Always a great experience here! It seems like it doesn't matter what you order (we went for the bottomless brunch) and the food will be good. Service was great as the server came back at just the right times to ask if we wanted to put more orders in. We sat outside and enjoyed the weather on a nice spring day!

Valentine's day, we didn't have a reservation, but we were seated outside. There was a little heater in there, made it comfortable. Service was a little slow, but we ordered so many things at one time so we didn't have to keep waiting. Food was alright. Enjoyed my company. Street parking

Brunch at Ambar is unforgettable! The endless tapas styled plates is the way to go as it offers a way to sample the entire menu without overstuffing yourself. And they offer lunch and dinner in the unlimited forms as well, so you not just constricted to the brunch times for the endless options for 2 hours at a time. The venue is spacious with seating available upstairs and downstairs. They even offered mocktails that were not listed on the menu as the server was willing to be very accommodating to our group. The meats were tender, the waffles were soft, the flatbreads were perfectly size, the meat pie was airy, and the donuts were soft. Everything about the experience was immaculate! I would return time and time again.

Ambar can be quite cost-effective if you plan it right and come hungry. Some dishes are worthwhile, like the lamb lasagna and slow roasted lamb. Others didn't quite hit the mark for me, but that's the nature of exploring a big menu. The ambiance is pleasant and the service is efficient, though it could feel a touch more personal. I'd say try it once, you'll know if it's for you.

After hearing all of the hype, we came here for the $36.99 weekend brunch buffet. The place was packed as expected, so much so that we ended up with bar seating despite having reservations. The restaurant itself has a casual vibe with a touch of upscale. The first round of food, chosen by the waiter, included all the highlights to start with. They were the showstoppers! We especially loved the sampler spread, Balkan kebab, and cheese pie. For the second round, we ordered on our own, but the dishes were just average. The steak was a bit chewy, and the shrimp and grits had only one shrimp and very little flavor. Where the brunch really fell short was dessert. The waffle tasted like it came straight from the freezer and was disappointingly soggy. Overall, the meal started strong but lost momentum. Great for a visit to try Balkan cuisine!

Fun spot and great service with so much space! We were able to get in on a Friday night with no reservation. There are 3 floors, with a different vibe on each floor. No elevator, but there's still an accessible entrance with a ramp. There's an all you can eat experience for $50 - really good deal. We used inKind to pay, so got a deal with that too - use my referral and you will too: HO75U4TN We ended up doing the a la cart menu but I'd go back to try the unlimited another time!

Ambar! This Capitol Hill location never disappoints whether it's brunch or dinner, I always leave with a full belly and a fantastic experience. The service is consistently great, and this time I sat at the bar where I had plenty of space for all the delicious dishes I ordered. My favorite dishes to date are the lamb lasagna and the sausage both incredibly flavorful and so well-prepared. Ambar continues to be one of my go-to spots in DC, and I always look forward to my next visit.

We. Had a terrific lunch. There is a large selection of small plates in an all you can it setting. Between us we ordered about 8 things. Cauliflower, chicken stroganoff, beet salad, Balkan Kebob and the breads and spreads were particularly good. Carlos Daniel V provided excellent service and suggestions. Inside dining area is very pleasant. We will definitely return.

What a yummy dinner! We stopped by on our visit to D.C. as my sister had tried this spot before and raved about it. Well, she was totally right! The hype is real. The restaurant has ample indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor area has nice mood lighting and a relaxed atmosphere perfect for any sort of occasion. Our server greeted us promptly and was able to get us an a la carte menu. We decided on the beef short rib goulash, a spread of the different dips, and cheese pie. The dips came first - my favorites were the ajvar and beet tzatziki, though I thoroughly enjoyed them all. The cheese pie was flaky and savory - I can see why it's a favorite! Lastly, the beef short rib was soft and succulent, pairing very well with the vegetables. All the flavors were so unique and interesting - it was my first time trying Balkan food! I have to say I can't wait to try more after such a lovely experience at Ambar. I would certainly come back on my next visit to D.C., though I'll be sure to save enough room for the all you can eat experience!

Really loved the AYCE lunch here on a Friday. We were seated inside quickly and there were still plenty of seats there and outside. Our server stopped by and got us water and a refill bottle. We ordered a few apps and veg for our first round but plates just came out as it was ready. Fun experience and you didn't know what you'd get next. Quite a deal at $33/person for AYCE lunch!! Definitely recommend!

I love you! Ambar is one of my all time favorite brunch spots in DC. I've been frequenting this establishment for years and recommend to everyone to give it a try. The ambiance, beautiful! They always have upbeat vibes that help you to have a good time. I have never in over a decade of going here had an issue with the service. The all you can eat brunch is tapas style for about $40 per person (unlimited drinks are more). You can order anything on the menu as many times as you want and they even take dietary restrictions into consideration. Everything I've had is so good. My favorites are the steak, Sujuk flatbread, shrimp and grits, mini doughnuts, yogurt granola, and the strawberry waffle. At a MINIMUM, I order these items every time. Plz, plz never take these off the menu! Whenever my girls and I need a reliable brunch spot, Ambar it is haha. When people come to visit from out of town and want an authentic DC experience, Ambar is on my list of must do activities. Keep up the great work!!!

Came here for a bday! Made a reservation for brunch and was seated with our group very quickly, which was a great start. The food is unlimited, but I do think the quality could be a bit better. Some dishes felt a little underwhelming, like they'd been sitting out too long or weren't crafted with much care. A few things came out cold or a bit tough, and at this price point, I expected a higher standard. For example, some of the brunch plates were super simple (which is fine), but a few strips of bacon or a piece of meat that might not have been particularly tender or flavorful. Nothing was bad, but nothing really wowed me either. That said, it's still a super cute spot. There are a bunch of pretty seating areas, aesthetic plates/cups, and overall great vibes. I def get why people come here in groups, it's fun and cute, which works really well for birthdays or special occasions. Plus, the unlimited mimosas are always nice. Also cute how they bring out a complimentary birthday plate with your name on it though. Nice touch.

I don't believe they do and I wouldn't take younger children to Ambar. I don't think it's a appropriate place for them.

Are there outdoor heaters on the patio?

I was there not to long ago and don't remember seeing any, I would suggest eating inside as it's a beautiful restaurant.

What is the wait time for brunch without reservation?

It can be up to 40 min. Grab a seat at the bar if there's room.

Are there vegan options on the dinner menu?

There are vegan options, but you might be frustrated with the lack of options if you do the "ambar experience". The menu is heavy on meat so you might be limited to side vegetable dishes.

    Bottomless mimosas only on weekends?

Yes! Brunch (that comes with bottomless mimosas) is only on Saturday and Sunday.

I kinda wish we'd eaten out there! Noise levels inside were manageable. The food was wonderful and some dishes like the flatbread pizza were larger than I expected. This was about 5:45 PM on a Wednesday night. The dining room room was maybe half full, and we could easily have a conversation without straining to hear each other. When one of us was scooting in our chair toward the table, we noticed soundproofing pads mounted under the tables...so that might account for the ability to hear one another. (Smart design!) I had The Henri Margarita, which was a beet infused casa del sol tequila with beet agave. OMG it was fantastic! My two friends tried mine and ordered one for themselves. Refreshing and delightful. They brought a small bread basket while we waited for entrees, and the sliced bread tasted homemade with a crisp crust and soft interior. Two of us had the Rockfish Imperial: rockfish with a seared crust, topped with lump crab meat, seasonal vegetables and potatoes, with a beet buerre blanc sauce. (Wouldn't that technically be a buerre rouge, then?) It was very well prepared, the seared crust excellent and well seasoned, fish cooked to perfection, and the caulilini (part of the vege medley) was a new vegetable that I've never had before and enjoyed! Not a crumb left on the plate when I was done. Our other friend had the classic Orange Glazed Duck Breast that came with fingerling potatoes and sunchokes. He enjoyed his very much as well. For dessert (and I'm sorry I didn't get the actual name of it) we shared a chocolate mousse cake with banana gelato. The cake was good, the gelato was delicious and refreshing, and the pairing was outstanding. The service was very attentive, and we didn't need to flag anyone down for anything. I really enjoyed the Short Rib Ravioli and my friend said she also enjoyed the Baby Spinach Salad. Our ravioli was delicious but my friend did indicate this his was slightly undercooked and the ravioli was a little tough. I ordered the Seafood Cioppino. While I did expect bread to use for the Saffron Broth, I ordered it on the side for an upcharge. I wish it was a little more toasted and warm. The Seafood Cioppino itself was pretty good but not sure if I would order again as it wasn't very filling by itself. I also ordered a side of the Spinach & Oyster Mushrooms in Garlic Butter. It didn't have too much of a garlic flavor and just tasted like sauteed Spinach and Mushrooms. Overall, things were good and as it got busier, service did have some lags. I liked the warm ambience of the restaurant and would consider coming back trying some of the other items on the menu.

After you sit down, it will take 6 minutes for someone to come talk to you. When they do, be prepared to wait a significant time period for anything to arrive. If you so for another drink when your meal arrives, your drink will not have arrived even after you are done with the meal. I feel bad for the waitress. I'm sure it's not her fault They're probably underrstaffed due to the boss But for the price and quality I'm not interested in coming. Back Parking is rough The food is ok but not great If you order dessert, expect it to come 25 minutes later .

Hard to find an elegant restaurant like this anymore where the food and ambiance are superb. Being a bit "old-school" about fancy restaurants, I like getting dressed up and going to a place that feels special. This is the place. Not only is the food delicious, but expertly presented. An amazing bread basket that I had to refrain from eating too much as I knew my dinner would be rich and filling. Also, the cocktails are superb. Even though many restaurants now serve specialty cocktails, they don't always live up to expectations. Here at Bas Rouge they are mixed beautifully. One should be aware that, although I believe you can order al a carte, it's mainly a three/four or seven course menu. NOTE: I was extremely dismayed to see that they had foie gras on the menu. Especially seeing that this restaurant is named after I believe the owner's breed of dog that he loves, I believe foie gras, as many people do, is animal cruelty to produce. They also serve veal that again, is usually from animals confined to crates that stunt their growth. Sorry for the bummer ending, just stating what I believe is factual.

The flagship of New York energy mogul Paul Prager's BluePoint Hospitality Group (which also owns…read moreseveral other restaurants and boutiques in town), Bas Rouge isn't the kind of restaurant you expect to find in Easton, a sleepy little burg on Maryland's Eastern Shore. In fact, in this age of smart casual eateries dominating the culinary landscape, restaurants like Bas Rouge are becoming increasingly difficult to find anywhere. According to their website, "(It) is a contemporary European restaurant offering an impeccable integration of fine dining, a world-class wine list, and elegant service." And that pretty much sums it up. Indeed, this is classic, refined Old World dining at its most gracious. The décor is reminiscent of a grand 19th century Austrian bistro. Furnishings include an antique Lobmeyr crystal chandelier & sconces, marble-topped antiques, and 19th century Austrian & German oil paintings. Executive Chef Harley Peet and Chef de Cuisine Phil Lind, utilizing ingredients sourced from the very best local purveyors and farms, present a stylish & innovative take on Viennese & European classic dishes... and their cuisine is nothing short of extraordinary. Dinner began with an amuse-bouche, a sliver of perfectly prepared tuna garnished with capers. The presentation was simple... but the taste sublime. And even more sublime was the wine that accompanied this gift from the chef - a glass of Champagne. But not just any Champagne. No, no... Dom Perignon... And that was just a hint of the marvelous things to come. An appetizer of Sweet Onion Ravioli was filled with house-made ricotta crowned with spargel foam and smattering of brown butter crumbs. Spargel is a variety of white asparagus that Germans refer to as "white gold" and pay more per kilo for it than they do meat. Peeling and boiling for just the proper amount of time unlocks its unique flavor, which is subtler, lighter, and slightly sweeter than its green cousin... and proved a delectable complement to the delicately textured ravioli. This was my dining partner's choice, and she was not disappointed. My Petit Tomato Salad - comprised of red, yellow, and Sungold (golden orange) cherry tomatoes, splash of tomato water, and hint of basil - is another one of those deceptively simple dishes filled with all sorts of unexpected pleasures... and not merely the diversity of color. The yellow tomatoes, for example, are slightly less acidic than red varieties and, therefore, milder & sweeter in flavor. The Sungold tend to be sweet as well, but also firmer in texture. The translucent tomato water (the liquid that seeps from the ripe flesh after the tomato has been cut) not only intensifies the flavor but the fragrance of the dish as well. A marvelous starter. As my dining partner and I both love Dover sole, our choice of Dover Sole Roulade (pictured) was something of a no-brainer. And at Bas Rouge it is prepared to perfection. The filet is rolled, gently sautéed with herbed beurre monte (emulsified melted butter), crowned with pickled vegetables & toasted hazelnuts and - the pièce de résistance - surrounded by potato & green asparagus purées. As you will note from the photograph, it is a feast for the eye as well as the palate. Desserts continue the kitchen's excellent work. The night of our visit there were four possibilities noted on the printed menu: Strawberry Tart, vanilla sable, whipped vanilla ganache, strawberries; Coconut Mousse, yuzu curd, lime-infused pineapple, meringue; Pecan Brownie, pecan praline, whipped milk chocolate ganache, caramel; and House-Made Ice Creams. But the one item not listed on the menu, the Blueberry Almond Tart, a special of the evening, was our dessert of choice. Encrusted in vanilla sable (sablé is the French word for shortbread), garnished with house-made vanilla ice cream, and overrun with fresh blueberries, the tart proved to be a marvelous conclusion to an equally marvelous meal... Made even more enjoyable while sipping my final wine of the evening, Mirtillo, a stunning blueberry liqueur imported from Austria. If you happen to be visiting St. Michaels - staying at the Inn at Perry Cabin, as we were, or some other nearby location - Bas Rouge is only a leisurely twenty-minute drive away... and it is worth the trip. No, let me rephrase: This is one restaurant that is worth a journey.
