Disappointing and rather odd dinning experience. Jasmine is located at the corner of Double Diamond and Double R in south Reno. There is ample parking. Upon entering I was asked what food I was interested in, traditional Chinese or Sushi? As I wanted Sushi, I was walked to the other side of the restaurant, the have a larger bar/counter area but I was told it is closed and had to sit at a table. The host, waiter and would guess a possible manager or owner gave me the order form, there was no menu. I also was provided with a plate, clean napkin, chopsticks and a fork. He also brought a small tea pot with soy sauce. As there was no menu, I asked if they offered all you can eat, they DO NOT, they do have 3 multiple item options or you can order individually. The prices are slightly more expensive for what I normally see, the option I picked allowed four (4) Nigiri, two (2) rolls and an appetizer. So this is where it got weird, I had arranged my chopsticks, napkin and fork, a women came by after the male picked up my order and she began removing everything from the table like I was done, I asked what was happening, she didn't understand and the male and her went back and forth in another language. They both left, me sitting there with a clean table, just a glass of water I was holding, wondering WTF. She came back shortly with all new stuff, said nothing and left. There are several different sized tables in both the traditional area and sushi area. It wasn't very busy, which was slightly concerning seeing how it was prime lunch crowd time. I received the Miso soup, it looked very clear, like water with a lot of cut green onions. There was almost no flavor, except the onions, I tried just the broth, extremely weak, I chose not to try anymore and pushed it aside. When asked I explained my observations and was asked if I wanted to try another soup, no thank you. Ever had a meal where EVERY dish was perfect? Tonight one of my employers, Dr Leung, invited me to dinner with some of his friends. We had two large tables of ten in the back. Our service was fabulous. Drinks were always full and the food served piping hot. And the food.......perfection. All 8 platters. Now I imagine some of our dishes may not be on the regular menu. Dr knows what he likes and tends to preorder. His choices were on the mark. Be sure to check out the pictures. We started with the most tender Peking duck, lotus buns and plum sauce. This dinner is off to a great start. Chicken lettuce wraps - stir fried chicken, sausage, mushrooms and water chestnuts nestled in the freshest crisp iceberg lettuce leaves. I believe the fish soup was maw. On the chilly night it was, it hit the spot. Chinese fried chicken was next, more crispy skin and tender savory meat. What ? Lobster noodles !! Huge pieces of rich lobster laying on a queen size bed of delicious noodles. The sea bass was white and flaky. Surrounded by thin orange slices and drizzled with a beautiful light orange sauce. There were no left overs on this platter. XO New York, seriously, House XO sauce sweetly kissing cubed NY steak grilled to a perfect medium rare. Wow. Wait , we have another plate coming? I believe it was the Black Pepper Lamb. Lamb ? I don't think I have ever had lamb in a Chinese restaurant before. Again, how devine. The tender strips of lamb sautéed with onions and peppers was almost sinful. I admit, I kinda hoarded this dish. Because I did bring home the leftovers. Jazmine is a favorite of our family for Sushi. All week my kids were asking for egg rolls and so we ordered from the Chinese Menu at Jazmine for take out. The kids LOVED their first egg roll experience and the food quality was very good even as carry out. The ambience of Jazmine dining in is my preference though. The egg rolls are stuffed with vermicelli noodles and a good variety of vegetables and come with a thin sweet dipping sauce that is addicting. Jazmine Long Roll is a sushi roll with crystal shrimp, crab, avocado and a sweet sauce. Crab Rangoons were okay, they left a lot to be desired for flavor but they were still little fried purses of goodness and came with a sauce resembling a honey shrimp thick yellow sauce. Jazmine Fried rice is always a special treat, with pork-shrimp-beef-and eggs. Cashew chicken has large pieces of white chicken mixed in a thin sauce with snow peas-celery-mushrooms-cashews and a thing sauce that compliments the fish very well. Between 3 and 4 stars from me. Honestly I thought I had already yelped this restaurant and was coming back to adjust my rating. Jasmine has been one of my favorites for sushi for years. It just always been a little bit above the rest when it came to sushi in Reno. I brought my girl friend for our valentines date, and were surprised at some of the changes. The biggest thing for me was the menu seemed smaller. And AYCE is no longer offered. They do have a deal for an appetizer, 2 long rolls, and 4 orders of negeri for $26, and honestly this was plenty for us. I did add a hand roll and another negeri order.... But we didn't have too. We did take some sushi home with us which with all you can eat we wouldn't have been able too. At the same time though our service was lacking, which had never been my experience before. Tiny shrimp. 3 stars Teriyaki chicken. Breast pieces were dry. Not a lot of flavor. Teriyaki sauce was ok, but tasted like other Restaurants Teriyaki sauces. Ordered the same bottle? Won't order again 3.5 star Beef Gravy Chow Fun. Gravy was bland. Beef was nice and tender. Noodles fell apart after every pull. This was so so. Won't order again. Overall was better than average. At least 2 better options in Reno for Chinese food. Maybe 3. Prices are decent. Might try a few different dishes next time. Wonton soup is worth coming back for. read more

I decided to try this place, as its been awhile. Ordered pepper steak and some egg rolls. This came with white or brown steamed rice, i decided on white rice. Fried rice is extra. The egg rolls were delicious, made fresh to order, definitely not frozen. The rice was ok, i mean its steamed relatively fresh i think, a little undercooked, not a big thing. The pepper steak was really good! Not too many veggies to meat ratio, and there was enough left over for another entire meal. Ok, the meal was overprice a bit, but its a nice place sooo. $6 for two egg rolls seems high, but they are good. Also strange, they only have small to go drinks. No large. Just small. Weird. We ordered take out on 8/8/21 and found multiple tiny bugs 10-15 in our wonton soup and mixed Vegetables. Ian a camping type so when I saw one I kinda let it fly, but upon inspection... there were a ton of bugs I'm guessing they came from the vegetables because I didn't see any on our salmon or sushi. I called to report it and the lady told me," we can give you a credit but we can't refund your card because your order was too large." and "nobody else complained." I told her that I wanted her to promise me they would throw out the soup and that they would look hard because it's disgusting. I don't have the energy to call the health department but I might tomorrow. Also, they said I couldn't talk tot he owner because he doesn't speak English. read more

The food here is good but the service is terrible. I've been going here for years getting take out. Every time you order over $100 they take your credit card for payment. On my most recent order for takeout they forgot part of my order. When I called to tell them they questioned me multiple times. Then they told me I would have to drive back to get it. I said I wanted a refund. They told me they couldn't refund me and if I wanted my items I'd have to drive back tonight. They take credit cards all the time over the phone so it's not true they can't key in a credit card. The woman was not helpful and the manager Korina was also rude and unhelpful. It's unfortunate we had such a terrible experience here after years of loyalty. I have to contact my credit card company to get my money back since they refuse to help me. I won't be back. read more

I have been meaning to come to Jazmine's for years and I am glad that I finally have! The service was exceptional and helped make eating dinner and excellent experience. Our waiters and hostess were friendly and knowledgeable. The speed of service was also remarkable. I know sometimes going out to dinner can be challenging because you can expect long wait times for all of the meals to arrive. This was definitely not the case. All of our food arrived very quickly! It was great! At the end of the meal, our waiter came around with hot towels, infused with almond. These were for us to wash our hands and mouths. This was a wonderful touch. The food was also exceptional! The sushi was fresh and the cooked meals were savory. I ordered the black pepper chicken and was very impressed. The portions were large enough to share or were large enough to have another meals worth of left overs. The restaurant is large and can accommodate many parties at once. You have the option of sitting at the bar, in the restaurant, or at the sushi bar. There are larger table to accommodate bigger groups. These tables include a lazy Susan. Most of the dishes are served family style, so the lazy Susan is a big hit! If you are bringing a party of 8 or more I would call ahead to reserve a table. The price is a bit more expensive, not outrageous, than other restaurants, but well worth the cost. Quality! I have been going to Jazmine since it opened way back about 10 years ago (I think), and I have always loved the quality of their food and their customer service. Went tonight and as usual the food and customer service was delicious. I did find out that they no longer do "All You Can Eat" sushi service. Not sure why, but maybe covid had something to do with that. That is a disappointment, because we went there tonight hoping for a sushi feast. Sadly, it was not to be. But, we went with their Chinese dinner instead, and we were not disappointed (the Lettuce Wraps appetizer is really good). Food was delish. Friendly server as well. Jazmine never ceases to impress. Everything from their service to their food is beyond exceptional. We recently dined here for lunch and we had such a pleasant experience. We decided to order two entrees and a sushi roll, just like our last visit. We decided to order their Jazmine Beef and Gravy Chow Fun. For our sushi roll, we decided on the Big Sean Roll. Shortly after putting in our order, our waitress came back to inform us that they ran out of the Jazmine Beef. She asked if we wanted anything else from the menu. The Peking Pork caught my eye as a close second, so I went ahead and ordered that instead. Our waitress then made her way into the kitchen. Not a minute later, both our waitress and chef made their way to our table. The chef apologized that they didn't have Jazmine Beef and offered to prepare us New York Steak with XO Sauce. We both replied with an in sync, "Yes please!" A grin seemed to light up as he made his way back to the chicken. Just as I mentioned on my previous review, you can taste and smell the quality they put in their dishes. Their Gravy Chow Fun is simply pure satisfaction. I love how there's various textures throughout. I love saucy dishes and trust me when I say, there was an abundance of gravy throughout. The New York Steak was cut in cubes and stir fried with green onions and carrot slices. The steak was tender and well seasoned. When biting in this dish, there was a slight crunch, almost as if biting into crisp pieces of garlic. All of the flavors embodied in this dish melded together producing a masterpiece. Lastly, the Big Sean Roll was refreshing as it was a nice contrast compared to our previous oily and saucy (still very tasty and delicious) dishes. The chef came out to check on us and was pleased to hear that we loved everything. When our waitress dropped off our bill, she mentioned that although the New York Steak with XO Sauce costed more than the Jazmine Beef, she charged us for the Jazmine Beef since they didn't have it! Honestly, for us, it was not a problem that they didn't have a dish we wanted on the menu. The chicken had a spice mixture including chilis, garlic, soy sauce and had onions, peppers, mushrooms and more. Really great flavor and made fresh. I disappointedly picked Jazmine takeout for my son's 8 year old birthday so I could bring back the wrong order they made me in a garbage bag. The owner is full of himself and refused to come out because "he was too busy cooking for the other customers" (on a Monday night when the place was empty). He would not take the items off our bill and the whole ordeal took 80 minutes of driving back and forth to get the new orders. We assertively asked for him to no avail. I hate to have to do this, as this USED to be my favorite sushi restaurant, period. Management/Ownership has changed, as have the sushi chefs, and the result is a very mediocre sushi experience. I think the three stars is being nice, probably sentimental, based on 9 years of going here almost weekly. Now, I won't be returning. Reno has impressed me with the restaurants that I have friend this week. Jazmine is no different. I went here for lunch was impressed by the level of service and the speed delivery of our food. The restaurant is designed with warm colors very welcoming. We had the all you can eat lunch which was very affordable. And we ate rolls that were unique to the restaurant and very delicious. I also ordered a seaweed salad and hot tea. By the way, their tea was really good. I think what made this dining experience so good, was their level of service and respect they had. We were in a deep conversation, and they didn't interrupt. They just cleared plates and refilled drinks. I highly recommend a roll called the Bear, sooooo good. Well done Jazmine and staff. Don't know what happened with Jazmine service, but was highly disappointed. Came in on a Saturday night, about 8pm. Checked online to make sure they were open and it said 9pm. Came to the restaurant and the hours on the doors stated 9:30. Right when we walked in, the two ladies didn't seem happy to see us. We were seated and with in a few mins they came for our drink order. But the bartender left since the restaurant was closing. So we ordered Sake instead which was very nice. After that, our food order, which I felt was rushed. After we placed our order. The waitress came by with the check. Because there system closes at 8:30. Upon reviewing the check, they didn't include our togo order. The food it self was ok, but we were being rushed to eat which ruined the whole experience. If management sees this, update your online and door hours. Also, don't hover around while your guest are eating. We ended up packing the rest to go. To go order was for some friends who had it later that evening, stated it was bland. So all in all, Jazmine has gone downhill. What happened? read more
