Patrick our server was AWESOME!! Fast, professional, friendly, efficient & gave us excellent service on a busy Saturday night. First time eating there for us and the food chicken kebab combo with salad & side of rice was the BEST‼‼ [[HIGHLIGHT]]They need a bigger location.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food is amazing. You won't be disappointed.

This was my first time returning to Shamshiry after moving back to the area. It was just as good as I remember! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior of the restaurant has been nicely updated, although personally I like the fact that they decided to keep the familiar sign and awning out front.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] In an industry with plenty of turnover, it's a nice callback to how long this place has been around. The food at Shamshiry is as good as ever. Their chicken kabob is deliciously marinated and pairs well with a persian salad and tadik. Times change and life keeps moving, but a few familiar things mercifully persist. Might as well round out the evening with some baklava and hot tea while you're at it. For old time's sake. Thanks Shamshiry.

I was excited to try Shamshiry but it was not that great. We got here just before a Friday night rush, but could not determine the cause of the rush, since the food was not good. Parking is frustrating and unclear. Service was fine. My joojeh was flavorless. Kubideh was a bit better. Bread was awful. Rice was fine; was able to make a delicious fried rice at home with the leftovers. I did like my tea with rock sugar candy though. There are so many better options for Persian.

This is a restaurant I highly recommend to any of my friends or family when they visit the area. The meat is perfectly seasoned, tender, and juicy. The portions are generous as well. Service is quick and very friendly when they explain the menu. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The dining area is always busy every time I go but tables are nicely spread out so that you can enjoy your meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Forgot to take a picture of the Persian ice cream but that is a must have!

I have to give an update to this place. Over the years, I feel like they have improved. We dined recently on Christmas Eve, and even for them being crazy busy, they did such an amazing job trying to seat us efficiently. They told us a hour wait for us being a party of 9 but they sat us in 45 minutes which was amazing. Food did taste amazing and I loved the green pepper sauce as a dip. I ordered the combination of chicken and kabobs. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The environment was very nice with table properly ready and table was prepared well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server did a good job putting the food quickly in the system and us getting everything timely. The bread and butter was nice and fresh as well.

Delicious Persian / Iranian food at an affordable price point. Not much free parking but there is a parking garage. Service was average but also what I would expect at this price point. It gets busy. We got the Mast-o Musir which was a shallot flavored yogurt. It was an excellent dip for the free naan at the table. I also tried the Shamshiry kabob with combines a kubideh kabob and a barg kabob. I preferred the kubideh kabob from this dish. I ordered the jujeh kabob and the cornish hen was very tender and had a nice charred flavor. Would recommend if you like chicken. Tastier and more unique than a regular chicken kabob. I also highly recommend the Persian Ice Cream. It was super creamy and bursting with flavor. Great way to end the meal. I preferred it over the rollet which was like a Swiss roll.

Food is & can be powerful! It can serve as a powerful unifying force that brings people together. It can build community & even foster a sense of belonging. Through shared experiences, we get to celebrate traditions, bridge differences & strengthen our relationships. Food is described as a universal language that transcends cultural & language barriers. Such was our experience at Shamshiry. We were able to experience a taste of home while remembering and paying homage to how powerful of a force food can be. Set in a very comfortable and homey ambience & superb service, we felt at home and for those moments, the world was good & all was well. Every single menu item was exquisite and to die for. Many thanks to the entire staff of Shamshiry for such an incredible experience.

We went back to Shamshiri after a long time and I have to say that we won't be back again . The restaurant is very factory like. It took them a while to bring water and bread to the table . We ordered Masto -Musir which was very small. For food we ordered Chelo kabob shamshiry( we got sick from that) and chicken soltany with Baghali polo. The chicken was burned and dried out, when we told our waiter he just looked at us! For desert we got Persian ice cream, it was all melted so they brought us another one , it was absolutely flavorless.

We went for a birthday celebration and boy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Oh boy that restaurant is packed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They do not take reservations so get there early. We ordered a lot of different things. The bread is wonderful and the chicken kebabs are amazing. Very moist with the rice and salad. The hummus was good and needed a little more tahini and garlic. Our waiter was very attentive and I ordered the lamb and filet mignon. I did not realize it was going to cost $47 everybody laughed at me, but what are you gonna do? The Cornish hen looked a little overcooked. Otherwise it was a nice time. I would not recommend the ice cream with saffron in it and rose. Very pungent flavor.

THE KUBIDEH KABOB HAS MY HEART. It's really that good! To be safe you have to come on a weekday because the weekend is packed! You could find a table but you're going to have to wait. The chicken tandoori is also delicious and don't forget to try the green sauce! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant feels like you're in a fancy restaurant with fast food prices.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This is our first try here since we were in Washington DC. Ali was the one who was our server and host. Absolutely excellent food and vibe . Each portion is enough for two individual. Albaloo polo was super tasty and fresh . Shiahllek was juicy and tender, without meat smell. Highly recommended

If you are looking for one of the delicious and succulent kubideh around US, this is the place. Service is efficient and considering how busy the place gets they do their best. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Come here for the vibes, not the ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Dont forget the saffron ice cream!!!

It's a must show to any out of towners. I lived in LA for the past 5 years and had incredible Persian food in the land of their people (Glendale hahahah) but I missed this place most of all. Put egg yolk and butter in your rice, pair the spicy green stuff with everything, get khiar and shirazi with your kubideh. You're welcome.

And let's be honest, I was there to judge their famous Tahdig. The inside is beautiful, clad in dark green colors and velvet chairs, it's definitely going for a romantic dinner energy. The floor buzzes with staff and families giving the whole dining room a lively energy. The group had a few picky eaters that got their own dishes, but for the cool kids we shared the Gilani Kebab platter which came with prawns, chicken, lamb; ya, a little bit of everything and was perfect for sharing. The grilled/charred flavor showed through on top of rice and fresh herbs. We also got the whole roasted branzino, cause, who's not up for the challenge. Served in a pistachio citrus sauce over rice, it was very lightly flavored and succulent. The Tahdig did not disappoint, perfectly crisped rice, beautiful color and good flavor! A few dings because the cocktails (and all the drinks) come out very slowly (bar is probably under-staffed) and everything need juuuuuust a little more omff flavor wise. I'm a huge fan of Persian cuisine and the DMV is no slouch here so color me spoiled. The bill is also on par with being neighbors with a Tiffany's; so if you can get your boss to treat you, then go in!!

4.5 stars Fast,…read morefriendly and absolutely delicious. Ordered the chicken and lamb kabob combo with brown rice. Comes with chutney, yogurt sauce, side of chickpeas and one Afghan flatbread. First of all I need to know what kind of sorcery they are doing to that chicken because how do they get chicken breast THAT tender?? Juicy, flavorful, not dry at all. Seriously so good. The lamb had really good flavor too but mine was a little overcooked and a few pieces took more chewing and determination than I wanted to give them. Brown rice was delicious. Definitely not one of those sad side dishes you ignore. Now the chutney... I like to add a little salt, tear off pieces of the Afghan bread and dip away. So good. Add some sumac if you like a little sour kick and squeeze lemon over the kabobs. I really liked the open grill too. I swear I got put into a little trance watching the fire dance around the meat and hearing the occasional singe as the juices hit the flames. I know. What a geek lol. Chicken and lamb combo was $26 plus tax and a bottle of Coke Zero was $3.99, which apparently is where we are in life now. Almost four dollars for a bottle of Coke Zero. Fine. Take my money. Would have been a solid 5 if the lamb was a little more tender but that chicken? Yeah I'm coming back for you.

This establishment seems to be Egyptian owned, as the walls claim that Egyptians created bread, cupcakes and falafel. The service was fine, though the tables could have been cleaner. I appreciate that they allow you to substitute some of the rice portion for lettuce/spring mix although the spring mix was wet. They also offered both spicy and regular options for rice and chicken. I got spicy rice with spicy chicken, and for my toppings I got Mediterranean salad, hummus, and tzaziki. I didn't realize you could also get white sauce, green sauce, etc, so I probably wouldn't get tzaziki and get olives or something else next time. The chicken and rice combo was a bit overly spicy for me and upset my stomach slightly. I'd probably get regular for both the next time. I also got tiramisu which they recommended over all the other "cupcakes" which they claim (via the wall) is Egyptian. The tiramisu was surprisingly good. There was soft music that seems Arabic-speaking. They have fountain drinks as well as bottled beverages. They also include a service charge - it was like $0.42 for me. I first tried the assorted kebabs. Unfortunately, the chicken had dried out and the kofta felt too crumbly. The chicken rice dish had quite aromatic rice but underseasoned chicken; seasoned rice alone can't substitute bland chicken drumsticks. The lamb rice dish had both aromatic rice and juicy, well seasoned lamb. I ended up combining the lamb pieces with the chicken rice. Out of curiosity, I tried a piece of their fried chicken. It proved juicy and not too oily. It would do well as a standalone appetizer in most restaurants. I also tried something that looked like lasagna, but without tomato. It tasted, to my uncultured palate, like a lasagna with some sort of cream or bechamel-like sauce. I quite enjoyed it. For dessert, my friend convinced me to try what I had initially passed over as oatmeal or tapioca pudding. The Omi Ali proved quite delectable, like a cross between bread pudding and oatmeal but with more nuanced spices and sweetness. I added it to my short list of desserts I enjoy, since I don't have much of a sweet tooth. Overall, I appreciated the breath and variety. Some hits and misses are to be expected at a homely, ethnic neighborhood style buffet.
