The food here is amazing and has a really comforting, homey feel. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, which I've always loved about this place. I hate to rate this place a 1-star but the service during this visit was disappointing. Some of our friends arrived about 30 minutes before us and ordered something small while they waited. When we got there, there weren't enough seats for all of us, so we asked if we could move to a larger table. The staff told us we couldn't because our friends had already eaten, even though the rest of us were planning to order. On top of that, our water was never refilled, which reinforced the feeling of being an inconvenience rather than a guest at the restaurant. I remember the service being much warmer when I last came here about two years ago. We ordered 6 pieces with the Soopreme sauce (with soga - soy and garlic- and old fashioned -spicy sauce- mixed in), and they were good. Crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and coated in that sweet-spicy glaze that has depth of flavor. Messy in the best way possible. Unfortunately, chicken wings at Bonchon tasted much better for me. The cold bibimbap was refreshing and well-balanced -- fresh veggies and a nice chilled contrast to the hot wings. It felt light but still satisfying. The BEST KFC in U.S. KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) is THE soul food of Korea deeply rooted in korean culture. Grew up eating different style of KFC in Korea, California, HI. Other places tried in GA, NY and VA. And it is absolutely surprising that my #1 KFC is here in Raleigh. FYI, I met the owner - who cooks himself in the kitchen - states he fries the chicken himself due to quality control. He also trains and creates menu for other KFC place in LA That being said, KFC is absolute best here and I just can't believe it is here in NC. Food: they have pretty small menu and the reason is-- their specialty is KFC. I've tried their pork belly Ssam (korean wrap) and although it was good I have to say- I've had better in Ssam specialty restaurant. So let's talk about what I come here for. That's right. KFC. I do not do take out either. It's fried. You will get the best taste out of it straight out of the fryer to the plate. So I order , usually one plate of no sauce which is just battered and fried then another plate of soga (soy sauce garlic) sauce which is my very favorite: you can expect savory, salty, sweet with hint of mild spice. Once in a great while I would order traditional sauce if I'm in the mood for more spicy sauce. The chicken is very juice while the batter is so crispy. It is a must to drink beer with it (chi-mek) I usually order korean or asahi beer. Venue: this is not a typical look of KFC but it works. Pretty large to accommodate any occasions. They also have private room with karaoke for small party. They also recently added a corner with some korean grocery. Service: I see lots of turnover here as far as with servers as they are young man/women. But Dave who goes to Raleigh and also wake Forrest location is absolutely exceptional - and I was also grateful the owner came to our table to check up on us. I tried this restaurant for the first time after seeing it on TikTok and craving some Korean food. Although the outside of the restaurant is a little questionable, the inside is very unique! **Hidden Gem! As soon as you walk in you are greeted by truly genuine staff. There's table seating and very quirky couch seating as well. If you're looking to do group karaoke there's an entire area dedicated for it. But the real treat is the authentic Korean food. I had the small serving of beef Bulgogi which comes with rice, seasoned cucumbers and slaw. The beef had a teriyaki flavor. I also ordered a side of kimchi. I could have easily shared this with another person but I didn't and ate it ALL. It was delicious, well seasoned and the kimchi was a little spicy. One of my favorite restaurants in the triangle! As a vegetarian, I always get the vegetarian hot bibimbap. My friends will always get one of their wings with varying sauces. Overall, the bibimbap I get does not look like anything special, but for some reason always tastes better than any other place I've had it. Only downside is that the dish and wings have definitely gotten smaller likely due to "shrinkflation" but I would say it is still worth it. The location is a strip mall in Raleigh. Looks empty from the outside but very spacious on the inside. Usually not too busy and the one person running it is always very friendly and helpful. If it is busy you may have to wait but I would say it is worth it. Prices are average and not too expensive. Overall, one of my favorites over the years and glad to see it is still open! We looked up this place when we were going to another restaurant that didn't open On Monday's. Menu is limited here but decent overall. Shortage of worker like everywhere you had to wait - there is just one waitress and she does check out as well. Bimbimbap was not as authentic- it came out on a cast iron skillet rather than the stone pot. Decent selection of veggies in the pot though. Most people are here for the wings. And yes the wings are good. Very flavorful and finger licking good. The way it was cooked locked in the juices so it is crispy outside and juicy in. Would definitely recommend the soga sauce. I wasn't the biggest fan of soga sauce or wings but a special person bragged about the soga sauce and chicken here so much that I finally gave it a try and he did not fail me one bit. Even the doorway inside shows you articles about how they were rated one of the best fried chicken spots. It's no joke. I promise you that you'll be hooked off of one try eating here. Luckily I had some Japanese bbq sauce at home to help. The bulgogi also lacked flavor & I had to use the bbq sauce. The sad lettuce pieces in the plate they could have kept. The restaurant was empty. I cannot believe I didn't try this place sooner! I've driven past it so many times and today, I decided to stop in and I am so glad I did! There were three of us who dined so we were able to try several dishes and we did not hold back. The atmosphere was a warm, dimly lit place with casual vibes. First we tried the peach and apple Soju. They're both good, but Peach was definitely a hit. We started with pork dumplings, gyoza and edamame. Bon apetite! Now onto the main event. The fried chicken with the traditional sauce was friend to perfection! The beef bulgogi was super flavorful and tender. The server informed us that the Kimchi was his Dad's special recipe and it was YUMMY! Btw, he was the only server during this time and was doing a phenomenal job and maintaining efficiency. I've been eyeing this place on Yelp for a while and was finally on the side of town it was on. So I decided to get a to go lunch from there. I ordered the chicken tenders and the dumplings and both were good. The tenders I ordered came with the Soy Garlic sauce which was an interesting sauce. It was on the sweet side but you could also taste the soy sauce. The chicken was crispy and not soggy despite being adequately sauced which can happen sometimes. The dumplings were fried dumplings and they tasted like your average dumpling. The service was quick and fast for my Togo order. The inside of the restaurant seems nice despite the fact that I only ordered Togo. Overall it was a good experience and if I'm in the mood for some Korean fried chicken I will definitely be back.
