I ordered the lo mein, bamboo flounder fish, and a side of fried rice. Unfortunately, the lo mein was extremely greasy, the fried rice was overly salty, and the shrimp was hard, overcooked and not fresh. When I informed the waiter that I would not be eating the lo mein due to its condition, I was told that I would still have to pay for it and that it did not matter whether I liked it or not. He initially refused to remove the dish from my bill. After eventually taking it off, he told me that he never wanted to see my face again as I was leaving. What disappoints me most is that I genuinely enjoyed this restaurant and had been a repeat customer. The decline in food quality combined with the way my concerns were handled has left a very negative impression. Unfortunately, I will be taking my business elsewhere.

I came right before a show at the Alamo Drafthouse around the corner, which makes it the perfect night out for dinner and show. It looks like a lot of people order takeout here, but they have ample tables and do offer an excellent dine in service. I loved their green beans and eggplant. All their food felt more authentic and homestyle than your typical run of the mill Chinese place. The food had flavor, and it wasn't overly greasy either! I'll definitely come back next time in near north Raleigh.

Imperial Garden has long been my go-to place for Chinese food, but over my last few visits, I have noticed that the quality of the meat has gone down The restaurant layout is split into two rooms. The first room features booths and an elevated seating section, while the second room has tables for larger groups. The decor is simple and traditional. The service here is still very good. Although I haven't gotten my favorite waitress during my last few visits, she made a point to come over and talk to me this last time. She even remembered my exact order and that I like it prepared without onions, which I truly appreciated! Unfortunately, the beef itself seemed a little rubbery. A few of the pieces were completely fine, so I am not sure whether the meat was just overcooked or had sat under a heat lamp too long before being served. The fried rice seemed better than ever, though, as was the eggroll. I think I will need to start trying some new vegetarian or alternative dishes here on my next visits to avoid the meat, as I still really enjoy the local atmosphere and excellent service.

Portions are very generous, and we usually have enough leftovers for a complete meal the next day. It can get crowded during peak times, so I highly recommend a reservation. Two stand-by Chinese starters, Egg Rolls and Crab Rangoon, are a great way to begin any meal. The Egg Rolls are big, crispy and full of flavor. The Crab Rangoon are the best I have had anywhere. These won-won wonders are tender with a silky-smooth Cream Cheese and Crab filing. Imperial Garden does all the basic Chinese Chicken dishes to perfection. The Hunan Chicken, is slightly spicy and stir-fried with a few vegetables in a savory sauce. My grandkids love the Sesame Chicken). These bite-size chunks of Chicken are coated with a thick, sticky, slightly sweet sauce and liberally coated with Sesame Seeds. Two other favorites are General Tso's Chicken - double fried and sautéed with fresh green peppers in spicy sauce and Empress Chicken - marinated chicken, lightly fried and sautéed with broccoli, baby corn, straw mushroom & water chestnuts. Peking Style dishes are another winner. Whether it's Shrimp. Pork, Beef or Chicken; these tender morsels are coated in a tempura-like slurry, stir-fried to perfection and smothered in your favorite sauce. I like the Sweet & Sour Pork version. It comes with a bit of Carrot, Water Chestnut, Bell Pepper and Onion; and is served with either White Rice or Fried rice. Throw in a lightly-hopped ice-cold Tsingtau, sit back, and savor the moment.

LoveFood named Ni Asian the best Chinese restaurant in North Carolina, Midtown Magazine gave it the Gold Diamond Award, and it's been a favorite on Nextdoor Neighborhood Faves. So I had to check out the hype, and it didn't disappoint. I enjoyed the positive messages all over the restaurant. It isn't fancy and has the hole-in-the-wall charm, which generally means amazing food. The restaurant has outdoor seating, booths in the front and another small dining area further back that you can't see from the front. They also seemed to have a pretty active takeout business. The menu is a mixture of Thai, Chinese and Vietnamese. The menu was larger than I expected, and they have $9.99 lunch options and $11.99 dinner options. I arrived before they opened and looked at the menu on the door. I decided on the Triple Delight, but it wasn't on the inside menu; they made it for me anyway. It was shrimp, chicken and beef with a mixture of veggies, and I got fried rice for an extra charge. It was delicious, and the flavors were great. The portion was large enough that I got three meals from it. They offer plenty of teas, but others in the group wanted coffee, which they do not offer. They do offer Coke products. Service was friendly and attentive. I look forward to my next meal here.

I wouldn't classify this as your typical Chinese American restaurant - though you will find popular CA dishes here. Be forewarned they don't cook with pork (I.e. pork fried rice is not an option). I experienced an aftertaste that seem to indicate the slurry wasn't cooked long enough (assuming that it what I experienced). Also it veered a tad bit too sweet for my palate. Service was efficient. The owner/only person working was friendly as well, and told me I would like his chicken. I ordered the general tso chicken with fried rice and crab rangoon. My total was around $35 and the food was super hot and fresh and big enough to feed 2. The crab rangoons came in a bag of 6 and were crispy, big, and full of filling. They were so good and filling and honestly my favorite crab rangoon I've had from any spot around here. Each bite was great. The chicken was in fact so delicious and so tender. Each piece was good and there were no weird stringy or crusty pieces of chicken. The sauce was so flavorful and I loved the dish. 10/10 takeout!! Update: After finishing leftovers I can say this will be my new go-to takeout spot

This is not a dine in restaurant - be prepared for takeout only. Prices are higher than typical. Food was solid. Egg rolls better than most and not greasy. Pork fried rice very, very good. Rice is yellow (perhaps food coloring?) and delicious. I typically order no egg, no peas, no carrots, and add bean sprouts. Disappointed they don't offer bean sprouts, but I'm also tempted to add veggies upon next visit. Overall, rice was delicious. My biggest letdown was garlic shrimp and veggies. Shrimp were large - but slightly overcooked. Veggies also overcooked. Flavor fell a tad bit flat. I'm guessing it was me, and perhaps I had a bad day (which, IMO, affects flavor). I would definitely try again if I'm in the area. Fast casual Chinese: 3.7
