This is your call to pay Jess' Restaurant a visit! Newly renovated, it gives off the grand feeling of fine dining.. except you're having brunch. The exterior is thoughtfully decorated with a dark, ocean blue and their ceilings dangled with chandeliers that fits the entire vibe of the restaurant. Their service was also excellent. (YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED TO CHECK OUT THEIR WASHROOM-- it called me broke in 7 different languages!!) Specializing in their croffles, we had to try their Korean chicken croffle and ores croffle. The flavour of the chicken was lovely and matched so well with the croffle to offset some flavours. I'm usually not a huge fan of ores, but it wasn't too sweet and the entire dessert was light and fluffy. Both were $19 and $6 respectively--which were excellent prices imo. Their soup of the day was a cauliflower soup-- nothing special but their fried onion pieces on top made it delicious. It wasn't as creamy as I would like it to be. $9 was a bit steep for its small portion though. The smoked salmon Benedict was also a huge hit! It was a very generous portion and I loved how everything stayed intact and wasn't messy. The hollandaise sauce was rich and just the perfect thickness for my liking. One of the best salmon benedicts I've had!! $19 for a big portion-- a win for me!! They had some delicious sounding cocktails but we got lattes instead! Most coffee drinks were free this month so this was a nice addition to our meal!! I do wish they had matcha or a greater variety of tea drinks though :) Overall, lovely experience and would totally visit again!!

I had lunch here with my family. This place looks absolutely opulent. Almost out of place for the Kerrisdale area. After looking at the brunch we, we tried the following: - Fried Lollipop Chicken - Good. Super crispy. Maybe a bit dried out. - Squash Burrata Pancake - Bad. This is an example when modernization is forced. This felt like a dish that was randomly mashed together without thought. It was messy and not enjoyable. - Pork Jowl - Good. Something more classic and nicely presented. - Steak Sot Bab - Average. Nicely presented, but I guess when you see something in a stone bowl, I expect it heated to help crisp up the rice. But it wasn't. So it was for presentation only. - Red Bean Ice Cream - OK. Muted flavours. - Soy Bean Mousse - OK. Nicely presented, but nothing really popped for me. Service was friendly and very attentive. Overall, I felt this place was mostly for show, with not much substance to the food. Room is impressive, and service was quite good. Food is beautifully presented, but once I tasted it, it was generally confusing and underwhelming.

I love the bathroom!! I know, not exactly what you want to hear for a food review but the it really is impressive. Equally impressive if not more than the food. Brunch is new but so good! The Jess ' breakfast is served on a tiered plate and the bread pudding was so delicious. Overall awesome place for a not too fancy but still glam brunch. I recommend reservations cause even with our reso, we had to wait for a table to leave. When the bill came they gave us our drinks free too!

I'm writing this review as my appreciation to Jess' offered a help hand to Honolulu Coffee after the fire in Kerrisdale. The fire caused power outage to the building where Honolulu Coffee located. Jess' offered Honolulu Coffee to continue the business as pop-up in the restaurant until the electricity resumes. This makes Jess' more than a place for cuisine - a symbol of connection and community resilience. I came to Jess' for the coffee twice and the ambient is great not only for modern Korean Cuisine but also good for coffee. The restaurant is very tidy and clean. I believe this restaurant brings upscale and high quality modern Korean cuisine experience to the customers. I do wish both Jess' and Honolulu Coffee will overcome the challenges and having good business in the Kerrisdale village.

A beautiful place to celebrate a birthday! This place sparkles (quite literally); their chandeliers are beautiful. The interior design feels upscale and perhaps a bit intimidating if you are looking for a casual place to eat, but I felt they don't want to come off as such with their promotions and meal sets. I went for lunch and it was my second time here. This experience was consistent with my first visit. I went with my family including my baby. The staff were very friendly with my baby and we immediately felt welcomed. We each (3 adults) got their $45 lunch set, which came with an appetizer, entree, drink (tea or coffee/cappuccino/latte) and dessert. The amount of food we received was much more than I expected and everything was cooked and flavoured perfectly. I liked how the staff offered to mix the entrees with our preferred level of sweet and spicy sauce and offered to provide more kimchi and seaweed if we wanted more. The presentation was modern and very beautiful and I love their dishware. As it was my birthday they prepared a surprise special dessert dish and took a Polaroid photo for me to take home as a keepsake. Would definitely return!

We've been to Jess' restaurant before but they changed things up to be modern Korean. I'm definitely down for this change! Started off with their Jo-Gae-Tang which is there Korean Clam Stew. It is sooo flavourful and I had every drop. I opted not to get the bread (less carbs) and it would have perfect to mop up all that goodness. Also had their Gamja-Jeon which is their version of potato pancakes. Kind of like potato au gratin but with a Korean twist. Their Galbi-Jjim was fantastic with the braised short-ribs super tender. Really enjoyed how it was braised in coffee (subtle but flavourful!). Our other entree was their Eundaegu-Jjim which is a braised sable fish with clams, pine nuts & apple ginger pickle. Also a simple but complex and delicious dish. We ended the meal with their foret noire. If you're a fan of black sesame, you're going to love this! It was almost too beautiful to eat! What a great and innovative menu that we thoroughly enjoyed!

Jess another restaurant?!? This is another one of those places I meant to come by when it first opened, but better late then never right? This place is located in the heart of Kerrisdale, right on west 41st avenue. There are paid street parkings available. Inside is quite spectacular with its layouts and furnishings. It feels more like walking into a futuristic diner than modern contemporary place. The atmosphere is an experience itself. Here were the food I ordered; 1. Blue haneul. A nice little refreshing drink. 2. Pumpkin soup. Nice and hot, revealing all of its tasty ingredients. I really enjoyed this soup. 3. Fresh oysters. Very fresh and tasty! 4. Oyster pancakes. Each ingredient complimented each other pretty well and didn't take away the spotlights of the oysters. 5. Deep fried chicken wing tower. Not too fond of this dish, a bit dry. 6. Mackerel combo. The mackerel had a nice tender texture and the ingredients helped mask a bit of the string mackerel smell. Nice little combo with the stone bowl rice. 7. Abalone and scallop hot stone bowl rice. Not a fan of fresh small abalones therefore this dish didn't do it for me. Overall, I was quite happy with the friendly and attentive services, very nice and warm ambience, and the modern take on Korean cuisine certainly intrigued the taste buds. I would love to go back and try out other dishes for dinner. I think the only thing that I am so so on was the abalone & scallop hot stone bowl rice, I had to order a poached egg to add to it to make it better. Nevertheless, good food... good service... good atmosphere! It's not Jess another restaurant, it's Jess' Restaurant!

Came here for a date night and was pleasantly impressed with the decor and ambiance considering the outside are just tinted windows making it look like a very sketch place. Once you walk in you are welcomed by the stunning blue lights and huge chadellier going across the ceiling. We went during their soft launch so I understand not everything was organized but they did their best and I believe the manager was helping us at one point and asked for our feedback which was a nice touch. All I have to say is order the applewood smoked duck breast, you will not be dissappointed. It was probably the best duck I've had in a long time! We also ordered their tomato basil bomb and burrata salad and Jess' signature vongole. I know they are also known for their high tea so maybe we will have to come back and try that out. Overall I would say if you are in the Kerrisdale and want to try a nice asian fusion restaurant, give them a shot.

    Paris-Brest
    Vivien I.

While walking in Kerrisdale in search of a dessert place, the fiancé and I were intrigued by the tinted windows and mysterious atmosphere. Given it was a Sunday evening and most cafes in the area were closed, we thought it was worth a shot. Though we didn't have any reservations, the hostess was nice enough to grant us a table (not sure if we helped in our assurances we were just interested in drink and desserts). I was instantly hit with an atmosphere that was both contemporary and upscale. All the other patrons were either wearing fancy heels or well fitted suits. I found it a little amusing that we were placed right next to the windows. Even though they were tinted, you could still see a little bit into the restaurant... so I am sure we did no favours sitting there in our casual attire. Seriously, I couldn't even pretend my jeans were "fashionably" worn out jeans, they were just...worn out. I have to appreciate the attentive wait staff that evening that engaged us in friendly banter. One waitress swore they had the best coffee in town. There were asked at least twice for everything: to take our orders, were we okay for drinks. We were even (almost) served with two sets of unique cutlery and invited up to the bar to take a peek at the desserts they had on offer. I went with an old favourite, Tiramisu while the fiancé chose the Paris-Brest (I had to Google what that was). My dessert was delicious, light, creamy, coffee expresso that was not overpowering and in a bigger portion that I had anticipated (with the price tag to match, I must admit). In hindsight you could probably get away with ordering one of these desserts on a date, and try to romantically share the two. From what I can recollect about the Paris-Brest, it had the hint of pistachio and I'm sure it was delicious, but I was already feeling quite full after finishing off my portion of the Tiramisu. Overall verdict? Enjoyable service, fancy atmosphere, worth thinking about for a date you want to impress or a big celebration with the girls.

Fancy restaurant with very attentive service in Kerrisdale. It was a cold night out and after I got my vaccine card checked, the server brought me a cup of hot water with lemon! Through out the whole night, I don't even think our cup of hot water ever dropped below the halfway mark. It just gets refilled all the time. We ordered their crispy truffle fries, French onion soup, ling cod, mushroom risotto and duck breast. The prices are in the higher side. The crispy fries were really crispy and wasn't salty at all. My ling cod was very well cook but the gochujang on the side was way too spicy for me. Instead of savouring the dish, I ended up finishing my food fast to shorten the spicy burning pain.

What a wonderful dinner we had at Jess' restaurant in Kerrisdale. They are a cafe by day (afternoon tea) and restaurant/bar by night! I love the decor in the restaurant with attention to detail that gives a sense of elegance with blue and bling theme. It did take a while to put our order in after the server brought our drinks. About 10 mins waiting for server to come back to take our order, we had to flag someone else to put our order in. The food is delicious and plated beautifully. I will be back! We ordered: Hokkaido Scallop Motoyaki - perfect heat with flavour. So good! Pan Seared Ling Cod - cod was perfectly cooked with plenty of flavour with the grilled cabbage, naengmyeon, home made chili sauce, pickled daikon, soft boiled egg, kombu dashi. I loves this dish as it wasn't too heavy. Jess' Signature Vongole - stunning dish! Anchovy garlic confit, fresh clams, prawns, ikura on a bed of noodles. I had a forkful of noodles and it was exquisitely rich. Yum!

    "Cheesecake"
    Kristie W.

The octopus main dish is a must have. The octopus is more tender than I could even imagine. The saucy beans (I'm not doing it justice by calling them this) elevate this dish to another level. Honourable mentions: wagyu sliders (beef is so juicy and flavourful), seafood vongole (perfect pasta and sauce combo), and salmon tartare (would have preferred a lighter, tangier sauce rather than a mayo based one though). Don't recommend: cheesecake. It's a deconstructed cheesecake in a cup but the way it's presented is not appetizing (see photo). Also there was a small piece of paper with the "Jess" in the middle of the cheesecake...

Jess' Restaurant is located in a Kerrisdale neighbourhood. It is at 2179 W 41st Avenue in Vancouver, and it's on the same block as Faubourg. On the table: Oyster Roasted Duck Breast Braised Short Rib Jess' Cheesecake Strawberry Tiramisu My favourites were the Roasted Duck Breast and the Jess' Cheesecake. The Roasted Duck Breast was incredibly moist and tender. It was very flavorful. Cheesecake is one of their signature dishes. It is deconstructed cheesecake with fresh berry compote and almond crumble. It was very creamy, smooth, and pretty delicious. Food: 4/5 Should Try! Service: ‍‍‍‍4/5 Kids: The ambiance seems for grown adults. Probably during lunch Price: $150+ for two (dinner with wine) Presentation: 3/5 Parking: Paid street parking Tips: *has beautiful interior design. It is the best place for date night or Instagram hashtag. *recommends to make a reservation. *has happy hour between 3-5 pm daily. *has Jo Malone products in their luxurious washrooms. Would I Return: Yes ‍ on the special occasion

We ordered a set with gimbap, tteokbokki, and noodles. The tteokbokki had that classic sweet-and-spicy sauce, with chewy rice cakes that really hit the spot (comfort food at its best). The noodles were light but surprisingly satisfying, served warm and simply topped, a great balance alongside the richer, spicy dish. Everything came out neatly on a tray, which made it feel casual and fun, like a cozy quick meal you'd come back to often.
