    69. Hunan Chicken, Shrimp Egg Roll
    Scott H.

I found this little hidden gem just down the street from where I was working on a job. Placed my order through Yelp and my order was confirmed by the restaurant. I showed up when Yelp said it was ready and there it was waiting for me. When I go to place for the first time , I always get Hunan Chicken with steamed rice and and egg roll. I like to see how well they actually cook and not deep fry things. Anybody can deep fry. When I removed the cover from the entree, it smelled delicious! It tasted even better. The steamed rice was perfect; soft but not soggy and sticky and it soaked up the Hunan sauce so well. The chicken was tendu and succulent and melted in my mouth. The veggie medley tasted fresh was was cooked beautifully! Not mushy, but nicely crunchy. The shrimp egg roll was also nicely done with the outside flaky and crunchy and the inside soft and chewy with lots of flavor. I don't give out 5 stars easily, but in the realm of shopping center Chinese food, this was as good as it gets! I'll be back when I'm in the area!

    Vegetable lo mein

I haven't had Chinese food in a long time so I was looking forward to trying this place after reading the reviews. I stopped in to order (as opposed to calling it in) because I couldn't find a current menu online. The lady at the counter seemed pleasant. Impressed she didn't even write down my order. Food came out fast! I waited out in the car and it was probably 7-10min. I went with the Sesame Chicken lunch special, wanton soup and vegetable lo mein. Total was $15 and change. The food was pretty good... surprisingly, I felt like it could use some salt, mainly the pork fried rice. The sesame chicken was what I expected, sweet sticky sauce over crispy fried chicken. The lo mein was a little more (garlicky?) than I am used to but it was still good with fresh crisp veggies. I think my favorite was the wanton soup! It came with a decent number of wantons too! Portions were large. I ate my fill and there is still TONS left for another meal (or two!)

I was a little hesitant to try this one, but luckily my wife forced me to order from there. I'm so glad she did, because the prices are very good and the food is great. I like to order beef dishes, but often the meat is inedible but that's not the case here-every bite is tender not waste! One thing I will say is the egg rolls can be great, or they can be a very thick doughy texture-still a 5 star review though.

General two white meat chicken barley had chicken it was mostly all batter and thin chicken like u would find in the lo men . Waste of money I barley ate it. Shrimp egg roll was excellent and made fresh . Crab Rangoon was very tasty in the inside but the outside was not crispy it was more like soggy.

"Hong Kong No. 1" is a hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant tucked into a back corner of a mini-mall on High House and NC 55 in Cary. This place is small, clean, brightly lit, and decorated with low-cost furniture, and bare minimum decorations. It's too unkind to call it divey, but it certainly embraces authentic spartan decorating styles of mom-and-pop Chinese joints. This is bare bones basic dining, not family dining experience. For example, there are no reusable cutlery and their spoons are exceptionally flimsy and don't expect an steaming mug of jasmine tea here. Cokes are in the fridge. The proprietors speak Cantonese, but their menu is focused on Americanized Chinese food. So come here for Mu Shu Pork, General Tso's Chicken, Egg Fu Young, and Orange Chicken. They advertise that their chicken is organic. And their vegetables are fresh, crisp, and well prepared in a wok. Prices are quite affordable - roughly $5-8/dish and downright cheap for lunchtime meals (oddly priced $5.29, which ends up being $5.79 with tax). They are happy to cater the dishes to your preferences and the female proprietor gleefully yells the order in Cantonese back to what I have to assume is her husband. I asked for no MSG and, contrary to many other places, actually got a meal without MSG. The food quality can be best described as "inoffensive". It is well-cooked, hot, but is bland and flat. And that is a shame. I would actually prefer something that is too oily, too salty, too sugary, too spicy, too something than the meals here - which seemed very "meh". If there was a word of advice that I'd give the cooks, it's get a bit more adventuresome on your flavors - dig the wok spatula a bit deeper into the garlic, sugar, Chinese vinegar, and spices. It's okay to try, but perhaps the worst thing you can be is absolutely forgettable. Best Chinese is still C&T Wok in Morrisville, about 8 minutes away by car.

We were ravenous, but had an intense Chinese food craving, so we ordered Chengdu 7 food from Uber Eats. Food did not disappoint! We ordered sesame chicken, chef special fried rice, chicken fried rice, Mongolian beef*, shrimp fried rice, and everything was delicious! Fan favorites were the Mongolian beef and chicken fried rice, but honestly EVERYTHING was good. And you can tell a lot from a place by how they package your food: food was delivered in tightly seeled packs and labeled! It sounds minor, but is so helpful when you're feed 2 dozen hungry people. All in all, Chengdu 7 you truly made me a fan of you. I will most certainly be returning for more!

The menu seems overly extensive and cumbersome to navigate. The vegetarian spring rolls were flavorless and excessively thick and heavy with grease (didn't finish). The main entree was unpleasantly sour, different from kimchi and without benefits. Sent it back and tried again with basic noodles and chili oil, which proved to be underwhelming. The shining star was the green beans appetizer -- executed perfectly and full of flavor. There are many other authentic places to explore.

I ordered the cold flour noodle with sesame sauce and the shaanxi mutton soak buns. Both were tasty and the cold noodles were refreshing. The employee described the mutton soak buns dish as a soup soaked pancake which is pretty accurate. It reminds me of a rice porridge but with chopped dough instead of rice. The restroom is in the back through the kitchen which is kinda cool because you can see them rolling out all the round flat bread that they use for the dishes. I'm guessing it's what they use for the rougamo (I've seen it at other Chinese restaurants described as a Chinese hamburger) and the shaanxi soak buns. It almost has a gnocchi type of consistency. It isn't your average fried rice and stir fry type of Chinese restaurant so if you're looking for something like that it might not meet your expectations. I would definitely come back to try other menu items. Also, get the plum juice. It's delicious!

They were clearly just handmade, steamed, then finished off with a light panfry. I've never had this particular variety of dumpling before and these were delightful. The accompanying dipping sauce had a bit too much vinegar in it for my taste. Highly recommended. We shared the minced pork and eggplant for an entree. Wow! This was fantastic. The Japanese eggplant was very tender and the finely minced pork perfectly complimented the eggplant. We will definitely order this again. Adding steamed rice to this entree incurs a $1.95 up charge which seems like gouging on a $16.95 dish. Service was friendly and helpful, but not especially attentive or detail oriented. I got the impression that the restauranteurs in charge were highly experienced and showed a level of finesse that most similar restaurants in the area just aren't capable of. Beijing Cafe definitely warrants return visits.

I've had the pleasure of eating some really good dim sum, and while I can admit that the dim sum here will never be as good as places in New York, I can say that they do a decent job and that the experience will be enjoyable for any eater. Rather than delivering dishes on the traditional cart, Dim Sum Asian Bistro uses a menu where you can mark off the dishes that you want. There are a lot of different steamed, fried, and a la carte options that you can choose from. A lot of the basics are done pretty well. They have good pan fried dumplings, shrimp dumplings, shao mai, and coconut pudding. They also have some other, complex dishes that we really enjoy. Their curry powder turnip cake is some of the best out there. The curry flavor pops and the fry is absolutely perfect. Crispy on the outside, but warm and soft on the inside. They also make their chicken feet really well, which is a tough one to do sometimes. I know that there will be some good options. Although Dim Sum Asian Bistro has some good things, they also serve some things that you would just be better off not ordering. They have three different types of rice crepe dishes with meat. Their best is easily the shrimp, and you should stick to that. In fact, I would avoid the beef version at all costs, it is made with a beef paste and the texture was so strange, it was kind of unappetizing! I also think their fried rice could use some work, and I think some items, like their custard buns, could have come from the frozen section. I think my family can be pretty critical about dim sum since it has been a big part of our personal culture. However, sometimes I feel I need to take a step back and look at it broadly. I've come here with some of my friends who don't eat dim sum consistently and they are always wowed by the experience. From that perspective, I can see how this place hits the mark. They serve pretty authentic food and make it taste good. There is always a buzz about the restaurant and people come and go over the weekend. It's no wonder you might have to wait to get a table, Dim Sum Asian Bistro is definitely doing something right!

The quail egg was the heart of it. Got the bone broth this time. While the broth is good, it's not great to the point I'd crave for this. I'm honestly not a big fan of the rice noodles but they went well with the broth. My girl got the noodle dish with the beef tripe, and we also ordered beef tripe for appetizer and milky rice cake for dessert. The beef tripe is one of our favorite appetizers, and it's perfect with Japanese beer. The noodles are a bit spicy but the spice level was adjusted low to my girl's liking. The rice cakes were good but not the best we've tried. It's something we'd order again though. For 2 people, we ended up spending around $50, including tips, so reasonably priced but not as satisfying as a dim sum dinner. | Overall Score: | Overall Score: 4.1/5
