Stopped by Black & White Coffee while looking for a cup of coffee downtown. I noticed that there was a coffee shop located in the local Videri Chocolate shop. Parking can be a bit tricky here as the coffee shop is located in the heart of downtown Raleigh. The vibe inside this coffee shop is bright and open. I ordered a caramel latte which was excellent and the latte art was also a nice touch. If you are trying to work remotely there isn't much seating available here. If I'm in the area again I'll definitely be stopping by black and white coffee for a cup of coffee. read more

The perfect coffee roaster might actually exist -- and it might be Black & White Coffee Roasters in downtown Raleigh. I'm a big fan of lighter-roasted, funky, expressive coffees, and Black & White absolutely delivers. Their roasting style leans into vibrant, fruit-forward profiles, and they do it with confidence. The downtown Raleigh location is fantastic too. It's right in the middle of everything, making it a great stop for a date night, meeting up with friends, or just dropping in for a quick but exceptional cup. Their seasonal menu was small but mighty -- just a couple of options -- but the kind where every drink looks so good you wish they'd never rotate them off the menu. I started with the orange cardamom flat white, and it was perfect in every way. Beautifully presented and incredibly balanced. The espresso, milk, orange, and cardamom all complemented each other without any one flavor taking over. It was nuanced, aromatic, and just a joy to drink. For my second drink, I ordered a Rodrigo Sanchez pour-over, a co-fermented Colombian coffee labeled with passion fruit notes. It was everything I want from a pour-over -- bright, juicy, and expressive, with the kind of sweet stone fruit and berry notes that make light-roasted coffee so exciting. Black & White continues to prove why they're one of the most respected specialty roasters around. The best coffee in Raleigh. Amazing coffee. I parked in the paid parking for the building and it was free with a voucher from the coffee shop. The coffee is amazing. I got a bag of coffee that comes with a free 12oz drip brew. The drip brew was amazing. They have a rotating menu for the espresso and drip. I ordered a latte and unlike most places you could actually taste the espresso which was amazing. The milk was perfectly steamed. The seating inside is minimal so don't come with a family of four or more unless you want to sit outside. The outside patio is in the shade for the most part. The service was excellent and quick. Their coffee is fantastic definitely try the mocha , it's a must. I love their outdoor patio but sometimes they kick you out. The wifi is ok, not amazing but it works. They usually have a seasonal menu that i've tried a couple of times but the mocha is a tried and true staple. They sell coffee beans as well! read more

Really cute place, lots of room to work for the day. They had their own beans for sale too. My only reason for the lower star is my coffee and cousins were watered down. Normally I would go back and give the opportunity to correct. We were just in a hurry and I'm not local. The flavor of the coffee was great. I could tell they are either using a high quality syrup or making them in house. I ordered a lavender yuzu latte. The lavender tasted like fresh lavender tea. If you want a chocolate themed drink, this is your spot. It is inside the Videri Chocolate Factory, albeit a separate business. They source their chocolate from Videri. They also serve coffee, which I didn't try. You must order the SIPPING CHICOLATE! It is melted chocolate with a little water and additional sugar. It is super rich so you get a small cup to sip like an espresso. They have a beautiful outdoor patio, which is where we sat. I would be a regular at this cafe if I lived in the area. I will make a stop here every time I visit Raleigh. read more

The coffee is great and I used to take the long drive to go in and get my original bag every couple weeks (I don't live close by downtown unfortunately). When I found out they do subscriptions and deliver it, I was so excited and immediately signed up! What they don't communicate is the first bag you get is NOT what you pre-select and is selected by them (aka the worst and weirdest flavor bag they have). I thought it was a mistake so reached out to their customer service to fix it but was quickly told I would need to wait another 4 weeks (the frequency I chose for my subscription) for the actual flavor I wanted. Now I'm out $25 along with a bag of coffee that I will never drink. The entire process was frustrating and enough for me to cancel my subscription and find a new place to get my beans. read more

I got an iced latte and an iced coffee here and both were delicious. You can taste the flavors in their beans. You also can get a single origin espresso shot if you prefer even lighter roasts. It's a nice spot - I'll be back the next time I'm in the area. I enjoyed a book here for a couple of hours while my wife did some work on her laptop. There is a good amount of seating both indoors and out, smells like you're inside a chocolate factory since it shares space with one - although I was really only there for the coffee. The drip coffee was fine, the beans I bought (a very lightly roasted Ethiopian) were excellent. They do pour-overs, but that wouldn't have come free with the beans I bought. read more

Had to try this place because my friend was visiting from out of state. She got an iced mocha and I tried the honey lattes. We included some chocolates to take home and try later. Easy to find location, parking wasn't hard, and coffee was excellent. Will definitely find my way here again for coffee. Great service! I visited again with my brother and we had the iced mocha. Black and White has an outsized reputation in the coffee community, and I was excited they happened to have a location in Raleigh (one of the few in total). On top of that, in a chocolate factory! I love Videri too by the way, and especially this location: they give free chocolate samples and are super nice, plus have a wonderful selection of chocolate bars, gifts, and pastries. The coffee here was great, and I picked up a bag from the awesome selection on shelves (some of them will be sold out online). The baristas were super friendly and patient, and even gave me some tips on the Aeropress technique and the particular coffee I bought. I think my only wish is that they featured more of their unique coffees and rotated frequently for espressos. They were also out of pour-overs when I visited. But overall, just pumped I could visit a B&W run cafe near where I was staying! read more

On travel for work and wanted a place outside my hotel that i could do some work and this place fit the bill. Staff were very warm and welcoming; easy to have conversations with. I got a hot americano first which was fantastic; i use this as a base measure for how well a shop pulls shots without having to completely sacrifice the drink if its subpar. I then grabbed an espresso which was perfectly balanced and easily drinkable; no need for sugar to offset bitterness; appropriate temperature; served in warmed ceramic shot glass. I also grabbed a baked good which was also great, i wouldve preferred it warmed up, although admittedly, they probably could have if id asked. There is a large amount of outdoor seating but inside seating is limited as well as outlets for work. Luckily it wasnt busy when i arrived and was able to find a spot to get setup. Will absolutely be coming back and recommending this place to others. read more
