Disappointed. My wife and I ordered takeout Combo dinners from RK last night. I ordered Shrimp-Broccoli in Garlic Sauce and was very disappointed. My dinner only three shrimp! I'd think for a Chinese dinner meal you'd have at least five. They were not huge shrimp either! My wife had a nearly meal but with chicken. It was good, plenty of chicken and vegetables. Their egg rolls are included with the combo and were good too. Our food order was ready when we got there, about 15 minutes. Aside from the lack of shrimp, it was all a good typical Chinese food experience. We will likely order elsewhere but didn't have many options for Chinese food on a Monday night. Pretty good, nothing special. We ordered beef and broccoli and vegetable lomein. Service was nice and quick though. Inside is your typical Chinese spot, centered around take out, not a lot of space to eat if you wanted to. I'd go back, they are the closest to me and food was hot and decent. I will never forget my first time stepping into Rainbow King and seeing a small child take my order. Here it is 4 years later and the same child continues to take my order. Don't let her age fool you, she knows what she's doing. I've lived in Wake Forest for almost 4 years and this is my go-to Chinese Food place! Luckily, I just happen to live less than a mile away from it. I always get chicken and broccoli, steamed dumplings and chicken on a stick. It is the best! I've tried others in the area and they pale in comparison. In the 4 years that I've been going ( 1 to 2 times per month on average) they have made 1 mistake and more than made up for it! They have a pretty decent sanitation grade (currently 97) although it has been higher in the past. We did not have a good experience here - we were hopeful based on how professional they were on the phone and our food being ready when we arrived...but, huge disappointment. We ordered sesame chicken, black pepper chicken, Kung pao chicken, beef and broccoli and spring rolls. The black pepper chicken had a bunch of gristle and the "beef" in the beef and broccoli tasted like it had gone bad! The broccoli was barely cooked and had zero flavor. We threw the beef entree in the trash, didn't want to risk anyone getting sick. Overall, not a good meal and would be hard pressed to eat here again. Employees friendly but food was a fail. Decided to order Takeout for a Friday night with some big Rainbow King fans. Placed the order and we were told it would be ready in 20 minutes. Due to and inordinate amount of 540 traffic I arrived for pickup way beyond the 20 minute mark. It is located off of Capital Blvd prior to Stadium Dr. next to Lowes foods. It is a very small establishment, maybe seating 8, but always full of hungry patrons awaiting takeout. I spoke to the de facto Manager in training, Maggie, a 11 year old Superstar who seamlessly answers the phone, takes orders, and runs the register with aplomb. A future CEO. She told me our order was almost ready...20-30 minutes later I received our order: Chicken with Broccoli, Chicken on a stick, Hot and Sweet Chicken, Chicken Fried Rice, Egg roll. Chef hand delivered it to me and thanked me for waiting. She informed me it was all GRATIS, and she threw in an additional Egg roll! I offered to pay and she insisted with her magnanimity. I felt like a Chinese Takeout Lottery winner. Maybe it was because of the impending lucky 8/18/18 or just great service. Finally delivered and consumed our haul. Well worth the wait. What sets this place apart is that they have Thai on the menu. Now, one thing I don't like is this trend of Chinese takeout places serving multiple styles of cuisine, but failing to be true to the cuisine. I'm talking about those places that sell a hibachi chicken that is exactly the same as their sesame chicken. But, there aren't any Thai restaurants in Wake Forest, so despite being leery, I gave this place a shot. Number one, I was pleasantly surprised by the price. $5.55 is a downright bargain compared to the prices back in Raleigh. I went for that dish for which all Thai places should be judged. Pad Thai. True, it's a simple dish, but it is very hard to get right. They got it right. It was good. I could stand a bit more fish sauce and some fresh cilantro on top,but I couldn't complain. Not for $5.55. The egg roll was undercooked and the chow mein was only onions, celery, some carrot shavings, and about 5 pieces of boiled chicken. There were no noodles at all. In the past my family has had really good experiences with take out food from this restaurant but not this time. The fried dough for the orange chicken was over cooked and crunchy and far too much dough- not enough chicken. We didn't even finish it. Also the fried rice included in the combo plates is just yellow saffron rice with onions. We're hoping the cooks just had a bad night. read more

Wow where do I start. Honestly just feel bad that they are clueless to a huge problem at this business. They young kid answering and checking you out is not ok. She may be able to do all the above but why is she. They need to hire extra help. Mom is overwhelmed and clearly doing the best she can. I have been going here for about 3 years. They seem to always run smoothly but a recent trip to the restaurant had me contemplating ever returning. I called in my order was told it would be a half hour so I showed up a half hour later. I waited and waited and waited until I finally got up to ask why people that were ordering right in front of me were getting their order before me. Come to find out my order was given to someone else & again mom being overwhelmed had no idea. Far and away the best Chinese takeout around. Consistently amazing staples like my favorite Orange Beef, and great Thai like the Green Curry Chicken. Without a doubt this is the best Chinese I have had since I moved from New York 17 years ago. I myself am in the business, and am amazed at the quality and freshness they provide for an fantastic price. It's no secret I'm a sushi guy, after all that's what I do for a living. The food is average at best. Sesame Chicken was luke warm and not enough sauce. The egg roll tasted like it had been dropped in the fryer several times, and the oil just dribbled out of it. The egg drop soup was bland and the low main was bland as well. Not a place I would return to. read more

We stopped in without calling first and ordered General Tsos and Chicken HIbachi. Questions were answered easily and staff was VERY courteous. Dining area was clean although we got ours to go. The Tso chicken was fresh and obviously white meat - no strange brown chucks of mystery meat. Rice was fresh and hot. We ordered the larger portion and an egg roll on the side. Chicken Hibachi was all white meat with fresh veges that were cooked perfectly. Also ordered qt of wonton soup that came with 7-8 wontons in it, big too!
