AMAZING!! I tried this place out for the first time today and got a family platter for 2-3. The amount of food they gave me was so much it was able to feed four people with leftovers still! The place is split with a burger place and it reminds me of a classic diner style. The cashier was super nice as well and gave me some baklava on the house! I called in my order and it was ready within 10 minutes. Super convenient, tasty and worth the price. We used Maman Joon in McLean, VA for catering for our wedding, and I honestly cannot say enough positive things about our experience. We ordered Joojeh Kabob, Koobideh, and Lamb Shank. There are several reasons why I would choose this restaurant again for my wedding: 1. Food quality was amazing. Both our Iranian and American guests raved about the food, saying it was the best food they have had at a wedding. The meat was tender and juicy and the rice was delicious without being oily, which is very hard to do. Our guests went for seconds and thirds and majority of the food was finished even though we ordered extra! Even my mom, who is a very harsh judge of Persian food, loved it. 2. Service was excellent. Wedding planning is a really stressful process, so choosing a caterer is really important. Coordination with Mr. Sanaei was very smooth. He gave us his personal phone number and texted us everything we needed within hours (including COI and business license). The business is very organized. The delivery was on-time, and all the food arrived well-packed. 3. Most importantly, the staff at the actual restaurant is just really kind. I initially just went for a meal and after being treated with such kindness, I decided to use them for catering. Honestly, I get a feeling that the staff are more like my cousins. The ability to run an efficient and organized business, while still giving us a homy/comforting feeling is what makes this Maman Joon so special! 4. Price is great! The food is outstanding and plentiful. When you order a regular entree you will get some fresh flat bread and yogurt with cucumbers as you wait. While it seems to be a fast casual restaurant, you will get your food served on a real plate with real utensils. The chicken is well seasoned and juicy all the time. Oh wow. We had to come by again while in town because of how much we loved it last time. They did not disappoint. The adas polo was perfectly cooked. The rice grains were long and perfect and the rice was cooked exactly the way it should be. Portion sizes were massive and I couldn't finish my food. Served with bread and a nice mast r khiar. It was thick and tangy. The surprise of the day was zayton parvardeh and it was so amazingly. It reminded me of an olive version of fesenjan. Tasted amazing with the adaa polo and morgh. You'd never believe this is fast food because everything tastes like home. I urge you to come here if you love Persian cuisine. I have been to this place 3 times: Ive enjoyed the most their chicken kebab with rice and falafel appetizer was good also. I was not a fan of tahini sauce on the falafel appetizer. It tastes like pure tahini, the texture of it - wasnt very pleasant (felt very sticky and oily). The falafal sandwich was good, but the the flat bread was very chewy and hard. Wow, I truly had high hopes for this place but it crashed and burned with the food we got. Should've known better to think that a burger joint could make real Persian food in the first place. The pictures on Yelp are deceiving, you will not be given restaurant quality food with your take out order, actually you won't get the food they picture on Yelp because it's a freakin' burger joint so what d'ya expect? Recommended this place to some folks I work with that trusted my foodie opinion and they all came back with the same response, "I just didn't enjoy this food"... A couple of us got the Fesenjan since I'd had this before at a different restaurant but theirs was a sad mess. Hard to describe the flavors but it was overly sweet and had none of the complexities of cumin/nutmeg/cinnamon that are normally associated with Fesenjan. Couldn't detect any of those beautiful seasonings in this plus there were no fresh herbs or any pomegranate arils sprinkled on top which is the ONLY way to serve this dish. A waste of money and I can't find a way to recommend this food to anyone else. It's a burger joint so don't expect your food to be served the way they post it on Yelp, there's nothing fancy or refined about this place. My main gripe is the awful rice they served me last night which was in line with another Yelper that encountered it, mine was just a thousand times worse!
