We had our first experience with Lucky 7 last night and it was very flavorful! Ordering was easy and you can customize brown rice or all white meat if you have chicken which I thought was nice. It all tasted fresh and hit the spot for a rainy Friday night. We had takeout and the containers were perfect, no drippage or spillage which I like. We ordered edamame and I thought the servings were generous and the prices were reasonable. The sesame chicken was good, lots of sauce, about 6-8 pieces of broccoli but hey it is called, "Sesame CHICKEN", ammiright? The Shrimp Pad Thai uses small shrimp and I prefer the larger shrimp but it all tasted delish. I have tried to make Pad Thai and am glad to leave it to the experts, which Lucky 7 clearly is...;). Honest Opinion I ordered the chicken fried rice and crab rangoons. The wait time for delivery was about 40 mins, which is expected for the traditional "cook to order" time for most good Chinese food restaurants. I never mind waiting, because this is usually a good sign that your food will be cooked properly and arrive hot :) However upon arrival, it wasn't the best. It came in the standard stapled brown paper bag, inside of another plastic bag for security and wasn't ripped or damaged, so for food saftey and package delivery security I give it a 5. The small Chicken and Rice comes in pint containers, red sauce in the styrofoam cup with lid, and crab rangoons in their traditional paper baggies, like usual. It didn't have a bad smell or anything, so I don't think it was spoiled in anyway, but it was cold, like it had been sitting for awhile. Even with delievery time, I've never received Chinese Food completely cold, it's usually pretty warm if not hot because their containers are usually packed tight and keep heat well for just a short drive. The crab rangoons were not hot or cripsy. They needed reheating in an air fryer. From the wonton wrapper, they seemed to be made earlier in the day, and when you broke them open the crab-cheese filling was cold, no heat or steam, like they usually have when hot. The edges were tough. The chicken fried rice lacked flavor, there were no scallions, egg, carrots, peas, pepper, garlic, ginger or black pepper. Only rice, chicken, and very small amounts of onions & bean sprouts. There was a decent amount of chicken. Photos are attached. I was very surprised as chinese rice is always well seasoned. It was cold and very bland, but the texture was good, fluffy and made well, so if you don't want it to go to waste, you can throw it back in a buttered skillet or frying pan, add all the seasonings and egg if you have them on hand, and reheat it on low heat. Maybe the lack of ingredients is due to the price of food increasing? If so, I understand. Overall, I think if more seasonings and good food prep timing is incorporated the food could be awesome! For the management, I hope this review is received warmly and only brings improvement. Running a business is tough sometimes, and I applaud you for keeping your doors open during turbulent times! My number Asian food take out restaurant.. they have the best egg rolls ever (Which I end up eating on the drive back home as they are super hot, crunchy and irresistible) the combo plates are great .. I've tried their Hunan chicken, general tso and kungpao chicken served with choice of white/ fried rice .. Hot and sour soup...awesome! Just the right amount of spice and heat. Not too much tofu but just the right amount. Teriyaki chicken on a stick I was sadly, SADLY disappointed. This is the reason I look for Chinese places. These things looked like they were on a diet. Taste wise they were good but I wouldn't order again. Spring roll...I make them better in my sleep. Sorry guys. Nope, won't spend the money on these again either. On to the good news... moo sho chicken, although it didn't look good, it was probably the best I've had! I ate it plan (without the pancakes). The meal lasted me several meals so I was very happy. Really worth getting! This was the worst food I have EVER seen or tasted. We ordered spicy green curry and it smelled like dirty socks and looked like it was colored green with food coloring. Not awful, but not the best by any means. The employees are very friendly and service was prompt. I got shrimp with broccoli and fried rice. The fried rice was super soy saucy and salty. I barely ate any of it because it was just so distasteful. The shrimp and broccoli were cooked well, but again, drowning in sauce which is just a huge turnoff for me. The boo ordered the General Tso combo with chicken fried rice. He said it was good, but I could tell he was underwhelmed. He later shared that the fried rice was a let down, bland like plain brown rice with a few pieces of chicken added to it. I ordered the 4 piece chicken wings (plain), small beef with broccoli and chicken egg foo young. Low carb and plenty for leftovers! The wings were pretty standard. The egg foo young was GOOD. Not soggy, but fluffy, moist and flavorful. The beef with broccoli was GOOD as well. Excellent beef to broccoli ratio and quite flavorful. Great menu, service, and food. We have ordered from Lucky 7 numerous times and always receive the correct order in a timely manner. The only thing I would recommend improving is adding item descriptions. A few of their menu items we did not recognize and looked up on google before ordering, they tasted great but did not match the online descriptions. It would be helpful if Lucky 7 had their own item descriptions (at least on their online menu) to assist customers in identifying what comprises each menu item and how it is cooked. read more

I and my husband order from this place every so often, because it's one of only two Chinese places in the Containment Area that deliver (the other one being Orient Garden, which is in the same stripmall--which, contrary to what a previous reviewer said, is not fancy but is far from "seedy-looking" I mean, really. It's Cary. "Seedy" is forbidden by law here). The food is actually pretty damn good, but oy the portions! There's a pretty ridiculous amount of food that they give you, which at least makes it good for leftovers the next day. Pay once, eat for three days! The Lo Mein, which can be gummy if it's not done right, is excellent. The noodles separate like they should when you try to pick them up with your chopsticks, and there's a nice mix of veg and proteins. My personal favourite is the Dragon and Phoenix, but my husband likes the General Tso's Chicken (which I find a little too sweet for me). The only thing that's kinda "eh" here, of the things I've had, is the fried rice. For some reason it just doesn't taste very good and it's underdone. After being pleased with Neo-China, which is relatively close to my house, we decided to try the closest Chinese restaurant to us - Lucky 7. In a seedy-looking strip mall, is this unassuming place. Granted, I did not actually go in, as I placed the order and hubby picked it up, but I have seen it from the outside a dozen times. I ordered (without a menu), the sesame chicken with rice, two egg rolls and beef lo mein. Holy chicken! There was seriously about two pounds of sesame chicken. Looking at the menu once the food got to my house, I noticed it was one of their "specialties," so even though I requested a pint, they didn't offer that. It was crunchy, gooey and sesame-y. I really enjoyed it. Sesame chicken can be so hit or miss, but I couldn't get enough of their version. I sampled my husband's beef lo mein and it was really good. He made the point that it all seemed very "clean," and not greasy. The egg rolls were spot on and the rice was cooked to perfection. All this for about $17, and they deliver. I love that they deliver. The prices are great considering how much food you get. The food is tasty, but I have a serious problem with how stingy they seem to be with certain ingredients. I got cashew chicken. It was more like a TON of celery with a bit of rice, chicken, zucchini, and a few cashews. I don't mind a little celery, but I ended up having two or three chunks of celery in every single bite, and it just became off-putting. I picked out all the celery and there was a huge heap of more than 50 pieces on my plate. The rest of the dish was great once the celery was taken out though. It seems like they bulked up the dish with a bunch of celery, and didn't add a lot of chicken and cashews since that's more expensive. The rice was good, but they seemed to be skimpy on the extra ingredients as well. The fried rice had onions and maybe some egg, and that's it. Every time I've gotten fried rice anywhere, EVER, they've at least added peas and carrots. It seems like this place really tries to cut corners to make the food as cheaply as possible. The delivery was very fast. I think I'll give it one more shot, but if the next meal isn't up to par I'll be finding another Chinese delivery place. read more

I'll start with the positives. They have THE BEST crab rangoon I've ever had...and that's saying a lot! Also, they have brown rice, which is nice. Very frequently, I just order crab rangoon to go along with whatever I'm making for dinner that night or as a little snack. If I do order a whole meal, I get sesame chicken, which is pretty good, but sometimes has a bit too much sauce on it. Less positive... When you call in for a phone order, it is nearly impossible to understand the girl who usually answers. You have to just know to start talking. But mainly, my biggest issue is the price of certain things. One time, I decided to have a relatively "healthy" meal...I already had chicken at home, but had no time/desire to go to the store for veggies or cook my own rice, so I called to get some brown rice, broccoli, and crab rangoon (yeah, I know that's not healthy but I can't come here and not get that!). JUST those things cost OVER $10. When I asked why, she said the cup of broccoli alone was over $5...what the heck?? One other minor annoyance is that they don't have air conditioning...so when you go in, it's a burst of hot air with fans blowing. The food was hot, fresh, and tasty, and the delivery was pretty fast. We had a bit of a carb-fest with combination lo mein, egg & scallion fried rice, sesame chicken, and steamed dumplings. The lo mein was very flavorful, but the tiny shrimp are a turn-off. The sesame chicken was crispy and hot, but could have had a bit more heat to the flavor. The fried rice was hot, but was likely pre-made and sitting in a larger hot dish on display - It was not made fresh, yet was still tasty. Dumplings were flavorful and hot. Was actually headed next door, to La Shish, which was closed. Had heard good things about Lucky 7, so figured what the heck. My friend and I had lunch specials. I chose Thai basil sauce with shrimp and brown rice. The only good thing to say about the lunch was that there were 5 large, meaty shrimp. Sauce had no flavor, and the portion was smaller than most Chinese take-away places. My friend complained that her fried rice had no egg, peas, carrots or anything else mixed in. Lucky seven extorted me. I ordered from lucky seven for the first time online today. I was eagwr to try some good food and heard good things about this place. As I was checking out I realized the driver had to drive 15 miles. (I live by wake tech). So I placed an 18% tip on my card. It was only a $25 order. When I went to check out there was a notice. Because I lived so far, they were adding an additional $3.99 on the delivery fee. It was $3 and some change. Now that made it around $7.50. So I went back and put a tip of 13%. Figuring that another four dollars is good enough. Wrong. They called my phone and demanded I leave a larger tip. Leaving me three voicemail threatening to not give me the food that I had already paid for. Saying that they won't deliver until I add a larger tip. I was bewildered and politely explained that I added a tip of 13%. The lady working the phone told me that I'd left a tip of $1.30. I told her that I must have out the percentage in the wrong part. I offered to correct the mistake. And leave a tip of $5. The lady informed me that because I lived father away, I needed to leave a larger tip. "Notmaly it takes 40 minute to drive that far. No driver will do that for $5. If you leave $5 it might take us twice as long." Here I was being extorted over my take out order. I'm ashamed to say that I gave in. I just moved here and I'm trying all the local delivery places, this is number 4 and the worst yet. The Pad Thai wasn't even Pad Thai, more like a neon red sauce with just chicken and nuts on top. Not the correct dish at all, favor (hardly any) was all wrong. Almost like they put sweat and sour over egg noodles and added chicken on top.
