So good! While visiting the bubble tea shop next door, we spotted Marjan. Lovely smells were coming out of this restaurant and we had to pay a visit. Online ordering was simple and straightforward. Our order was ready in a timely manner. Everything was neatly wrapped and ready to go. The employee was welcoming and kind. There is little seating inside, this is mainly a takeout and catering restaurant. I like the homey feeling to this place. We enjoyed every dish ordered. Super fresh and the flavors are all there. The dishes are aromatic and well prepared. Nothing was overly greasy or heavy. Seasoned perfectly. Quality ingredients are used and they are generous with the portions. The Zereshk Polo and Bagali Polo with Lamb is where it's at. You also can't go wrong with some Mast-O-Khiar and Shirazi Salad to accompany your meal.

Rarely do I find a restaurant that I visit over and over again, enjoying every last grain of rice as if it was the first time. Marjan is one of those restaurants for me. I'm still sticking with the gormeh sabzi (famous Persian herb, meat, and bean stew) and zereshk polo (chicken rice pilaf with barberries). The cucumber salad is delightful and refreshing. The yogurt sauce is perfectly tangy. Everything tastes like you stopped by the house of your favorite Persian aunty who is a great cook and she's thrown together some of her best dishes. I suggest ordering directly from the restaurant instead of through an app. Pickup is available, though I usually get delivery. It's been one of my favorite spots during the pandemic, and I'm happy to keep supporting a family-owned small business.

Abgoosht - Lamb Shank, Potatoes, and Chickpeas Soup

We love Persian/Iranian kebabs and had no idea a whole variety of these comforting stews existed. We've been driving by Marjan for years, not realizing they were a restaurant (I assumed they were a catering business). I'm so glad we finally got to try it. I love that each stew had it's own distinct flavors. Everything tasted so delicious that I can't pick a favorite. The Abgoosht is a tomato based stew flavored with lamb shank, potatoes, and chickpeas. This dish looked simple but was bursting with flavor. The Khoresht Karafs is a lemony stew flavored with celery and beef. It tasted so comforting over rice. I'm usually not a fan of celery but this stew was so good. The Ash Reshteh is a vegetarian noodle soup. It was a lot lighter tasting but the crispy shallots? yogurt? and mint they put on top gave it a bright flavor. A big surprise was the Kashk Bademjan, a mashed eggplant dip. This is seriously the best eggplant dip I've ever had. Sadly it didn't come with any bread so we'll be buying some pita later today. Online ordering was a breeze. The estimated time was spot on. Overall, I'm so glad I finally got to try this local restaurant. Stews and rice are such a comforting meal.

I was craving something sweet and found Marjan through yelp search. Marjan is located in the heart of Vienna off 123. Plenty of parking spots available (6). 2 gentleman inside, one who was extremely helpful. I had eaten prior so I was only looking for a desert. Deserts are sold by package, not individually. Marjan has Persian cuisine (soups which smelled delicious, entrees, packaged refrigerated items) for dine-in (2 tables) or carry-out. I picked-up: Latifeh - Persian cookie (reminds me of a cream puff). The cookie is drier than a cream puff but soft. The whipped cream is not as sweet and the pistachio was not noticeable in flavor. They also carried Zaffrus products. Lemonade- It's not Persian lemonade unless it has cooked basil seeds floating around. I love Persian lemonade. The best lemonade ever! Saffron honey - Whew. This is some legit honey. I use this honey with warm water (honey water for my mornings).

So many good things to say about this place! This was my first experience with Persian food and it was amazing. We came in for lunch on a Tuesday. It's an unassuming place tucked in off Maple Ave, with just 3 tables, but the food will blow you away. The owner was so great - we admitted we knew nothing about Persian food and she got us all set up with three delicious meals. The lamb!!! OMG. The chickpeas!! OMG. Each dish was so different and so good. Highly recommend this place.

Mom and pop- homemade style Persian restaurant. Mostly carry out orders. Good to dine in with small groups and carry out or cater from here. The food is perfection! It is so yummy! The rice is fresh- most places I have been to the rice usually tastes a bit old and microwaved but the rice here is FRESH and served straight from the oven! They have a variety of stews. The shirazi salad is like a "Chopt Persian salad" made with tomatoes, cucumbers and onions in a little lemon juicy dressing. The bowls and plates are really cute! And they serve you tea right after your meal. When dining here you really feel like you are in "Iran" having a meal. The owners are very welcoming- a very cozy place. I love it and highly recommend everyone to try it!

I came in tired and so very hungry. I leave with not only a full tummy but some new friends as well. This business not only does catering but there are a few tables inside so that you may sit and enjoy some warm, healthy, stick to ya ribs kind of food. I ordered a combo platter with lentils, some fall off the bone chicken and saffron rice and a cucumber and tomato salad. I tried a yogurt mint soda which I enjoyed very much. It was not too thick nor too sparkly. Most yogurt drinks I find a bit too thick, like buttermilk. I would definitely return to this establishment in a heartbeat. They also have a lovely selection of pastries as well. Anything from cream puffs to cookies. She is located near Swan Cleaners. So come on and say, "Hello".

!!!!Avoid this place we went there just because of the good reviews but the food was very old that was the worst ghormeh sabzi we ever tried. The food was very sticky and slimy. I don't know how are they still running their business. I don't recommend this place at all.

Lamb shank over rice with vegetables -- Yum!

This restaurant was impeccably clean, the owner was so kind, and I enjoyed the best lamb shank over rice with vegetables! A sign outside says the Persian Cuisine is based on recipes from 550 BC. Now that's authentic.

First, I didn't realize it was a sit down and order restaurant, I was used to short order. I was quickly seared and within a couple minutes one server had brought me water as well as fresh tandoori bread and a delicious spicy green sauce to go with it. A second server appeared quickly to take my order. I explained I was used to short order, and all I wanted was their version of chicken and steak (not ground beef.) The waiter explained how he'd do the combo on the menu and off he went. Having looked at the menu, I feared this might be an expensive option, and it was. But a few minutes later I was presented with a platter of delicious looking steak, chicken, rice, onions, tomato, and event a char-roasted jalapeño. It was enough food for my wife and I have had for dinner between us, so the price was well justified. Every thing was delicious. At the end of the meal, I asked if I could order another tandoori bread, and get a small to-go container of the green spicy spread to bring home for wife to try. They brought me both a generous helping of bread and the sauce, and charged me for neither. This service, combined with a delicious meal that, while expensive, will end up being three meals, means this is definitely a spot I plan to go back to as well as recommend.

The ambiance and service deserve a 5* but the food leaves a lot to be desired. I am hoping the chef reconsiders their choices. The food felt like it was made of cheap ingredients picked up on discount aisles, Mexican tortillas used instead of pita bread (needed to order it as none come with the multi-dip sampler). ketchup like item was used as a dressing in the priciest dish on the menu, the ground beef kebab felt like a reheated frozen kabob. Rice on the side showed up soggy and undercooked. This is unlike the experience we have in most Mediterranean /middle-eastern food places in NoVA. I have experienced this twice, so it can't be a coincidence unfortunately. My bad for not remembering the first experience. I cannot imagine how they have a loyal customer base that has had no issue with their food quality (based on the reviews here). It's at a prime location as well to be getting away with this. I wish they got Gordon Ramsey-ed and that more customers left honest reviews. Sorry for my harshness in this review. I did not like being deceived by the looks and reviews.

From my experience, I would recommend ordering in person because they lost our online order one time and, if you order online, you can't choose your own combinations of kabobs and/or proteins (I personally like ordering the falafel and gyros). Food Ordered: * worth trying - [Salad*]: I usually like to order the salad base. Out of the kabobs and proteins I've tried, I would recommend the beef kobeeda, falafel, and gyros proteins. I have also tried the veggie kabob, which isn't bad, but not as good as the aforementioned proteins, considering it's only grilled vegetables. I liked the flavor of the chickpeas but I prefer a more melt-in-your-mouth texture in my chickpeas like the ones at Charcoal Kabob. The chickpeas at Reston Kabob were a smidge gritty. Also, I have to highlight the sauces that come with the meal; both the green sauce and the white sauce have the perfect amount of acidity with the green sauce being bright and herbaceous and the white sauce being creamy and not too yogurt forward. My husband and I really like the white sauce here, so much so that we bought a bottle of it recently haha. - [Samosa*]: I don't think I've ever had a bad samosa and this tastes like your typical samosa. - [Baklava]: I tried the one with pistachios and the one with walnuts. Comparatively, I liked the one with walnuts more because the pistachios tasted a bit off to me and the pistachio flavor was a lot stronger versus the milder flavor of the walnuts. The only reason I'm hesitant to recommend it is because I thought it was soaked in too much syrup, making it a bit too sweet for my preference. As a heads up, each order of baklava comes with four small pieces. Would I go back?: Most definitely!
