It wasn't too busy on a Tuesday night and we were seated promptly at a table with the long bench along the left wall. For some reason, there is an antique Coke machine as you walk in. There are also a few semi-private dining booths along the opposite wall. It seems the tables are custom made with a built-in hidden drawer holding napkins, chopsticks and spoons. I say it's custom made because the drawer dividers are a perfect snug fit for the napkins & utensils. The menu is pretty extensive and it helps that there are pictures and descriptions for each dish. The Seafood Scallion Pancake is THICK and crispy on the outside. It's more batter than seafood or scallions, but it is twice as thick as any I've ever seen and is very filling. The sweet soy sauce on the table goes very well with it. We had to try the restaurant namesake, Naju Gomtang Guksu Noodle Soup. The milky beef bone broth must have been simmering for hours, if not days and was full of flavor to go well with the chewy, handcut noodles. I was expecting pieces of beef in the soup, but that is in the "special" beef soup that I'll have to remember to order next time. The Dolsot Bibimbab is also good with lots of meat & vegetables atop a bed of rice in a hot stone bowl and topped with a runny fried egg. The bowl could have been hotter to create the crispy rice layer that we like. You mix it up yourself with the gochujang fiery red sweet/hot sauce and you're good to go. Japchae is one of my wife's favorite Korean dishes, so we had to have that. We also had the Shiitake Mushrooms & Crispy Tofu , a very Chinese vegetarian dish, which had a tasty brown sauce. Pass the rice, please!

It came with beef slices and glass noodles inside and a side of rice. I didn't think it was too bland but still added a small pinch of salt. It's not something I'd crave all the time but still enjoyed it eating it! What surprised me was the tangsuyuk! We got the beef and it was amazing!! I honestly think my favorite of all the Chinese Korean places in the bayside/flushing area. The radish banchan was also SO GOOOD - probably my favorite that I've had in a long time too. Eager to come back for this and try some other dishes as well. Service was quick and lots of seating, for big groups too! Being in the Hmart plaza is another plus with the parking lot!

The positive grungy vibe with the decorated walls and wooden furniture gave the place a unique charm. However, the ambiance paled in comparison to the food laid out in front of us. I loved the rich flavors of the broth and the quality of the food was high. Definitely going to be one of my go to spots for hot pot. I'm really curious to try the pickled mustard hot pot base next time as well, but considering my love for spicy food - I won't be sad to go for the spicy broth again. Call your friends up and force them to come out with you this upcoming weekend for daylight savings to enjoy some good food.

The congee here is perfect. It's not too watery or too thick -- just the right balance of meat and rice. I don't think I've tried anything I didn't like. I come here at least once a month. Food is good, service isn't…read more I came in the afternoon, it's not busy so it's just one waiter. I sat down as a party of one, the waiter put down their pot of complimentary tea then immediately asked me what I want to order as he's handing me the menu. I asked if I can look at the menu first. I ordered a bowl of the preserved egg/pork congee and a bowl of wonton soup. The food came quickly, maybe 1-2min. The waiter then proceeded to bend down close to my face (too close for comfort) and asked me in Chinese if I can finish the food or not. His mandarin is a bit hard to understand so I was a bit perplexed if I misheard the question and asked him again then he turned to leave and literally waved me off with his arms (ok..?) Food was hot and excellent. Each wonton piece had large pieces of shrimp in it. Overall delicious and yes I finished it! I haven't finished my wonton soup yet when the waiter puts the bill down on the table without me asking for it (what's the rush??). Price came out to be $15.75 for the 2 bowls. I was actually thinking of getting half of the scallion oil chicken to go. I asked him if I can order through him or by the meats counter he said he can do it and added the price to the receipt which now came out to be $31.75. I waited a few more min, he asked me if I wanted the tea pointing to the tea pot I said yes please leave it...he then pours me a cup and takes away the entire pot like he's protecting it from me, like what?! I was fuming by now but he came back to tell me like I can't read that my total is $35 (he said that bc he wants to make sure I'm clear to leave a tip...also when and what have I done to make him think I'm not tipping, I have never dined in without tipping less than 18% regardless of service...). I proceeded to hand him $36 and walked out. It's like he couldn't wait to get rid of me or something. Never coming here again to dine in, maybe take out only. This place is cash only btw. If not for the food I'd give 1 star for this epically terrible experience!!! This person should NOT be in the service industry.

With our party of four, we were a little over ambitious with what we ordered * Hoisin & Peanut Sauce Rice Rolls $6.25 - I enjoyed this as we don't get it very often. * Roast Duck on Rice $11 - We got three orders of this - one for each person. * Combo of Roast Duck and Crispy Roast Park on Rice $11 plus 25 cents This was our first meal of the day and these portions were very generous! We all had leftovers, especially since we ordered the rice rolls. In retrospect, we could have gone with 2-3 orders of roast duck and been fine. So on that note, it was a great value to us! I noticed many people order their clay pot dishes which looked quite delicious. And the hanging Chinese donut is a sight to see for sure! We also returned a few days later to get a few orders to go for our flight out. It was a bit messy though as the duck juices did leak all over the plastic bags during security screening. (In retrospect, we should have made sure the bags stayed upright the whole time.). Nonetheless, it was a great meal at the airport or would have been during our flight but we were hungry.

Loved the modern decor of this location compared to the rest. We decided to get BBQ pork, fisherman congee, and wonton with country braised duck over flat rice noodles. The BBQ pork was succulent and had a fantastic sweet glaze. The congee was filled with seafood, even fish fillets which was a nice surprise. The noodle soup broth was pretty bland and my first choice would have been roast duck but that was unfortunately sold out. The braised duck was recommended as a substitute which seemed fine but in hindsight since the fat wasn't rendered off the skin, it was quite fatty and oily. The roast duck would've been the better choice. The wontons were mediocre as expected. This restaurant gave me the feeling of Red Bowl which was the staple late night fare in Flushing in the past with a similar menu and they are open until 2am.
