They may not know Korean food but they sure do know good food! They have different sauce options and combinations to put on whatever way you prefer to eat your chicken (wings, tenders, drumstick) or shrimp. March 2021 Okay babes, let's get this straight. Soo Cafe, a Korean restaurant that specializes in Korean Fried Chicken located in Raleigh, NC, hands down has the best fried chicken. I always always get the SoGa flavor (Soy Garlic). The breading is crispy and the meat is hella juicy ... lots of work has been in to make a masterpiece like this. Sadly, I don't live in Raleigh so I had learn how to make it myself! It's close though, but not the same. Still though, you should try it for yourself. They're not the cheapest wings... but in my opinion, they're worth every penny (sorry Bon Chon, for some KFC, you is cheap but you pale in comparison). Go to Bon Chon if you want to experience a more crispy breading but substantially less meat because their wings are malnourished asf. Oh - it's kinda cozy inside. The lighting in here is bad though, makes it impossible to get some good pictures. They also have a nice like 65in + TV that plays Korean/KPop music videos 23/7. This was my first time eating here, but the reviews are what made me check it out. I was looking for something quick to eat before work on Saturday and this popped up. I arrived around 4pm on Saturday and the place was completely empty. Which I was surprised to see bc by the reviews I would think it would be busy. A few people did come in for call in orders. I ordered the Soopreme Combo A which was like two wings and a drumstick. The lady informed me it would take about 15 minutes, which I didn't mind bc #1 I knew the food would be fresh and hot and #2 I had time to waste anyway. My food arrived and it smelled so good that I had to sample it before leaving the parking lot! The wings were a nice size and had plenty of sauce. The food was really good. A lot of garlic but it was good. The only thing to be mindful of are that the wings are cut in half, so be careful bc of split bones. But other than that they were really good. My second trip to Cafe Soo and the food is consistently fantastic! This is an unassuming spot in a strip mall anchored by a Post Office. The dining area is spacious, with a number of very large round tables - great for groups of 8 or 10. There's a karaoke set-up at the back of the room; on this visit k-pop videos were streaming on the big screen - and the music a little too loud for conversation without raising our voices. Amy ordered spicy beef bulgogi as an appetizer. This is served on a hot cast iron skillet. Romaine leaves on the side to make wraps. Bulgogi is thinly sliced grilled steak, marinated in soy sauce and grilled with vegetables and a house-created sauce. The beef bulgogi can be ordered spicy or not spicy. The spicy sauce is rich and garlic-y and I'd categorize the heat as medium - enough to be flavorful with a slight burn to the tongue, but not so hot that it's uncomfortable. Add a spoonful or two of beef to the lettuce with the grilled sauce and wrap it - delicious! The bulgogi came with a small bowl of kimchi, and a bowl of miso soup. Kimchi, a spicy,crunchy, sour-ish fermented cabbage, is delicious to me, but definitely an acquired taste. Miso soup was nothing special, but also tasty. The star of the evening, hands down, is the Korean fried chicken. There are a number of choices of meat (wings,tenders, drumettes). We opted for tenders. There is a choice of four sauces, we chose the SOGA (Soy Sauce and Garlic). All of the chicken is cooked to order, so don't expect fast food speed. The chicken is served extra crispy, sauced in a pool of delectable sauce. SOGA is just as you would imagine - slightly thick, salty-sweet,heavy on the garlic and enhanced with medium heat paste. IT. IS. DELICIOUS!! A bowl of sticky rice accompanies the chicken, and you can be sure that I had a big scoop of rice slathered with that SOGA sauce. Yessssssss!!!! So good!!!! I was visiting family in Raleigh and craving some Korean fried chicken. My mom suggested this restaurant. Man oh man it did not disappoint! We ordered wings with SOGA sauce (soy and garlic sauce), tenders with Old Fashioned sauce (a little bit of heat but I have a pretty good tolerance for spice), pickled radishes and white rice. But we both loved the heat of the hot & spicy one. Perfection would be a mixture of the two! The garlic soy one is literally like eating candy. Sweet, and sticky and the crunch on it is killer! The wings are quite large and so rich that I only ate three pieces total. Sister ate more, but we still had four pieces left to take home. An extra nice touch was the Chef came out to check on us. I've done take out before and it's delicious still but not as fresh (after the 20 minute drive home). It takes time to prepare fresh chicken wings so the wait may be a bit (but it's worth it). My favorite sauce is the SOGA. It is a combination of sweet and spicy. It use to be a bit more on the spicy side but noticed that it's sweeter than hot nowadays.
