I got two egg rolls, an order of crab rangoons, happy family, general tsos chicken, fried rice and lo mein. The crab rangoons were my favorite!! Very full, didn't slump out on the filling. The general Taos was actually spicy. The vegetables were perfectly mixed. I hate when they give mostly broccoli. The fried rice was just okay. I'd probably get a different variety for an up charge next time. GOOD Chinese food is so hard to come by BUT this place definitely expanded my expectations! I've tried a few Chinese restaurants over the years and Jumbo China is one of my favorites. It's more a carry out than a dine in, but they have plenty of seating if you want to dine in. Their egg rolls are the best anywhere, their wonton soup is amazing as are many of their appetizers. I really like their shrimp and broccoli, the shrimp are huge, but they don't give you many. They up-charged me for garlic sauce on the side. No complaints from me, I can't eat the brown sauce due to the MSG. Happy to pay a little extra. They sent it me with brown sauce on it. We've only ever ordered take-out, but it's always ready quick, hot, and you definitely get your money's worth. Vegetables have always had a good crunch and taste fresh (I hate mushy broccoli). I also ordered a large iced tea and they put it in a large soup container and it wasn't just tea - I have no clue what was in it and it looked like a large container of pee. I used to live in the development directly behind Jumbo China. It is your typical Chinese takeout place. It's cheap and fulfills a craving when your pressed for time but really want some Chinese food. Although I only grab takeout in the evenings, they do offer some lunch specials. Seems to be well supported by Wakefield H.S. students during lunchtime as well as a large number of construction workers (you know... back when people actually used to build houses) Regarding the food, I've sampled most of the menu (as even though I have moved, it is still one of the closest Chinese places to me) and to be honest there really nothing on the menu to recommend... nor is there anything to warn you away from. Like I said... it is what it is, decent Chinese food when you don't feel like cooking or are in a hurry. If half stars were allowed, I'd give it 2.5 stars. My decision to round down was based on a bad experience where it sure seemed like our vegetable lo mein ... was actually ash tray lo mein (I am definitely not suggesting they were smoking in the kitchen...even if it tasted like it). The rest of that order was completely fine, but that really was disgusting. That only happened one time out of many orders, so don't take that as a recommendation to stay away (this place is better than the other Chinese takeout place in Wakefeld) but still that was gross. read more

Here are my cons: 1) I ordered take out- fried chicken wings and pork fried rice and sweet and sour chicken. The rice was hard including the peas and other vegetables they mixed in with the rice, as though it wasn't thoroughly cooked. 2) Both the chicken wings and the sweet and sour chicken was very bland in taste. First impressions are everything and I wasn't impressed by the food at all, but I'll probably give this place a second chance if I'm ever in the area- I'll just point out to them to ensure that the rice and veggies are cooked well. read more

The food has been better than most other Chinese restaurants. I do a door dash delivery and usually get hot & sour soup with chicken with garlic sauce. Dumpling are also very good as are the cold noodles with sesame sauce. Sesame chicken could be a bit softer but good egg foo young makes up for it. Boneless spare ribs are great on there own. My go to Chinese takeout. The rangoons, spring rolls, lo mein, beef and broccoli, sesame chicken and sweet and sour never fail me. Orders are always accurate. I have never eaten in the restaurant so I can't comment on service or staff, but I am very impressed with the delivery via DoorDash. Always fast and accurate.
