The FOOD, and the SERVICE, is really good but as for the small things that people get the prices are high and outrageous for a fruit roll-up and the little bit of fruit like watermelon $8 is high and $7 for the the roll-up is very high plus the room that one smokes hookah in is also very smokey although the food is great the room has no ventilation and the windows are always closed due to someone wanting more cigarette and hookah smoke too fill the room which is not good the only reason I gave a 2 is due to the food and nice staff my friend and I have asked them too put a ventilation fan to suck out the smoke but nothing yet or ever read more

We always order food from Friends Kabob for our parties, and their kabobs and chicken kabobs are consistently outstanding. We recommend them to all of our friends, and everyone has always been extremely happy with the food. They use high-quality, fresh ingredients, and in my opinion, this is one of the best Persian restaurants around. If you want to experience the authentic taste of Persian cuisine, Friends Kabob is definitely the place to go. All of the appetizers are delicious, especially the Kashk Bademjan, which is absolutely amazing. Their sandwiches are also incredibly flavorful and satisfying. I'd rate this a 2.5 but upped it to 3 bc the staff is kind. The parking is small and people don't care to park within the lines lol. Also didn't realize this place has hookah but luckily the room on the right and the room on the left have doors to keep the smoke out from the center room which is for the restaurant ordering and seating. Staff is very nice, attentive and they check in on you, which i appreciate. They weren't standing around or being lazy, they were between rooms checking on customers. I orders a chicken shish kabob with the veggies, my sister got the combo 1, and I ordered the spicy chicken for my parents. Personally, the butter rice, chicken and veggies taste good together, but each separate component is very bland. The spicy is a bit better but other places are better compared to here imo. My coworker suggested this to me after I said I was craving Kabob's today! He had gotten them a few weeks ago and said it was a place that did delivery so I didn't have to drive out and pick-up. They partner with GrubHub on Yelp. I ordered 3 kabobs, as I will be eating this all weekend (and to reduce those delivery prices + Tips). I got a side of bread (as it didn't come with bread). The price of everything, with delivery, in the photo is about $30. The side order of bread: they give you sooo much of! It's very tasteless. The chicken and lamb kabob's looked really good. They are charred on a few sides like they should be! They are cooked to be moist inside, but lacks flavor. Doesn't taste like it was marinated at all. Not even salt or peppered. The green sauce that is pictured, is very flavorful! Has a little heat to it, but not overly spicy. I've been putting it on EVERYTHING. The salad is just loose mix lettuce with a couple sliced cucumbers and tomatoes. I was very Shocked that everything is separate charge. Normally, when I get Kabobs, it comes with rice, bread and a side like salad/chickpeas/lentils. I was really hoping for the skewered onions and tomatoes like the pictures on the yelp page lead you to believe. But I suppose those are just "advertisement" photos. Notice the difference between the bread in the advertised photo's and the triangle pieces they sent in my photo. I would have liked some grilled veggies, I even added it as a comment in my order to add additional veggies please. But as you can see in the photo's, the side salad and the 1 singular tomato is all the veggies that come with this. Overall, this was a "Meh. I've experienced better". They are located right across the street from Greenhouse, which is a great place for dancing on a Friday or Saturday night. I would recommend swinging by before or after! They have great portions with a decent variety. They have indoor and outdoor covered seating. You have to order at the counter then sit down, they will call your order once it's ready. I knocked a star off because of the parking situation and the service. I felt rushed and he was not helpful at all. The parking was a hassle but if you wait you will get a spot. I was incredibly close to giving this review 3 stars. After a few bites of my lunch, I was almost like ho-hum, the food is okay, nothing too special, chicken is decent and small sandwich, comes with fries and is fairly cheap. And then something incredible happened. Once I took more bites in, and the food started to settle in, the flavors of the chicken schwarma sandwich I ordered started to take on a second gear of incredible flavor! I mean this stuff came on like I wasn't even expecting it. The spices and extra flavor rushed in like I had not felt in a while. Their dipping sauce is decent, not too spicy, but the watered down taste adds texture and flavor to not overwhelm the human taste bud. The fries? Some of the more authentic tasting french fries since my Israel days, and that says a lot. The people behind the counter were a bit cold. But if you approach them with respect, they'll give it back to you in return. That simple, but believe me, so many people don't know how to behave in a restaurant, so maybe I have to rehash this one. Next time I'd love to try a gyro, falafel, or their koobideh. All of it sounds enticing enough to warrant another trip. read more

I mean I have been coming here for years and although this looks like a hole in the wall with very crappy seating, the food is consistently good, the hookah is good and its a self-serve casual place which works just fine for me. You order at the counter and they announce your number for you to get your food. The kabob selection is fresh and consistently good; whether you get the sandwiches or rice platter. I like the chicken kabob and koobideh sandwich and when it comes to rice, i usually go for the koobideh platter. We always end our meal/hookah sesh with their house tea which is always brewed to perfection. I have noticed that they have persian desserts nowadays. Havent tried any but might do in the future. This is also one of the few places that dont have a buffet system at dinner during Ramadan which is helpful if you are not fasting, dont want to pay the buffet price or want a more low key place. read more

Such a great name for a great place. Modest atmosphere, counter service and great quality. The place serves food and hookah. Great lay out allows people who don't smoke hookah to enjoy the food. It is also dog friendly. You get to relax enjoy your food and hookah without feeling pressured that you need to order something. And if you want anything you just walk to the counter and order it. Kabobs are to die for and besides regular menu they are daily specials. Fridays are my day with Loobia polo which is a traditional persian rice with green beans and beef. The portions are generous and well planned. You get a single portion of yogurt and salad with yoyr order. I am a regular at this place and I strongly encourage you all to try it. It's very rare to find a restaurant with good food AND good service. I've frequented Friends for it's kabobs for a very long time because it's faulty quick and the good never disappoints. Tonight I ordered delivery and through a mix up of my own fault the order was placed for pick up. They sent a driver to drop off my order and he he brought my food very quickly. My boyfriend came here last night to get our hookah and grub fix. I was starving since we had not ate since 1pm earlier in the day and by the point we got here was around 9:30. Friends Kabob was swarmed with Persians. It seemed my boyfriend knew most of them. We ended up sitting with some of his friends where we spent the evening conversing, playing cards, telling jokes, and of course, smoking some hookah. The hookah we picked was flavored with pink and mint going on the recommendation from one of his friends. Turns out this was pretty good. It hookah lasts for a good two hour. We changed out the coals occasionally, but it was definitely longer lasting than some of the previous hookahs I've had. For our dinner, he got the beef and chicken kabob with rice combo and naan. It was a healthy portion enough for us to split and be full. I was really loving the beef kabob. The chicken was okay. Everything overall was decent and I would get it again for sure. For drinks we got the apple flavored lazizas which are nonalcoholic. In addition that, we also go this drink called the yogurt drink. It is comes in original or mint flavored. My boyfriend described it as watered down yogurt and water drink. He hit that right on the money because I didn't like that thing at all. It is fairly popular among his culture, but definitely not mine!! I think that will be the first and last time I taste that drink. Another fun item I tried was what would be an equivalent to a Persian fruit roll up. It was not nearly as sweet as the Americanized fruit roll up, but for sure the same consistency. Since it was raining pretty hard last night, there was some water that got in just a little bit, but nothing that ran anyone out of it. I ordered the koobideh platter for pick up. It was not that busy when I had walked in. The cashier did not seem inviting, no hello, no smile, but he wasn't rude. When I tasted my food, ( costs $10) I can understand why there are so many low ratings due to the food. The kabobs were ok, nothing special, a little pink but nothing not edible. The salad did not taste fresh and some of the lettuce seems expired. And for someone who isn't a huge hummus lover, the hummus they gave me in the platter did not taste like hummus, and more so like an oily tangy paste. The naan and the rice were pretty ok and it made eating the "hummus" with naan bearable. Overall the service and food was meh. No wonder I see quite a few people order shawarma sandwiches since they get done pretty quickly. Great night with friends, excellent food and great staff. Only downside was this girl driving backwards and hitting our front bumper. Their hookah was amazing! The chicken salad dish was not only beautiful but super delicious! Great presentation. I love the chutney sauce that they offer here because it seems to be mixed with yogurt. Yummy! I enjoy going to kabob places with friends and family and noticed this kabob place was always busy late in the evenings. When a friend and I went to this place before Christmas, I didn't realize it is a hooka establishment. Basically, there are 3 seating areas with only one small area being "non- hooka" exposure (in the middle where the register is located). I am a non-smoker. I didn't realize this was a place where people were smoking while eating; should be called Hookabob!! The main entrance we came through was the outside room, where people were smoking. Perhaps they could have an entrance to the main area? The place seemed very cluttered and not very clean. This is a great location, however, very little parking. The kabobs served were somewhat dry and not very warm so I would choose a different place to eat my kabobs in the future. Could be a great restaurant with some changes, but not for me unfortunately. read more

Came here with a coworker this Wednesday after work for a little kabob/shisha action, didn't really know what to expect as this was both of our first times going - had just heard through the grape vine that it was a decent place to go in Tyson's area. The kabob was actually on point and priced to please as well, we split orders of the chicken & beef, which both came with your usual sides of rice, salad, & pita bread. Also got a mint breeze flavored shisha to chill on for $18. I'm not a hookah connoisseur so I have no idea if that's steep or not, but at least you'll know going in. We hung out in their back lounge, which had some dated would-look-trendy-if-we-were-in-the-80's type sofas. Nice environment. Food is good. Hummus is AWSEOME! The location is a little hard to get to. If you're driving South on 123, from Tysons you'll need to do a U to get there...of course you can't make U turns along 123 in this area so you'll need to be creative. They are sharing a building with a very large dry cleaners. Parking was good when I was there but I imagine some times of the day it's a little nuts. There's also hookah available. I've never partaken of it before but a few people did while I was there. An outside area is set up for such things which is semi-enclosed during the colder months. read more

I consider this a healthier option to most of the quick lunch places in the Tysons-Vienna area. The food is a bit more bland than the shawarma you'd get in Israel or Jordan, but it's decent. I haven't had any issues with customer service. It can be a bit of a wait during lunch hour, but it's still better than fast food. My feelings are that it's "quick, affordable eats" that rivals big fast-food chains in food quality, value and health impact...
