Absolutely fabulous food. Mom cooks, dad bakes, and they cater as well. Can't say enough about how good this food is.

Hands down the best non-kabob persian food on the east coast. I've been to many of them all the way from Atlanta to VA to NY. The way Marjan cooks and serves her food reminds you of that one aunt back home who is famous in the family for her cooking and hosting skills. Marjan's kitchen is spotless. She puts her heart and soul in her food and she is proud of what she does. I had the Abgoosht special. Lamb shank in stew with chick peas, tomato and potato pieces. Definitely one of the best I have ever had. You could smell and see home cooked all over this dish. There were all kinds of little herbs and spices with perfect proportions (and not like indian food where all you taste is spices). Service is also exceptional. Both ladies were very polite and welcoming during my visit and made sure they checked back and made little conversation with me. I have found the gem and will be sure to visit and support Marjan regularly. I did not know her from Adam but have a lot of respect for her now. Try it once and you won't go anywhere else for persian non-kabob food any more! read more

Marjan - Abgoosht Special - Persian/Iranian Near Me - Vienna, Virginia

See all

If you are ever craving great Persian food make sure to stop by Marjan. Marjan is a cute eatery in the heart of Vienna. It is best to pick up your food and go as they do not have many tables or chairs inside their restaurant. They have a great menu! A selection of Persian food that goes beyond kabobs! They have various soups, rice dishes, and stews in addition to appetizers and desserts! They also have daily specials that are a must try! I have tried their Baghali Polo (rice with herbs and lima beans) with lamb shank, Kootlet (meat and potato patties), and their Kofteh Tabrizi (big meatballs), as well as their cookies. Make sure to check their times since they close a bit earlier in the evening. Overall great service and food, I am looking forward to my next visit! read more

The food was amazing, and the portions generous. The owners/staff were very friendly and even though this place looks like it mostly caters/ does carry out, there are a few tables to have a cozy sit down meal (unfortunately next to a very tempting and delicious pastry selection) ... read more

Stay away. Oh my god . I cant believe they let burn rice and chicken be sold. My husband bought a chicken and saffron rice and one lamb and baghali polo home. I really was shocked!!!! 1- at website the price is lower than what they charge. Beware of their customer attraction trap. 2- We were customer 1 year ago when i was at fairfax hospital. but just wanted to test again for our daughter's birthday catering. It sucks. The rice smelled burn and they spiced it with lots of cinnamon to take the smell. 3- Also the chicken leg was completely chunked. Meats scattered all over the rice. As if they have warmed a frozen cooked one. I swear it was a frozen one being warmed. This is old fashion trick but not one to be used at a so called " home kitchen" 4- come on, you charge 17$ for a plate , use real saffron please not a saffron color. We Iranians know the difference very well. like some places, they have gained some reputation and now they just lowered the quality and higher the price. This not how it works you loose customers. i never come back and never again bring or introduce to friend. read more

Homemade style Persian cuisine. Not a place for sit-down dining, but a great carry out or delivery/catering restaurant. Delicious freshly baked good. Family owned which is a plus. Very accommodating and professional service. read more

The best and most Authentic Iranian restaurant in the US with friendly staff. I am from Tabriz (capital of Azerbaijan province in Iran) and I was surprised by the food authenticity and quality. I tried not only their awesome foods but also their delicious sweets and everything is the same quality as that of you can find in Tabriz. Great place. read more

Awesome food. Incredible varieties of Persian (Turkish) cuisine you could see, smell, and choose from. Wish the Abgoosht was served in a bowl rather than a plate. The space is limited to two tables so either call and reserve or just do carry out like most. read more

Great food and clean place and friendly staff A+ i defiantly go back Highly recommend

The best of Persian cuisine! Consistently great!

Amazing Persian food . Just opened a shop in Vienna ate here once and I'm a forever customer now . Highly recommend it.

We bought a stuffed eggplant, which had gotten rotten. The price is also expensive for the quality you get

Love the food it's simply delicious and mouth watering. It's definitely a different take on Persian restaurants as they all seem to mostly serve kabobs which can be very dry without a stew on the side to assist with flavor. This place does well for specializing in delicious soups, stews, colorful vegetable entrees and delectable lamb shanks. I would only suggest that they open up a dine in section soon for when I want to try everything! I highly recommend Marjan to all the Persian food seekers who are tired of kubidehs and raw onions read more

I tried the coconut cookies sprinkled with almonds and now I am hooked. Great place if you're looking for real quality. read more

More tips if you visit: About the Ghormeh Sabzi, I typically order it on top of baghaali polo rice. I find the flavor of the greens, herbs and lime of the ghorme sabzi blends well with the dill and fava/lima beans of the bahaali polo. They're also good with a kookoo sabzi or two mixed in. As for the Adas Polo, make sure to get it with the fried onions on top, along with the raisins, dates and lentils. Getting it with the fried onions added makes all the difference in the ultimate flavor of the dish. Also, make sure to try the baghlava (baklava) and other Persian sweets that Marjan's husband Jamshid prepares. Tastes are individual but IMHO Jamshid's Persian baghlava is the tastiest baklava I've ever had anywhere. It may simply be my taste preference, but of the Greek, Turkish, and Lebanese baklavas I've had...and I've liked them all...the Persian version seems to taste best to me. read more

We came across this place accidentally and I must say it was one of the best surprises in my life (food wise). They also have three tables where one can eat inside. Their dishes are all made authentically (Azari and Persian) with fresh ingredients. We ordered four dishes and they were all amazingly delicious with reasonable prices. This is indeed our new spot when we crave authentic Persian dishes. read more

Very cute french-inspired, Persian cuisine restaurant. Love the decor and ambiance! Food is amazing as well!! My new lunch/catering spot!

I tried all the Persian Restaurant in VA and i would say this is the closest you can get to a homemade Persian food.

I first heard of Marjan when driving by one day and looked them up online. The other day I picked up several dishes to try and had some friends over for a dinner / taste testing. Everything was very good, even after I took home and warmed up again. I am familiar with Persian cooking and the ghormeh sabzi, gehmeh bademjan, and zereshk polow were my favorites. My friends (who are less familiar with Persian food) voted the koofteh tabrizi best. Overall a lovely, satisfying feast! Even the dessert we had was great. I will be going back for lunch very soon and suggest you do the same! read more
