Whenever I'm visiting my dad in Raleigh and looking for a quick bite to eat, I always go to Jumbo China. The young lady at the front counter is consistently friendly and welcoming. They have a couple of tables for dining in,although I rarely see anyone eating there since most customers seem to order takeout. The food is always freshly prepared, hot, and flavorful.Although I've only tried about four Chinese restaurants Jumbo China is one of the best Chinese food I've had in Raleigh. read more

We love this place! The fried rice is amazing, they stuff the boxes with food so you definitely get your moneys worth. The staff are OK, sometimes they do seem a little tired, I don't get this amazing customer service experience when I do go, but the food makes up for it. Ordered online, but never got a confirmation text or email so I called 10 min after placing and they did get the order and it was going to be about 5 more min! So if you don't know if they got the order, I'd say give them a call shortly after placing online. The orange chicken combo with the fried rice and egg roll was such a great deal ($10) and the food was plentiful! The sauce on the orange chicken was delicious and the rice was not dry, and well made. The egg roll with the extra duck sauce I asked for was delissshhhh! Will def make this spot a regular take out. What a disappointment my family and I experienced on September 22, 2024. The fried shrimp and wontons made us sick for days. The unfortunate thing is that we have been going here faithfully for three years without any issues. That will be my last time going there. Was at the Lowe's Food grocery store near this Chinese restaurant and decided to call in and do a pick up for dinner. I ordered the boneless spare ribs, the house special lo mein and an order of their crab rangoons. With the amount of people who were there and the amount of orders they had I thought the food would be amazing, unfortunately, it was mediocre at best. The crab rangoons were ok, the house special lo mein was terrible and the noodles were more like spaghetti noodles than lo mein noodles. As I was checking out I noticed the employee who was on the fryer grab a drink from the customer side cooler, drink it and proceed to continue to open the egg roll bags with his bare hands. Food is pretty good. My first time going and I ordered the veggy l mein , egg rolls and dumplings fried. Everything was good the egg rolls are some of the best I've had in years. Lol dumplings weren't pan fried like I thought they would be they are deep fried and a bit soggy. Other then that def would visit again. Service is friendly. We are new in town and had not established our go-to Chinese take out yet. After a quick Yelp! check, we decided on Jumbo China. I really like it. Hubby had the Szechuan Chicken combo and I had the Sesame Chicken combo. It is a nice touch that the sesame chicken dish has a little kick of heat to it! We will be back! read more

I really like my local Chinese restaurant. I was typically a Monday patron but some time back they decided to close on Mondays. I'm adaptable. This spot is family-run. Over the years I've seen the kids get older and are now part of the show. I like that. They're all very friendly. I recommend calling ahead because they get busy at times and this helps avoid the wait. Sometimes I'll just pop in like I did recently and waited less than 5 minutes. If it's average traffic they are fast I'm not the typical Chinese food patron. It seems that most people order the same thing or maybe one or two choices. I like new stuff so I work my way through the menu so I've tried a lot of things. Everything has been solid. I don't consider chicken wings Chinese food so they get a special mention. This is by far my favorite "fast casual" Chinese restaurant. We started going to Jumbo China when we lived in our old house and it was on my home from work. After moving, there are three or four other Chinese places closer to home, but we still prefer to drive the 20+ minutes out to Jumbo China. The food is always good and fresh. In fact the staff prepares vegetables all throughout the day and you can watch them chopping, washing, etc. The staff is extremely helpful and accommodating. My wife had a horrible onion allergy so we always have to request our friend rice with no onions. To make sure it's onion free, they cool us a completely fresh batch of pork fried rice in a separate wok with everything except onions. They always go above and beyond to make sure everything is exactly to our desires. My wife and I love Jumbo China. You will, too. Give them a try today. read more

I enjoy coming to this neighborhood restaurant almost weekly. The prices are good, the food is fresh, and you can tell it is a family-run business. They serve brown fried rice unlike many restaurants in the area who specialize in the yellow fried rice. My favorite dish is the sweet and sour chicken combination dinner with vegetable fried rice and pork. read more

Went to place an order of boneless pork, was told they are out of pork. Ok, understandable, then tried placing an order egg foo young.. no eggs.. ok... I just walked out. How are going to run a restaurant when you don't have the ingredients for the food on your menu? And there is a grocery store down the street!!! Jumbo China is to the right of the Lowes Food in the Forestville Shopping center. They have some pretty decent food here but I would highly suggest if you plan on ordering take out to bring home after work then call ahead. I ordered when I got there once and waiting 35 minutes for me food. The place is about the size of any other Chinese food place and nothing really special. Parking in the front can be tough sometimes but there is almost always parking next to the subway. read more

My family and I have been eating here since 2012. I just want to say that every time we go in the owner always greets us and even knows our order almost all the time her daughter is really sweet and handles everything very well. we have never had an issue with this place. We have grown to love the fried baby shrimp! It's our favorite. People need to learn to be patient. I work at a restaurant as well and making food takes time. I hate walking in and seeing customers yell and argue with the wait time...what do you expect? 30-40 minutes is a reasonable waiting time. Jumbo China is our neighborhood place, we find the food to be consistent, the kitchen is open and clean and the service is always prompt. Of all the Chinese take-out places in Raleigh, it is one of our favorites. The lunch specials are a value at approximately $5 for entrée with fried rice.
