    Palak chicken with plain naan
    Jenny S.

Great Indian restaurant near work! Decided to try something different ---palak chicken: since I like spicy the waiter recommended this dish over butter chicken and I was happy to get some more greens in my diet since its spinach based! Yummy and tender dark meat chicken. The spicy level has definitely got a kick! ---Naan plain: good crispy and chew together! ---malai kulfi: the waiter recommended the as the most popular, its kind of like cookrd milk flavor, not bad but I think i would have enjoyed my typical pistachio more Will be back to try more!

Bansari is always our go to for Indian Restaurant. We live in Centreville and we still make the drive and it's definitely worth the drive. The Kadai Goat is always tender and flavorful along with the rest of their dishes. The lassi and the drinks are always good. The only callout I have is that they don't offer iced water but I would still give it 5's simply because of the food.

    Amritsari Tandoori Chicken Masala
    Liv W.

First off, I'd like to say that the Amritsari Tandoori Chicken Masala is probably one of the best Indian dishes I've ever had. The sauce had a touch of sweetness, but also a good amount of spice. I could drink the sauce honestly... The lamb curry was also tasty, but nothing can compete with the amritsari. The naan was also fantastic. We got two.. the garlic and cheese naan. I'm always a fan of garlic naan and get it every time I eat Indian food, but the cheese was also such a pleasure. The cheese naan was filled with peppers and they added a nice zing! We sat outside and it was a nice night so it was perfect. Cute little lights are hung around and it's honestly great for a date or cute friend's night out. And everything came out so fast! It was perfect. I'd come back 100% and look forward to trying more dishes (and revisiting the chicken curry!).

The butter chicken was incredibly flavorful, tender, and creamy. The garlic naan was very soft and the bhature was perfectly chewy. The rice tasted a bit off this time, somewhat dry and the saffron note was a bit overpowering. Staff are all nice and attentive. The interior has laidback and cozy vibes, and outdoor seating is available as well. Free garage parking is just around the corner.

This has got to be the best North Indian restaurant in the DMV area. One of my friends is a regular here. He has been hyping this place for a while. So decided to drive to Vienna all the way from DC. Also, a couple of my friends drove all the way from Baltimore to try it out. I must say that it was worth the hype. To begin with we ordered chai. It's a must have when you try Indian food. A couple of them ordered mango lassi as well. You cannot go wrong with either. For apps, we ordered paani poori, dahi poori and Gobi Manchurian. These are some of the fan favorites. Paani poori was our favorite. We didn't like Gobi manchurian as much. I have had better ones else where. For entrees, we went crazy. We ordered their most popular dish - amritsari tandoori chicken masala. Absolutely delicious. They have nice chunks of chicken marinated for hours in their tandoori masala and then cooked to perfection. It's a must have if you're visiting this place. Next fav - the goat curry. Oh my. This reminded me of some of the best curries from my favorite restaurants in India. So authentic. Goat was very tender and delicious. Other images such as palak chicken, cholle and assortment of rotis were great as well. To end your meal, highly recommend trying the rose falooda. Mind blowing taste. Love the crunchy texture of nuts and flavor of rose milk. Ambiance and service was great. I am definitely coming back here.

This place is absolutely amazing! They are super busy for dinner so you might want to get a reservation. Their curries are so flavorful and full of meats. The portion sizes are hefty. They also have a variety of interesting styles of naan. I heard the goat cheese and cranberry naan is delicious. We got the garlic and cheese naan which were perfectly baked and paired beautifully with the curries. Caution: if you aren't good with spicy foods, make sure to get the mild or medium. Their spices are really strong!

Finger licking north indian food near Mosaic district! This restaurant replaced Punjabi by Nature which was pretty good but dare I say this even better! Service is prompt, food is delicious! The Malai kofta, the paneer burji, naan, Chinese bhel - everything is great! I've heard good things about makki roti and sarso ka saag. Highly recommend.

One of those rare places where you can pick anything on the menu and it'll taste amazing! I haven't found a better mango lassi anywhere. They definitely use fresh ingredients that aren't ultra-processed, all at a mid-tier price. Definitely make a reservation if you're dining in because the 8+ times I've been here, it's ALWAYS poppin', rain or shine. Ambiance: 5/5 Well designed and comfortably lit. Great for groups and dates Food: 5/5 High quality at affordable prices. Anyone who comes once will be a repeat customer. Overall: 6/5 This is a business that knows what it's doing and does it well, from the interior design, courtesy of the staff, and the kitchen. Keep it up!

This food is super good and my friend loved the food and its super good and 10/10 i love it!!

I'm not exaggerating when I say this is one of my favorite Indian restaurants in the dmv area. A friend brought their "rajasthani laal maans" (goat curry in chili gravy) and I loved the curry so much that I had to get it again and try out other menu items as well. Fast forward to 2 years and we try to go here a few times a year. I love their biryanis, naans, their lamb and goat curries. My brother loves their chicken tandoori as well. On weekends it can get a little packed during dinner time and there might be a wait to get a table but we usually are able to get a table at other times during the week. The service is quick and the vibe is relaxed with Bollywood music in the background. You can get mocktails and cocktails as well for decent prices.

walked by this place a couple of times and decided to finally stop in! Food: - Butter chicken: flavorful and more on the sweeter side to me (??). We asked for medium spicy and didn't taste the spice at all weirdly (or I just have a higher spicy tolerance ??) - Chicken tikka Masala: creamy & sooo good! This was my favorite!! - garlic naan: fluffy, warm, and so good dipped in both of the entrees. service is friendly & nice! Entrees are about ~ $20 per which seems steep compare to other locations in the area however overall great food!

We are back again. And WOW. If your taste buds crave a party and you don't fear flavor, then it doesn't get much better than Bansari, the best Indian in the DMV (we've been to many). Nothing pretentious, the excellent food is matched by the service. The chick peas (chole) is phenomenal (and comes with an order of samosas). Their take on butter chicken is unmatched - don't miss it. Ask for Krishna!

I found Bansari on Uber Eats and have been hooked ever since. Whenever my fiancé and I are craving something for our non-sober night, we usually opt for Bansari. Our go-to meal is always spot on--delicious the night of, and even better as leftovers the next day. We usually get the Amritsari Tandoori Chicken Masala (medium spicy), Garlic Naan, Raita (yogurt sauce), and Butter Chicken with Bone Delhi Special (also medium spicy). I tried the Amritsari with an extra level of spice once, but it was way too much for me. The jump from medium to hot was huge--I wish they had an option in between.. The Garlic Naan is my favorite by far (I've tried almost all of their naan options). They have varieties like cranberry & goat cheese, butter naan, truffle naan, and cheese naan.. I also tried their Pani Puri once, but it wasn't really my thing. It's neat that the food is ready for pick-up right by the door, so you don't have to walk all the way up to the front to ask for it. You can just park your car on the side, with your hazards on and pop in and out real quick. The service is always great too, they always greet you with a smile. I seriously love Bansari and will definitely keep coming back!

On our first visit, they were extremely busy and we didn't have a reservation, but the staff was incredibly welcoming and accommodating while we waited for a table. Megha, in particular, was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, she made us feel truly at home. She consistently checked on us, made sure everything was perfect, and provided some of the best service we've experienced. Since that first visit, we've already been back two more times -- twice for dinner and once for their Sunday brunch. Every single visit has been exceptional. The service is always outstanding, and the food never disappoints. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any dish on the menu, and their brunch is phenomenal. I do have to mention the Butter Chicken -- it's easily one of the best I've ever had. The garlic naan and rosemary naan are also incredible and such a unique touch. What makes this place even more special is the consistency and hospitality. Megha always greets us warmly, remembers us by both face and name, and genuinely makes every visit feel personal and welcoming. We absolutely love this restaurant, and it will definitely remain one of our go-to spots. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for amazing food and exceptional service.

It's a train station themed restaurant with walls that look like trains, the menu has a train (subway) map, the check arrives in a "Departure ticket" bi-fold. It's nicely done. Luckily they didn't get cheesy with train/travel names for dishes. Staff all looked professional with matching pressed shirts. Our server was attentive. Food was delicious. We ordered typical Americanized Indian dishes. A lamb vindaloo, spinach paneer, buttered chicken, and tandoori pomfret fish. For apps we got vegetable samosas and gobi Manchurian cauliflower. ALL of it was so good! I would probably skip the fish next time. Not because of the taste, because of the work to get the meat out of the fish. It's served whole, which I was not expecting. Still very tasty. The gobi was had a familiar taste- similar profile to a Chinese general tso - regardless tangy and delicious with just a little heat. I was concerned the heat level was going to be too much in our dishes. After all, we did order a vindaloo which is know for its heat. It was perfect. They probably told the cooks to make it American spicy. lol. How do you know it's good? There were many Indian patrons. I will 100% return when I get an Indian food craving. Prices are to be expected given the current economic state of our area/country.

A concerted effort towards variety is evident, with distinct proteins and vegetarian choices in specific curries/sauces creating a beautifully balanced array of different colors. I love this. (An example of the opposite: When there's a paneer tikka masala AND a chicken tikka masala on a buffet - I don't count these as being 2 different entrées.) Saffron is way better than the musty neighbor Haandi Indian across the street. A long time local recommended Haandi over Saffron and I believe she must have lied to me about having tried Saffron, because there is absolutely no comparison. Saffron is wayyy better. There is actually flavor and attitude in the dishes at Saffron. Haandi is boring and bland. Pro tip: ask for your naan bread "crispy" and it will come out nice and toasted. Naan is included with the lunch buffet. Would be 5 stars if it were $15. $22 can get you AYCE made-to-order sushi lunch down the street, so $20 for Indian buffet lunch here seems all-the-money. Delicious, though! Oh and another possible star deduction reason: I saw a few stains on some tablecloths at Saffron that appeared to be days-old from not being changed or noticed. This is a "glass top on top of red tablecloth" kind of place. They need to get rid of the tablecloths if they're not changing them with each customer.

For $20 I found the buffet reasonable but it did seem slightly smaller than their sister locations one. Seating is quite tight in this location and you do sit almost on top of each other. I echo another reviewer- some of the items were bland, especially the saag paneer, that lacked flavor at all. The spicy meatballs were the only thing with a kick but would have loved to see more consistent spice. I also was a bit disappointed in the naan- it didn't seemed buttered at all and was very dry for some reason. Service and staff super friendly and decent food for the price but needs more kick to beat the Saffron Ashburn location.

These are our go-to orders, watch we supplement with other entrees in a dinner order for more than 2 people. Thus far, we have tried chicken korma, shrimp jalfrezi, salmon tikka masala, and various vindaloos and biryanis. All were adequate, with the jalfrezi being the least impressive and the vindaloo being the most (good balance of heat and flavor). But the star of the menu is the lamb bhuna. The lamb is succulent and the sauce is perfectly spiced to match the lamb - and the quantity of the meat and sauce are in good proportion to each other. This dish will be on our order from here on out. Some tips: don't order extra rice; all saucy entrees come with a generous portion of rice (even for a rice fiend like me). But DO order extra chicken tikka to supplement the (at times a little meager) amount of fish or salmon in saucy dishes. Also, the chefs' method of adding heat to "extra spicy" requests is to add chunks of hot peppers to the dish - I don't prefer this, but you might. Order accordingly.
