REALLY helpful, and even helped with recommendations. He also always made sure our water glasses were full! The hummus was soooo smooth and flavorful, definitely a favorite of the night. The meatballs were so unique and tender!! The kabob platter was just alright, but the harissa roasted chicken was a standout!

Retail parking on the other side of Tiffany's. No patio today but they seated us next to the window and it was nice and bright. Not too many diners on a Sunday during lunch time, surprisingly. Quick and attentive service, and the food came out in good time. The coffee was really good - loved the cinnamon and cardamom and I substituted oat milk. Would try to get it a little less sweet next time but overall good. French toast was different but really good. I didn't like the whipped (cheese? Cream?) that much--too lemony for me. But the toast was yummy. Texture is different but good. Very moist. Liked the nuts. The lamb and potatoes were really good. Great flavor. Big portions. Lamb was super tender and juicy. Potatoes soft and well seasoned. I got a side of toum and it was sooooo garlicky but great. Overall really liked it and would recommend.

My friend moved away a few weeks ago, but she missed the DMV so much she came back to visit last week. So that means we had to grab dinner. We made a reservation for Joon in advance. The ambiance felt luxurious and elevated, and there was even complimentary valet parking right outside the restaurant. To start, our server brought a piece of pita with a small plate filled with feta cheese, chimichurri (?), and an herb-seasoned butter. I loved the soft texture of the pita, and my favorite was the feta cheese. HUMMUS - 11 +14 for braised lamb shoulder Another friend recommended the lamb hummus to me, and it was delicious but very heavy. The pickled onions really helped cut the fattiness of the dip, and the lamb was very tender. PISTACHIO SOUP - 16 The soup was super thick, so it was very filling. Overall, pretty savory and delicious, just incredibly dense. My friend and I agreed that we should have just gotten one bowl of soup to share instead of each getting one because we were pretty full at this point. LAMB CHOPS - 58 Sadly, this one was a bit of a miss. I don't think four lamb chops were worth the price of $58. The lamb chops, while flavorful, were really chewy and tough to eat. However, the rice (chelow rice with tahdig) that came with it was phenomenal. When our server placed the bowl down, we could smell the warm, buttery smell instantly. I could literally just eat the rice on its own because it was seasoned on its own. SAFFRON & ROSE WATER ICE CREAM - 16 This came with two scoops of ice cream and a cookie in the middle. The cold dessert was a refreshing way to end a heavy dinner on a hot summer day. While it wasn't incredibly sweet, we thought it was sweeter than most ice creams. The saffron and pistachio flavors were very prominent. Delicious, and we were very pleased with our dessert selection. I'd like to revisit Joon eventually because I think I would have much preferred their chicken harissa and their kabob selections over their lamb chops. I saw other tables order platters of kabobs and those looked phenomenal. Joon is also on inKind, so we were able to pay with the app and save on our meal.

A couple years ago I went to a Yelp event when Joon was opening, and I have been wanting to go to a meal here since. The service is incredible. The food came out quickly and my water was refilled consistently. We started with the seasonal vegetable hummus. The hummus was covered in plenty of grilled vegetables. It was lunch time, so we both got the chicken kabob. The chicken was cooked perfectly. I also would recommend asking for a side of rice, the rice had a nice crispy top. The restaurant itself is really pretty and it feels high end.

High-end fancy Persian restaurant with lots of local competition from the more casual places that serve raw onions in ziplock bags. However, Joon's kubideh definitely beats them out but you definitely pay for the quality compared to those places. Just depends what you're looking for: quality or quantity. One medium-ish kubideh that'll leave you hungry or a mountain of rice you'll never finish.

Beautiful ambiance and good Persian food, just wish there were more vegetarian options for brunch. I came here a couple of years ago when the walk-up Kitchen Collective window was open. Joon's French Toast - The decadent French toast made with focaccia bread had a bold delicious lemon flavor, topped with raspberry compote and pecans. It was very rich and indulgent. The 4 large slices of toast was generous and the entree doubled over for dessert! Perfect for sharing. The Mango Mimosa was okay, for $12 - I wish the restaurant used fresh mango puree instead of housemade syrup. My friends enjoyed their meaty lamb meals. I would come back to try more vegetarian dishes (besides the omelet and falafel).

Food, service, ambiance were a 10/10. I highly recommend this place. The lamb chops are a must try!

3.5 stars but rounding up for the great service and beautiful interior. Have heard a lot of hype about Joon and as a huge fan of the flavors of the region I finally got to check it out with a group of colleagues for dinner. And let's be honest, I was there to judge their famous Tahdig. The inside is beautiful, clad in dark green colors and velvet chairs, it's definitely going for a romantic dinner energy. The floor buzzes with staff and families giving the whole dining room a lively energy. The group had a few picky eaters that got their own dishes, but for the cool kids we shared the Gilani Kebab platter which came with prawns, chicken, lamb; ya, a little bit of everything and was perfect for sharing. The grilled/charred flavor showed through on top of rice and fresh herbs. We also got the whole roasted branzino, cause, who's not up for the challenge. Served in a pistachio citrus sauce over rice, it was very lightly flavored and succulent. The Tahdig did not disappoint, perfectly crisped rice, beautiful color and good flavor! A few dings because the cocktails (and all the drinks) come out very slowly (bar is probably under-staffed) and everything need juuuuuust a little more omff flavor wise. I'm a huge fan of Persian cuisine and the DMV is no slouch here so color me spoiled. The bill is also on par with being neighbors with a Tiffany's; so if you can get your boss to treat you, then go in!!

Amazing food, service and atmosphere overall. Went for brunch and the space is very big with multiple rooms and some private dining areas. The service was fast and food came out at a good pace. It wasn't too crowded at noon on a Saturday. All the food was very flavorful with unique characteristics for each. It wasn't heavy which I was surprised about. The French toast is so fluffy and made a great dessert. The best dish we had was the lamb meatballs and pistachio. Pomegranate seeds gave it a great tart balance that blended well with the sauce and lamb. These plates are meant to be family style. You must try a little of everything

Come here if you're in need of an ambience that allows you to let go of your busy day and unwind. No need to think twice, call for a table

Loved this place. Reservation for 7 around 6:30pm on. Tue, wasn't too busy. Was sat right after arriving and the vibe in here is great. The decor was modern and really felt like you're in a different world. The lady who assisted us (forgot her name) gave great details about the menu and what to order as well as helped me pick between the lamb chops and lamb shoulder. We ordered all kinds of appetizers, octopus, hummus with lamb, meatballs, and then the lamb shoulder for the main course with the saffron rice. Everything was delicious, and the rice was a large order. Everyone got their own and we could have easily split three between the table. If I was local I would have taken it home. Tisk tisk. I'll keep this on my short list when in the area.

Beautiful setting but highly overpriced and overrated. Party if 8 for mom's birthday otherwise I wouldn't go there. Love her cookbooks and have them but the ratio of portions and prices don't correlate.

    Sehar M.

I came here for their brunch, and the food was well worth it. We shared with a specialized brunch for around 35-38 dollars. I wasn't sure how much food it would be considering we were sharing but it was way more food than I expected. My favorites were all the dips. They also had a lamb with potatoes which was not my favorite. We did get plenty of bread though. The French toast was so good but by that point. I was very full. The service for this place was okay. It seemed like there was some preferred treatment for other tables, and we had to ask a few times for some extras. The ambiance is great! It's a huge place and they have free valet outside. If you're in the mood for some great food, definitely check this place out.

Thankfully, the runner who seated us, (a kind and helpful gentlemen who got a separate tip) noticed and got Daniel to visit our table. My gin martini was excellent and the water was cold. We ordered several plates, which arrived rather quickly. The homemade hummus with the carrots and pickled onions was fantastic. We'd take creamy and delicious hummus like that any day. The deviled eggs were wonderful and came with an extra kick thanks to the jalapeno. Gnocchi with parmesan, carrots, and asparagus was creamy, comforting, and filling. The lamb over hummus, with their rich homemade gravy, rivaled any amazing lamb dish I had anywhere. The portions were phenomenal. I have been to places that give half as much with the same prices. The chef and kitchen staff are incredible. We'll definitely return to try new dishes but we hope the service is much improved.

That thoughtfulness is one of the many reasons I was excited to try it. When we arrived, I was initially concerned after learning that the "G" on the menu indicated dishes **containing** gluten rather than being gluten-free. Since many menu items were marked with a "G," I worried my options would be very limited, especially for the unlimited brunch experience. Thankfully, our server, Emma, immediately put me at ease. She brought me the food allergy menu, answered my questions with patience, and made sure I understood what was safe for me to enjoy. While my husband and I were deciding whether to stay, the manager, Antonio, came to our table after Emma shared my dietary concerns. His kindness completely changed the experience. He took the time to explain my options, offered to have the kitchen modify several dishes, and reassured me that their goal was for me to feel safe and enjoy my meal. Thanks to Emma and Antonio, what started with uncertainty became one of the most enjoyable brunch experiences I've had. I was able to enjoy a variety of delicious dishes, the mimosas were a great value, and the restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful, with floor-to-ceiling windows that fill the space with natural light. What I'll remember most, though, is how genuinely cared for I felt. Before we left, Antonio stopped by one last time to make sure I was happy with my meal and that all of my needs had been met. My husband had put so much love and intention into choosing this restaurant, and thanks to Emma and Antonio, we both left with happy hearts and full bellies. If you have food intolerances or dietary restrictions, I hope this review gives you confidence to visit Ambar. Their team didn't just accommodate my needs. They made me feel welcome, respected, and cared for. That's the kind of hospitality that earns five stars from me.

Service was pretty fast, though we did come in on a weekday during lunch hours. It wasn't super packed which made it a relaxed vibe. The appetizers and the main meals were outstanding. Every time we go to Ambar, the Balkan Salad, the beet tzatziki, and the veal soup are our non-negotiable starters. The bread basket that comes with the spreads is always warm as if it came out of the oven which is a nice touch. This time around we got to try kajmak- tasted like fresh butter from a farm. The orders we kept coming back to in particular were the grilled shrimp, the sesame crusted salmon, and the beef goulash. It's easy to get full quickly, but if you're eyeing on dessert, pace yourself! Unless you love decadent cakes, I would pass if dessert is an extra cost. The dessert menu was quite underwhelming to me and, besides the baklava, doesn't give traditional Balkan dessert vibes. If I were to recommend going to Ambar, definitely head in during restaurant week! And if paying full cost, I would say brunch has a nicer sweets selection over the dessert menu offered during lunch and dinner.

I could tell from other conversations throughout the restaurant that the other servers were equally kind to their patrons. The decor is beautiful! I feel like I don't usually see restaurants with such a strong aesthetic in the Fulton area. I think the ambiance created by the decor definitely heightened my experience. Now, for the food. What we ordered: - Traditional Country Spinach Pie - Falafel - Spicy Lamb Beef Dip - Grilled Octopus - Grilled Salmon - Chicken Tenderloin - Athenian Shrimp The spinach pie and falafel were standard; good, but nothing to write home about. The spicy lamb dip was my party's favorite mezze. I feel that Cypriana does meats very well (especially the grilled ones). But the dishes were brought down by the sides. The grilled salmon, octopus, and chicken were all delicious! However, the red quinoa mixture tasted incredibly earthy. I did not enjoy it, but some healthier members of my party did haha. The chicken and fries was probably the best pairing (and child-approved!). Regarding the "Athenian Shrimp": Upon some research, I believe this is the restaurant's interpretation of Garides Saganaki. The restaurant served the sauce on a bed of pilaf. From my understanding, shrimp saganaki is more commonly (not exclusively) eaten as a dip with bread. Of course, there's no "wrong" way to serve anything, but the rice paired with the Athenian Shrimp was incredibly moist to the point of distraction. The sauce was very good, but I found myself eventually eating around the rice because the wet texture was so off-putting. I think the sauce would have been better paired with a pasta, pita, or baguette.
