Yum, tasty vegan cafe in downtown Raleigh! I highly recommend requesting the house made coconut milk in your drink. I chose the matcha latte made with coconut milk and was not disappointed. While walking downtown on a cold morning, I stopped at Raleigh Raw to warm up. The ladies working the counter greeted me upon arrival, showed me where the menus were (at the end of the counter closest to the door), and took my order. Although the food menu looked delicious, I decided on a matcha latte and a pre-bottled juice. The menu is rather pricy, particularly for the beverages. The food items are more reasonably priced. The music is pleasant. It is louder than other cafes but fits the atmosphere. Ample seating is available inside at tables and the bar. Two single clean bathrooms are available in the back of the dining room for use. It took longer than expected to receive the latte, but it was well worth the wait. I enjoyed both beverages. As I mentioned above, the coconut milk used in the matcha latte is divine. The juice I chose was a blend of beet, ginger, lemon, carrot, cucumber, celery, apple, and parsley. Disappointing acai bowl experience. Ordered the Khaleesi Acai Bowl and the blended base didn't look or taste like it had any acai in it. It tasted like a watery strawberry banana smoothie with a bit of kiwi, strawberry, banana, some crunchy underripe mango and like, a tablespoon of toasted oats floating on top. [Coronavirus review] Open as a takeout window at present, this juice bar is filling an important niche as it's been harder than usual to get fresh fruits and vegetables. I ordered a smoothie, which probably had a decent amount of fruit and protein in it but had a bit of a muddy undifferentiated taste to it and came with a straw that wasn't quite up to the task. The truffles I took to go were more impressive, being based on cashews I think but delivering a rich chocolately experience that was tough to distinguish from non-plant-based truffles I've had. Raleigh raw has really helped me to open my pickle palette!! I never thought I would be eating raw sweet potatoes and sea weed. The food was beyond good and now I crave them all the time. I was shocked that the only alternative they had was honey or coconut sugar, I was looking for something more like stevia which is oftentimes at every coffee shop so I was shocked they didn't have it. The latte itself was cold, not sure if it was because of the juice but I asked for it hot. There was also no milk foam it was totally flat. Not to mention the ginger was a bit too overpowering and made it taste too spicy for my liking. The pineapple really shines and the spices can kinda mellow out, but still has all that healthy in it. I also choose the cacao mocha latte, using cacao + sweetened with maple syrup (instead of chocolate syrup), and almond milk and it's delicious and satisfying. The first sip, you kinda realize the difference between chocolate and cacao and it's just subtly sweet, but by the 3rd sip, you're drinking it heartily! This review is long overdue. I have been a customer of RR since 2016. I worked around the corner and had discovered this place mainly due to seeing poke & juices on the menu. Coming from the W. Coast and seeing poke offered in the south.. I knew they knew what was up. They did... but my only feedback which I have noticed and they did improve overtime was the size of the fish pieces. Poke is supposed to be cut into tiny pieces not huge mouth-full sashimi pieces. I noticed I now don't have try and cut the pieces even smaller with my chopsticks. So thank you! I used to juice myself before juicing with RR. If you have ever put in that labor you will understand why they cost that much and why it's worth it. I originally started with the 3-day cleanses. Using them as a reset and helping me overcome sugar addictions. Now I have a subscription and just incorporate them into my diet. I stopped working downtown a year ago and was so sad to miss my beloved downtown Raleigh spots especially Raleigh Raw.... until... DUN dun dunnnn they came out with the meal subscriptions. When they announced it I was quick to hop on even though I knew it would be a bumpy road at first. It was... lol. But I had faith in RR and knew they would work out the kinks and they did! Now the subscriptions make a lot more sense rather than the pilot program. I am now on my 3rd and have one of each- breakfast, lunch, & dinner. I still get those downtown vibes and reminisce on being inside the cozy RR when I get my deliveries. RR has made my life so much better. I don't know what I'd do with out them. I even had some crappy days downtown and found solace at that bar (them smoothie + CBD oil days).
