Wanted to take my wife to something special for our anniversary and some place we had not been to before. La Table Provencale exceeded expectations. We dined in the restaurant, not the bistro. Although now we want to check out the bistro too. We went with the Chef's Tasting Menu, but not the wine pairing (more on wine later). The menu started with a wonderful tune tartare appetizer and a selection of breads with fresh butter. The herbed compound butter was fantastic. First dish, was a grilled salmon with celeriac and a Calabrian chili sorbet. The first was perfect with crispy skin and the flesh warm, but not overcooked. The celeriac has nice texture and flavor. I liked the sorbet flavor wise, but the cold contrast wasn't working. Second dish, agnolotti with hazelnut espuma, mushrooms, and truffles. This was outstanding with earthy and nutty flavors. Just enough saltiness too. Third dish, roasted duck with vadouvan, fennel and some coconut. The flavors were almost like India meeting France. Very different and very good. Fourth dish, wagu beef with caramelized parsnip and Madeira glaze. Perfectly cooked and super flavorful. Cheese course, was a mushroom tart that I loved but not a whole lot of cheese. A perfect layered mousse cake for dessert, wrapped things up. They have an exceptional wine list available here on their website https://www.laubergeprovencale.com/northern-virginia-restaurant. They have received a Wine Spectator award. The list covers a little of everything, including Virginia favorites like Glen Manor's Hodders Hill and St. Ruth and some of Michael Shaps offerings. Ingredients are sourced from local farm favorites such as Whiffletree Farm in Warrenton, Baker's Farm in Mt. Jackson and Meadowbrook Farms in Huntly. Outdoor views are great and the inside vibe is romantic and high class. This is an expensive meal to be sure, but the quality and artistry of the food and the well above average service make it worth it.

Some really phenomenal meals here. We were lucky enough to be (the guinea pigs) among the first to experience the new Chef's creations on his first two nights. The bistro menu was all that was available on Wednesday and the Halibut for two, steamed in parchment with classic French herbs tasted fresh, succulent, satisfying. Simply delicious. Wow. The salad verte was fresh, with a simple but tasty dressing. Chocolate Pots de Creme dessert was rich, decadent, over the top delicious. Hats off to the Pastry Chef too!!! She Rocks! The Stay and Dine 3 course menu consisted of an Amuse Buche of savory macarons served on a hot stone. Rustic, but classy. The fresh breads were phenomenal. Crusty, chewy, flavorful- Damn am I back in France? My halibut appetizer in a foam tasted exceptional, and the huge lamb shank was delicious, perfectly seasoned with fresh herbs. Good think our room had a refrigerator so we could take part of the shank back home with us. Desserts were again exceptional. The wine list is not to be overlooked. It is lengthy and as you might expect, focuses on France. There are a few good values and some wines with four figures that you'd have to be really, really rich and appreciate fine wine or have a special someone for whom price is no object. One of the things that makes a restaurant or a hotel memorable is the service. Well, we had four servers taking care of us each night, taking turns, each with his own personality, each sharing the server and clean up responsibilities. All were exceptional. Thanks James -- you make a mean Old Fashioned and had some great tips. Thanks Drew -- please work on your Sommelier certification -- you know your stuff and have what it takes. Rutledge, well done.

Port braised Fig with goat cheese - A dessert is presented in a clear wine glass containing whipped cream, a dark jelly cube, and a small amount of sauce or syrup. The glass is placed on a white tablecloth, with a candle and other tableware visible in the background, indicating a fine dining environment with subdued lighting.

After 5 years living in the area, my husband and I are so thankful to have finally found a restaurant that meets our culinary expectations. Our Valentines Day Tasting Menu was spectacular. The service was exemplary and the menu progression was exactly as we had hoped. The only critique we had was that we could have had a bigger piece of toast for the tartare.... but that is really splitting hairs. I recommend this establishment to anyone and everyone that wants a quality fine dining experience with a spectacular meal and an amazing wine and spirit list

Ummm. Save your money, go elsewhere. This place is off. The service was off, the food was off, the ambiance was off. We were brought two things we didn't order (bottled water and spring salads), and three things we did order were given to other people (lamb, truffle fries, vegetables). When the servers took the items off the other table (which had been picked at), and delivered to us - we ask that they bring us new items, believing these were the best health precautions given the pandemic (and also any other time!), they returned with what we were sure were the same items a few minutes later. We raised our concerns and received an apology, but the tenor was the same - we received no assurance they were not the same items, especially given how cold in temperature they were. From that moment on, we had a new waitress and never saw the original staff again. It was all very strange. Otherwise, everything was just slightly off. The espresso was spilled on the way out, no sugar spoon was provided so we had to keep the spoon that came with the sugar bowl, the cheese was not the same as was described, the "aioli" was just mayonnaise, the wait staff was......whew, seemed like either hostages or they were taking hostages. We paid $200 for dinner for two people, it wasn't worth it. Save your money, go elsewhere.

Pigs on the line (aka table side bacon service), loved the presentation and a great starter.

For the first time since the pandemic hit my wife and I were able to find a babysitter and take advantage of our first trip here, had a wonderful evening. We thankfully took advantage of the "table side bacon service" otherwise known as pigs on the line if I recall, a great app if you enjoy bacon. Who am I kidding, who doesn't...lol. We both opted for the scallops and pork belly which was fantastic and enjoyed Christion their sommelier who was perfect in his selections. One of which was my desert glass of Madeira which was my first exposure to this varietal, but quickly won me over from my usual Tawny Port. Thank you everyone there for a truly delightful evening, we can't wait to get back.

If you're looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of DC or Baltimore, L'auberge Provençale in Virginia is the perfect spot. It's got a serene, relaxing, countryside feel, surrounded by beautiful green fields and lush trees. Their restaurant, La Table Provencale, is one of the best I've tried in a long time. They locally source as much as they can with a strong focus on quality, and all the dishes I had reflected that down to the last bite. The interior is cute, yet sophisticated and elegant. It's the coziness of your own dining room in a home away from home. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about not just the ingredients in the food, but also the history surrounding the food and wine pairings in our meal. There's definitely something to be said about having a full experience beyond just eating and drinking. For dinner, guests have the option of doing Chef's Tasting Menu, which is a meal full of the chef's favorites, or the more customizable Menu Prix Fixe, where you can choose from several dishes for each course. Some of my favorite plates were their Raspberry Point Oysters with champagne mignonette, their Citrus Cured Hamachi, and their Farm Egg. Definitely make sure to give them a visit because their food is second to none! You will leave SUPER impressed and satisfied.

Excellent meal! We'd previously brunched @ La Bar and were looking forward to trying to the chef's tasting @ La Table. Every course was delectable, playful, inspired and often unexpected. From start to finish... the oyster was salty perfection with v fresh mignonette. Egg, grits, pork belly, crispies? Yum! Next, the soft shell crab was the best I've ever had, and I'm from MD's Eastern Shore! The post modern PBnJ parfait was indulgent, nostalgic yet brand new. Bread! Also fresh and yum, delicious butter. Lamb course may have fallen behind the others if it wasn't for the Berber spiced sauce. The cheese course was more exciting than anticipated, I've been inspired to dig out my kitchen aid ice cram maker. Vinegar sorbet? Moving on! More inspiration for my ice cream maker, the fruit sorbet and coconut granite was A+. And uhhhh chocolate cherry? You're just going to have to go find out for yourself!! Magical. We opted for the wine pairings, which were varied and exciting for us wine novices. The Lebanese red was probably our favorite. Service was warm, very professional, yet approachable. The setting is bucolic. Want laid back deliciousness? There's a lovely patio and La Bar is cozy too. Want a sophisticated dining experience you won't soon forget? La Table. Can't wait to return.

Charcuterie for two

Imagine tasting the most flavorful dishes from around the world with the intimacy of a warm, cozy, French inn. Starting off with a charcuterie board that pairs the most savory bacon wrapped duck pate with homemade apricot jam. A deviled egg dusted with bacon powder and fish roe that added the perfect saltiness. Leading into Japanese hamachi and foie gras duck dumplings in a aromatic Vietnamese pho broth. Making our way into the main course of swordfish and scallops that were so fresh we forgot we were still in Virginia. Generous tasting portions, charming service, an extensive wine and cocktail list are just a few reasons why this is one of the best restaurants in Northern Virginia!
