The highlight of our meal was the Crab Rangoons. Each bite was packed with a combination of sweet and savory flavors! It was a great small appetizer that we enjoyed thoroughly. We also had the House Fried Rice, which was also a great addition to our dinner. The Lo Mein was a little dry and lacking flavor, but it could be due to it being a take-out meal and the sauces had dried up in the process. I got invited to lunch and was told"we're eating the most delicious fresh Chinese food"! Needless to say I was all in! We arrived at Peace China around 1230p on a Monday. I was surprised that it wasn't packed but it was busy. The restaurant is a typical design with counter to order, self-serve drinks and condiments. The decor was light and airy which was refreshing. The cashier who took our order was pleasant and helpful. There was no wait. Our food arrived hot to the table served on paper plates and bowls. Portions were somewhat large. First taste of my spicy garlic shrimp with vegetables was delicious. Large shrimp in a brown sauce with broccoli, onions, green bell peppers and mushrooms was tasty and the garlic was not overpowering. I ordered the white rice and it was cooked well. The spring rolls were yummy warm and flavorful. I tried a ginger sauce...not to my liking though. Overall the experience was pleasant and the meal was delicious and tasted fresh. First off if you are going to charge almost 12 dollars for a combo meal make sure you actually stuff it with food ! I ordered the sesame chix combo with shrimp fried rice , first off you get didn't give me a combo , they gave me sesame chix in a container that wasn't even filled half way and a small container of shrimp fried rice with two pieces of shrimp !! And then to top it off they don't even give you an egg roll with it ! They charged me close to 20 dollars for this ! The food was horrible on top of it all . Please do NOT waste your money here . Y'all. The steamed dumplings here are special. I ate them too quick to take a picture. Kung Pao chicken was not spicy, but if you add their red pepper sauce, it is downright decent. Vegetarian Singapore noodles were great. . . after adding a little soy sauce. Everything was very fresh and I appreciate that it wasn't overwhelmingly salty. Peace China is was just okay! I went here with the staff from my job it was clergy appreciation day and this the place they all selected. I was excited because it was my first time! When I first arrived the first thing that I noticed was the parking! There was plenty of parking available and the parking lot was huge so it wasn't a problem at all. Ps, I didn't even know peace China was in the spot that it is. When we walked in the space wasn't very big but they seemed to be the spot for lunch goers in the area. There wasn't a wait at all. They used to be good. Like, really, really good. That all changed about 2+ years ago when the picture menus went up and the food quality went down. Every now and then, I get a craving for the food of my people which brought me over to Peace China in Seaboard. While the Seaboard area is not the most obvious choice for lunch, they've got some nice options there with J. Betskis, 18 Seaboard and now Peace China! The place is really simple: open kitchen, formica tables and inexpensive Chinese food. Lunch specials are $5.25, throw in an egg roll for a combo lunch and you're looking at about $7. Menu choices are standard Chinese-american fare: General Tso's, chicken in garlic sauce, beef and broccoli, etc. Nothing too exciting but fine for what I needed today. I ordered up a couple of my faves to go: shrimp with lobster sauce and a garlic chicken. Food portions are good and everything tasted pretty good. One thing different about the garlic chicken was that Peace China uses quite a few veggies in it: mushrooms, peppers, onion, cabbage, broccoli and zucchini! Much better than the typical soggy stuff you get. Service was fine but a bit slower than expected, at least you know the food is fresh. Very kind and hardworking and one of the best chefs, he will make sure your order is right before it leaves the kitchen! I drive all the way from Wake Forest just to come here for Surya and the great food! The drive is totally worth it, so with that being said if you want some bomb Chinese food stop by here! The dish was marked vegetarian, but I'm always pretty cautious. We found Peace China's website. The website is well built and looks rather professional with colorful, clear pictures. Done and done. Called and placed an order for pickup for two $7.25 Dinner Specials: Cashew Chicken with Pork Fried Rice and Mongolian Chicken with chicken fried rice that came with two fried eggrolls. Peace Chinese is tucked away in the back of Seaboard Station. The outside looks nice and the inside is your typical cheap Chinese food place, but very clean. The food was ready, it took 30 seconds to pay - all in all, quick and easy pickup transaction. But I'm still on the quest for a quick and easy, reliable cheap Chinese food place - because of the food at Peace China, not good. And they were doing so well... The eggrolls were very bready. First the fried outer shell, then another bready inner thick layer and maybe one or two shreds of cabbage, one carrot and some microscopic bits of mystery meat. The chicken pieces in my chicken fried rice were very generous chunks of chicken, they even had grill marks, but they were eerie pale and lacked flavor of any type. It reminded me of boiled chicken but they could have at least have sprinkled some pepper on it, maybe some soy sauce, something. The cashew chicken had more chunks of zucchini (zucchini in cashew chicken?!) than chicken and the Mongolian beef was grade D chewy beef drowned in a thick beef sauce. It was a little bland- maybe if you put some of that spicy red stuff on there, it'll be better. The fried rice was decent. Not too greasy. My friend's chicken dish was much yummier than mine. His was the sesame chicken, which was way more flavorful. (But probably a zillion more calories, so we'll call it even.....) Fortune cookies were stale. What a solid place to take-out food. Bf and I have ordered out here twice (about 6 months apart), the second being last night, and had the same thing both times. Still deliciously satisfying! It's hard to beat a meal for two for less than $20 with leftovers. We get: Wonton soup, shrimp lo mein (dinner combo comes with fried rice - we like it with chicken - and an egg roll), and red curry with chicken and udon noodles. This is the second time I've been here. I came a couple weeks ago with my mom. The chicken pad Thai i ordered that time had a lot of tofu in it? But it was fine. I tried shrimp with broccoli and steamed dumplings this time. It was very good! I like eating here because it doesn't feel as fried or saucy as other places do. We grabbed pickup from Peace China to end a lazy Sunday. We ordered wonton soup, red curry with chicken (extra spicy), and general tso chicken with all broccoli, no rice. All of it was really fresh and delicious! I wish the curry was spicier even though I ordered it extra spicy. They do a great job with our extra additions/ substitutions and its always ready in ten minutes (or less). The staff is always very friendly also. Tip: you can get panang curry with chicken if you ask, then menu only has panang with tofu but they can sub chicken, or any other meat I'm sure. All of their curries are so good! Peace is in my regular lunch rotation, and I visit once every few weeks. It is a counter service restaurant that is clean, fast, and consistently good. I can indulge with some general tso's chicken, or I can be healthy with the steamed chicken and mixed vegetables. The food stands out from other Chinese options in the area; it is not as greasy and the menu features grass fed beef and gluten-free options. The counter has everything you could want - including chopsticks, sriracha, soy sauce, mustard, fortune cookies, and more. They also have outdoor seating. The only thing that is a little weird is the music they play over their speakers... maybe it is different at night, but my coworkers and I always get a kick out of the uptempo pop/electronic that doesn't really vibe with the restaurant. read more

I've updated this review to five stars, not because it's the best restaurant in town, but for what it offers, it's the best in its class. Cheap, fast, convenient Chinese take-out. Even when it is dead slow, the food is still consistent, which is hard to come by at most Chinese take-out restaurants. The dining area is clean, they offer a variety of bottled beer (Tsingtao is a Chinese lager...also have Carolina Pale Ale, Hoegarden, Asahi which is a Japanese beer). The most impressive thing about this place is actually the people behind the counter. The service is great! The manager Wei (at least I believe he is), is a great guy. He always greets you with a smile, asks you how your day was, and if you're up for it, engages in conversation during the slower times. I've noticed many customers speak with Wei as if they've known eachother for years...you just don't see that anymore. It was very refreshing. I ordered a lunch plate and while I waited he offered me water. He also asked me if I would use delivery if they offered it -- I responded with an enthusiastic ABSOLUTELY, and he thanked me for my input. On a trip to get catfood at Phydeaux we found ourselves hungry and our usual spot, J.Betski's was closed for the mid-day lull. We'd had Peace China's take out a long time ago and remembered it was decent so off we went. We went straight up to the register and ordered from the well-lit menu that you find at most fast food Chinese establishments. I got the Kung Pao Chicken and an egg drop soup and Brandon ordered Chicken w/Vegetables (not on the menu). We sat down and waited a little while while the wok clanged in the kitchen. It was a little loud, but I guess that's the price you pay for having a kitchen area that's pretty much open to the dining area. The food came out hot and fresh. On the way back to the table, I hit the little dispenser button to get a spoon for my soup and it popped right out! It was kinda surprising and I've never seen a dispenser like that before. I found it amusing. The food was tasty and the veggies were fresh. Nothing spectacular, but definitely right for the price. I did notice that my soup and my kung pao both were oily. It was a little off-putting, but didn't destroy the flavor any. There was enough food for leftovers too, so that's always nice. We were at Down By The Tracks, and after the event, were looking for somewhere to eat. Lots of places weren't open, but as we were headed to the parking lot, there was Peace China. I could see how I missed it: end of the shopping area, and not near anything I typically frequent. I think everyone has a definition for what they want in Chinese. For me, it's standard Chinese-American Fare, and this place has it. Not only that, but it's well prepared at a really good price. Lots of options, and not left with that "I'm not sure if I'm going to be sick/I might never eat again" digestive process afterwards. No delivery is a bummer, but I'm willing to make the drive for it. I come here 2-3 times a week for the Szechuan Tofu; lightly fried, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. I usually replace all my vegetables with a heap of broccoli. Everything cooked to perfection with a flavorful plum sauce. It's like crack. The pork dumplings are best for your $ in the area. 6 fat ones for half of the price of most Asian places. I place great trust in the freshness and source of their local ingredients. The employees are always pleasant. They often give me free meals when there's a confusion with the order.
