Stopped by here for Hawaiian BBQ and had a solid experience overall. The interior is nice with clean, simple vibes, and it feels like a comfortable place to sit down and have a casual meal. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. I got the pork kalua, and while the meat was a little on the dry side, the portion size was huge. Definitely a lot of food for the price, and even just half felt very filling. The spam musubi was a bit pricey, but it might just be because the portions are larger than usual. I cannot express how much I wanted to love this place. There is a lack of Hawaiian food available here, so seeing this place gave me hope. My friend and I went in and ordered at the kiosk. The one employee we saw when entering offered no help. What we got and how we felt about it: 1. Fire chicken. Tons, and I mean, tons of food. Very spicy and did have some flavor, rice is DRY. If you prefer quantity over quality, you'll be happy. 2. Combination plate with chicken katsu and I think it was the bbq chicken. I tried one piece of the barbecued chicken, it was okay. My friend said the katsu was really good. 3. Kalua pork. I see other reviews saying it was too salty, or very good, or whatever. My take on it is that due to not being able to cook it over a fire, they add liquid smoke. For me, that's a huge NO. Again, rice is dry. 4. Shrimp Shumai. My friend liked this and the katsu the best. I tried one of the 3 he got and thought it was okay, but I personally didn't like the dipping sauce with it. After we got our food, another employee came in and she came over to offer water, and she was friendly. Regardless of having had Hawaiian food in Hawaii, I didn't expect it to be that good, I mean, we're not in Hawaii anymore. What I did want was less food that was of better quality. My friend wanted to go back to try a beef dish, but after thinking about how much he spent, and the disappointment in the chicken, other than the katsu, he's decided it's a one and done. Honestly, this is one of my favorite go-to places in the neighborhood. Whether I am looking for comfort food or just a quick snack, this is a place I stop by. The service is always great because they are so kind and friendly. I've dined in and ordered out and it's always a consistent experience. The dine-in experience reminds me of places in Jersey with the booths and wood grain, and it's pretty cool. The music selection also helps My favorite dishes are definitely the musubi and can't go wrong with any of the fried rice dishes. Always love me some Hawaiian eats and I'm huge fan of Ni Armor out in Pittsboro. So I was super curious about Triangle Hawaii BBQ! You'll have to head over to the Mini-Mart off Capital Blvd, it sits at the southern end of this long plaza. Inside it's clean and basic, you order at the kiosk or counter and they've got a nice array of barbequed meats, katsu, and teas. I order up the signature meat lover plate which is large and full of beef rib, beef slices and chicken. You can some cold macaroni salad and a rice, it's time to dig in! The marinade is a more basic soy-based sauce and tasty. While I'd give the edge to Ni Armor right now, it's a 40 minute drive for me so I'll certainly be back to Triangle Hawaii BBQ to try more off the menu. 1 Star - Extremely Disappointing Experience We ordered takeout directly from the restaurant and got the Hawaii Teriyaki Chicken, Honey Spicy Soy Garlic Chicken, and Hawaii Original Katsu. Unfortunately, when we got home and opened the food, it was immediately obvious something was wrong. The teriyaki chicken looked grey and unappetizing. The Honey Spicy Soy Garlic Chicken was incredibly tough, chewy, and difficult to eat. The Hawaii Original Katsu was nothing special, and the sides were just as disappointing. The macaroni salad was bland and lacked flavor, and the so-called "fried rice" had no egg, very little flavor, and tasted like it had simply been microwaved rather than freshly prepared. Overall, the entire meal was poor quality and not worth the money we spent. What made the experience even worse was the customer service afterward. We called to request a refund because the food was inedible, and instead of offering to remake the order or trying to resolve the situation, we were told we had to bring the food back to the restaurant for a refund. The restaurant is about 30 minutes away, making that request unreasonable after already making the trip home. Between the poor food quality and the lack of customer service, this was one of the worst takeout experiences we've had. Based on our experience, I genuinely don't understand the high ratings this place has received. Would not return and would not recommend. read more

My friend and I met up to check out this Hawaiian BBQ spot and it was nice on the inside. When you walk in you place your order at the kiosk. I ordered the pineapple strawberry fruit tea with 50% sugar and the Hawaii BBQ Chicken meal with white rice and macaroni salad. The meat portions appear to be very generous since it is sitting on top of a bed of cabbage but it is still a good portion. My friend placed an order of crab rangoon and those were delicious. About a week ago I was sitting outside of the Chick-fila on Capital and I saw a sign for Hawaiian BQQ across the street in MiniCity. I knew this place was new and I hadn't had Hawaiian food in years so it stuck in mind. Fast forward a week later and I went in for takeout. They have two self service kiosk with pictures of each food which makes it easy for ordering. I knew from the other Yelp reviews that I had to get the beef spare ribs and let me tell you they did not disappoint. The meat was tender, it paired perfectly with the fried rice and macaroni salad. In college I had a roommate who used to always make spam musubi but I had never tried chicken bqq musubi and I hate to say that it was wayyyy better. As backup I got their hot lemon pepper wings which were crispy and well spiced but I didn't need a backup everything was delicious. The restaurant is clean and there is plenty of indoor seating. After coming here from CA for so long I was super excited to try some Hawaiian BBQ out here in the Triangle. The service was friendly and the place was bright and clean. We ordered the chicken katsu with curry, the black peppered short ribs, hawaiian bbq meat and one of my favorites the loco moco. Chicken katsu was fried golden with a flaky crunch accompanied by curry on the side. I think the curry sauce could use some more veggies thrown in but still pretty delicious. We enjoyed it. The peppered short ribs was good but a little over salted. Season it a little bit less and it would have been higher in rating. Hawaiian BBQ meat was tender and moist. It's probably my favorite item that we ordered here. The sweet and unnami flavor on perfectly cooked rice made me happy. The loco moco to me was a huge let down. Unless it changes, I hope this review would help someone from ordering a pretty tasteless dinner with a sauce that tasted off. First off, I don't know what they used for the patty but I wonder if it was just a frozen hamburger patty heated up. Dried, not seasoned and almost tasteless. The eggd on top wasn't overeasy, but well done... extremely well done on the verge of rubbery. You would think I could power through with the gravy to finish the meal but I couldn't. The gravy was salty and had an aftertaste of peanut butter. It was the strangest thing. We tried Triangle Hawaiian BBQ for a Saturday lunch. Sorry to be so blunt at the beginning of the review, but it was lousy. There's essentially no service. When you enter the restaurant, you're supposed to order at one of two terminals. Of course, they suggest a generous tip for themselves, starting at 18% and highlighted in red, for the good job they are going to do. Unfortunately, after being duped into leaving a tip, you realize it's all self service. We tried the spring rolls as an appetizer. We received two undercooked, gooey in the middle, barely warm spring rolls that seemed suspiciously like the same spring rolls served at Chinese buffets, plus a tiny container of dipping sauce, which clearly came out of a jar. They weren't just bad, they were horrible. My dining companion tried the orange chicken for lunch. When you open the serving container, your initial thought is that the serving is huge. However, the entree is placed on a bed of shredded cabbage, so the serving, while generous, isn't as large as it initially appears. It was cold, not warm, cold. The chicken had clearly been cooked at some point in the past and likely stored in the cooler until the cook tried to warm it before dumping it in the serving container. The chicken also seemed suspiciously similar to the frozen chicken chunks used at Chinese buffets for fried dishes. It was flavorless and just bad. My dining companion noted that the best part of her lunch was the slice of pineapple served as a garnish. The high point of the meal was my Kalua pork. In fact, it's the only reason this isn't a 1-star review. The marinated, roasted pork wasn't bad; the marinade gave it a distinctive flavor that I enjoyed. The accompanying macaroni salad had too much mayonnaise for my taste, but it wasn't terrible. The fried rice, however, was terrible: cold, flavorless, and not the tiniest hint of a bit of onion or spam or anything else. Our visit to Triangle Hawaiian BBQ cost us $41 before a tip. It was a massive ripoff, especially when considering the quality of the food and self-service model. With the exception of the roasted Kalua pork, we could have gotten everything else at our local strip mall Chinese restaurant. It would have cost substantially less as well as being cooked to order and served hot. This was our first and last visit to Triangle Hawaii BBQ. read more

The pineapple is surprisingly tasty. Under the meats are shredded cabbage, which doesn't have much taste. You have to eat it with the meat, but cabbage is fresh. The ordering process is smooth using the kiosks and the service is mostly self serving. The rep did go round asking how is the food and if there's any else we need. Visited with my family of 7 just before a concert. We've been very excited about this place since seeing it on Instagram. I really wanted to be able to give 5 stars, but I think my 4 is generous. They were pretty busy upon arrival. The dining room is on the smaller side, but fortunately we were able to find seating for all 7 of us. They offer touch screen ordering stations, but we chose to order from a live person. The customer service was about what you'd expect from a typical takeout restaurant. The prices are a bit high, but we've been craving Hawaiian for a while so we ordered a lot. The taste of the food is great! The portions are average. The BBQ spare ribs are smaller and they only give 3 shrimp with the pick-3 meal. The fried rice isn't fried much, just browned with soy sauce. The macaroni salad was underwhelming which was disappointing cause I was really looking forward to it. The gravy katsu was the best item I tried. I love that they offer boba and smoothies, however we didn't try any. But their other drink options are limited to canned sodas. There were plenty of workers, but it was disappointing to see them cluster behind the counter when the dining room was a mess. All in all, I'm happy we have a Hawaiian option, but some improvements can be made. read more

Wow! Just WOW! I'm originally from the Bay Area, now living in NC, and used to visit Hawaii every year for the past 20+ years. I stumbled across this place and I am so grateful for having to come out this way, otherwise I wouldn't have even known about this hidden gem! Me and my very picky eater Husband both had the Chicken Katsu plate with fried rice and Mac salad. Amazing!! Husband was happy! Absolutely cooked to perfection, so crispy and tender and the taste was phenomenal! I really appreciated the Mac salad served in a separate container to keep cold (as usually in other places I've tried, they're placed next to the hot food and it gets warm.) I've tried many many Hawaiian BBQ spots from Hawaii, Bay Area, etc... this is the BEST I've had and it blows others out the water!! The restaurant was absolutely clean!!! The lady at the register was very friendly and extremely helpful.The food was so appealing to the eye. It was absolutely delicious too! I had bbq shrimp with cabbage fried rice and macaroni salad. The cabbage is not really pictured because it was on the bottom of the shrimp. It was plain and raw and delicious! The macaroni salad wasn't that bad, but not that great either. I'm not sure why it came with my meal. May be some custom my friend had the bbq shrimp with noodles. We both had the Philly egg rolls. Not sure what the sauce was, but it was tasty. The egg rolls weren't Philly enough for me, no peppers and onions. At least I didn't see or taste them. read more

This place is SO good. I've been twice and both times have forgotten to take pictures because I'm always too excited to eat it. my favorite is the chicken curry, it's a Japanese curry which is my favorite and it comes with a delicious Mac salad. We ordered Katsu chicken, and both had the short rib & Hawaiian beef combo plates. When I tell you I could eat this food every single day of my life, I mean that. Their packaging was impeccable and very secure. It came in a reusable bag. You could tell they put extra thought into it traveling well.
