Service was prompt but only adequately friendly. On my weekly lunch outing for work it was suggested to come to Super Wok since it was a sit down restaurant versus take-out only. The restaurant is located in what appears to be a bit of a run-down strip mall that has several food options. The inside has adequate seating with booths and table top options. We ordered Sesame Chicken and Chicken and broccoli (which also had carrots) off the lunch menu and an order of crab rangoons. As stated previously the lunch came with an egg roll, tea, pineapple and salad for 10.95. They serve Szechuan style Asian Cuisine. The food was served on what looked like 1980 style plastic lunch trays With the different compartments(see photo). I would return there but wouldn't go out of my way to eat there. First time visiting North Carolina and was there for work. Most restaurants were closed after 9 and the sushi restaurant we went to stopped serving food 40 minutes before closing stating that "nobody wants to work and the cooks left." I'm from Los Angeles so I really didn't want to go to eat Chinese food with an average rating, but there was no other option. My coworkers ate family style and overall it hit the spot. It could have been better, like their sprout vegetables were old and tougher than what I like, but it was more authentic than what I expected... so I appreciated that. Ordered takeout via UberEats and have to say really impressed! The salt and pepper ribs were probably my favorite as seen by the half eaten bowl before I remembered to take a photo (oops!) the spicy chicken was also flavorful but the trick with this and any fried item is to toss in the air fryer as soon as you receive it that way you can eat it crispy. The string beans were a little average but if you are Chinese like me they are a staple and pretty much the go-to vegetable I get for takeout because hard to mess up. The cold spicy beef tendon was very meaty which was good. It's always a little bit of a surprise how restaurants do the spicy beef and if there is a lot of beef, tendon or tripe, this one was all beef very little tripe. ALSO forgot to take a photo of my egg roll which was delicious 10/10 For the RTP/ Cary area this is probably one or two on my list now! This is not a 3 star restaurant! Super Wok although a bit pricier is exceptional for Szechwan. Highly recommend the pork with preserved pickled vegetables, the snow pea tips are divine, the beef with Chinese mushrooms, and the smoked tofu with shredded pork (we have them jalapeños). Egg drop is often uncommonly good here as well. Like most Chinese restaurants, Sundays and Mondays don't seem to be their best chefs but in general this is highly acclaimed restaurant. read more

Normally I wait a day or so before reviewing a restaurant, but not today! I ordered from Super Wok based solely on ratings. I was not disappointed by my fellow Yelpers! I ordered the Hunan Chicken lunch bento. Not as spicy as I wanted even though I requested it in the comments box. Never fear though as I usually get 3-4 hot sauce packets just in case. Now this bento thing is really cool. All in one container, you get your entree and rice choice, along with a small spring roll, salad with ginger dressing and some fruit! Mind blown! What a concept! Many others do the entree and rice and that's it! Super Wok does it right! Yeah the place is a bit dive-ish, but they have a lot of seating given the size of the place. I really love Super Wok! I am always wary of mystery meat places in local strip malls, but Super Work is high quality with HUGE portions and amazing flavors. FYI, I've only gotten takeout. Here is a rundown: -Sesame chicken: delicious, flavorful with tons of fresh, crisp broccoli. A little dry but oh well. -Crab rangoons: actually taste like crab, bursting with cream cheese and flavor and served with a boat of sweet and sour sauce. -Scallion pancake: very very oily and mine was missing the scallions lol. I think this must have been a weird mistake! Portions are HUGE HUGE, you can certainly share between two adults or have a full meal the next day. Yikes,brought it home with great anticipation and it was horrible.The shrimp look like it was already chewed and there were shrimp tails,as well,the rangoon was soggy and different shapes and had a funny taste,Did not eat what I paid for,it was such poor quality.I had been there years ago and it was good,but today I am afraid I will get sick from what I did eat. We were hesitant due to the 3.5 star rating but this was the only place among others we'd wanted to try (Nice Bowls, C&T Wok) that was open for lunch at 3.30pm on a Tuesday. We're so glad we tried it! We ordered everything with less salt and less oil and it was perfect for me though my husband would've been fine with the usual salt and oil (that's what makes it Sichuan food he says). Dan Dan noodles - 5 stars I finally know what this is supposed to taste like! Having tried recipes out at home since buying some sesame paste, I found my own to have too strong of a sesame flavour. This, on the other hand, has really good umami from the pickled vegetables (ya mi sui cai I think) with just a touch of the sesame flavour. So good! The stuffing wasn't very flavorful even though there's sauce to add. Wouldn't order this again. Mala xiang guo, 小辣/small spice - 4.5 stars They gave us so many ingredients! Ample beef, squid and prawns. I personally don't eat much meat and wish there were more vegetables. The lotus root was deliciously crisp and there was a smattering of potatoes and bok choy. The flavouring was spot on. I did think the beef had too much meat tenderiser though. I'd try to get this with much more vegetables if I got it again since I'm used to all vegetable mala xiang guo pots in Singapore. Not a fan of the meats. I think I could've handled 中辣 medium spice. Fresh, Delicious and Low Key!!! This Chinese place is a drive from downtown Raleigh. About 15 mins and in Cary. For me, it is worth Uber Eats or pick-up. A stones throw from Patel Brothers who do shopping for Indian Grocery. The customers are definitely more native. Food is extremely fresh. Taste is as good as any Chinese in NY or Bay Area. There's nothing like the taste bud tingles that Sichuan chinese food generally gives you. But I gotta admit, I sometimes find it a bit oily and overwhelming at times. Enter in, Super Wok! An unassuming little Chinese restaurant in the midst of Cary's Little India, go figure... While Super Wok looks a bit grungy on the outside, inside it's simple and clean. We ordered up cold sichuan (dan dan) noodles, a pea shoots with garlic dish, and I added on a fried fish fillet in spicy sichuan sauce. The food comes out lickety-split, it couldn't have been much more than five minutes! The cold noodles appetizer was a nice-sized bowl of soft wheat noodles tossed with minced meat, a very nice opening dish. The star of the meal was the well-Yelped about pea shoots! A large, plate of sauteed, tender greens with a light garlic sauce, yummers! And my plate of Sichuan spicy fish was bathed in a slightly sweet-sour, vinegary sauce with some peppery bite, excellent! Overall I liked the food better at Super Wok than I did at 35 Restaurant, it seems closer to what my mom might cook. Maybe it was the dishes I picked but Super Wok seems to use a lighter hand when it comes to oil and the pungent Sichuan spices. I can't even begin to tell you how incredible this place is. I wanted to order nearly everything on the menu but I ultimately settled for the Tri Pepper Chicken lunch bento and a wonton soup. The flavors, the textures, everything was perfectly spot on. This is unlike your typical Food Lion Chinese food that you'd typically find around NC. This place is doing it right and doing it well. Everything looked and tasted like it was made fresh to order. Portions were great, even for lunch. Best Chinese food in the Triangle area. My favorites are the Three Pepper Chicken and Eggplant in Spicy Garlic Sauce (which is not as spicy as the three pepper chicken). The three pepper chicken is packed with peppers and is definitely not for the timid. However, if you like spicy, this is definitely the dish for you. The chicken is well-cooked and well-seasoned as well. The eggplant have exceptional texture and flavor as well - nice and soft, but firm enough to hold its own, and a great mix of spicy and garlicky. Other solid selections are the Twice-cooked pork and Beef with Basil. Twice-cooked pork is nice and fatty - definitely not for the health-conscious - but incredibly tasty (as you can imagine). I'm a fan of the texture of the pork as well, with a good mix of tender and chewy. The beef with basil is exactly what the name describes it as. If your a fan of both, it's not a bad choice. The dishes are admittedly a bit heavy (compared to home-cooked meals, which let up a little on the oil), but the flavors are spot on, especially if you like spicy foods. The wait staff is very nice and accommodating, and the place has a nice homey feel to it. But if you're in the Raleigh / Cary area and want some good authentic Chinese food, this is where you can get it. read more

Driving by this place we decided not to stop. Our Mistake. We ended up at Neo Asia for a very disappointing meal. I was at AT&T in Cary around lunch time. I thought of Super Wok for take out. I did stop by and the Inside was much better than it looks from the outside. I ordered 3 Pepper Chicken. To my surprise it came out in 10 minutes. That was pretty fast ! I got in my car and headed home thinking. wow that place is nicer than we thought. The interior is very clean and bright. Well, I can not wait to try out the food. I took my first bite and Kazam ! This is what I remember what Sichuan Cooking tastes like. Hot but very good. I had enough food for 3 meals. Excellent service and the food tastes great, I can not wait to go back. One of the three best Sichuan restaurants in this area - China Place in Durham & Gourmet Kingdom in Carrboro are the other two. Like so many ethnic restaurants in the Triangle. it is a small place, located in a strip shopping center. There are several other restaurants in this elongated center, and a very good Indian grocery store just above on Maynard. The Sichuan-style Spicy Noodles (Dan-Dan Noodles) are absolutely like eating strands of lightening, and the meat is richly flavored ground pork, as it should be. This is a good sized appetizer. The Squid In Chili Oil is very good - it is a cold appetizer, and cold squid is not for everyone. But try it, you'll like it. The Stir-Fried Chicken with 3 Peppers is excellent, and has all the heat you might want, and they will adjust the heat as you request. Most of their hot dishes, are indeed hot. The Mongolian Beef & the Black Pepper Beef are worth note, as is the Kung Pao Chicken - which is prepared as it should be, with just chicken, red peppers, peanuts, and a little sauce. I don't understand why most Chinese restaurants insist on loading this dish with vegetables that do not belong. OK, more curmudgeon points. The Fried Fish Cut Like A Squirrel's Tail is an interesting dish, and pretty to look at, but it comes in a sweet & sour sauce, and is definitely not hot. The Whole Fish In Sichuan Sauce is a better choice for a true sichuan style dish. If heat is what you like, you'll find it here. Service is generally good, kitchen can be a tad slow. read more

If my haircut took faster than the time that II had to wait for my food...there's a problem. I stopped in for lunch because I saw photos of the lunch bento box on Yelp. Please do not let the photos fool you. Whenever you're craving for a bento box, I understand how tempting it is for a quick lunch. I ordered the dumplings in chili oil as an appetizer and the spicy fish fillets for my bento box. The chili oil dumplings made me feel sick. After taking the first bite, the dough was tough around the edges and ​it tasted a little funky. After eating the 3rd one, I realized that the meat (pork) didn't taste like it was fully cooked. As a cook myself, I can taste when something is not fully cooked. As for the lunch special bento box, the price is cheap but it didn't taste that good. After a 30-minute weight, it finally came out. It was not worth the wait. The gender dressing salad was watered down to the point where I could see water on the bottom of the salad. The egg roll was tasteless and cold. The fish was oily and damp. The rice didn't taste fresh. Another place with quantity over quality. I​ was also not to impress with customer service as well. Thank goodness I read that the lunch special came with a sweet tea. a really nice, authentic chinese restaurant in a quiet part of raleigh! there's so many options on the menu that you really have to take a while to decide what you want and it all sounds so yummy! my first visit was with my boyfriend and we shared three dishes: griddle chicken, scallion oil fish, & string beans with minced pork and it came with a large amount of rice. my favorite vegetable is string beans and i loved the way they cooked it because it reminded me of my own family's cooking. each dish had so many flavors and it complimented all together! our second visit, we ordered spicy fish with soft tofu, griddle chicken and silk melon with egg; which definitely gave a different aroma and taste. overall, given how authentic the whole restaurant was and how hard working and accommodating the workers are, i really enjoyed every part of this restaurant! coming from a family who used to own a chinese restaurant, i totally understand what it looks like to be the only server/waitress and being so composed even when it gets busy. i'll definitely be back to try other amazing dishes! read more

My second time here but I haven't reviewed this place yet so here it is. The place is quite small on the inside. There were plenty of Chinese people dining when I walked in so you know its legit! We ordered Beef & Pork Tripe (Fu qi fe pian), Sour Shredded Potatoes (tu dou si), and Twice Cooked Beef. The beef & pork tripe was excellent! It had the right amount of numbing spiciness to it. The sour shredded potatoes really took me back to when I visited China last year. It was all I can ask for in that dish. The potatoes were thinly shredded along with scallions and green peppers (the spicy kind). My buddy who was with me never had it and he said that was his favorite dish out of all three. The twice cooked beef was also very delicious. My only wish was that they included more beef and less jalapeños. From the picture, you can see that the jalapeños outnumber the beef by a lot. This is my go-to spot in the area for some authentic szechuan cuisine. I wrote about how I didn't think C&T wok in morrisville really did szechuan food justice, but super wok does not disappoint. We always order the tri-pepper chicken, the mapo tofu, and the dumplings in chili oil. Fair warning though: tri-pepper chicken is killer spicy. This is not a joke. But the flavor is spot-on. You can just smell the szechuan peppercorns and it'll make you sweat already. I also tried to dan dan noodles here one time and I am definitely going to order that again. Flavorful and large portions here! The mapo tofu here is so much better than what I've tried elsewhere (save for gourmet kingdom in carrboro). This is very very authentic food, evident by all the Chinese folks that eat here. Great little place in Cary. May not look like much from the outside, but you'll thank me after you try it. read more

Chatham Square has such a nice variety of quality restaurants, but unfortunately the exteriors and interiors aren't all that impressive. Super Wok suffers from small signage and a building that's below grade, as well as a cramped interior with only about 12 tables. But, if you can make it past the cheap looks, the food really is pretty good. My husband ordered a hot and sour soup to start, and I got the eggdrop soup. We also ordered some spring rolls to share. I suspect the soups weren't made to order, as they came out within about minute. But I don't mind too much, soup tastes pretty much the same whether it's fresh or been sitting in a heated pan for an hour. My husband's soup was really good. He always leaves the tofu and mushrooms for me at the end. It had a really good, spicy, rich flavor to it, and I loved the mushrooms. My own eggdrop soup was pretty bland. I used a lot of the soy sauce and crunchy noodles to try and salvage it. But at $1.75 and $2.50, they were good sized servings and cheap enough to try once. I'd probably just let my husband order his hot and sour soup and get his leftovers next time. The spring rolls were pretty greasy and they seemed just spiced with pepper. Again, I wasn't all that impressed and would probably order one of the dumplings next time, but at $2.50 for 2, it's a place you can afford to do trial and error over time til you find the dishes that work for you. For the entrees I ordered the crispy tofu, and my husband ordered the orange beef. I was really considering the "Tri pepper tofu", but with 2 peppers (the highest they go) I thought it could be too spicy for me. The crispy tofu ended up being really flavorful, and at one 1 pepper rating, it was pretty tolerable for me. I think maybe next time I could probably try something with 2 peppers. The broccoli around the rim of the plate was steamed separately from rest of the dish, so it's quite unflavorful unless you cover it with the tofu's sauce. It also wasn't nearly as hot, temperature-wise, as the rest of the dish, so eat it quickly if you plan to eat it. The crispy tofu came with a small dish of rice that perhaps a little meager. I ended up with about half the tofu as leftovers, but I have some more rice at home to make up with it, so I'll have that as leftovers on Monday. My husband was really impressed with his orange beef. He said it was the best Chinese dish he's had in this area so far. He ate his whole entree, leaving the broccoli for me. I had some of the beef, and it was really crispy and tender. Though it was sliced into rather large slices, you could easily cut it with the side of your fork. The service was very attentive the whole time we were there, and I thought we really had a good experience there. The appetizers I had ordered were not spectacular, but at the cheap prices I'm not too disappointed. I'll just try some different appetizers next time. I'll probably order a set of dumplings and Tom Kha soup when we visit again. Maybe I'll even get the courage to try the "2 pepper" entrees! read more

We visited Super Wok for the first time last night, and I really enjoyed it. We each got different appetizers and different entrees, and enjoyed sharing. Our server was very helpful in answering our questions about menu items. I enjoyed my Stir Fry Pea Tips entree a lot. My favorite appetizer at our table was the cold noodles with peanut sauce, though the spring rolls and fried eggplant appetizers were good as well.
