    Lamb over rice platter
    Ellis H.

Our family was blown away by the flavors and presentation of our family's lamb over rice platter. Ahmed always takes such great care of his customers and has an incredible commitment to quality.

This is a small place in the heart of Vienna, right next to Amphora's. The owner, a man in his 40's named Ahmad, serves authentic Lebanese food. By the way, the old name was Old name was "Ya Hala," like around four years ago. And the place really is authentic. You'll hear people speaking Arabic in the small cafe and in the attached butcher/grocery store next door (same owner). They play MBC, a middle eastern channel. And, of course, the food is very, very good. We came with a young Lebanese lady who ordered for us. This is what they bring out: Appetizers- hummus, baba ghanouj with bread; tabbouleh salad. Excellent presentation to all- see the pictures. Next- cheese pies and ground beef pies. Medium-size squares that are warm. Great to also dip into said hummus and baba ghanouj. Main course- a golden-colored rice topped with pine nuts and golden raisins. Yummy take on rice! A big platter of mixed kabobs on bread. There's chicken, beef, and lamb, with grilled veggies accompanying. We skipped dessert, although he has ~10 seemingly authentic cultural options. (There's also the Amphora bakery next door, so...) Finally, they brought us a refreshing black tea that had an infusion of mint. Not too light, and not bitter. Nice blend, I have to say. If you're in Vienna, you've got to try this place. Ask for Ahmad, and ask him for the authentic Lebanese experience. It'll be $100 (the total for our feast), and...it'll be the most satisfying Benjamin you've spent in a good while.

Mezze Platter (doesn't include the drink shown)

Came here on a Wednesday evening for dinner. Small place, and doesn't have a great ambiance. However the food was delicious. I had the Chicken Tawook, and the meat was flavorful, and freshly cooked. My hubby got the Lamb platter which he said was good, but he thought the chicken was better. Also had the mezze platter that came with hummus (delicious), falafel (crispy and flavorful), baba ghanoush (ok), taboule (too lemony), and grape leaves (just ok). Overall the mezze platter was a hit and miss. Overall I will definitely be back, however I did think it was quite pricey.

We took a chance and ordered based on Zulfa's sweet personality! We were amazed at the quantity and quality of the food. The presentation was wow and taste superb!

You can get many different cuts of meat. I prefer the lamb. Some selection of other middle eastern foods.

I think this is the same place as the Beirut Cafe. It was terrible. Not at all worth the $10 delivery fee.

They both were really dry, so we asked for some tatziki sauce for the schwarma sandwich which was packed with meat, although a bit light on any veggies. Everything tastes fresh and well made. If you're craving Lebanese food, this place delivers.

First, I didn't realize it was a sit down and order restaurant, I was used to short order. I was quickly seared and within a couple minutes one server had brought me water as well as fresh tandoori bread and a delicious spicy green sauce to go with it. A second server appeared quickly to take my order. I explained I was used to short order, and all I wanted was their version of chicken and steak (not ground beef.) The waiter explained how he'd do the combo on the menu and off he went. Having looked at the menu, I feared this might be an expensive option, and it was. But a few minutes later I was presented with a platter of delicious looking steak, chicken, rice, onions, tomato, and event a char-roasted jalapeño. It was enough food for my wife and I have had for dinner between us, so the price was well justified. Every thing was delicious. At the end of the meal, I asked if I could order another tandoori bread, and get a small to-go container of the green spicy spread to bring home for wife to try. They brought me both a generous helping of bread and the sauce, and charged me for neither. This service, combined with a delicious meal that, while expensive, will end up being three meals, means this is definitely a spot I plan to go back to as well as recommend.
