Jeju has been so hyped on social media since its opening in Vancouver, and reservations at a decent dinner hour are difficult to get even months after. You basically have to log in at 10 am on the first of the month, in order to secure a reservation for the following month. It's pretty much a fight to click faster than other people, with Friday nights and weekends almost impossible to secure unless you really lock in. I ended up getting a 5 pm reservation on a Thursday. Due to the hype, I admit I had high expectations. For our party of 4, we decided to order the octopus, eggplant, short rib, and seafood soup. I heard good things about the seafood soup and of course the short rib. The octopus was ok, but not worth the $32 price tag. It had about 8-10 thin slices dressed with oil. The eggplant ($19) was intriguing to look at, but unfortunately the pieces themselves had almost no flavour. These are essentially pieces of eggplant with shrimp paste on top, coated in a black tempura-like batter then deep fried. The flavour came from the mayo sauce on the side. The seafood soup had a decent amount of soft tofu as well as a lot of seafood, including a wide variety like fish, abalone, squid, prawn, and scallop. The soup also had a decent seafood flavour. However, for $33, I think a traditional Korean restaurant's soup would be better and at a lower price. Finally, the showstopper dish of the night was the short rib. Everyone says this is a must order. The quality of the beef was really good and marbled, and the portion is quite good for 4 to share. There are 3 layers of meat on the plate. It comes with a spicy arugula salad, kimchi bok choy, pickled radish, rice, lettuce and perilla leaf wraps, and a really nice sauce for the meat. Note that all the side dishes that come with it are also refillable (which I did not notice was mentioned on the menu or anywhere). However, I noticed that the table next to us was offered the option to have it torched immediately upon serving, for extra flavour, while we were not offered the same. Anyway, I am glad I tried it, and I would get it again if feeling splurgey but I'm not sure if I would come just for this. Their dessert menu is limited to one item - a deconstructed bingsoo. We did not order it. There is free street parking in the surrounding neighbourhood. I don't think I would come again. For the price tag, I'd expect better service and more dishes to be standout rather than just okay. The dinner felt rushed and the server seemed a bit inexperienced. At the end, the server even dropped a bowl which cracked everywhere. I think it is a try once kind of restaurant, only if you are curious about it.

After hearing raving reviews about the $175 galbi I finally got the chance to try it after a battle to even get a reservation. They open up a month in advance on the first and it's first come first serve with a fairly strict 2h dining time. The galbi was rich and so tender and paired perfectly with the samjang sauce.

I've been hearing about Jeju all over the place, and it was quite difficult to get a reservation with them, too. Luckily, my boyfriend handled the details for my early birthday dinner, so we were able to go last week. The restaurant originates from Jeju Tofino. I love the vibe, it's dark, moody, with red/orange ambient lighting. But of course, there is a bright light right above our heads so that I can take these beautiful snapshots of the food! The server was attentive and friendly. She gave us suggestions on how many dishes to order. She also explained that the left side of the menu was more 'Korean', while the right side was more fusion. The middle contained the two standout meat dishes - the galbi and bossam. However, we had already discussed weeks prior what we planned to order (we were too excited lol). We started with a couple of drinks. I really like the green tea milk punch. It's clarified, but tasted like green tea and chocolate milk. The food arrived lightning fast (one after another), which I loved. For appetizers, we opted for the octopus and tartare. The octopus was unique. Thinly sliced octopus paired with perilla seed oil, aged kimchi, and seaweed was a dance of light, but fragrant flavours in my mouth. I think because of how unique it was, it quickly became one of my favourite dishes that night. The tartare featured gochujang, Korean pear, and hazelnut on top. I thought it was good (with a kick of spice!), but nothing special. Next, the japchae quickly followed. You can't go wrong with japchae at any Korean restaurant, but I think I can safely suggest that you can order this at other restaurants and be just as satisfied. Finally, the star of the night was the 35 day aged galbi. My goodness, this was hefty in price, but it was so, so good. We discussed and agreed that we would rather pay $175 for this than for a steak. We can probably make a good steak at home, but it would be hard to piece together a delicious short rib meal with all the yummy side dishes. The rice was also unexplainably good - I have no idea if it's the particular grain they used, or if it was the way they cooked it. I don't know if I've ever had better plain white rice anywhere else. The restaurant does not have a large dessert selection (only bingsoo), so we opted to get ice cream elsewhere. However, the team put together the cutest birthday card and also snapped a Polaroid memory for us. It was a very sweet touch. Jeju, you have my heart. I will be back!

Great place to come for a celebration or just a regular dinner. Very clean and trendy place. The galbi was 175 dollars but there was plenty of perfectly cooked beef. The pork was 97 dollars and is the best i have ever tried in vancouver. They both come with rice, lettuce and a variety of sides. The waitress was very prompt in refilling our sides. There are so many different ways to eat it, it does not feel like eating the same thing over and over again

We arrived around 5:30 and were told the wait would be about an hour to an hour and a half. We decided to wait since we weren't hungry yet, and there's a Japanese and Korean supermarket nearby to wander around. Surprisingly, we got a text in about 40 minutes and were seated at a table. I later found out we were very lucky. Apparently they're fully booked until the end of the year, and walk-ins usually only get bar seating. We started with two cocktails: the Clarified Milk Punch and the 5 to 7. Both were excellent. For food, we shared the KFC and the galbi. The KFC (Korean fried chicken) was not bad, the sauce was similar to other places, but the pistachios on top added a nice crunch and extra flavour. The real star of the night was the galbi. It's a 35-day aged prime short rib, and honestly the best galbi we've ever had. I'd come back just for that dish and would 100% recommend it to anyone dining here. For dessert, we tried the bingsu. It was okay overall. The persimmon gelato was the best part. I'd probably skip it next time and either get dessert elsewhere or try something different if they add more options to the menu. Great ambience, lots of street parking nearby, and overall a place I'd return to, especially to try more dishes and to get that galbi again.

Amazing and attentive service, they took a polaroid of me and my partner as we were there to celebrate our anniversary! We ordered the beef tartare and the galbi, both super amazing with clean flavours. I especially loved all the pairings that came with the galbi!

One of my favorite meals I've had in Vancouver. The service was amazing and I might never forget the short rib. The other dishes were good (but perhaps nothing out of the ordinary) but the short rib was perfect and stole the show. I can't wait to come back

Service was wonderful and attentive. We were checked on several times and water topped up. The octopus was a nice started - nice and refreshing. The taste was interesting and almost had a nutty hojicha like flavour. The eggplant was piping hot and soft inside and crunchy outside. It didn't have much flavour so benefitted from the dill dipping sauce. The bossam (we couldn't justify $175 for the beef) was delicious. Even though some parts were fattier, it didn't leave a greasy taste. The japchae wasn't anything mind blowing but flavour was on point and the noodles were so chewy. The Thanksgiving milk punch was surprisingly sweet and the apple flavour was prominent and welcoming - easy on the palate. This restaurant is pretty small and seating is a bit closer together but felt cozy. We enjoyed DT trying a variety of items and I think it's better to come with a group (4 people was perfect) to share and try more dishes.

Galbi short rib was absolutely amazing, melts on your tongue.

We ordered a set with gimbap, tteokbokki, and noodles. The gimbap was generously stuffed with colorful vegetables and rice, wrapped tightly in seaweed and sliced nicely, fresh, clean flavors, and perfect for sharing. The tteokbokki had that classic sweet-and-spicy sauce, with chewy rice cakes that really hit the spot (comfort food at its best). The noodles were light but surprisingly satisfying, served warm and simply topped, a great balance alongside the richer, spicy dish. Everything came out neatly on a tray, which made it feel casual and fun, like a cozy quick meal you'd come back to often. Overall, Nomnom Seoul is a great spot for an easy, comforting bite with friends. Simple Korean favorites done well, with good portions and a relaxed vibe. I'd happily return again

Kimbab was quite voluminous and I could only eat half of it. The cold noodles were no soup and had a lot of vegetables in the them. There are many other things I want to try, so I definitely want to come back here.

They answered all my questions and offered recommendations, and were very welcoming. Nam San seems to be very popular for their Soondae (blood sausage). However, I've never really tried Soondae before and I was feeling nauseous on the day of my visit--so I opted for something more mild and less "adventurous" instead. I will definitely be back to try their Soondae next time though. Daeji Gukbap 10/10 This boiled bowl of stew was exactly what my upset tummy needed. I always order the same thing, a mixed pork offal and soondae soup. You can choose the spiciness level when you order but they also offer red pepper flakes and fish sauce on the side to add to taste. It comes in small and large, with a side of pickled radish, roasted seaweed, and white rice. Even with the small, you get a lot of meat in the hot stone bowl and it is so comforting. The offal is super tender but the star here is definitely the soondae. Pork blood and vermicelli with spices are encased in an intestine casing, making for a unique springy texture. It's even more tasty when you dip into their homemade fish sauce and the stew warms you to the bone. I love supporting small mom and pop shops, and with how tucked away this place is on the busy Robson strip, I'll definitely make an effort to frequent them time and time again.
