Ambiance is pretty bare and simple but the service was quick and everyone was nice. I got the tonkotsu ramen and replaced the meat for chicken. My friend got the curry laksa soup which she enjoyed. It was pretty good and as expected but the eggs were cold in the middle, I'm not sure how that happens but it was still tasty after being submerged in the broth. I was nervous to order the ultra spicy version of any dish but was relieved when they told me the chili oil can come on the side. The noodles were cooked well and not mushy/overcooked. The eggs, save the cold middle, were perfectly cooked - not overly cooked with some softness in the center. Not the most authentic place but a good option if you are in the area or finishing an appt in the village! I don't know if I would go out of my way to seek out another visit but wouldn't mind eating there again.

I was in the area for an appointment which finished around lunchtime, so I opted to try Zanyu Asian Noodles. I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken. What I received was NOT Drunken Noodles. It was more like a Singapore noodle dish, as there was a curry sauce and glass noodles. It was tasty, but just not what I was hoping for. Anyway, I may try Zanyu if I'm in the area again, but I'll pay in cash next time...
Came in off a Yelp search, and saw the kha soi noodles had some good reviews so of course I had to come try. They were full of flavor and were fresh tasting. Highly recommend. The edamame was okay. The service was exceptional from all employees. The ambiance was quiet, and the place was clean. Overall, this place was a place I would return to and highly recommend for someone in the area.

I love the location of this place (Lafayette Village) and I was very interested by all the noodle options this place offered but ended up personally not being a fan. However, they had great service and cute indoor and outdoor seating. The vegan/vegetarian options here are very weak. They offered two vegan options that didn't look that great so when we requested a curry sauce instead we were disappointed to find out it was all chicken broth based. I understand this is usually the case for most noodle places though. Due to that, he was only able to get the veggie spring rolls but he said they were great! I was really excited to try the Khao Soi noodles after seeing all the pictures of it but it was veryyyyy sweet. The coconut curry sauce was actually way too sweet, and my bowl had an overwhelming amount of chicken in it compared to very little noodles. This wasn't my taste at all but I'm sure the pad thai, drunken noodles, ramen, etc options were way better so I would just advise not getting the khao soi.
Wow! If you are looking for fresh food don't pass this place up. Great taste, good service, clean restroom, it's a winner. The Pad Se Ew is amazing.

I had ordered the Mee Lao with crispy chicken and my husband ordered the Khao Soi Noodle Soup. We also shared the combo buns. Service was friendly and super quick. Both dishes were outstanding but I was wishing I had ordered the Khao Soi because man, that was AMAZING. The buns were also outstanding! I feel like you can't go wrong with anything from the menu, though. The second time was for pickup. I had ordered two Khao Soi Noodle soups, and Mee Lao for my mother in law, and spring rolls to share. The order was ready when I arrived and packaged nicely. The food was as delicious as I remembered. I love trying new things but when you find that one dish you absolutely favor, it's hard trying something else from the menu. That's how I feel about the Khao Soi. How many times have I mentioned this soup? I'm serious...go try it now!
I love ramen so I was excited to take myself on a Sunday date to a new place. I ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen (without any veggies,) and loved it! The broth was very savory and I found the noodles cooked perfectly. The egg was also excellently cooked and flavorful. I was excited to find a restaurant where you can order the chili oil on the side as well. Weirdly enough, I've found this a rare option in the past. I like to moderate my own spice levels as the oil likes to sit on the top of the broth. My server was so sweet & friendly, and checked on me regularly. He made the experience great! Will be returning. Thank you!
Our dinner plans didn't work out, so we checked out this place. The interior was pretty basic, but it was nice to see authentic Lao dishes, so we tried a couple. We had the Seen Savanh (beef jerky) for an appetizer, and then Mee Kar Thee (coconut and peanut rice noodles) for an entree. I was hoping for a bit more with the Mee Kar Thee. It tasted like standard peanut noodles, and I was hoping for a little more flavor depth. Our waitress was really nice and had some good recommendations.
I decided to try their Khao Soi noodles on my first visit because of the rave reviews, and it certainly didn't disappoint. I also recommend asking for it a little extra hot by having them add more hot chili oil. I can't wait to try more items from their menu!

Decided to go with the popular dish according to previous Yelp reviews. This soup is pretty tasty if you like curry. I have to say yet my favorite was the pork baos, we ordered as appetizer but I would have been super happy just eating a bunch of those! Great option in Lafayette Village! read more

Yum! My husband and I ordered the Pho Lao Beef Soup and Curry Laksa Noodles with Tofu substitute (instead of chicken) and it was so good! There was nothing left in my husband's bowl and because my dish was so filling I took part of my dish home. It was the ultimate comfort food, flavorful, and delicious, it was especially nice to have noodles on a cold and rainy day. Service was friendly and the meals came out super fast. We would totally come back here to eat! read more
I like coming here sometimes when it's cold to get some soup. It's located at the Lafayette Village (a charming French style plaza in Raleigh). I usually order the Beef Pho Lao (Beef broth, spices and herbs, rice noodles, beef and garnish) and my husband orders the Tonkatsu Ramen. The Pho is very good and aromatic and I like it very much but my husband says that the Tonkatsu Ramen is inconsistent. Sometimes the pork is good and sometimes it isn't. Also, they play some pop/rap music there that doesn't match the Asian style restaurant. I've also tried the creamy vegan shoyo noodles and it was ok. I go there only for the Pho that is amazing! read more
I have been looking for a ramen place by my house for so long and I can't believe I've never been here before. Zanyu Noodles had a great menu selection and all the dishes were big enough to take leftovers home. I got the Pork Belly Confit Ramen and loved it! There were so many different flavors of the pork belly and the broth. Definitely recommend and I will be going back! read more

This was my first time coming here so I didn't know what to get or where to start. I do love spicy food so I saw a chili beside the curry laska noodle soup and like what ingredients was inside of the soup. Ordered it and it came in a big bowl and it was a lot of soup. The broth/soup was really good and had a perfect amount of heat. It did have a lot of noodles and chicken in it as well. The seating in there is very limited as it is pretty small in there. I'll have to go back again to try something different. read more
Zanyu Asian noodles in Lafayette village is the perfect ramentic place to eat for a warm dish that soothes the body and soul. I had the khao soi noodle soup, one of the popular menu options, which was very delicious. The staff were also very kind, helpful, and attentive. read more

I like what Zanyu is doing with their many noodle options by offering Malaysian and other SE Asian dishes. However, the execution was okay- I got the laksa, but the noodles did not soak up the broth as much as I wanted it to. It was also pretty oily, as the oils and the broth would separate from each other often. We also had the pad Thai with crispy chicken, but the chicken wasn't as juicy as I would have liked, and the pad Thai noodles were very chewy. The ambience is nice and this would be a good place for an outdoor dining experience, but I would probably go to Yin Dee or Rasa Malaysia for their noodles instead! read more

AMAZING!!!! And SUPER YUMMY!!! I came here yesterday referred by a friend of mine. My date and I were amazed by how good it was! The Shrimp tempura was crispy on outside yet nice and fluffy inside. It came with a side sauce of spicy sweet sauce that was a great compliment. We then got the pork buns! MOUTH WATERING! I tried pork buns before but these blown me away! No fat with savory sweet sauce inside and has shredded pork with cucumber salad. VERY MUCH RECOMMENDED!! Then we got our bowls. -Khao Soi noodle soup was very savory and comfy in the sense of having it be categorized as comfort dish. Very nice I loved it and the broth was creamy (giving the comfort sense) and yet savory from the sense of the fried shallots. -Curry Laksa noodle soup was in a similar broth to Khao Soi but it had a kit to it still would very much order it again! Loved it very much! -Spicy Miso ramen very much was spicy it was in the form that I had to take a bit of break from eating spicy ramen (yet again I am weak when it comes to spicy food but still try to build my tolerance) I would try it whenever I feel for the challenge. In all I would come back to Zanyu and try again its all fresh and made with love! The employees working are very kind and outgoing! I personally think the patio and dine in is small but its in a rented location (you kinda got work with what you have). The place is located in a very unique trail of restaurant and cafes that I have yet to try! I very much like the location and thank my friend over and over for giving me the chance to check this place out with my date! All in all would come again!! read more

They didn't have a ton of vegetable options. Their vegetable egg rolls were ok. The ramen broth was bland and lacked taste, which is unlikely for noodle spots. The broth is the best part of the meal. read more
Rich broths, perfectly cooked noodles...there's a lot of complexity going on in these noodle dishes! You can tell that they've worked hard to perfect them and to make sure that each element is just right. Six of us met for lunch recently on a rainy Tuesday. I managed to get there before the rest and took the time to peruse the menu. Having a hard time deciding which to try, the owner was kind enough to let me sample one of the broths I was curious about. Much appreciated and it did help me decide. Note: order at the counter...water is offered, but they also have bottled drinks including Japan's number one green tea (Oi Ocha) which made me and DIL happy. Grab your drink, pay and sit down. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The place is small, but we didn't have a problem finding room for the six of us. They will bring your bowl of delicious goodness to you. The Chicken Shoyu Ramen minus 'shrooms but with added chili oil on the side, could not have been more perfect for me. I loved the minced chicken, the rich broth, the sweet fried tofu, the seasoned egg, the seaweed....yum! Meanwhile, others were enjoying the curry, the beef udon, the wanton (has a nice touch of sesame oil), and the pork belly one. I can personally attest to leftovers being good the next day as well. I wanted to wait to review Zanyu until after trying it a second time. Well, I tried it for a second time tonight, and I'm teetering between 3 and 3.5 stars (Yelp really needs to get on offering half star ratings). I digress... Our first pickup order was Valentine's Day, so I didn't want to judge this place based on their takeout on the busiest night of the year (they forgot our pork buns--and were not very apologetic about it--and my soup was just okay). The spring rolls were the best part of the meal that night. Tonight was round 2. For apps, we shared the pork buns and spring rolls--both were great. The pork bun was the perfect texture and the meat was delicious and sticky. My entree is where things really went wrong, though. My partner got the Mee Kar Thee which was tasty but reminiscent of the Red Curry noodles I got last visit (seems to be their "foundational" broth). I got the Larb Gai and it was just... not good. Not good in any way. The chicken lacked flavor and sat atop a bed of wilted lettuce (not to mention the old cilantro and yellowish cucumbers it was garnished with). It was sort of reminiscent of a halfhearted chicken cheesesteak salad; the whole time I was trying to eat it, my palate was just confused. I think we'll return, but just for apps next time. read more
The food here is fantastic. I've recently become pretty good at navigating my way around Lafayette Village. And thankfully so, otherwise I never would've stopped here for lunch what with the often nonexistent parking. My car was pretty far away from my destination, but lucky for me I knew a few zig zags that helped me bypass walking around the entire complex. It was half busy, almost just the way I like businesses to be. Normally, I like to have a place all to myself. Bad for business, but good for me. In a perfect world, everyone in the area would decide to eat or shop at the same place as me AFTER or BEFORE I'd been there. That introvert life. You order, take a seat, and wait for your food to be brought out to you . Fair enough, just not obvious. I'm sure the staff tire of having to tell newcomers how it works all the time. Case in point, the waitresses/cashiers weren't jazzed about work that day. Not grouchy, not enthusiastic - indifferent. It didn't sway my mission to get noodles. I got the braised beef with soba noodles and a pork bun. The soup was great, however loaded with sodium. The taste was pretty overpowering. The noodles were very good, but they were super stingy with them and I had to ask for extra noodles. The manager or owner or whatever was really cool and hit me off with some, making the bowl nice and full. The real star of my show was the pork bun. Never could I have ever predicted that such a thing would ever enter my life. I could drive out there, park weirdly, zig zag around the premises and be casually waited on just for that pork bun. read more
I think Zanyu is a great additional to Lafayette Village, especially if you are looking for something quick. I like that they have both soup noodle bowls and dry noodle bowls. My husband isn't super into soups, so this is perfect for him. I got the Wonton Noodle Soup and it was flavorful and satisfying. My husband got the Wonton Noodle Dry and he really enjoyed it as well. The dumplings were super tasty and I didn't even really need the pork that came with it as well. The bok choy definitely needs to be cut down. While having the whole piece looks good, it isn't practical when trying to eat it along with the soup. We went on a Friday night and the place was busy, but not slammed. Everyone was able to find a table within five minutes of arriving. It's small in there and not the best option for large groups. Parking can be tricky in Lafayette village and even the garage was pretty jam packed! read more

From ramen to udon and more, Zanyu Asian Noodles up in Lafayette Village is offering some of the tastiest noodz around! Sitting on a corner of Lafayette Village in N. Raleigh, this quick-casual restaurant has 8 or so noodle bowls on the menu along with a handful of apps, all in the $4 to $14 range. The space is a bit long and oddly shaped but fine for what they're doing. I tried a fantastic dry wanton noodle bowl that came with perfectly fried wantons and topped with fried shallots and BBQ pork. Also did an amazing niku udon that had thin slices of beef in an oniony broth, fantastic! While I don't live close to Zanyu Asian Noodles, I've made the drive up a couple of times because it's super tasty and different. I live on the on the opposite side of Raleigh so I don't make it up North much but this was worth the drive. It's always nice to take a walk through the shops here. I am happy to hear that this restaurant was added to the strip. Whenever you think "noodles", you don't have many expectations but to find a quality bowl of "noodles" is rare, especially in Raleigh. The restaurant is small with an awkward layout but it doesn't define the experience. The flavors of the broth blew me away and were different from most places. I went with the curry noodles, topped with perfectly fried wontons strips. The owner came around to say, "hello" which was cool. She gave me a background of how the restaurant came to be along with her journey. Overall, great customer service! I was impressed with my experience and look forward to visiting again soon in the near future to try the other noodle soups. read more
