Crab Rangoon (6)

Honest Opinion I ordered the chicken fried rice and crab rangoons. The wait time for delivery was about 40 mins, which is expected for the traditional "cook to order" time for most good Chinese food restaurants. I never mind waiting, because this is usually a good sign that your food will be cooked properly and arrive hot :) However upon arrival, it wasn't the best. It came in the standard stapled brown paper bag, inside of another plastic bag for security and wasn't ripped or damaged, so for food saftey and package delivery security I give it a 5. The small Chicken and Rice comes in pint containers, red sauce in the styrofoam cup with lid, and crab rangoons in their traditional paper baggies, like usual. It didn't have a bad smell or anything, so I don't think it was spoiled in anyway, but it was cold, like it had been sitting for awhile. Even with delievery time, I've never received Chinese Food completely cold, it's usually pretty warm if not hot because their containers are usually packed tight and keep heat well for just a short drive. The crab rangoons were not hot or cripsy. They needed reheating in an air fryer. From the wonton wrapper, they seemed to be made earlier in the day, and when you broke them open the crab-cheese filling was cold, no heat or steam, like they usually have when hot. The edges were tough. The chicken fried rice lacked flavor, there were no scallions, egg, carrots, peas, pepper, garlic, ginger or black pepper. Only rice, chicken, and very small amounts of onions & bean sprouts. There was a decent amount of chicken. Photos are attached. I was very surprised as chinese rice is always well seasoned. It was cold and very bland, but the texture was good, fluffy and made well, so if you don't want it to go to waste, you can throw it back in a buttered skillet or frying pan, add all the seasonings and egg if you have them on hand, and reheat it on low heat. Maybe the lack of ingredients is due to the price of food increasing? If so, I understand. Overall, I think if more seasonings and good food prep timing is incorporated the food could be awesome! For the management, I hope this review is received warmly and only brings improvement. Running a business is tough sometimes, and I applaud you for keeping your doors open during turbulent times! I'll try again in 6 months to see if anything has changed, and update my review if so. Respectfully- 对于管理层,我希望这次审查得到热烈欢迎,并且只会带来改进。经营企业有时很艰难,我为您在动荡时期保持敞开大门而鼓掌! 再次感谢我祝你继续成功和进步

C2. Shrimp Chow Mein Combo Plate

Chow mein is made with ONLY cabbage here, No noodles. Had to drive back to get a replacement. Manager insisted that's what Chow mein is supposed to be. Other dishes are hit or miss. Fried wantons are flavorless, but crab rangoon not bad. Chicken usually good; plump and not stringy. We ordered general tsos chicken and extra spicy but it wasn't spicy at all so that option on the restaurant's website didn't work.

This is a late posting, sorry. Lots going on in my world but I felt it needed a review. This meal I ordered was for a few days because of work so don't judge lol ...here goes. Hot and sour soup...awesome! Just the right amount of spice and heat. Not too much tofu but just the right amount. Teriyaki chicken on a stick I was sadly, SADLY disappointed. This is the reason I look for Chinese places. These things looked like they were on a diet. Taste wise they were good but I wouldn't order again. Spring roll...I make them better in my sleep. Sorry guys. Nope, won't spend the money on these again either. On to the good news... moo sho chicken, although it didn't look good, it was probably the best I've had! I ate it plan (without the pancakes). The meal lasted me several meals so I was very happy. Really worth getting! Delivery was incredibly fast but...they didn't put any utensils in the bag, lots of condiments which I appreciated but no chopsticks or napkins. All in all I would order from here again, read the reviews and try other things out.

Green S21. Thai Curry Chicken

This was the worst food I have EVER seen or tasted. We ordered spicy green curry and it smelled like dirty socks and looked like it was colored green with food coloring. The crab rangoon was really tough and tasted old. The garlic pepper dumplings were awful and so hard and chewy you couldn't even eat it.

Our whole order was awful. Either bland and tasteless or way too spicy. Don't waste your money at this place, the food is inedible.

We enjoyed so many different dishes - hot and sour soup, scallion pancakes, egg rolls, hand pulled noodles with beef, kung Pao chicken, cumin beef, beef with vegetables, crag rangoon, and pork dumplings. Every dish was wonderful. And for anyone who has not tried the hand pulled noodles here you really must try them - they are a highlight of a meal - incredibly delicious with a wonderful texture. The flow of food to our table was great, not too fast or rushed and not too slow. Our waitress was wonderful and ensured that our group had everything that we needed to enjoy our meal. We really wanted a good Asian meal, and not typical takeout, so we got on the Yelp app while traveling through Raleigh, and found this place not too far of our route in Cary. It's in an international themed shopping center a bit off the main drag, and honestly, the vibes hit us just right from the moment we got out of the car. You walk in and you can see the cooks at work to the left, the restaurant is bright with lots of blue and a large mural to the right. We got immediate service, the menu is large and daunting. There is anything here from more typical Chinese American cuisine, all the way into more esoteric options for the experienced eater. We ordered a bit of both, starting with some simple steam pork dumplings, beef lo mein, and an order of hot pot pepper chicken. Everything came out mostly together, with the hot pot chicken served in a wok, keeping things steaming. Everything tasted and looked exceptional. The dumplings were a lovely texture, with plenty of meat filling the pockets. Beef lo mein was a top notch versioin of the takeout classic, with a tangy flavor and a good amount of meat. All that said, the hot pot pepper chicken absolutely stole the show! This was a robust dish, plenty here for a meal plus leftovers first off, but beyond the perfectly crispy outside and tender inside chicken pieces, we really got into the sliced cauliflower and veggie mixture. Over a bit of rice, this is a dish we won't be able to resist again, not that the others weren't an easy re-order as well. This spot will be on our minds everytime we head into or through this area from now on. Thanks for making it a top notch road stop Chengdu 7!

Our meal started with a scallion pancake. It was very good, with just the right amount of scallion flavor but was a tiny bit too dense. Next we tried the pan-fried pork and celery dumplings. They were clearly just handmade, steamed, then finished off with a light panfry. I've never had this particular variety of dumpling before and these were delightful. The accompanying dipping sauce had a bit too much vinegar in it for my taste. Highly recommended. We shared the minced pork and eggplant for an entree. Wow! This was fantastic. The Japanese eggplant was very tender and the finely minced pork perfectly complimented the eggplant. We will definitely order this again. Adding steamed rice to this entree incurs a $1.95 up charge which seems like gouging on a $16.95 dish. Service was friendly and helpful, but not especially attentive or detail oriented. I got the impression that the restauranteurs in charge were highly experienced and showed a level of finesse that most similar restaurants in the area just aren't capable of. Beijing Cafe definitely warrants return visits.

We kicked things off with the hot & sour soup and Szechuan cold noodles--both excellent. The soup had that perfect balance of tangy heat without going overboard, and the cold noodles brought a nice punch of spice and sesame that woke up the palate. For mains, we went with the beef chow fun and salt & pepper squid. The chow fun had that slightly smoky, charred flavor you want with tender beef and well-seasoned noodles that weren't greasy. The squid was crispy, lightly battered, and tossed with just the right amount of salt, pepper, and aromatics--super addictive. Every dish hit. No misses, no filler--just solid, satisfying Chinese food done right. It's always a good sign when a place still delivers years later, and Taipei 101 definitely does.
