I visited a local coffee shop and bought a bag of the oak city coffee. It wasn't my favorite since the beans were freshly roasted to use in my espresso machine. It was pretty hard to dial the beans in since they were fresh. We did try to go to the google maps address and only saw a store front with no business at the location for oak city. Very unclear on actual location even after looking on social media.

Oak City Coffee Roasters is located on Hargett Street down the hill from Boylan Bridge Pub. It's a metal building with the name over a sliding garage door. It is easy to miss but I would 100% recommend taking some time to go down there on a Friday evening or Saturday to meet the owner Bill who manages the company solely. Whether you're enjoying music at on First Friday (with $2 discounts off certain bags of coffee) or you stop in on a Saturday afternoon like I did, Bill will welcome you and share his passion for the trade of roasting and his desire to use his skills to make an impact not only in Raleigh but worldwide. Bill always has fresh coffee brewed ready to drink but can also do a pour over of anything you'd like to taste. The coffee is delicious and that in addition to Bill's passion for creating a good business with the desire to help others that will keep me going back. I cannot say enough good about Oak City Coffee Roasters and would encourage anyone in the Raleigh area to support this business (one year old this month!) and get to know Bill. Even though the shop has limited hours, you can order a bag of coffee online and he will deliver it to your home for free in the Raleigh area OR you can walk down the street to Café de los Muertos and pick up a bag. On my visit I tried the Kenyan Select, which was delicious. A strong coffee that hits you perfectly with a blend of dark blackberry flavors and doesn't leave acidity to the ending flavor. Next time I'm looking forward to trying the Kabum, the most popular bean (so popular that they are sold out often, so grab it if you see it!)

My first bag of whole bean coffee from Oak City Coffee Roasters.

Great coffee and good atmosphere. Quick in and out or they have a fire place and tables if you need to get some work done.

The saying is true - "I haven't had my coffee yet - Don't make me kill you." I am running low on Kabum.

There's plenty of seating, and the menu offers a lot more than just coffee -- with options ranging from craft coffee to beer and wine. I ordered a cortado, which was exactly the late-afternoon pick-me-up I needed. I had to take it to go (never the ideal way to enjoy a cortado), but it was still well prepared and nicely balanced. I also tried one of their seasonal drinks, the Bee Stings Latte -- an iced latte with honey, ginger, turmeric, and a little cayenne kick. It was a really unique combination and surprisingly refreshing. The spice and honey gave it a comforting, almost restorative feel -- the kind of drink that would be perfect if you're feeling a little under the weather or dealing with sore joints. My wife ordered the Raspberry Beret, an iced matcha with raspberry purée and white chocolate. Her verdict: the best matcha she's ever had. Between the creative drinks, solid coffee, and laid-back atmosphere, Full Bloom is a great spot in Garner whether you're settling in for a while or just grabbing something on the go.

For food, I got the Maple griddle which was very tasty. We were all wanting mimosas but they ran out of juice for mimosa so they were just giving champagne instead. My only complaint that I watched all my friends get theirs in beer glasses but mine came in a small container -__- I assume this may be the regular mimosa glass but I disliked the consistency and equality. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We sat upstairs, which was a decent sized area with great lighting and local art. Overall, it's a nice establishment in downtown Garner.

The perfect coffee roaster might actually exist -- and it might be Black & White Coffee Roasters in…read moredowntown Raleigh. I'm a big fan of lighter-roasted, funky, expressive coffees, and Black & White absolutely delivers. Their roasting style leans into vibrant, fruit-forward profiles, and they do it with confidence. The downtown Raleigh location is fantastic too. It's right in the middle of everything, making it a great stop for a date night, meeting up with friends, or just dropping in for a quick but exceptional cup. Their seasonal menu was small but mighty -- just a couple of options -- but the kind where every drink looks so good you wish they'd never rotate them off the menu. I started with the orange cardamom flat white, and it was perfect in every way. Beautifully presented and incredibly balanced. The espresso, milk, orange, and cardamom all complemented each other without any one flavor taking over. It was nuanced, aromatic, and just a joy to drink. For my second drink, I ordered a Rodrigo Sanchez pour-over, a co-fermented Colombian coffee labeled with passion fruit notes. It was everything I want from a pour-over -- bright, juicy, and expressive, with the kind of sweet stone fruit and berry notes that make light-roasted coffee so exciting. Black & White continues to prove why they're one of the most respected specialty roasters around. If you love adventurous coffee with huge flavor and careful execution, this place is an absolute must-visit.
